You know, kind of wrap up the end of the
year and look forward, you know, look a past to
what happened with guns and Roses this past year and
the podcast and the same thing at twenty twenty six.
So we'll talk about that, and coming up we'll do
mister Mailestone where we talk to you.

As you heard at the top, that's Duff speaking in
Japan at a offender event. I believe mentioning the song nothing,
which I think at the time we when listening to that. Oh,
they have a new song called Nothing coming out soon.

Is the word. And the song came out December sick.

You know, it was supposed to come out December second,
and as we know now December fourth. So kind of
let's have a little bit of a walk down the
road of nothing in Atlas just a little bit. Nothing
kind of came out of nowhere. That wasn't one of
the rumored titles that you've seen from leaks in years past.

Something that name I certainly have not come across beforehand,
you know what.

It was kind of.

Thing, and I don't really get to I don't deep dive.
I mean, I guess I should do hosting a podcast,
but I don't deep dive too much into the leaks anymore.

It just takes my enjoyment out of it.

Ever since, I believe I've spoke about this before on
the podcast. Ever since Chinese Democracy and those leaks with
the songs were never ever coming.

That's what you believe.

This this album these everyone makes funny if you're guns
and Roses man because this album that's never gonna come out.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And the Internet.

Internet internet internet was kind of new combining those two
words there, The Internet was kind of new ish, but
as far as downloading music, it was certainly not what
it is today and the access that you have today.
So yeah, I was one of those downloading mfors back then.
And now I'll listen out of curiosity once or twice,

and then that's about it, you know, even then, I guess,
why do you even listen at all? But I guess
now now it's for the podcast. That's the excuse, the
only reason why I've listened to Monsters and Children of
the Revolution. We'll get to in a second. So Atlas
we've heard of we thought was gonna be named Atlas shrugs,

one of these long rumored names, these songs. What is
this for Olympic song that acts concocted starting in the
Chinese democracy era? What is it gonna sound like? We've
heard bits and pieces of it, We've heard leaks of it. Again,
I personally have not spent too much time to where
I these releases were not ruined for me because of that.

I heard enough of this nitbit where I had an
expectation of Atlas maybe a little bit, but I that's
why I don't listen to it. I don't listen to
leaks because I don't want the expectation or I just
want it to be as is. This is how, even
with a release date delay, this is how you're gonna
get it, and that's what it's gonna be. So they

were There was an announcement from Guns and Rosa themselves
about the new tour next year. I guess not a great,
not like it was a secret, but we knew not
a great, the worst kept secret that they were going
to tour North America again. They're gonna tour more dates
in twenty twenty six. I didn't know where. But then

these dates dropped kind of out of nowhere, which Guns
and Roses likes to do. And then of course they
had some fan fair afterwards with drones in I forget
where in LA but they also had it in the city.
I wish if I knew, I would have left my apartment.
I'm a hermit now, but I would have left my

apartment to see. Yeah, the drones they had, and they've
had the outlets and nothing artwork as a promo in
Times Square and up and for billboards in LA as well.
I would have so shout out to Vinnie, one of
the listeners are from New York City, who took sent
me a picture from his office.

But I'm getting ahead of myself, so within these tour dates,
because there's a lot to say, there's a lot to say,
and I have a lot to get out before the
end of the year, Before I go off to Yeah,
hermit me is going to go off to Colorado for
like a week more that in a second.

So I I there was an expert. It's funny though
all the dates, I thought it.

Was peculiar that at the bottom of it was and
two new songs, nothing in Atlas. Just at the bottom
you think Guns and Roses new music might even get
the header over a tour at this point when they've
toured before. But at the bottom of it, it was
shared on gnr's so all their social medias, so let's

let's get excited, and I got excited if you follow
along on my social media's. I even did like a
you know, a silly countdown with how many days left?
This was on the I don't know, December, No, this
would be like October thirty.

Oh, you know, like two days before.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I'd have axle post, you know, doing a peace sign
how many days left until Atlas released?
Speaker 1 (05:53):
And nothing is released?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
And then with one day left, I had him putting
up the middle finger, you know one day ha ha.
Everyone is liking it. I'm like creating this silly little
countdown that people enjoyed. So so I appreciate all those
who think I'm funny on there.

So the day comes and nothing happens. Of course, the
jokes are endless. Nothing nothing, You got nothing from nothing.
What's what's happening here?

And I said, I just posted this day, actual shrugging,
like you know, how many more days until Atlas and
Nothing are released?

I don't know.

And it's interesting that people are asking me. I have
no idea. There are some of you, I guess, and
I it's it's it's a nice thought to think just
because I interviewed Dell James at this point, or I'm
lucky enough to have Forrest be a listener, that I
have some sort of insider information.

I know things. Then I don't. I know nothing.

I know nothing with an apostrophe, and I'm being honest
with you, I don't.

So nothing happened, no announcement, no announcement of the delay.
I guess to some credit, because I have my eyes
all over Instagram and Twitter and Facebook at all these
even Blue Sky or Blue Ski, even though I'm not
really like I'm on it, but I'm not on it.

