Halifax Meals on Wheels has been helping to put food on the tables of those struggling with food insecurity for over 50 years! Their dedicated team of staff and volunteers will deliver over 25,000 meals this year!”
In addition to their regular Monday-Thursday delivery program, Meals on Wheels has a number of initiatives to alleviate the need for some of the most vulnerable groups.
Friday Meal Delivery Program- Each week 40-60 meals are delivered to various family resource centers, schools, un-housed shelters, free meal programs, or anywhere else they can determine a need.
Halifax Meals on Wheels is currently taking part in the DCSLTC program to alleviate food insecurity among Halifax seniors. In conjunction with Northwood Homecare, they provide almost 500 meals a month to seniors in need.
Regular meal deliveries have doubled in the last year and Halifax Meals on Wheels is currently seeking more volunteers!
