The latest Leger polling data suggests more than half of B.C. residents believe the downtown core closest to where they live have declined in the past year, with 73 per cent of people saying this about Victoria. Top reasons given by respondents for the perceived decline of Victoria’s downtown core include homelessness (91 per cent), drug addiction (87 per cent) and mental health challenges for vulnerable populations (78 per cent).