Vanessa from from Tea, Brazil, responding to some fans just
saying I'm sorry, you know that you'll you'll hear news soon.
News would be two days later when those songs just happened.
They just came out, and I admit if you either

caught it or you didn't, so you could be in
like Guns and Roses. And this is why they you
can do this or not and this isn't strategy and
they're they're better than me, is that you can say
nothing and just act like nothing ever happened and like,
oh okay, because if they make a statement, then it's like, oh,
Guns and Roses did this again, and that statement is
going to live on the internet forever, and then it's

gonna be idiot me who shares it on like on
this day in G and R history. G and are
delayed the release, you know they don't. That's a tactic.
But of course you can talk to your fans and
that's another way and be honest. So I'm letting you
know with my honesty right before they released Atlas and
nothing like a ten am or something, because people are

asking me, what's your opinion about this release date? Gait,
you know, what's your opinion on all this? Like people
asking me questions, is it gonna be released especially in
the day of is it gonna be released noon Eastern time?
Is it gonna be released released before midnight? Your your
guest was as good as mine, which was nothing pee

pee wee. Anyway, so I they I get it, So
I put out that. I just didn't know. It can
be frustrating as guns and Roses fans. So I've been
it a little bit. I'm like, I don't know, like
why I put out a date if you can't keep that,
But I understand things happen. I even did like if
you want to keep on the Seinfeld kick of instead

of there's nothing and then there's you know, the reservation bit.
You know you can make a release date, but you
don't know how to hold on to the release state.
How many release dates potentially were there for Chinese democracy?
So I mean the jokes, there's a lot of Seinfeld.
By the way, multiverse with with with GNR. I saw

this on a Seinfeld Facebook group. I wish I knew
the person to credit, but it was the same actress
that was the blonde and that Don't Don't Cry video
who was at the piano with Stephanie Seymour played the
very beautiful blonde woman in Seinfeld, same actress who could
get him out of tickets can get movie tickets, the

one that the woman ended up getting stolen by hot
gag because he faked a question that he was something
about Dustin Hoffman, that he thought he was in Star Wars,
but he got it wrong on purpose, just to.

You either know Seinfeld and you know what I'm talking about,
or you're like, what that You just took a complete
left turn. But well, I have the moment. There is
a GNR Seinfeld multiverse. Anyway, It's the end of the year.
So I didn't know these songs came out, so I
posted that, and I felt like such a The songs
came out, so I don't need to have these posts up.

I even acknowledged him, like I I was the one
GNR fan who really didn't I didn't complain that much
publicly because I'm like, what do you say? You know
there's a release date that didn't happen. I didn't have answers,
you know, who was frustrating to say the least. And
I saw, you know, hundreds and hundreds of hundreds of

comments of frustrated fans, and you know, my frustration only
gets so much nowadays because my priority these are usually
in wrapped in a two and a half year old, who,
by the way, is out at another two year old's
birthday party today, so he will not be making it appearance,
and which is why I could do this episode uninterrupted
other than by my own thoughts. So I just want

to admit that I got frustrated. So I know this
is all all that I guess need want to get
this out now. But now that the songs are out,
I listen. You know, I've listened to him a few times.
Of course, was right before I started recording, and you know,
that frustration quickly dissipated because I'm like, oh, they're here.
Now I get to enjoy what other fan bases have

semi regularly, not all fan bases, certainly, you know, a
release of a song of you know, we don't have
an album yet, but of songs we get to enjoy.
You know, it's I enjoy a lot of things obviously
about guns n' Roses, but when you talk about new
music and there's you.

You know hints, and I do again, I do the
on this day in GNR history, and I'm seeing quotes
from like nearly every band member, whether they're currently still
in the band or past, like a dj Ashba, you know,
saying new music is coming and it's not here. And
it's like, okay, well, I'm enjoying them being touring, you know,

seeing them when I can. That was not something that
was available to me Flash and Axle growing up with
my age. So I'm not going to try to complain
too much. I would like new music great, but now
we got new music fantastic. So with nothing again, try
not to hear the leaks, but I hear this kind
of piano wey intro's it's not even so much a
(12:45):
piano as it is like almost like a like a keyboard,
or again it's it's just a non musician talking. Again,
if that's not obvious, if you don't know me at all.
So I just didn't know what to expect. And it's
one of those songs that even if you go back
to use your illusion. And I'm not even talking about
Chinese democracy because of course it's from that era. A

lot of the roots are. It's a song that starts
off in a certain way and ends a certain way,
and that's what I like, whether it's the November Rain
a breakdown, it starts off soft, that builds something. You know,
it's a really powerful song that turns into you know,
you're adding a slash solo axles, probably saving his best
(13:27):
vocals for the second half of the song. I really
enjoyed nothing. I enjoy it. It's a good, solid song.
It's a good solid song. And I also preface my
expectation of Atlas with this because I don't remember a
word I said.

I did a two parter.

Nonetheless, shows you where my memory is about the general,
my feelings about the general. I don't remember a word
I said. I did two parts on it, but I'm
sure my feelings are the same. I'm just very conflicted
on it because I know that the subject matter is
very powerful and I respect what it's trying to do.
It's just audibly, I just don't enjoy it. I've given
it enough time. I saw one comment on Twitter saying

like I don't get it.

