Speaker 1 (00:00):
Game set and match shut the game? Going to do
it again?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Can I come and stays?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
When cured? O? Good evening, everybody you're here with boys,
get paid, coming at you live from the Export Gardens
Studio for another season of racing. We've already made a mistake.
It's the Export Beer Garden Studio. We are ready to role.
We're really excited about the season coming ahead, and it
(00:30):
is good to have you all here with us as always, Dan,
Luke and Matt for another whole season. It feels like
it's been a while, lads, but it's bloody good to
see you here. Luke, how are your mate? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Really well mate, as always looking forward to seeing some
of these good horses back on the track. I do
feel a little bit rusty. I feel like we're due
a trial, so we'll treat today exactly like that, and
I'm sure we'll be back for some of those Group
one races that aren't too far away.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
That's right to be here, Dan, you haven't even had
a break mate, You've been watching videos or want to mate.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I love horse racing, but I am still treating this
just like a breeze up. I'm just I'm going to
go to the two hundred and maybe just a little
let the rains go a little bit and see how
we go.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah, nice, nice, I have just realized we've got a
different background tonight, lads. Have you seen that last season?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I think it's just a bit high than it normally is.
I can normally see the people sitting out there at
the Acatillo Beach right.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Well, there you go. It's a fantastic view. It's a
really it really is. Look, it's great to have everybody
here with us as always. Tonight we're going to be
going through the Foxbridge Plate. We've got plenty to let
you know about this season as well. We've got some
new additions to the Blessed Bet, and we've got some
new additions to the Best of BGP as well. We
can't wait to let you know who from the BGP
(01:42):
community is going to be sending you some best bets
this season. We're going to find plenty of winners. Stay
with us. We'll come to that at the end. But
obviously hope everyone out there is doing well. No doubt
you've been fired up for this time of the season
because it's been bloody hard over the winter with these
heavy tracks and whatnot, but it is really starting to happen.
So we want to get you getting your comments and
we're going to have a chat at some point about
(02:04):
who's going to win a Group one this season. Dan's
got about fifteen. I think, Luke, you might have scratched
one or two together.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Oh, can we can find one?
Speaker 1 (02:10):
We can file We've got one.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Oh yeah, surely, surely.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
You guys let us know in the comments who you
think is going to win a Group one this season,
and we will get to your comments at some point soon.
But before we get started, Luke, I think one of
the most important things that's happened this winter is that
there's been a tab ad circulating on TVNZ reasonably frequently.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
And I'm not sure if people have seen. Maybe you're
on it, Yeah, yeah, I hear that. There was a
few different variations of it. I was there for filming
for about fucking six hours. It feel like keep getting
pushed to the back because Johnson and the Boys turned up,
and then the Blues Boys, and it was a BGP battler. Maye,
you sit back down and we'll get to you when
we can. So I was sitting on a park bench
and they drop that. Then I'm reading the race formant
(02:54):
to hunch Land, looking around and having a look at
Opie going past than a horse. There's a lot going on,
a bloody ad set, I'll tell you what. Anyway, they
debut it, and I'm just in the background, sitting on
this park bench, and this bus just hits me. So
I'm not really sure. I think I'm gonna pissed someone
off on the set. And yeah, it really wasn't what
I expected. But you won't really see me unless you
(03:15):
are looking out for me. So watch for the bus.
It just collects this guy sitting on a park bench,
and that person on that park bench is myself.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
You seen it, Dan, No, No, I haven't. I've only
seen the I think it's White Tech. Is it singing?
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Singing? I'm gonna win the grip?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
The the what's the.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Swing in the Fox Bridge?
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Yeah, yes, you're right, Yeah, White Tech is in there.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
The AD's coming up left, right and center. I watched
the news these days and it's always on before that,
halfway through that, and after that. So they've done well.
They've got prime time.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
You've never spotted me, and you probably can't remember from
the debut of the video, or the ad from when
they had the launch night too Cave then pretty hot.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
I remember a little bit. Yeah, I was really excited
that Luke was in this ad, and you know they
announced that Luke Kimmy's at this end, I'm yeah, no
one else in the crowd was making any noise. No,
I was like, Oh, what the who's this guy? Where's
he come from?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Can you tell us what you rethink? Mat?
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Yeah? No, Like I was excited and now I still
haven't seen him on the air. But you mate, that's
TV stuff. Yeah, it's absolutely outsteading right. The racing season
has started this year well properly. Yesterday felt like the
season had really kicked off out of Topour and Dan
it sounds like, Mate, you were sitting on the couch
doing some content and looking at the races. Was there
anything that came out of top or yesterday that excited you?
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Alabama last was pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I thought that was a that was a really good win,
but I think it was expected sort of over the
short of trip. I thought the race map well for it,
but gee whiz, when it got to like the one fifty,
it really just sort of like it was a little
bit wobbly, but it kicked away and then just you
really let down really impressively. So that looked really good.
I think the locious I'm not quite sure what happened there,
(04:57):
Like in the barriers, it's sort of got a little
bit upset and banged it banged its nose and got
pulled out and got vet checked and then got cleared
to run and went back in.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, maybe just coming around the corner, it sort of seemed.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
To almost just sort of just float a little bit
and then it didn't really go on with it, but
you know, it didn't lose a huge amount of ground,
but just just didn't really let down.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
So not really sure there. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Sometimes these two year olds, when they have big two
year old seasons, they come first up and they don't
quite perform and it takes in a few runs to
get back into it. So we'll see how that goes.
I thought the the it was Savage Lee that was
quite impressive, and I thought that run away from super
(05:42):
Photon quite impressively. Super Photon sort of maybe didn't enjoy
the track so much. I think a bigger track is
going to suit that really nicely. And it seemed to
sort of really find the line in the last fifty medias.
It seemed to stretch out and go on quite nicely.
So maybe look out for the future for that one.
I think they were having a little bit of a
(06:03):
chat about that one, maybe going over for the Corefield guineas.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
I don't know how they feel after that race, but
it looks like a horse that might suit a big
track like Corfield, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Sop is known to be a little bit of a
tight turning track and that straight can get away on
you pretty quickly as a puntreine and a jockey, you know.
But yeah, I think there's a berg wrap around that
super photon. I don't think the bookies have missed it.
It's pretty tight in all the futures markets, whether that
be Hawks Bay guineas two thousand guineas. McNab sit on
the radio last Saturday when I was on there that
(06:34):
that's his horse that he would like to be on
and to follow, so keep an eye out for That
was a pretty good run. I multi that with Riptech
and Velocious, so I got beat up. Yeah, but look
it happens. It happened one from three. It was.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
A bit of stable chat about one on the day
that I think a few people got paid from was true.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Brian, Yeah, the Tangerine tro Brian, good horse. We've spru
that many times before. But yeah, and too four dollars forty.
I think it might have started a bit longer. Someone
actually messaged me and said four point eight. It started
four point eight. Yeh, I got four point four. Great.
I got a message earlier in the week saying, you know,
in the old DMS, the requests, oh hang about all
we got in here? Another bloke, Oh yeah, awesome, basically saying,
(07:18):
hey me, I've heard a bit of bully for Trabrian.
You and the goat heard anything. I'm like, oh, no,
man heard anything about that. And yeah, look it's fair
to say message back after the race in the head
five hundred large on it. So yeah, and he reckons
go again on skew Whiff. So he's reinvesting. So there
you go. That's the mail from the requests and the DMS.
That's bloody interesting about skew Whiff.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
I mean, it's nice that you got one out of that,
because there's so many messages that come through that this
horse is going to win and this horse isn't going
to win, and you know when they actually do win,
it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Oh someone told me I was ill say it a
count for not putting all the Punters Club on Electric Star.
You know I've heard it all. Oh I'm meant top
four mate, you know I mean oh yeah, okay, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
You're bringing up memories of our Alley can an't you.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Sold? Recently?
