New data from the City of Ottawa shows that drivers have developed a lead foot in school zones since photo radar cameras were suspended last November. More than half of drivers have exceeded the speed limit over the past 5 months, as speed compliance in these former speed camera hubs has given way to an uptick in high-end speeding. Leading up to the start of September, municipalities have been tasked to install permanent large signs with flashing lights in order to slow down drivers. Until then, Premier Doug Ford is encouraging the city’s top officials to install speed bumps in school zones. Andrew Pinsent digs deeper with Robyn D.