No, I get it.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
There's nothing to get you don't have to force yourself
to like a song even though they could. That doesn't
make you a true fan or not. If you're a
true fan doesn't mean to like everything that they do.
It doesn't mean that you're still a fan. It's just
not it's not for me. It's out of all the
new releases, and then including out Let's wish I'm going

to get to of course it's my least favorite. There
are parts of this song that I like, and there
are it's it could possibly have to do with just
the effects of axles vocals on it, just the way
it's very Frankenstein together. Get all of these originate at
least to the Chinese democracy era and having the newer

band do what they need to do on it, Slash
and Duff and Richard. But as we see with nothing
inn Atlas Drop Brain is still included. You know, Robin
Fink is still included. So they're all a bit Frankenstein.
You could say that a lot about Guns of Roses
music too, if you break down the illusions and even

an appetite for the structured different songwriters. So that's okay,
that is okay to do so, but it makes you wonder,
does that make it more difficult. Is that the why
only two at a time that we're getting these why
not bang all these songs out? These six songs, I
believe at the beginning of in twenty sixteen, in twenty

seventeen eighteen. You know why such a slow release of it?
I don't know. That's one of the big questions of it.
So with Atlas, a song that's been around forever, why
don't you release it? Why is it taken until now?

It goes back to Sean Bevin if you don't remember,
I had on the podcast talking about at least for
him the origins of at least where Axel was at
that time and reading books, and I mean, this is.

But I listened to Atlas now having a certain expectation,
and it's a good song.

It's a good, solid song.

When I put these songs on now, by the way,
again before I listened obviously at the beginning and then
and when they first dropped a bunch of times, but
right to get another get THEE in my blood again.
But I'm my loud speaker here because I can do
that since Harrison's not here. I don't need to hear
Baby Shark or the ABC's or Twinkled Twinkle.

But I was able to play guns and loads, guns
and roses, loud and proud here. I'm combining words here,
loud and proud here. So it was mixed in with
stuff from like Appetite, user illusion, and there's there's a
connection there in It's Axel, I guess, of course, is
the Northern Star the connection between all of it. It's

how I feel like how nothing is why I'm not
like freaking out, like, yeah, nothing's great, Atlas is great
because I'm getting them. I feel this is where the
Frankensteining for me becomes an issue. How Chinese democracy could
have should have been in multiple albums. Sebastian Baka has

said that I believe Axel Rose has said that all
these things have Who knows what the real reasons are
for him not really promoting Chinese democracy at the beginning,
you know, when he kind of just went a wall
for lack of a better term, that he wanted it
out obviously, but was that how he wanted it? Was

that the right artwork he wanted? And I know, you
take all this time, you should get everything. I don't know.
I really don't know. Oh, and this is a little
good sidebar. I'm going to talk to author I don't
know if he's going to be the first guest in
twenty twenty six, but it'll be sometime in January, James
Green Junior, who wrote a book about the making of
Chinese democracy. So we'll talk more about that in the

new year. Because it's just so much shit we don't know.
That's what's intriguing about this, these new parentheses ish songs,
that they're from an era that's really just a lot
to it. There's just a whole other story with guns
and roses, a whole other storyline in addition to just

the classics that they made with Slash in the band
that you have this buckethead fink you know era of
GNR that wrote some prolific music if you give it
a chance. So I'm really glad that these songs will
be given a chance to come out. And now you
have fans comparing. Oh, I liked at list when I
heard the other guys on it in those leaked versions,

and you're allowed, of course, I heard a version the
other day. It's on YouTube of hard School, you know,
a little bit of a different intro, and it was
very cool, you know, but it's it's just not what
was meant to come out. And I'm not saying one
is right one's wrong, you know, it's it's just a

all the other releases I would enjoy more if they
were within an album. The way I digested Chinese, I

maybe you would have been like, use your illusion, use

Could that really matched that kind of song and really
create something else for it? When Chinese came out, I
got it on CD. I got CD on CD, and

at that time I did a pretty significant commute to
a radio station. I was working at the time one
on one point five WPDH, the home of rock and
roll in the Hudson Valley, New York. And I never
lived there. I lived either in Brooklyn or Long that's
somewhere on Long.

But my commute it was about two hours, and it
could be longer or shorter, depending upon traffic. I didn't
expect to be doing it for four years, you know,
I just just didn't whatever. I didn't expect to be
making that commute for four years, but anyway throughout that
four years out of car with a CD player, they
don't make them anymore. And I won't listen to Chinese

Democracy all the time, and knowing that when I would
get through it, I wouldn't have that much left my ride,
and just the journey from the beginning echo is some
Chinese Democracy of the song to the absolute perfection fade
of Prostitute, one of the greatest album closers of all time.

I haven't listened to every album ever, but I'm sorry
I don't need to. It's I mean, I'm like God,
you have Rock and Queen and Prostitute, like they know
that he knows how to write and do finish albums

And within that journey there are songs like Scraped, and
there are songs like if the World and you know
what even better when people don't like that the intro
and it's like that little intro to uh to nothing.

not the best song. I mean for me, there was

favorite song because he used to actually intro himself. That
was his theme song when he was an indie wrestler
under Kevin Steen. Do you know it's amazing? Shot out

So that's why I don't even think she and I
are still said anything about it. It's just it came,
it went. It's a moment in history, and we have
the songs anyway. We have the songs anyway, but they're
not going to exist in the way again the Journey,

which I think I would appreciate all these songs even more,
but specifically Nothing in an Atlas. I know there's been
some criticism about the Nothing artwork. I kind of like it,
you know, I guess because I'm biased. Also, I have
a little kid. I think it's Vanessa's daughter when she

was younger. If I'm reading comments correctly, I don't know.
But it's part of the Labay's family and just very cute.
And I didn't notice that first couple of things. Shout
out to all cautions on Twitter that it depends on
where you go you get the song from. They have
it something different. I think there are four different versions
on the because it's a little girl in front of

you know, a car. It's a beautiful car. I'm not
a car person, so I'm a Corvette. I don't know Ferrari.
I'm pathetically not a car version. I'm a car person.