Speaker 1 (08:07):
They don't want a Group one this season, won't it?
Are we getting to that?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I think it might be retired right, might have a
little Elie Kitten or our Eli pussy gun around at
some stage.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Anyway, that's enough about horse racing. We have talked about
horse racing. Although we're obviously here for the horse racing,
we're obviously here for the community as well. Let's rip
in on what's going to happen this season. Hopefully everybody
that's out here listening is really looking forward to what
BGP has got coming up. There's plenty going on as always.
Even though there's been a little bit of a breakover
(08:39):
winter doesn't mean that people haven't been doing anything. Luke
and Dan particularly been working bloody hard on what's coming
up this season. We've been in touch with the tab
would in touch with Ted go everyone, we all know
what's going on. So I suppose just to kick things
off with the podcast, we're we're not going to be
here every single week, but we're going to be here
at least for the big weekends. But what will be
happening every week is the Best of BGP and Luke,
(09:02):
we've got some additions this season, mate, it's going to
be huge.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Yeah, we certainly do so. I guess last week it
just felt like the season started early and we went
week to weekend. By about May or April, we're thinking,
holy shit, we've done just about nine months of podcasting
week to week. So we're gonna miss some of the
weeks where the racing isn't it as exciting, but we'll
still record a best of BGP on those days. We're
(09:27):
going to have a fresh new backdrop for that, but
we won't reveal that yet. You can wait and see
once that comes to air. But there's also a fair
bit of chat in the harness community, and those boys
have been tipping really well, so we'll say, well, why
don't we do a little bit more in the harness
space as well. So not only are we going to
have a regular Best oft BGP with some of the
people that you've come to get familiar with in the community.
(09:50):
There's going to be an introduction of the best from
the Harness Boys as well, and we believe that that
will be played out across the Friday Night Lights, which
is not Ina Gig, it's the show on track side
on a Friday night covering Alexander Park and Eddington Raceway.
So the rac man is fired up for that because
he loves tipping Merlin and judgment Bay and yeah yeah
(10:17):
look at run second the other day and what else
to be back on the race by Grins evening copy
of that copy that will be going around.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Cyrus No, we had can go and stop dreaming.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Both top four. They that's it. They got us out
of jail. Yeah, so yeah, a fear bit more for
the harness community as well.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, outstanding, and we will get to who's going to
be sending out some of those tips too, But you're
not going to be there for the best first Best
of BEGP loops, So Dan and I are going to
be doing it. And Dan made a really good point,
I'm going to have to make a tip for the
Harness mate, brilliant.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
Yeah, No, you'll be right, mate, You'll be right.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Gonna have to call it buddy, Matt Cross and let
me know what's going on. It's the way anyway. The
events this season as well as always, there's going to
be plenty going on penty for people to get along
to and Dan, you've been right in the thick of
things making sure that we know what's going on, who's
doing what and where people need to get to, mate,
So yeah, let us know what's hamming.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Well, we've got a fair bit going on, but I
think we sort of really narrowed it down the season
for our key events that we want to target. I
think there's probably going to be a few more things
that pop up throughout the season and see if we
can do a few other things. But I think in
the short term anyway, the big ones are the Everest,
so Everest Allesley Race Day, so we're going to be
on course at Alsie. Hopefully we're going to be up
(11:29):
in that top room. Peter up if you're listening, mate,
we haven't sorted it out, yeah, but maybe we'll see.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
You next week and figure that out.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
But we're going to bring back the King of the
punt that's right, which is something that we've done a
few years ago. But basically we're going to be inviting
everyone along into the room at Alsie. We haven't quite
figured out the logistics for how much it's going to
cost the interior of that stuff, but that's that's just happen.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
We're worry about that in the future.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
But we're basically going to do a punting competition and
we're going to figure out who the best punter is
in BGP. So there be tickets to come along to
the event. Will make the punting competition accessible for everyone,
So it's you know, it's not going to be fucking
ten grand intel. We're going to make it accessible to everyone.
We're going to get a huge amount of people along
in the room and just have a blast and see
if we can figure out who the best punter is
(12:13):
in BGP. It's an opportunity to take on the likes
of the Goat and Ted and Kimmy's and Matt Davis
that I think you'll be having a crack and a
few are ye.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Look, we've done this before, having we leave you. I
think the way back in the day.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Twenty nineteen might have been when we first had a
crack at it in the last time pro the pandemic
as well. But basically you start with a nominal amount.
Everyone starts with the same amount on a bidding voucher
and then it's your job to try and turn that
into the most and the person who wins gets obviously
all the funds that they collect, but then there will
be prizes as well throughout the day and for the
(12:47):
winning punter. So the final race to have a bit
on will be the everest, so you're going to try
and knock their bastard off and everybody else in the
room as well.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Win I win, We're going to talk about that tonight.
That was a fantas plastic day last year down at
switch Shop with the A C, C and the TA
B and everybody involved. So this year doing it again.
I when I win, the intain tab have got them there.
It's going to be that's yea. Even even if you
don't win the punting competition, it's going to be a
bloody good thing to be involved with.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
And then to back that up, we're going down a
Cup Week. Oh baby, have a big one. So the
Cup Week Punters Club is backed by popular demand. I've
heard it was one of the most successful Punters clubs
dollars wise.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
There's a real doozy that Punters Club also real doozy,
and I think I remember they run the races on
the Monday and a few of the bets that got
refunded seemed to fucking pissing as well, didn't they, So
it could have got a lot worse from the team.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
I mean, it sounds like a conspiracy. Probably wasn't, but
like it sounds like it.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
I'm sorry out.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
There was Alvin or Totong or something like that.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Oh mate, that the one we did back and it
got smacked off.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
But Cuple Week this year, so there's going to be
a few things. So we're going to be down there
doing content from the Tuesday onwards and I think the
plan is that we're going to have a bit of
an early week fill up where hopefully we're going to
be throwing out a few tips and potentially some boosted
runners on the Tuesday and the Wednesday for people to
sink their teeth into, and then the Punters Club is
going to start from Thursday, so we're going to do
(14:17):
Ashburton Harness, the Dogs Friday Harness and then into the
gallops on Saturday and see if we can have a
fill up for everyone with the Punters Club, Is that right?
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yes? And Friday morning we're going to go to the
cast and see if we can double it on Roulette.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Oh good, Yes, Daki's coming and he's going to Jack
and we'll just send it.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Yeah, we haven't got that ticked off yet, but look,
that'll be in the conditions, so make sure you read
the tea's and c's. But yeah, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and
looking to it to do an event on each of those.
And I believe that the Friday Harness is now a twilight,
so we'll be able to get stuck into the Dogs.
The good thing is that we haven't even organized any
of this with any of the clubs or locked in
rooms or we've got tickets or anything. We're just going
(14:54):
around saying it, so we're better bloody pull it off.
But yeah, the dogs are a great night out. On
the Thursday, we'll have Cowborn incognito doing a few tips
down there and basically clean up on the Thursday, and
we would have already made some up the harness from
how well the harness boys are tipping. We'll then wake
up a little bit dusty Friday, get ourselves right, head
along to the harness, clean them out there as well.
(15:17):
Watch what's that blue horse that the worst goes around? Cyrus? No,
not Cyrus, this time it'll come to me. It'll come
to me anyway, and then get stuck into the big
day of racing as well on the Saturday. Now some
people are like, oh, we'll do an event on the Saturday.
