Speaker 1 (00:00):
Morning and welcome into the Monday Recap bult You by BGP,
and it was Tarzino Weekend. It's episode three. We're going
to be going through the Tarzino, a couple of the
other feature races, and then a quick review of the
best bets from the lads and any notes to take
on their performances. We'll also chat through anything that we
(00:21):
think needs to go into the Black Book from the weekend,
and there is a few, so hang on. At the end,
we'll give you a few Black bookers that you can
chuck into your book for the races coming up this season.
First of all, we're going to go through into a
quick review of the Blessed Bet and the Harness Halo. Firstly,
we've seen the Harness Halo on Friday Night Addington Race
(00:43):
number eight and it was queenas Swords and look, I
think everything went to script pretty early. She let up.
She seemed to be traveling well before she really dropping
out quite badly. And look it turns out they scoped
her after the race and she was full of gunk.
So she's going to need to Yeah, she's obviously picked
(01:06):
up a virus or something like that. And yeah, we'll
definitely see a better showing of her moving forward. So
a little bit disappointing for the Harness Halo, but we
go again this week, and of course the Blessed bet
was Haste Things, and it was race number ten and
it was wits end and gee wez I reckon. A
(01:27):
few of the punters may have been at their wits
end by the end of the day, because I think
the bookies had a field day and punters were on
the floor after a few of those races, but not
with wits end. Jumped to the front and kicked away
really strongly on the corner and just really didn't look
like he was going to get beaten at all. And
(01:49):
it would have been a good time for the punters
because we had five hundred people involved in the Blessed bet.
The tab paid out fifty k to punters on the
Blessed Bet, so it was to get out stakes to
get out of jail, and hopefully a few of you
guys got paid and got yourself out of jail. We
had about three hundred bets on the Harlest Halo as well,
and we'll be looking to redeemail salves next week. Jumping
(02:14):
into some of the ROI from the Blessed Bet and
the Harness Halo. So every week I'm doing a summary
of the Blessed bets and the best bets so far
this season, and we're doing the math based on one
unit bet per week, and then we take the result
minus the investment, which will give you units of profit.
(02:36):
So far, the Blessed Bet is six units of profit overall,
so if you had one hundred dollars per week on
the Blessed Bet, you would have six hundred dollars worth
of profit. And at the moment, the Harness Halo is
at break even, so if you put one hundred bucks
on each week, you would be at a net gain
(02:56):
of zero, but you wouldn't have lost any money either.
So it's gonna be intro to see how we go
when we track these moving forward. Really want to see
both the Blessed Bets and the Harness Halo finish and
some really strong positive ROI for the season as well,
so the punters can follow it with confidence and know
if they consistently follow it each week with the same
(03:18):
betting unit, they'll end up being profitable. Right now, let's
go and jump into a review of the best bets
over the weekend, and let's start with the Harness on
Friday with the scan man's best bet, Princess Stadi. But
this was an outstanding win and almost went to script
exactly how the scanman said. She jumped, got to the
(03:38):
front and she was just too strong in the end,
ended up running away from them a bit there, so
want to follow their Princess Sadie. She's a promising little
Philly and I think she's gonna win plenty more races
this season, so I think you keep her in mind
when you see her coming out next. There's a few
more three year old trotters that are you know, that
(03:58):
are quite smart. But I think she's going to be
a force to reckon with in some of the feature races.