That's always been kind of like my thing an album.

And so look at some of the artwork for some
of the singles Don't Cry, isn't it just like the
it looks like a corner of a room or be
a casket. It's just like it's like a corner. So
there's plenty of classic songs that the artwork is in.
Don't let the ruin the songs for you the art work,
because I know there are some of you who do great,

great artwork out there. There's so many talented G and
R fans, And I just saw all these posts about like.

the video. Her is he split up a long time ago,

It was actually his idea to talk about the Sabbath show,

but he's very disheartened by the Gunz Rooses fan community
and some of the things that I kind of alluded
to before about Okay, this is is it a new song?

This is an old song but made new. It's not
really new. When the new band and when they're going
to get into a room and make new music, I
don't know the answer to these questions. That would be
really cool if the new band all of them got together.
It's interesting that, you know, you don't see Frank or

Why is that the case? Okay, this music was perfect,
then here the slashing off or the instrumental pun intended parts.
This is what we need to update, you know, Richard
needs to Does he need to update his parts? Was
he on this older version of it? I don't know
why this stuff is happening, but it's I try not

of fans are. So he wants to come out and
kind of express his feelings on that and kind of
a letter of encouragements to Axel and Team Brazil, believe
it or not, because they they certainly got piled on
Team Brazil with that release date, whatever you want to

Axle is the one player that gets blamed, maybe it
could be somebody else Team Brazil gets blamed. I'm sure
there are other people people who are involved with the

management other than who we know or Beta, Fernando and Vanessa.
I don't know the inner working so I've never felt
comfortable saying this or not. I don't like when people
get like attacked, like I hate these people if someone
says that or I wish this upon them, and that's

that's Jesus. Let's let's be adults here. Okay, you may
not like, but happened to the perceived way they do things?
And again, I I don't know. I I'm not going
to be a sick of fan and pretend like a
lot of the merch that they put out they put
out merch for nothing in at Lis and I'm just
like all right, I'm like, I don't know. So there

are things that you could think of, like how this
band could release all their material, you can make more
money this way? When I am I do we all have
very guzz roses. Fans are very creative by nature. I
think we have to be. This is just what's being
made and how it's being made, So he wants to
appreciate what we have. He genuinely thinks that Atlas and

Nothing have more originality than a lot of modern rock radio,
which has become very rinse and repeat. Axel does not
need to prove anything by trying to recreate another Jungle
or another November Rain.

He already wrote those.

Fans should be grateful for anything new that he's willing
to offer. There's a few things there. One I agree with,
where yeah, he's not going to write another Jungle November Rain.
He has this to live up to, which is insane.
Even if the new band got together released a brand
new song written in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six,

it's gonna be compared to when Izzy was in the band.
It's gonna be compared to appetite, you know it is,
So this is just what we're getting. However, I don't
want to be like you know, Oliver Twist. Oh please, sir,
I'm so grateful, you know, for this crumb. So it's
it does get frustrating where like Okay, why that's the
slow release of two songs? Why is that happening? Where

there will the leaked audio axel of where is this
business plan? There's a lot of stuff that you could
get frustrated by, and maybe being a dad is to
soften me. You know, I'm just not gonna get it
can get to me, but it's not gonna be my
first instinct anymore. Just I remember, I don't know, it's

so funny to think about, like five years into this reunion.
Now it's ten into this union, but I remember five
years into it, Slash said something about we haven't been
in a room together, and I guess got so annoyed
by that at the time, I admit it. I'most like,
really like, how do you are you not in a
room together? Because I don't want to believe that this
is a look. Money wakes makes the.

I'm not gonna get into anybody's pockets whatever, But I
firmly believe that this is more than just a cash
grab and a reunion of just financial reasons, you know
it just it just seems like it's more than that.
I'm sure that's a very big reason and benefit to it,

Would have it would have gone on this long if
they genuinely like being around each other at least, Why
that hasn't translated into the studio. As far as completely

it's the music is It's been hard to get out before, Like,

And it's not that great of a place to see
a band. It's just a big football stadium and that's

because New Jersey is a bit of a depending upon
traffic is traveling, let's actually travel. Let's let's drive a

always down to do that, to travel and everything. That's

why we we went to Hershey Park. We went to
to Baltimore that year. She's like, we didn't get to
go see them in Chicago because of the pandemic. She's like,
let's go see them three times. I'm like, really, maybe
we'll do the same this year. But Saratoga presented itself.
Maybe Hershey Park again, take a baby Brownstone to Hershey
Park itself. But the fact that I get to take

my son the Guns of Roses. Look, I know by
the time it happens is he's gonna be three. Whether
or not he has the memory of it, I don't know.
My earliest memory is four years old, my brother Tristan
coming home. I'm the oldest of four, and my mom
gave me a race Dance ray from The Ghostbusters Dan