Pretty hard to do an event on that day because
the day sails out and so there's not rooms we've
tried before, and you have a couple of car parks
(15:37):
and stuff, and you know, it's just a little bit
tricky to work with. So yeah, we'll be putting something
together for the community on the Thursday and the Friday
for those people who are traveling from out of christ
Church or those people who are in the South, we'd
love to see you there. And yeah, the Pundus Club
will be in full force and the Pundas Club will
look a little bit different this year as well, because
obviously in Tain have now moved, you know, the betting platform,
(16:01):
so it won't be how it is. And as we
get closer I'll be able to explain more. But basically,
at a very high level, you'll be able to enter
the Pundae Club via the tab and then when we
put a bit on, you actually get a notification from
the tab that the Pundice Club has had a bit
as well, So it won't just be sort of on
us to rush to go right tab over to our app.
(16:22):
But that said, we are working on some advancements to
the BGP app as well, and I'll come to some
of those a little bit later as we go, because
there's a bit there too.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Absolutely, as always, there's going to be a bit. Even
though these events aren't organized two years, we know that
people turn up and we'll all be.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
There and pressures on over the next two weeks try
and organize some of these events.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
I yes, good man, mate, you'll be on fire. Look
have they signed you up for another Karaka Millions special
yet that obviously last year you were the face of
the Karaka Millions we're going to be there again this year?
Are you going to be the face of it again?
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Look? When you lose half million dollars two years in
a row, mate, you know it's I'll probably not really the.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Pin up guy, depends what way you're looking at me.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah, well that's true. Yeah, look, we haven't thought that
far ahead, but that's going to be a big day
of racing, as it always is, and we're looking forward
to getting our ticket ready for that and you know,
we've got some different ways to play that day. And
you know, the thing that we want to be encouraging
people to be thinking about too, is that there's a
lot of excitement around racing this season and last season.
(17:20):
I think we need to build on it. So a
little while ago we had a campaign bring a Mate
hashtag bring a Mate, and it was about bringing someone
new to the sport, and we're going to go the
same thing this year. We'll change it up to take
a mate, but we'd love to see people take a
mate that's never been to the races before, or it
could be getting along to a twilight or even just
a day out at Harvard or on a Thursday, how
lo a bloody day out that is, But just take
(17:42):
somebody to the races, whether it's a mate who's been
before or someone that's never been before, and just get
them in the mix, because I think this is the
time to try and introduce people to racing to see
because there's just more going on, there's more excitement, there's
stake increases. Jockey's a happier, trainers are happier. It's a
recessionary time out there, and racing has been pretty well protected.
So let's bloody ensure that we do our but to
(18:03):
get in behind it and throw a party and show
some of our mates what actually happens behind some of
the gates of these racing clubs.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I was gonna say, and you know, at these events,
if you're bringing a mate along, like come and bring
them up to us and introduce them and say, hey,
this is my fucking mate, Steve. I've just you know,
there's the first race meeting that had been too love.
We would love to have a chat and say fucking yeah,
come on, like try and get them involved and get them,
get them, get them hooked on the racing game. I think,
you know, for us, that's that's really exciting to have
(18:33):
someone come along. We want to make sure that they
have a good time. So yeah, like bring them along
and tell us, tell us that you brought a mate.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Yeah, and get their address. You know, we can send
sign them up for you tab account. Get that bonus
bear them how to hunt.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
That's we were watching the UFC on Sunday. We were
lucky enough to be invited to the bitch at launch,
which was at the morning side. Tevin fantastic afternoon and
you made a comment look because I was I'd never
really watched you've seen, and I was like, shit, this
is really exciting. I love that. And you see something
about Ain't and White having said just get If I
can just get somebody to come and watch UFC, they'll
(19:04):
be hooked. I feel like it's the same with horse
racing game.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Yeah, for sure. I actually had a maid of mine
who came along and he came to the Derby a
number of years ago and he was just like wow,
that was epic and enjoyed the Karak and millions as well.
And then he's moved back to the UK and he
messaged me the other day and he was like, mate,
went to the races for the first time over here
since I've been back. And he's like, I made sure
I wore my BGP pin and you know, so it is.
(19:27):
It is cool what racing can actually do for people,
and it's not just about get there and keep hunting
and that's not what we're talking about. We're now, let's
just actually come and see the sport and see some
of our some of the best jockeys in the world
competing against each other, and the comaraderie and the community
and the people you can meet and ship this Brendan
Lindsay over there, and oh, there's Rod Stewart over there,
(19:49):
Brent Cooper. Literally, Yeah, there's just some great people in racing.
And I think if we can just get people a
little bit closer to it, they'll realize, oh shit, like
I've been missing out a little bit. Here is this
is a lot of fun. And then they might organize
the stag doo there, the corporate party there, et cetera.
And it's a it's a very accessible sport, and I
think a lot of people just don't understand that.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
I have the perfect example of that. So I had
a meeting the other day with like a you know,
I guess a friend, but like a professional colleague that
I that I work with. He came along to the
Warriors and that that's where I sort of caught up
with him. I didn't seen him in a while, and
I was chatting to him the other day and he goes, mate,
he goes, when are you guys doing your next event?
And I said, oh, mate, I've got all the dates hair,
(20:28):
and he goes, that's perfect. Like there's forty of us
that want to come along from work. All the guys
love it. They love a punt, love a bear. That'll
be perfect, Like we'll come along to like the Kraka
millions or one of the other ones, but just like
that perfect thing where like they came along, they enjoyed
it and they're like, oh, shure, we'll do this for work,
like we'll get the crew along.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Here is email address, And that's what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Like quarriors when people are standing around watching the horses
and friends go, what are we on? What are we
betting on? What are we betting on? Everyone just wants
to have a crack at it and have a good
time together. And if it doesn't win, it, it doesn't win.
But that kind of.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Yeah, it's a community piece and people are looking forward
to being a part of something and yeah, we've all
going to play our role in that. So let's get
some people who've never been before to catch the bug
as well.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Absolutely, and of course we've got the Kiwi this season, which, yeah,
this is quite far out, so we don't really have
a lot to sort of know about there yet. But
Luca mentioned a little bit a bit, but like a
Kauka Millions type of inter.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Game, you're massive day racing to really sort of start
to round out the season. You know, by the time
we get to March, I think a lot of people
have sort of summer out and they've done their gigs,
and they've done their travel, and they've done Christmas and whatnot,
and so it can be a hard time to get
people back and get them right into party mode. But
I think this is going to be a hell of
a party in the nine in Auckland here. When you're
racing with the Derby, the Derby, the Auckland Cup, the
(21:44):
Kiwi as well, there's going to be plenty of cash
to be one on the day million dollars.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
And ye if you've partied in Vegas for five days
and you've rolled into the Kiwi as well, yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
You bloody we'll be feeling chipper as putting American dollars
into the Punters Club or nothing at all.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
I feel like I might have a fair bit of
add and you do rolling back in from Vegas.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
You may do, you may definitely do. But as long
as we're alive for that Saturday morning, you're going to
have to make a few punts because there'll be a
punters club.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Yep, yep, we'll get into a pundas club on that day.
The racing's too good, not too so. Yeah, I guess
the key thing is get these dates in the calendar.
Were sent out some dates and they were wrong, but
that's right, Well, a little bit rusty, like I said,
we'll correct those. We send them back out again tomorrow.
But people sort of figured out, oh that's Sunday, you know.
So yeah, get these key dates into the calendar, and
make sure you're telling your neighbors to feed your cat
(22:35):
if you're having to leave town or whatever, and your
wife or your husband or whatever you do in these
days that you're not going to be home because she's
going to be a late one.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Absolutely, it's very, very exciting. As always, there is plenty
to look forward to in terms of the events. Keep
your comments coming in out there, everybody. We want to
know who is going to win a group one this season.
We will have a chat about that soon. But just
to quickly around out the other things which are happening
this season. Looke the app updates mate, we haven't seen
them yet.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
No, so in progress at the moment, and basically we're
trying to like it needs to be smoothed out anyway,
So as part of that, we're trying to do some
things that are going to give you a little bit
more access to information. So one of those things, for example,
is trying to embed the Facebook group tips into the app,
so you'll be able to go in there and see, okay,
Gaso's tip one. For instance. We're going to have more
(23:24):
of it, the best of BGP the Blessed Bet for example,
and you're going to be able to go click right
and then that will load you up into the tab app.