I think she's gonna make her presence fault and I
think we might see her pick up a nice race
this three year old season. Fitzy. Of course, we covered
that off with Queen of Swords. Then we got to
the Harness on Sunday with Methvin and this was Gasso's
(04:20):
best bet. It was Race one Destiny's Dream and look,
this horse is normally a gate flyer, but it sort
of looked to half knockoff and didn't really want to
be there or even go to the lead. Then sort
of around the corner it ended up being three back
on the markers, which is not really ideal for this horse,
but it needed a little bit of cover, and then
by the time it sort of came around the stretch
(04:41):
when it got some fresh air, it just didn't really
do anything. So maybe follow this horse. We'll see it
go around next start and see if it gets a
good barrier and see if it can jump to the
lead and do and lead all the way. Markham's Best
was Methvin Race ten, Chance on Me. Look this horse
jumped really well and got to the lead early, took
(05:02):
a trail and sort of everything was going well, and
it looked to be traveling really well on the home corner,
but just didn't quite finish off the race well enough
and ended up running third. So you just miss out
on getting your money back there with Markham's Best, and
then we got to haste things. On Saturday, Matt Daddy
went to race two and it was nearaus and look
(05:23):
this horse jumped well. It sat outside the leader and
looked to be traveling really well when it took the
lead on the home corner, but I think it just
sort ended up being left a little bit of a
sitting duck and wolf Gang bombed over the top and
just got over the top of him late. That was
still a really good run from Naraus And look that
horse got pumped in. I think it was four dollars
(05:43):
twenty into I think it might have even closed a
dollar seventy five, So the punters would have been on
the floor after race two when Narus got popped, and
it was, yeah, disappointing to see that one get beat
early on in the day for punters. I went to
Hastings race eight and it was Nafetti and look, it
(06:06):
was a good run, it got in the right position,
but I just think the twelve hundred dollars was a
little bit sharp for it, and I'm looking for this
horse over a little bit more distance. On that note,
the Goat's best bet was also in race eight, and
that was Candle. And this one's one you want to
throw on the black book if it wasn't there already.
It got back and it flew home late and it
looked like a horse that's going to be on the
(06:28):
up this season. So Candle's one to follow. It's going
to pick one up and its next couple of starts,
for sure. Kemmys just can't stop winning. He went to
race ten and it was wits end, which was the
blessed bet. And we've covered that. Kemmy's now four from
four on the season and the guy is just punting
on fire. So keep following Kemy's for sure. And of
(06:50):
course the one and only Ted. Everyone loves Ted. He
went to race four. It was promised land a jump
well and it was put in a good spot in midfield.
It tracked the right horse into the race and it
got over them late nicely. That was a good win.
It was six bucks. He had it in his black
book from a couple of weeks ago in Tarapa and
Ted gets the boys paid again. Outstanding tipping from Ted there.
(07:16):
Now they're ROI for the best bets. All the lads
are having a bit of a competition to see who
can produce the heart highest ROI on the season. Let's
take a look through the leaderboard so far. So just
so you know how we're tracking and measuring all these bets.
We're putting one unit bet each way on the horse
when it's tipped, so it's based on the odds when
(07:38):
the guys tip the horses and then we do the
return minus the sum of the investment equals the total
units profit. And as I said, Kemy's is on fire
this season and he has a total of ten point
eight five units of profit, which is outstanding considering we're
(07:59):
in the coming into the fourth week. Now Ted picked
up a good winner on the weekend and he is
at six point nine and five units of profit and
the scan Man in third place with five point one
six units of profits. So these your top three. I
know all the boys are really keen to move themselves
up the leaderboard, so it's going to be really interesting
(08:19):
to see how we go over these next few weeks
and months and see who ends up the king of
BGP tipsters at the end of the season. Right, let's
go and jump in and do a quick review of
the feature races over the weekend and of course we
had the Group one Tazino and what a race it was.
(08:39):
Was a great result for Wexford and an awesome result
for Matt Cartwright who got his first Group one look
Crew Chitty jump with them and really burnt to get
to the lead. Bonnie Lass come forward and sat outside
the leader. I think the speed map sort of worked
out pretty much how most people expected, with crow Chitty
and the lead and Bonnie Lass outside the leader. I
(09:01):
think some people potentially thought that that might have been
the other way around, but yeah, I think Warren Kennedy
really rode crow Chitty urgent and sent him to the lead.
It looked like they sort of burnt along quite quickly.
I haven't looked at all the times or anything of that,
but yeah, it looks like they put Yeah, they put
the gas down early, and then grail Seeker ended up
(09:24):
sort of three or four back on the fence and
came around the corner and got out behind Sacred Setono,
who actually looked like the winner a couple one hundred
out before grail Seeker came over the top of them
and put them away really impressively. Fara Leone sat in
the trail and got out the right time, and at
different points through the strait there were multiple times where
(09:46):
different horses looked like the winners. Leoni was one of
them earlier in the strait when she got out behind
Crochetty and took the lead for a short amount of
time before Sacred Setono took the lead and looked like
the winner for a small amount of time, and then
of course grail Seeker just came over the top of
them and ended up putting them away quite nicely and
(10:08):
was a really good performance. I thought Skewwith was good
coming from a long way back. I think with a
better barrier drawer in the erowfield, she's going to be
a big danger. And of course I think grail Seeker.