Ackroid's character but the cartoon version of action figure in
our house in Baldwin Harvard, New York. I remember, that's
my first memory. Ever, So could Harrison's first memory be
of a Guns of Roses concert? Maybe that would be cool.
We won't know for quite some time. But the fact
that we did it and we got away with it.
In Paul McCartney, we learned a lesson of always have

milk on you. The concession stand stands may not be open,
you know. That was like the one that's the one
thing he didn't like. He's like, he wanted milking and

He was fine when he was old. It got a

from Iowa that you know, I'm appreciative of what they
are giving out. Now, you know, I understand it's been

that if he was still in the band or whatever

Appetite for Destruction. They already put out User Illusion one too.
They put out GNR lies, even the Spaghinnians, and these
are songs that live forever.

They already did it. They were icon their icons are ready.

Yeah, it would be really cool to see if they
kept doing it, to see but as there look at Metallica,
they yeah, they put out some really good music.

And they have.

I'm a big fan of Death Magnetic and that's going.
That's not old, that's not one of the newest, like
even you know, seventy two seasons. They have good stuff
on there. But are any of these songs, any of
the songs are what they make them epic? No, they
already were epic, and yeah, it's all extra, you know

they're there. I use them as the example because they're
more consistent with making new music. But you take away
any of those albums from their catalog, there's still Metallica.
So with Guns or Roses, I don't know. He doesn't
want to put anything out that wants to be forgotten
like that. We could all speculate why hy axels or

if it's all him again, there's there's so many different
layers to this, to the people who make up this bands,
to the band itself. So it's just nice to be
able to talk about new music, new ish music. Let's
just say new music for the sake of argument. Let's
just say it. So nothing Atlas. I enjoyed them.

a moment time where he did, because that's how London
when he was fifteen, had to get on, had to
ask his parents' permission. I'm not as important as some
of the things I am. There's the humility that I
want every now and then. I know I ever want

was recommended to you. You know, okay, you know, would
you want to do an interview? I dated once, so
and so like ideal, like a good story to tell.
I'm not really into dirt. Oh okay, well, I'm sorry. Actually,
you know, I used to date this person and that's
all I have is dirt. I'm like, all right, well thanks,
but no thanks, I'm sorry. They appreciated that. They're like, yeah,

I was actually uncomfortable. I was recommended to contact you,
you know, by by this other person, and I wasn't
sure I really wanted to talk about it. I'm like, yeah,
then we're not going to talk about it. But we're
just not going to talk about it. So that that's
I'm not here, there's certain that's why certain follow up
questions get missed. I just want to continue enjoying what

I'm doing. My son I can't, you know, I don't
know if he'll be We talks more and more every day.

You know, it was supposed to come out December second,
and as we know now December fourth. So kind of
let's have a little bit of a walk down the
road of nothing in Atlas just a little bit. Nothing
kind of came out of nowhere. That wasn't one of
the rumored titles that you've seen from leaks in years past.

Something that name I certainly have not come across beforehand,
you know what.

Thing, and I don't really get to I don't deep dive.
I mean, I guess I should do hosting a podcast,
but I don't deep dive too much into the leaks anymore.

Ever since, I believe I've spoke about this before on
the podcast. Ever since Chinese Democracy and those leaks with
the songs were never ever coming.

This this album these everyone makes funny if you're guns
and Roses man because this album that's never gonna come out.

And the Internet.

Internet internet internet was kind of new combining those two
words there, The Internet was kind of new ish, but
as far as downloading music, it was certainly not what
it is today and the access that you have today.
So yeah, I was one of those downloading mfors back then.
And now I'll listen out of curiosity once or twice,

and then that's about it, you know, even then, I guess,
why do you even listen at all? But I guess
now now it's for the podcast. That's the excuse, the
only reason why I've listened to Monsters and Children of
the Revolution. We'll get to in a second. So Atlas
we've heard of we thought was gonna be named Atlas shrugs,

one of these long rumored names, these songs. What is
this for Olympic song that acts concocted starting in the
Chinese democracy era? What is it gonna sound like? We've
heard bits and pieces of it, We've heard leaks of it. Again,
I personally have not spent too much time to where
I these releases were not ruined for me because of that.

I heard enough of this nitbit where I had an
expectation of Atlas maybe a little bit, but I that's
why I don't listen to it. I don't listen to
leaks because I don't want the expectation or I just
want it to be as is. This is how, even
with a release date delay, this is how you're gonna
get it, and that's what it's gonna be. So they

were There was an announcement from Guns and Rosa themselves
about the new tour next year. I guess not a great,
not like it was a secret, but we knew not
a great, the worst kept secret that they were going
to tour North America again. They're gonna tour more dates
in twenty twenty six. I didn't know where. But then

these dates dropped kind of out of nowhere, which Guns
and Roses likes to do. And then of course they
had some fan fair afterwards with drones in I forget
where in LA but they also had it in the city.
I wish if I knew, I would have left my apartment.
I'm a hermit now, but I would have left my

apartment to see. Yeah, the drones they had, and they've
had the outlets and nothing artwork as a promo in
Times Square and up and for billboards in LA as well.
I would have so shout out to Vinnie, one of

But I'm getting ahead of myself, so within these tour dates,

all the dates, I thought it.