The same thing with Ted's you'll look at his race
form and go okay, well actually like the horse that
he's tipped here, You'll click on that and that will
load up into your bet slip. Even ways to put
the excuse me a multi together. We're even looking at
(23:46):
ways to start doing voice updates out of the app,
so that if we're getting some bully and we're hearing
from someone, we can actually record a bit of an
audio and punch that out or even punch that out
as part of a Punter's Club update as well of
like okay, here's why we're having a crack at this.
So yeah, there's there's quite a bit to this update
and upgrade. We've taken all of the feedback that everybody
put onto the posts and into the Facebook group. Instead
(24:08):
of start there, have a look at what's possible, what's
not possible, what creates a bit too much admin, So
trying to just tick off what we can actually do,
but hoping that you know, in the next couple of
months we will have something in front of people for
them to be able to test and just making your
experience with BGP a little bit smoother and looking forward
(24:29):
to seeing it get rolled out.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Mate. It's so good thinking about the community, thinking what
or how information and how the community can can stick
together and look at things and have things more easily accessible.
That's absolutely outstanding as always, So keep your eyes peeled
for that, Dan rack Mate. You're you're having a sort
of quiet summer outside of work, so you're going to
(24:51):
be ripping into a lot more content and giving people
some more information.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Yeah, while we try my best, So I've been fortunate
enough to take on a little bit more responsibility, responsibility
at BGP, and I'm hoping to just start trying to
do think, you know, a few different things and just
share some insights and different things that I can I
think one of the things that I'm quite keen to
do is to do like a little bit of a
recap of the weekend, which is one of the things
(25:17):
I think maybe it would be valuable. We're going to
have a whole lot of best bets from both the
harness and the thoroughbreds over the weekend, and I think
it'd be quite cool just to have a little bit
of a chat about thoughts and feedback on how things gone.
And there might even be some different things that maybe
the guys notice over the weekend of runners that maybe
run quite well that could be black bookers that we
(25:39):
could look at and follow up in the future, as
well as just maybe trying to do a few different
things as well.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
We've got one league.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Yeah, quarter of a horse captav on winning, Yeah, you're
onto it, and so yeah, I'd like to think that
maybe we can do a little bit with that as well.
But I think some of the other things that I've
noticed where people have been asking for some different types
of content, Like I think I'm just quite keen to
just go bowl around different places and sort of get
(26:08):
some more insights on what actually goes into horse racing,
like what do they what what does the strap do? Like,
what do they actually do, like apart from just sort
of fucking throwing a youre throwing the saddle one and
sort of whack it on the button send it out.
I don't know, they probably do a lot more than
they you know, they're probably tiding up the hooves and
doing well. I've got no idea what goes into it,
but would be quite cool to just go and sort
of get an idea and go figure out what happens,
(26:29):
like what happens during the week or what happens on race.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
I've got no idea.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
Like with a lot of that stuff, I think it's
quite interesting information to sort of pass along. So yeah,
I'm quite interested in going out and just sort of
figuring that out.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
You know, you mate, Yeah, she's hopefully the horse racing
fraternity accommodating. There's a few strappers out there that can
do say strapac it is racing. We can boats back,
but yes we did take twenty five percent in a
horse so that we can document a little of the
journey as it heads towards the sales in January. We
(27:02):
did that a number of years ago and we syndicated
some of that out. We're not going to do that
this time, just to keep the ab been down, but
we'll be doing a bit of storytelling of this is
a wheeling and it goes to the sales and south
so that people can sort of see what actually goes
on to get a horse ready for the sales, and
then hopefully we can follow that horse's journey into racing
as well. So Adrian Stanley has been very accommodating down
(27:24):
there at Woburn Farms. We'll get down there at some
stage as well. So captav out of Distinction. Yeah, so
we've nicknamed that one one League because we've got one
league in the horse and hopefully it can run like
it's got five And some of bids and bars.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Should have put in the contract that it has to
be called one Leg when it sells or whatever happens
to it. That's a great name.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, were smart for Amy's planning on buying it. Be
smart for a syndicated to buy it and then call
it that and then get BGP racing. It wouldn't it if.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
You're a Ford thinker.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Look, you're going to be out here trying.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Mate's going to get Daniel nicklayers around mention goodness, gracious, no,
good stuff, lads. It's outstanding, Dan. Some of the stuff
you've been pushing out has already been fantastic, mate, So
looking forward to the rest of the stuff that you've
got coming out. Good on your mate, you rip into
it right, all of that combined, lads, I want to
(28:16):
know what you guys are looking forward to the most
of this season. Obviously there's some fantastic things coming up for BGP,
there's some fantastic things coming up for the Auckland Thoroughbred
Racing Club, all of the clubs all around New Zealand.
It's going to be a hell of a season. There's
some fantastic horses that New Zealand's got going over to
Australia racing in New Zealand. Out of any of that, Max,
what's the one thing, Luke that you're looking forward to
(28:36):
the most, Mate.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yeah, I'm really interested to see. I'm a little bit
of a geek. I'm interested to see how well we
keep the momentum this season with racing, just with how
tricky it is out there and how exciting it was
last year, and do we build on that? Do we
bring you people in? And I just felt like last
season went so quickly. But I think with that season
(28:57):
under the belt, with Intain sort of being here and
stamping the mark of like, no, these are the things
we want to focus on, that it might just have
a bit more of a snowball this year as well.
And Yeah, I think we've just got to strap in
and enjoy the ride because there's so much racing. There's
going to be so much exciting stuff, and I think
partners will have to be smart to keep their powder
(29:18):
dry and make sure that they're betting smart and whatnot,
because she's gonna be a long season. But you're not
gonna want to be on the sidelines for some of
those big days. You're gonna want to be there. You
at least gonna want to have the big Saturday on
or listening to the content or tuning it and or
make sure you're streaming it when you're out on the
golf course and just actually keeping an eye because I
think we're going to see some very special performances this season.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Yeah, yeah, I'm really interested to see I've moved to strike. No, no,
I'm actually Probably the thing that I'm most looking forward
to is Champions Day. We've never had a race day
like that in New Zealand before the four Group ones
three and a half million dollars in it'd be kei
we there's like nine million dollars with the races on
(30:03):
that day. It's you know, it's just outstanding. Well, I
don't I remember when we've seen today where we've seen
like sort of the three year olds running over twelve hundred,
three year olds running over two miles, the twenty four
mile and a half, then they're running over the fifteen
hundred we've got. There's all sorts happening on the day
and I'm just interested to see are they able to
(30:25):
reproduce the Karaka millions but for a whole day because
the environment Karaka Millions last year was electric. It was like,
oh shit, this is like Randwick Mini Ramwick vibes. I
was like, oh wow, here we go. Can they recreate
that on Champions Day for the first year. It's going
to be tough, But like there's so much money on
the line. I'm really excited to see how that goes.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
Do you think they will look?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Yeah, I think we're a big chance to get some
Australians over jockeys again. And I think a lot of
the NFL in love with Valosy. For the Kadaka millions,
I think with the stakes increasing, it makes more sense
for them to jump on a plane. I think some
of the horses will be coming over and I think,
you know, we'll see racing fans in Australia go, you
know what, it's only a three hour flight. That's not
that far for them because it can take that long
(31:09):
to get halfway across the country. So they'll start to
see more of it on their screen and go, ship,
we need to go and get a taste of that.
That looks like a hell of a day.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
And Kiwis love a party to a Kiwis make it good,
you know we love Josh.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
I mean sorry to run with parties.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
If we can sell them the Karaka million again and
go shit, look at this, and then they can and
then we can use that and go, well, guess what.
