Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everyone, and welcome back to Inspiration Moments. I'm your host,
Lynn Coach Austin, and today we're talking about some incredible
life lessons from a trailblazing leader, Justice Katanji Brown Jackson.
She's not just a Supreme Court justice. She's someone who's
tackled self doubt, persevered through challenges, and reached her goals
(00:20):
with an attitude of gratitude. And I think there's a
lot we can all take from her journey wherever we
are on our own pass now. I know we've all
had moments where we feel like we're not quite enough
to be where we are, like somehow we don't quite belong.
Justice Jackson shared that even when she clerked for the
Supreme Court, she wrestled with imposter syndrome, that nagging feeling
(00:41):
that maybe she didn't belong in such a prestigious place.
Her advice don't wait around for someone else to validate
your worth. Instead, celebrate small wins along the way, because
those little victories add up over time and remind us
that yes, we do belong. Here's something we can all
try this week. Think back on your small wins. They
(01:02):
might see minor, but write them down. Did you speak
up in a meeting, finally tackle that project. These are
all building blocks for confidence. Justice Jackson herself kept track
of her own victories and it helped her grow more
grounded in her purpose. Another challenge she shared public speaking.
Justice Jackson admitted she was once intimidated by it, but
(01:25):
she found that the more she practiced, even in small settings,
the more confident she became. So if speaking up in
public feels scary, start with small steps. Share your thoughts
in a tea meeting, join a local group where you
can practice, or simply start speaking your ideas allowed at home.
The more you use your voice, the stronger and more
natural it becomes. And then there's mentorship, something Justice Jackson
(01:50):
deeply values. She credits having strong mentors who guided and
believed in her with giving her strength along her journey.
If you don't have a mentor yet, now's a great
time to one someone who can offer advice, listen and
help you navigate your path. Mentors aren't just there to
give advice, they're there to believe in you when it's
hard to believe in yourself. She also reminded us of
(02:13):
the value of perseverance. Life isn't easy and there will
be setbacks no matter what path we're on, but Justice
Jackson's story shows us that perseverance through the tough moments
is what makes the difference. When we stay the course
and keep pushing forward even when it feels impossible, that's
where real resilience is built. And finally, one of the
(02:34):
most important things she talked about was gratitude. Justice Jackson
said that gratitude keeps her grounded and focused on what
really matters. It's not about ignoring struggles, it's about remembering
the purpose behind them. For her, gratitude is what helps
her stay connected to her why even on the most
difficult days. So let's ask ourselves today, what's one thing
(02:58):
you're grateful for right now? Think about it. Maybe it's
the chance to learn something new, the people who support you,
or even the obstacles that are teaching you something valuable. Gratitude,
when we practice it daily, is a game changer. It
grounds us and keeps us focused on our purpose. Justice
Jackson's journey is a reminder that our own small steps
(03:19):
and simple practices of perseverance, gratitude, and mentorship can help
us move forward in powerful ways. Whether you're just starting
your journey or well along the path. Let these insights
encourage you to keep pressing on and appreciating each step,
and remember every great journey starts with a single step.
Keep moving forward, and never forget that life happens for you,
(03:41):
not to you to live your purpose. Thanks for tuning
in to inspiration moments. I'm Coach Austin. Until next time,