Was peculiar that at the bottom of it was and
two new songs, nothing in Atlas. Just at the bottom
you think Guns and Roses new music might even get
the header over a tour at this point when they've
toured before. But at the bottom of it, it was
shared on gnr's so all their social medias, so let's

let's get excited, and I got excited if you follow
along on my social media's. I even did like a
you know, a silly countdown with how many days left?
This was on the I don't know, December, No, this
would be like October thirty.

I'd have axle post, you know, doing a peace sign
how many days left until Atlas released?

And nothing is released?

And then with one day left, I had him putting
up the middle finger, you know one day ha ha.
Everyone is liking it. I'm like creating this silly little
countdown that people enjoyed. So so I appreciate all those
who think I'm funny on there.

So the day comes and nothing happens. Of course, the
jokes are endless. Nothing nothing, You got nothing from nothing.

like you know, how many more days until Atlas and
Nothing are released?

I it's it's it's a nice thought to think just
because I interviewed Dell James at this point, or I'm
lucky enough to have Forrest be a listener, that I
have some sort of insider information.

But of course you can talk to your fans and

you know, what's your opinion on all this? Like people
asking me questions, is it gonna be released especially in

I put out that. I just didn't know. It can
be frustrating as guns and Roses fans. So I've been

why I put out a date if you can't keep that,

of there's nothing and then there's you know, the reservation bit.
You know you can make a release date, but you
don't know how to hold on to the release state.
How many release dates potentially were there for Chinese democracy?

the person to credit, but it was the same actress

comments of frustrated fans, and you know, my frustration only
gets so much nowadays because my priority these are usually
in wrapped in a two and a half year old, who,
by the way, is out at another two year old's
birthday party today, so he will not be making it appearance,

other than by my own thoughts. So I just want

to admit that I got frustrated. So I know this
is all all that I guess need want to get
this out now. But now that the songs are out,
I listen. You know, I've listened to him a few times.
Of course, was right before I started recording, and you know,
that frustration quickly dissipated because I'm like, oh, they're here.
Now I get to enjoy what other fan bases have

semi regularly, not all fan bases, certainly, you know, a
release of a song of you know, we don't have
an album yet, but of songs we get to enjoy.
You know, it's I enjoy a lot of things obviously
about guns n' Roses, but when you talk about new
music and there's you.

You know hints, and I do again, I do the
on this day in GNR history, and I'm seeing quotes
from like nearly every band member, whether they're currently still
in the band or past, like a dj Ashba, you know,
saying new music is coming and it's not here. And
it's like, okay, well, I'm enjoying them being touring, you know,

seeing them when I can. That was not something that
was available to me Flash and Axle growing up with
my age. So I'm not going to try to complain
too much. I would like new music great, but now
we got new music fantastic. So with nothing again, try
not to hear the leaks, but I hear this kind
of piano wey intro's it's not even so much a

piano as it is like almost like a like a keyboard,
or again it's it's just a non musician talking. Again,
if that's not obvious, if you don't know me at all.
So I just didn't know what to expect. And it's
one of those songs that even if you go back
to use your illusion. And I'm not even talking about
Chinese democracy because of course it's from that era. A

lot of the roots are. It's a song that starts
off in a certain way and ends a certain way,
and that's what I like, whether it's the November Rain
a breakdown, it starts off soft, that builds something. You know,
it's a really powerful song that turns into you know,
you're adding a slash solo axles, probably saving his best

vocals for the second half of the song. I really
enjoyed nothing. I enjoy it. It's a good, solid song.
It's a good solid song. And I also preface my
expectation of Atlas with this because I don't remember a
word I said.

Nonetheless, shows you where my memory is about the general,
my feelings about the general. I don't remember a word
I said. I did two parts on it, but I'm
sure my feelings are the same. I'm just very conflicted
on it because I know that the subject matter is
very powerful and I respect what it's trying to do.
It's just audibly, I just don't enjoy it. I've given
it enough time. I saw one comment on Twitter saying

No, I get it.

There's nothing to get you don't have to force yourself
to like a song even though they could. That doesn't
make you a true fan or not. If you're a
true fan doesn't mean to like everything that they do.
It doesn't mean that you're still a fan. It's just
not it's not for me. It's out of all the
new releases, and then including out Let's wish I'm going

to get to of course it's my least favorite. There
are parts of this song that I like, and there
are it's it could possibly have to do with just
the effects of axles vocals on it, just the way
it's very Frankenstein together. Get all of these originate at
least to the Chinese democracy era and having the newer

band do what they need to do on it, Slash
and Duff and Richard. But as we see with nothing
inn Atlas Drop Brain is still included. You know, Robin
Fink is still included. So they're all a bit Frankenstein.
You could say that a lot about Guns of Roses
music too, if you break down the illusions and even

an appetite for the structured different songwriters. So that's okay,
that is okay to do so, but it makes you wonder,
does that make it more difficult. Is that the why
only two at a time that we're getting these why
not bang all these songs out? These six songs, I
believe at the beginning of in twenty sixteen, in twenty

seventeen eighteen. You know why such a slow release of it?
I don't know. That's one of the big questions of it.
So with Atlas, a song that's been around forever, why
don't you release it? Why is it taken until now?