In a couple of months time, there's another one. Do
you want to come. Yeah, it could be smart.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
I agree with all of your thoughts there, lads. I
really love it that you're the big picture thinking, you know,
keeping the momentum going and the sport of racing. Dan's
a real purist about the racing and hoping that they're
you know, looking forward to seeing the horses at the Kiwi.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
You're looking forward to seeing fat boys slip.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
It's along that line. It's along that line. I'm looking
for the party on Ellesley, the Twilight Night, the Twilight
racers are back at that is what I'm talking about.
Those are some of the best nights you could ever
have in your life.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
A The Ellesly Twilight Party on Fridays were Thursdays were Thursdays.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Yeah, so what.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
We're holding out straight?
Speaker 3 (32:10):
We're gonna have to do live podcasts from there then,
by Adam, is that a good?
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Oh god, no, mate, I just want to wrap on.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Toe.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
We'll do some content we are. When I was twenty,
I loved those nights. I hadn't better thing. I just
cruise around the QVA lawn and had a good time.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
You know, it's great looking at all the phillies, were
you Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:26):
Yeah, some of them that was good. There's Bundy good times.
I'm looking forward to that. Right, Let's get into the
horse racing because we do have the entree for the
spring Group one racing season the fox Bridge Plate this week,
which honestly over winter. I'm sure so many people out
there that are listening, and this is sort of the
race that you really look forward to seeing because you
(32:47):
know that it's going to kick the season off. You know,
we've got the Group ones coming down in Hastings over
September and October, and this is where those good horses
start coming out, and Jesus they have come out. This
is a very very difficult field to dissect. By the
looks of things, it looks like even the tab have
found it pretty hard to work out what's going on.
Dragon Ly, last year's winners come out of the race
(33:08):
two years ago. Imperators went on to win a million
Group ones last year. So yeah, this is a really
really good race to to sort of get a handle
on what's going to happen this season, and the Lands've
been having a look at it. So I don't know
who wants to kick off. Lute, you're ready to go.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
I reckon, Dan's probably done the most form will let
him go and then we'll wind up let him go.
In eight minutes we'll chime.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
In, yeah, shit, this is a fucking tough for us
at race e. So originally when I first looked at
I looked at Bonnie Lass, but then I thought, well,
she's had three goes on a heavy track and never won,
so I thought, okay, well we'll get out of there.
And then I thought, well, Master Fagoes are right as well.
But I just thought last two weeks ago ru a
(33:52):
Carco against crow Chitty, I think year eight kilo swing,
so it was like fifty two kilos to sixty kilos
crow Chitty, and maybe Croachitty's just an absolute freak and
that's why he didn't get beaten.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
But it just sort of put me off a little bit.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Drawn eleven and maybe not. And then Mustang Valley three
dollars fifty top three. It's ad eleven starts on heavy
tracks for six wins and four seconds, so it's only
been out of the top three once on heavy tracks,
which is ridoonculous. But first ups had six starts for
(34:27):
four seconds, so it's only been out of the top
three twice on first up, and so I thought the
top three at three dollars fifty for Mustang Valley was
really good value. The one that I thought I was
going to have a bet on was Whiteack at eight
(34:47):
dollars to win. I just went back and had a
look at its trial again. I think it was who
was it behind? Was it behind?
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Not sure mate?
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Fuck, I can't remember, but it trailed behind Legato. No,
it was behind Legata because Legado trialed really impressively. But
Whyttak actually came from near last and just traveled on
the bridle really nicely right through the line. And interestingly
he has had two starts for one win on the heavy,
(35:19):
but first up he's had four starts for a win
and a third, and so in the distance he's had
four starts for two wins. But I remember there was
that slight off track at Pukakoe. Where was that the
railway where he won?
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Yeah, on boxing day?
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah, And that track was like quite off that day.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
There was like sort of almost like a you know,
a fast lane up the middle of the track, but
it was definitely not a good track. It was like
an off track that day, and he seemed to get
through the ground really nicely. That day, and I feel
that that was relatively fresh up for him, like it
wasn't you know, it wasn't deep into a campaign. So
I'll take waytack. He's drawn thirteen. I know he's going
to get back. I'm hoping that by the time they
(36:00):
get to that race, all the jumpers and all the
other horses have chewed up the inside and he's going
to get down the outside and bowl over the top
of them.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
At eight dollars. So your top pick is White Tech, Yeah,
I know, I've been through a few there. Yeah, I
just love Christian top pick Why Tech.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
I think Mustang Valley top three three dollars fifty I
think is good value as well.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
I reckon that's overs I do think the horny thing
about the season too, is that the same race multis?
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Oh yeah, what if you like?
Speaker 2 (36:29):
I just priced out Why Tech to run top four
and Mustang Valley, and I think you're getting around seven
dollars both of those top four. Oh horny, Yeah, it's
not bad, is it? So? Look? I mean the one
you've probably missed out there. I thought Sacred Setono trialed
very good, goes very good first up as basically four
from four first up and we know performs on a
(36:50):
heavy track is four from four at the at the
track at Tadapa as well, So barrier ten got to
be interesting to see where everything settles up. I think
there'll be a pretty genuine tempo with some of these
horses in here. And when I first looked at this,
it's like, holy shit, how is master fey ten dollars?
When I first looked at it? But I don't know,
it doesn't fail you of confidence that there's this chat
(37:12):
abound chat around it wanting a good track, for instance.
But you know the horse you have touched on there
that I think is just going to absolutely love this
wet track and trialed fairly well from what I saw,
and we know goes okay at Tarapa and loves the
heavy track is Mustang Valley. And I almost made Mustang
(37:32):
Valley top four my bet of the week. So that's
what I'm going to be having a crack at in
this race, Mustang Valley to run top four. But I
do think that sacred to Tono, the odds are most
probably right, and the bookies are, you know, keeping this
one at at guard as such, and four bucks is
probably a pretty fear price there in the market.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
Ran second last year Scou skewif nine dollars a d
eight dollars. It might just be because Dragon Leap has
come out of the race, but no interest from other
you fellas in Skew with with OPI on board, Well.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
I think Karen Fentanelas said Skew with so I mean cheap.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, yeah, four starts, four starts first up, it's yeah, placed,
I think that's about it from the floor, but like
I mean, those those will undo you all the time.
Drawn barrier one as well. It's gonna be interesting to see,
like how heavy is this track. I just think if
it's if it's sloppy airs, you might just see those
Mustang Valuy boys up in the stand absolutely giving it
(38:34):
one and sneaking this. But yeah, I think that that's
definitely at a great quote. You probably want to watch
these first few races see how much they're getting into
this track as well, see how cuy it is, and
see how much rain actually ends up coming.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
I think that's the reason why it's at eight bucks
because of the barrier barrier one.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
I think, yeah, by the time you get to race eight,
is that going to be the best place to be.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
I don't know, never Opie knows what he's done.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Never a fan favorite. We've probably never bet on it
when it's actually one. But Bonnie Lace is the favorite.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, yeah, I've completely missed it. Evan or poor Jesus
Rodge Stewart's getting bloody Heaveny.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
It's a bloody good horse, and it's a really, really
good sprinter. But I was kind of the same as
you guys. I'm not sure why I just didn't warm
to it.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
You can make a case for a lot of these, right,
and I do think that they seem fairly confident about
this this horse. I mean it drifted down a little
bit three point nine out to four point four back
to four now, but girls to pay the bills. They
know what they're doing, and the horse will be in
the race for a long way. I'm just going to
go something a little bit rougher nice.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
I struggled as well, but I thought that if the
track is going to be heavy, which it really is,
Mustang Valley could actually be a really good wind bet
at twelve dollars still as well in top four to
two dollars sixty when it's heavy. That horse has one
group ones and beaten all of the best horses in
New Zealand on a heavy track. So if it's genuinely heavy,
it's supposed to potentially rain it around lunchtime on Saturday too.
