Rhea Dempsey is one Australia’s best known childbirth educators and author of "Birth with Confidence, Savvy choices for normal birth". Now writing her second book, she is also a speaker, counselor and birth attendant at more than 1000 births in her 40 year career. She is also mother to three adult daughters, and a grandmother.
Rhea is an independent and straight talking voice who speaks plainly to expectant couples about what to expect in terms of the physiological process - she doesn’t pull punches in saying it’s generally a painful experience, but hastens to explain the hormonal systems that have a pain relieving effect. She also spells out the realities of birthing in our health system and how to work with that system to get optimal results from it.