It goes back to Sean Bevin if you don't remember,
I had on the podcast talking about at least for
him the origins of at least where Axel was at
that time and reading books, and I mean, this is.

But I listened to Atlas now having a certain expectation,
and it's a good song.

how I feel like how nothing is why I'm not

because I'm getting them. I feel this is where the
Frankensteining for me becomes an issue. How Chinese democracy could
have should have been in multiple albums. Sebastian Baka has

said that I believe Axel Rose has said that all
these things have Who knows what the real reasons are
for him not really promoting Chinese democracy at the beginning,
you know, when he kind of just went a wall
for lack of a better term, that he wanted it
out obviously, but was that how he wanted it? Was

that the right artwork he wanted? And I know, you
take all this time, you should get everything. I don't know.
I really don't know. Oh, and this is a little
good sidebar. I'm going to talk to author I don't
know if he's going to be the first guest in

Green Junior, who wrote a book about the making of
Chinese democracy. So we'll talk more about that in the

That's what's intriguing about this, these new parentheses ish songs,
that they're from an era that's really just a lot
to it. There's just a whole other story with guns
and roses, a whole other storyline in addition to just

the classics that they made with Slash in the band
that you have this buckethead fink you know era of
GNR that wrote some prolific music if you give it
a chance. So I'm really glad that these songs will
be given a chance to come out. And now you
have fans comparing. Oh, I liked at list when I
heard the other guys on it in those leaked versions,

a radio station. I was working at the time one

roll in the Hudson Valley, New York. And I never
lived there. I lived either in Brooklyn or Long that's
somewhere on Long.

But my commute it was about two hours, and it

Democracy all the time, and knowing that when I would
get through it, I wouldn't have that much left my ride,
and just the journey from the beginning echo is some
Chinese Democracy of the song to the absolute perfection fade
of Prostitute, one of the greatest album closers of all time.

But it's part of the Labay's family and just very cute.
And I didn't notice that first couple of things. Shout

but their plans changed. I think Axel would have been

and H and HD wrote me a long email, so
I'm kind of just going to paraphrase what he he said,
but he's very disheartened by the Gunz Rooses fan community
and some of the things that I kind of alluded
to before about Okay, this is is it a new song?

This is an old song but made new. It's not
really new. When the new band and when they're going
to get into a room and make new music, I
don't know the answer to these questions. That would be
really cool if the new band all of them got together.
It's interesting that, you know, you don't see Frank or
Isaac's name on on a release. It's it's brain, you know.

Why is that the case? Okay, this music was perfect,
then here the slashing off or the instrumental pun intended parts.
This is what we need to update, you know, Richard
needs to Does he need to update his parts? Was
he on this older version of it? I don't know
why this stuff is happening, but it's I try not
to get disheartened by it now so, but a lot

of fans are. So he wants to come out and
kind of express his feelings on that and kind of
a letter of encouragements to Axel and Team Brazil, believe
it or not, because they they certainly got piled on
Team Brazil with that release date, whatever you want to
call it.

I I don't know what happened. Is it Axel last minute? Oh?

Or was it an artwork thing or was it a

All I know is that the faces of the franchise,
just like the sports comparisons that I like to make
who's getting blamed? You know, is it going to be
the players? Is it going to be the GM, But
is it going to be the owner here? You know,
Axle is the one player that gets blamed, maybe it
could be somebody else Team Brazil gets blamed. I'm sure
there are other people people who are involved with the

management other than who we know or Beta, Fernando and Vanessa.
I don't know the inner working so I've never felt
comfortable saying this or not. I don't like when people
get like attacked, like I hate these people if someone
says that or I wish this upon them, and that's

that's Jesus. Let's let's be adults here. Okay, you may
not like, but happened to the perceived way they do things?
And again, I I don't know. I I'm not going
to be a sick of fan and pretend like a
lot of the merch that they put out they put
out merch for nothing in at Lis and I'm just
like all right, I'm like, I don't know. So there

are things that you could think of, like how this
band could release all their material, you can make more
money this way? When I am I do we all have
very guzz roses. Fans are very creative by nature. I
think we have to be. This is just what's being
made and how it's being made, So he wants to
appreciate what we have. He genuinely thinks that Atlas and

Nothing have more originality than a lot of modern rock radio,
which has become very rinse and repeat. Axel does not
need to prove anything by trying to recreate another Jungle
or another November Rain.

He already wrote those.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Fans should be grateful for anything new that he's willing
to offer. There's a few things there. One I agree with,
where yeah, he's not going to write another Jungle November Rain.
He has this to live up to, which is insane.
Even if the new band got together released a brand
new song written in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty six,

it's gonna be compared to when Izzy was in the band.
It's gonna be compared to appetite, you know it is,
So this is just what we're getting. However, I don't
want to be like you know, Oliver Twist. Oh please, sir,
I'm so grateful, you know, for this crumb. So it's
it does get frustrating where like Okay, why that's the
slow release of two songs? Why is that happening? Where

there will the leaked audio axel of where is this
business plan? There's a lot of stuff that you could
get frustrated by, and maybe being a dad is to
soften me. You know, I'm just not gonna get it
can get to me, but it's not gonna be my
first instinct anymore. Just I remember, I don't know, it's

so funny to think about, like five years into this reunion.
Now it's ten into this union, but I remember five
years into it, Slash said something about we haven't been
in a room together, and I guess got so annoyed
by that at the time, I admit it. I'most like,
really like, how do you are you not in a
room together? Because I don't want to believe that this
is a look. Money wakes makes the.