(39:58):
That just brings the horse into it even more. And
if it it won't be paying twelve bucks, so it
might be worth a crack. I do like Master Fay,
but I didn't know about the heavy track chat. But
I thought, you know, even though Crochetti, who knows how
good it's going to be, and it was. It was
a different way. The way that those two horses at
Rukaka are like win at each other and there's snouts
pointing out are really really wanting to win? I just thought, shit,
(40:18):
you know, not many horses that horses actually really have
the will to win like that. So I thought it
was good value like that.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
You know, it's had that run under its belt. It's
a sort of horse that could win. And you go,
how did that pay eight bucks on the day and
win the And I haven't got on it's the only
horse that sort of had a genuine race day tickle
up as well, So yeah, I mean it could sneak
under the guard, yeah yeah, And yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Before the odds came out, I thought Sacred Setano, but yeah,
three dollars ninety eer Cent's favorite. Now, yeah, I don't
know anything could win that race. Is there anything at
long odds that you guys are looking forward to seeing
in terms of those Group ones coming up? Like Sharp
and Smarts at thirty five, Puntura, who had a really
good season last year, is it thirty four dollars? Mellie
Stone ran some places in Group ones twenty seven dollars.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
Yeah, I thought, like, you know, Sharp and Smart, it's
the sort of horse that you just you just give
up on the horse and then on Saturday you could
just end up being like, oh of course, yeah, of course,
you know, first up as well, a pretty good record
doesn't mind a heavy track like like stad Arpa and
Kelly Myser's riding in Hothart form. Good to have her
flying back in the saddle and you just go like,
(41:26):
how have I missed that? Pink? Seven bucks a place
and it trailed all right as well, But you can't
like it's so hard. There's so many chances.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
At the start of last season we were talking about
Sharp and Smart as one of the best horses in
New Zealand if not the best horse in New Zealand.
It didn't have a very good season, but it came
off the back of a three year old season where
it raced and bloody every single race there was to go.
Roger was looking at sending Itt to Hong Kong and
all sorts.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
It was just all on.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Maybe it's had a little bit of a quiet winter
and it didn't race so much last summer, and who
knows that happens.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
You know, like going from the three year olds and
stepping up to the four year olds can sometimes be
quite a difficult transition. And then you see some of
these horses come back at five and they've just sort
of grown.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Up a little bit more, their bones got a little.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Bit stronger, and they just start to really deliver, So
that that could be one of these ones. But yeah,
I think if I look forward to the future, I'm
not sure if there's anything in here that I go, oh.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
This is going to win, like a Coxplaate or something
like that.
Speaker 1 (42:18):
No, agree, because Britogeny is going to win.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Is the first futures tip, ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
Dan's going Loos going Mustang Valley. I'm going a Combo
of Mustang Valley and Master Faye. Good luck out there.
If you guys having a crack, we are going to
get to your comments very quickly or very shortly. Let
us know what. Who is going to win a group
one this season? I want to hear from the lads
first futures, spring bets and who's going to win a
group one this season?
Speaker 2 (42:45):
All right? Well, Snazzy Tevy of course, probably win every
group one. And course for the black Book horse called
chiavari c h I A V A R I Is
that marsh No One of the coals. Yeah, take an
eye on that and chuck it into the black Book.
Not sure where it is at the moment, but chia
(43:06):
vari one to follow for sure.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
Okay, well I will throw one out there to win
the Coxplate broadsiding. Really good two year old last year
and it really came out of the scene and just
start fucking telling him up, left, right and center, this
is a good horse. And I'm really interested to see
how this goes as a three year old. I've seen
Jamie Carr the other day putting a hand up and
saying I would love to ride this horse in the
(43:29):
Coxplate because of course it's going to be at forty
nine and a half kilos or something and j Mack
cannot get down that way. Yeah, so Jamie Carr might
be stepping up and saying hello, I have a bit
of that. So twelve dollars for the coxplate. Of course,
prior to Jenny's going to be really of them. He's
going to be some veras esteem. There's some really good
horses in there. But I just think the twelve dollars
is overs and I think that we can take a
(43:51):
little bit of that. The other one that I think
is gonna win a group one this season, there's a
little bit left field Niffetti.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
I've seen that troll the other day and it looked big,
powerful and strong, and I don't know when it's going
to group win a group one, but I reckon it's
going to win. It's gonna win a group one this season.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
I like it. Do they have that option where you
can pick a horse to win a group one? I
was looking for it.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
I'm going to put it out again, the fitty We
sure be one hundred and one.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
If you're listening to a b put us up a
market in the fifty one hundred and one to win
a group one the season. They've got pride of you
to win a group one at a dollar ninety you're
only five, I think four bucks for two more to
the average.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
I I had Snazy Tavy in the little tell them
what you're eating? I thought Pearl of Alsace is going
to win a Group one this year, isn't it nice?
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Hurrican stick with stick with? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (44:40):
Yeah, yeah. I thought it was going to win the
New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders last year, but not no good.
I thought Mark Twain was going to win the Melbourne Cup.
That's disappointing.
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Oh yeah, they you just don't do it to us?
Speaker 1 (44:50):
Is when going to win a Group one the Everest,
that's a group one? Move on you did?
Speaker 2 (44:56):
I did see you had some of the Orchestrap back
there to win the Corfield Cup.
Speaker 1 (45:00):
What's going to happen did you? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Out of that not going, but got a refund which
is quite good.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
What's going to happen with Orchestral this season? We talked
about sharp and smart these three year olds that go
to four year olds. Orchestral had a full on season
last year.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
Yeah, well they've they've said that she's going to have
a really light preparation in the spring, so they're going
to really take it easy. So she's only gonna have
a few runs. She tried the other day and she tried, okay,
but yeah, I reckon she'll only have one or two
starts in the spring, and then I think they'll be
aiming for some big targets in the autumn. So I
think they really take it lightly in the spring.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Roger James very good trainer. They'll have it figured out, mate.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
He's just a genius.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Yeah, and always has good glasses. I want to get
a peer.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
He looks so smart, you know when you see him.
When Keisha on the derby, it wasn't even it was
an amazing race, but yeah, he just cruises along. He's
so crude and then he just cried really emotionally.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Loves the restaurant Amano, he told me, but not for Lari.
Well he might like for Lara, but not just to
throw in the amountatop bringing up.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
A great restaurant.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
Hey horsely forgot to mentioned the mask rows. Oh yeah, gee,
whiz you run out of bloody Christmas wrapping paper? The
number of wraps this horse has got. They reckoned better
than probably what we did not even say that it
ran third in the Kadaka millions, isn't that?
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Didn't it just run in at Caulfield last week in
the mask Groves.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Oh, there's a Bleitacher Star Bellatrick Star was okay, I
was going to say, ship there went under my gage?
Speaker 1 (46:24):
So where does this come from?
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Uh? I just you know, a few dams and once
it done to create this hype. I think just the
hype leading into the Kadaka millions. Look, I think this
is what Clayo was telling me on the radio last Saturday.
There was cheat you better than better than probably. I'm like, jeep,
it's creepers. But anyway, I think it might be six
bucks to win a thousand guineas.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
I've heard.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
I've heard a bit of a chat about someone else
one in a thousand guineas.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Oh, okay, we're going to have too many futures bits,
aren't we. Right, Let's let's get to the community and
see what everybody's thinking. Geez, we'll give it to get
both by the time we get to week three, right,
who's going to win a greet one at them? So
there's a few one here. I figure from the top.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
We've got geriatrics therein on how well it's doing in Queensland.
I've got Grikeetie wins the Tarzino surely from Caleb seems ambitious.
Jolly star here from Tony as I keep going down.