World go around.

I'm not gonna get into anybody's pockets whatever, But I
firmly believe that this is more than just a cash
grab and a reunion of just financial reasons, you know
it just it just seems like it's more than that.
I'm sure that's a very big reason and benefit to it,
but I just don't.

Would have it would have gone on this long if
they genuinely like being around each other at least, Why
that hasn't translated into the studio. As far as completely
new music, you know, new without the ish attached to it,

and everyone guns and Roses for the new music because
it's the music is It's been hard to get out before, Like,
why has it been so difficult?

And it's not that great of a place to see
a band. It's just a big football stadium and that's

a New Tristate area. It just happens that. It's not
that of expecting anything like, you know, like a carnival
or anything. It's just I want to if we're gonna go,
because New Jersey is a bit of a depending upon
traffic is traveling, let's actually travel. Let's let's drive a
couple hours, Let's drive a few hours. My wife is
always down to do that, to travel and everything. That's

why we we went to Hershey Park. We went to
to Baltimore that year. She's like, we didn't get to
go see them in Chicago because of the pandemic. She's like,
let's go see them three times. I'm like, really, maybe
we'll do the same this year. But Saratoga presented itself.
Maybe Hershey Park again, take a baby Brownstone to Hershey
Park itself. But the fact that I get to take

my son the Guns of Roses. Look, I know by
the time it happens is he's gonna be three. Whether
or not he has the memory of it, I don't know.
My earliest memory is four years old, my brother Tristan
coming home. I'm the oldest of four, and my mom
gave me a race Dance ray from The Ghostbusters Dan

Ackroid's character but the cartoon version of action figure in
our house in Baldwin Harvard, New York. I remember, that's
my first memory. Ever, So could Harrison's first memory be
of a Guns of Roses concert? Maybe that would be cool.
We won't know for quite some time. But the fact
that we did it and we got away with it.
In Paul McCartney, we learned a lesson of always have

milk on you. The concession stand stands may not be open,
you know. That was like the one that's the one
thing he didn't like. He's like, he wanted milking and
want anything else. Headphones he had his head the phones.
He was fine when he was old. It got a
little loud with the Pyro, he was awesome. So I
can't wait to see GNR with him and to jump

on more of what age HD said. You know from
from Iowa that you know, I'm appreciative of what they
are giving out. Now, you know, I understand it's been
I get I already covered a lot of the reasons
why some fans are still upset.

It already happened, you know, whether or not you feel
that if he was still in the band or whatever
concoction that you had in your brain of just like
a storyline, you know, Universe, if the two thousand and
six version of GNR stayed together and they put out
more ch on it, whatever version they already put out

Appetite for Destruction. They already put out User Illusion one too.
They put out GNR lies, even the Spaghinnians, and these
are songs that live forever.

They already did it. They were icon their icons are ready.

Yeah, it would be really cool to see if they
kept doing it, to see but as there look at Metallica,
they yeah, they put out some really good music.

And they have.

I'm a big fan of Death Magnetic and that's going.
That's not old, that's not one of the newest, like
even you know, seventy two seasons. They have good stuff
on there. But are any of these songs, any of
the songs are what they make them epic? No, they
already were epic, and yeah, it's all extra, you know

they're there. I use them as the example because they're
more consistent with making new music. But you take away
any of those albums from their catalog, there's still Metallica.
So with Guns or Roses, I don't know. He doesn't
want to put anything out that wants to be forgotten
like that. We could all speculate why hy axels or

if it's all him again, there's there's so many different
layers to this, to the people who make up this bands,
to the band itself. So it's just nice to be
able to talk about new music, new ish music. Let's
just say new music for the sake of argument. Let's
just say it. So nothing Atlas. I enjoyed them.

Slash doesn't know who I am, even though there was
a moment time where he did, because that's how London
when he was fifteen, had to get on, had to
ask his parents' permission. I'm not as important as some
of the things I am. There's the humility that I
want every now and then. I know I ever want

be pushed down. Like Slash doesn't know who I am.

Good makes me feel better about myself. That actually haven't

So I actually I got a a pseudo interview request
by somebody who dated a next girlfriend of somebody in
the satellite world of Guns and Roses, not a girlfriend

was recommended to you. You know, okay, you know, would
you want to do an interview? I dated once, so
and so like ideal, like a good story to tell.
I'm not really into dirt. Oh okay, well, I'm sorry. Actually,
you know, I used to date this person and that's
all I have is dirt. I'm like, all right, well thanks,
but no thanks, I'm sorry. They appreciated that. They're like, yeah,

I was actually uncomfortable. I was recommended to contact you,
you know, by by this other person, and I wasn't
sure I really wanted to talk about it. I'm like, yeah,
then we're not going to talk about it. But we're
just not going to talk about it. So that that's
I'm not here, there's certain that's why certain follow up
questions get missed. I just want to continue enjoying what

I'm doing. My son I can't, you know, I don't
know if he'll be We talks more and more every day.
I don't know if he'll do we'll do a review together,
maybe it'll interview people. These years down the road, so