This hurts for Tyrone. He just got boned on a
(47:22):
full league multi. That hurts mate, Yep, very specific.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
We've got met here with Rocket rif Rocket Matt Hill
from Melbourne again it is Matt Hill.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
And we have Hamish for champions to win the liver
Moles written read it here first.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
I actually have a horny futures bat shock finishing off
of Campion. So I've gone white Tech to place in
the fox Bridge with fair in the Tarzino. It's the
place loose, snazzy tevy over the mile hour field into
Campionessa all the place. I think I've got one hundred
on here to win fifteen thousand. That's a dan Rax
(48:11):
sort of multi. I'll only get one league. You'll get
down to the last.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Bet of my nose. That's a good malty. It's pretty horny,
isn't It's k go to the Auckland Cup this year
or what's happening.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
Needs to can win anything. Melbourne Cup, any Cup, Mornington Cup,
hardard A.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
Cup, Yeah, fairly one for that naughty six dollars a place?
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Have you won a multi? This one to get down?
It was because we just get it off.
Speaker 2 (48:41):
I'm just I have no I won one. He's six thousand. No,
it was three and a half hours and I think,
oh we turned it down as the missus watching. Hey,
yeah it was fifteen hundred bucks.
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Yeah no, no, I've only won that one. MAULTI I've
just been beaten up on the rest of them. But
I've got a few riding and I'm looking forward to
two thousand and let me fucking are you that liver
them all as well?
Speaker 1 (49:02):
Who are already looking forward to the liver.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
The race where it always drops out and you're like, oh,
there's three good horses in this field.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
You're exp But that's why the livermore futures bitting could
be quite good, and Snazy Tavy at twenty one dollars
could be a great bit because none of those horses
that race on Saturday will be there. They all fall over.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
Didn't you say that Snazzy might be going to not
going to be going there? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (49:24):
Well, that.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
That's sort of the chat that's been going on. That's
not a main name. It's like they're they're they're looking
at you know, some of the two thousand meter weight
for age races over the Christmas New Year's break Listen.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Look, they could fucking change your mind.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
I see snazzy to have you troll the other day,
I'd be putting it straight in the fucking live moll
let me win.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
Come on, give me a chance. Do we have to
train the horse as well? Step at every start?
Speaker 3 (49:42):
The worst thing is they've got it at fucking eighteen,
so it's now twenty one because there's not going there.
Speaker 1 (49:47):
Where's waters? Good question, bloody, I see Bella Waters in
the future. Is Sean?
Speaker 2 (49:54):
It was?
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Was sure, wouldn't it.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
All of a sudden? I'm fired.
Speaker 1 (50:00):
I hope everybody's enjoyed the show. It is great to
have you with us. Thank you very much for your contributions. Everybody,
as always, keep getting in the comments. We're going to
get to the best bets for this weekend, and goodness me,
are we stepping it up this year. We're expanding the
Harness Racing best bets. We're bringing back the regular Gallops
best bets, which hopefully won you plenty of money last year.
(50:24):
We've got an increasing blessed bet as well. So let's
get started with the Blessed bet for this weekend.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
Yeah, Dan will read out the blessed bets and then
the second Blessed beit, which we'll get to too, but
just quickly. They are now going to be capped at
one hundred dollars. Now, I know some of you will
be like, oh, what the hell, But what we've agreed
with the tab is that they'll give us an even
bigger price. But the maximum bet is one hundred dollars.
If we get enough blowbacks saying no, no, no, that's bullshit.
(50:53):
I want to be able to get more on then hey,
we can revisit it, but we're going to get a
better price. Back it up to one hundred dollars, and
that I think gives us a bit more juice. And
we know from last year that most people backing the
Blessed bet weren't spending more than one hundred dollars anyway,
So I'm sure some bigger punters will be a little
bit gutted, but I think it gives a lot of
people a chance to really cash on a bit of juice.
Speaker 3 (51:16):
Yeah, so what don't I do the new best bet,
blessed bet, and then one of you guys tackle the
other one, So I'll start. We've got the new one
which is called the Harness Halo. It's Addington Friday Night
Race ten and Gaso's given us this one and Gaso
has been on fire in the group recently.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Addington raised ten number.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Four Ocean Breeze to run top four boosted from two
dollars thirty five out to three dollars, gets a far
better draw. Tonight has used Gaate speed from a similar
draw in the past, been a bit unlucky and recent
couple and a tough runs. It needs to get across
to the markers and it's a big show. But he's
(51:57):
tipped it out to each way. But we've gone top four,
boosted out the three dollars, the Harness Halo adding to
Race ten bloody beautiful.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
So to find these bets you need to go to racing.
Then you need to go to futures and you will
find the Harness Halo and the Blessed Bet at the
top of those futures. Now the Harness Halo goes Tomorrow
night and then the blessed bet. We'll be going to
tee uppa now the goat is going to get the
cheese out. Meeting to erase number six. This one is sexy.
(52:29):
He's not going to turn me on because we're getting
eight dollars I believe, is that right? Or if I
overcook that eight dollars turn me on? The blessed bet
in week number one has always looked like a stayer
of promise. Key point is the booking of Opie. There
is only one Opi Boston has been a good mate
of sewn Ritchie for a long time, but it's only
(52:50):
ridden approximately twenty three times for him, and one seven
of those which suggest they are normally ready to go.
When Opie is up, distance will suit, track, conditions are
okay and it will be rock hard fit. All that
is turning me on, and that's exactly what it will
be doing. Come meeting to race number six. When you
get eight.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
Bucks, Oh, I must have luke. That was so good.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
Let's hope he turns on a few of the pundas.
Here you go.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Good work for you, and that was a bit of
a mouthful. It's good work, right. Let's get to the
rest of the Harness Racing Best bets, Dan, Do you
want to start off with the scan Man mate?
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (53:27):
Go on then scan Man Addington Meeting eight, Race seven
McAndrew Aviator.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
After having had a few.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Issues in the New Zealand Cup last year, he has
produced a couple of very nice trials heading into this
also generally very quick away from the stand start and
look set for a big run in a fresh state.
McAndrew Avid A nice horse. You get in value here
as well. I think it's nine dollars and three dollars
fifty or something. Top three the scan Man, Addington Meeting eight,
(53:56):
Race seven McAndrew Aviator.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
All right, well then we are going to Addington Meeting eight,
Race number six. Now Meddie Markham is having a crack
here and he has tipped out mister love. Now, this
is a horse that you can only but fall in
love with as it goes around. I can't make up anything,
(54:21):
So how do we not get it right up? Turn
me on? Or maybe no, I was getting too carried
away with What are we going to call it? If
both the Blessed be and the Hardest Halo came, it's
going to be called Come to Jesus. We've got Sunday Church.
But anyway, mister Love for Meddie markham Eddington Meeting eight,
Race number six, really really good trotter.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
It's in the lead up to the Dominion, which is
one of them. But there's a couple of good trotters
in that race. But this mister Love has been gone
real good races. Benny Hope up, I think yeah, I
think it's a good chance.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
And he said that when Ben Hope wins, he will
salute by blowing you a kiss for the punters.
Speaker 1 (54:55):
Rackman, why don't you go, Fitzy as well Man, you're
on fire with harmus.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
Addington Meeting, Race two.
Speaker 3 (55:00):
Brando, Now this thing's gone from tiak straight to the
fucking trips and here we go. Draws well barrier one
trial sensational last week in a quick time. A horse
on the rise will no doubt benefit from the run,
but still should be tough to roll. Brando, got the
inside barrier.
Speaker 2 (55:17):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Oh, no, good work from the harness lands. Let's rip
him to some of the gallows. My best bit this,
I Guessa. Well we've got him and we're in the
blessed bit.
Speaker 3 (55:26):
But no, that's a different one.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
Good man, okay, so guess so he's got the real
fucking pictroul as well Addington race number eight, so meeting eight,
Race number eight. The horse is called z Indi. I
believe x I E N D I Big future. This
horse was excellent in a recent trial sub fifty six.
Last half goes well fresh second line draw, but only
(55:48):
horse there, so Bob will have options devastating sprint on him,
runs faster than Noah Lyles and will get the gold medal.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
Oh, it's so good, it is so good Landier, I
think it is.
Speaker 2 (56:04):
Slendy slendy. Jeez, isn't that one from Ukraine or something?
Speaker 1 (56:08):
I guess guess Tho's been on fire this winter as well.
It is fantastic to have Gaso and Maddie Markham back
on adding to the panel this year with FITZI scam
Man and the Rackman is going to bring some harness
tips as well throughout the season.
Speaker 2 (56:24):
The idea being that you fill up on your Friday
and you've got plenty of gas so to speak for Saturday.
How good? Right?
Speaker 1 (56:32):
Great idea? Right? Should we get to the gallops? I
reckon we start with our three, then we'll go into
the big guns. To finish off. How about that beonderful?
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Right?
Speaker 1 (56:39):
My best bit this weekend is going to be a
Tadapa Race ten. It's the I win, I win the
everest rating sixty five la Meskida h. This horse took
my eye last season and I quite liked it. I
heard Marshi Ones and Z the other morning as well,
saying that he's quietly confident about this. It is. Two
starts on winter tracks have been really really good finishing
off second. It's had a bit of freshen up Opie
(57:01):
Boston jumps on board. If it finishes anything like it
has in the last two races, it should get the
job done. Sadily, Ted has got a value winner in
this race as well, which we'll get too soon. But yeah, anyway,
Lamiski at race ten, turt upper Dan.
Speaker 2 (57:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (57:17):
Right, after being bullied left, right and center from the
boys in the group chat, I've rested my Laurels Mooney
Valley Meeting twelve. Race eight Sands Dute or Sands Dute
or whatever you want to call it, because this thing's
gonna be fucking blown down the outside and peeling off
a win six bucks or five bucks and two fifty
or something.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
Like that.
Speaker 3 (57:38):
But this thing is a straight track specialist. So I'm
thinking maybe the champions spread or it's gonna win a
Group one I reckon in Australia down the straight at Flemington.
But I just get the feeling like this horse has
got a really devastating sprint on. It reminds me remember
imperature is fresh up at the valley last year. Was
it in the Mennicata Stakes or someone like that, and
it just like coming to the outside a giga kick
(57:59):
and just give it winbur That was Hurry Fish SAMs
Due's got that sort of same sort of devastating sprint.
I'm just hoping that he knows how to change the
lead leg on that final corner, blows past them and
puts them in a body bag.
Speaker 1 (58:10):
Some great technicalities there, looke, Bloody excited.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
Well, I'm going to go to Tadarpa race number two
horse called suit Yourself, and I certainly Bloody will because
for four dollars twenty that will do me just fine,
especially in a bonus back race. Now, this horse was
a little bit disappointing for punters on debut. It had
won two trials. It went around at about two dollars
twenty but was beaten by a very good ride from
Jasmine forcet. Now I think we want to give this
(58:35):
horse another chance. It stays left handed. We're getting four
dollars and it is a bonus back race, so suit yourself,
get paid very early on in the day and then
just keep building the bank.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
Absolutely, mate, you can put all that money on Ted's
best bit Tapa Race six diamond Jack two dollars seventies.
Made this his best bet the last couple of times
it's been out two. I think it's one one of
those two races Certainty beat in their last start over
twenty two hundred meters when going down to Hulla beat
by a head, had beaten Hulla beat the start prior
by three and a half links. With better luck in
(59:07):
the running, diamond Jack can turn the tables on Saturday.
Put all your Friday night winnings in Luke's best bet
into diamond Jack Race six, paying two dollars seventy at
the moment will pay less because Ted has said so,
We've already had the goat's best bet, which has turned
me on. So somebody's going to wrap up with Maddy
puntaike Q. Thank you very much as always, mate.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
He can find a winner over there in Australia and
he's had the maps out, the data out, and he's
found us one mooney or money Valley as we like
to call it. Meeting twelve, Race number six regal zeus
four dollars sixty rail out five meters could be quite
leaderish and he's in good form with the map advantage
on the favorite. Get stuck in and get paid at
(59:52):
money Valley.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
Good luck if you're having a crack at though, is
good luck if you kept up? Gee wiz there? How
many pist bits have.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
We got heat a lot? Yeah, but this year as well,
we're actually going to track the performance of all the
punters as well, and we'll make that data readily available
at BGP dot com.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Forward slash look your tradictory and the end of last season,
took off the goat. The goat was pretty high. Everybody
had pretty good sh Well.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
If you want the r oi dat, I just d
M Kimmy's and he'll.
Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Leave me out of it. Much to do, yeah it
hopefully everybody wins off those Did you guys realize that
our beers are invisible? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
They should be. Their exports the way that he was
deleting them. He quickly as well. We we lost Black
Caviar unfortunately last weekend on Saturday, which is a real shame,
real icon of the sport. I was lucky enough to
get over there and watch her win a race, and
even I couldn't jinx her and stop her, that's how
good she was. And when put a bit on and
(01:00:53):
she still won, and I had a little flag and
I had my pants off, and not even I'm not
even I'm not even joking. I don't know. It's just
to us take our pants off. And we got excited
many years ago, and she was that good that.
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Don't do that at the Twilight races.
Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
We won't do that. Are definitely grind out of that.
So yeah, it was just yeah, pants became optional normally
after some big event had happened, and when she won
and my, oh, this's this course for it. So anyway, yeah,
go those sorts of bad, bad behaviors. But did have
my Black Cavyr flag and I think I might have
lost that, but she was a hell of a horse
and one of those horses that is once in a lifetime.
And then we got another good one after that, as well,
(01:01:28):
but you know, hopefully there's heaps of good memories that
people have of that horse, and hopefully we can start
to see some more of those coming through as well.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
Lastly, a quick shout out to the ACC for helping
us out get the podcast cranking, and of course the
TAB as well for supporting us and allowing us to
do what we want to do.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
It's awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
We're really excited to be back this season and I'm
really really rip into it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Yeah, absolutely, mate, Adam, It's good to have you back.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
Mate.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
You're at Sean Johnson Stadium tomorrow night, an't you? For
the last home game for the Yeah, I thought it
was Justifunging Stadium tomorrow. He feels a bit hard done by.
There's a you know, it's not just not just one day.
Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
But yeah, I will be there tomorrow and I'm sure
it will be electric tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Absolutely, Hopefully the hopefully the wires can send everybody off
on a good note for a home season. It's been
one of those up and down tough seasons off the
back of a very good season. But we will be back.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
I would have thought we certainly will, and I know
that my mum's at the game, So go easy on
her tomorrow night, Adam if you're bump into her, but
she'll be screaming at someone loves a Sean Johnson try
as well, so hopefully she's backing.
Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
That fantastic right, Thanks for going Yeah, yeah, sorry, I
was just thinking about the next thing to say.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
It up.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
I just want to make sure that everybody knows we
aren't back next week, but we will be back in
two weeks time for the Tarzino Trophy.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
And of course, Luke, you won't be with us. I'll
be over in America. Actually, I have to go to
Miami for a couple of things. I saught the BGP
app and all tested activele etcetera. But I'll try and
beam in and make a bit of content and fire
and over.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
Good man, Dan, what are you going on the next
couple of weeks, mate?
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
It's been absolutely outstanding. I've loved sitting here talking about
horse racing with you fellows. Again. Thank you so much, Adam,
thank you very much to everybody who has tuned, and
we can't wait to spend another racing season with you.
Thanks very much. As always, this weekend, gamble responsibly but
enjoy yourself game, sit and match. Shut that game.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
I'm going to do it again.
Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Can I commend with cosmen and stays.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
On the court. Now there he's coming, there's going good.