They're talking about keeping this horse to the twelve and
fourteen hundred meters, so we're likely not to see it
at the arrowfield. It's going to be interesting to see
the way that the arrowfield stacks up in a few
(10:29):
weeks time. I thought Snazzi Tavi was good fresh up.
We're gonna expect her to get better over more distance.
And again I thought why Tech was good enough as well.
He was another good running behind them, hitting the line
hard and the final stages. It's going to be interesting
to see where a lot of these horses go moving forward.
But that was your group one Tarzino outstanding win by
grail Seeker, and yeah, some really good runs in behind
(10:53):
there and some horses to follow out for sure. Next up,
we'll go and have a quick chat through the circle.
Mead's Trophy and Poetic Champion looked really good. I think
this horse is a really good sprinter. Matt Daddy called
it on the podcast and said that he was the
one that thought was going to take out the Sir
(11:14):
Column Mead Trophy, and look he just jumped to the
lead and put them away quite easily in the end.
I thought Savage Lee was also a huge run, coming
from so far back and really flying home. Initially I
was a little bit disappointed with Moved to Strike in
super Photon, but after going back and watching the replays,
(11:37):
particularly Moved to Strike having to come right round the
outside of them, and they both look like horses that
are looking for more distance, and I think up to
the sixteen hundred over Cup week these two are going
to be really in their element. So not as disappointed
as I first was on the day with Moved to
Strike and Super Photon. I just think that they're both
(11:57):
going to be horses that are going to go better
over a bit more distance, and potentially some of these
other ones are just a little bit sharper over the
shorter trips at the moment. Moving on to the Gold
Trail Steaks and g was Alabama Lass is a very
smart horse. She jumped well. I sat outside the leader,
and then when Sammy Spread asked for an effort, she
(12:18):
sprinted hard. Capture by Love I thought was really good,
fresh up as well and definitely will improve. I thought
she really stuck with Alabama Lass the whole way down
the street, but just couldn't quite make up, you know,
the margin, and Damask Rose was huge to come from
last and really hitting the line. She was making ground
(12:40):
on the two getaway leaders. I think probably in that
last fifty meters she was really starting to cut into
their lead. She wasn't a danger of winning, but yeah,
I thought that she really savaged the line. And I
think she's the kind of horse now that we could
follow into a race like the thousand guinea on Cup week.
(13:01):
She's already been crunched. She's been the bookies have shortened
are into six dollars now, and you can see why
after that run, because she looks like a horse that's
going to do and flourish really well up over distance.
So that was the group one day at Hastings over
the weekend, the first group one of the season. Awesome
day of racing and overall there was some really good performances.
(13:25):
The track I thought played really fair. Winners came from
everywhere on the day and I'm looking forward to Day
two of the Hastings Spring Carnival with the arrow Field
in a few weeks time. Next up, we're going go
and jump through and have a little look at the
trial report card and look the I didn't have time
(13:48):
to look through a huge amount of trials over the weekend,
but one I did notice, and one I did see
was a horse called Joffree. He had a trial the
Cambridge Synthetic last Tuesday. He jump and sat back last
and then on the point of the turn he powered
over the top of them in a six horse trial
and Loo, I'm really looking forward to seeing this horse
(14:08):
come back fresh up. Hopefully he'll be racing in the
next couple of weeks, and I think that that's one
that we can punt early on. He looks like he's
ready to rock and roll. Right. We've got a few
BGP events coming up this year, of course. First of
all we have Everest Day and we've got the King
(14:30):
of the Punt at Allesley on October the nineteenth tickets
will be available this week and we're going to be
on course and it is of course an on course
event only, so if you want to join into the
King of the Punt, you need to be on course
at Alasloo. The way it's going to work is, first
of all, you're going to need to buy your ticket
(14:51):
to the room, and again the ticket link's going to
be up this week to purchase your tickets for the
King of the Punt. Your ticket into the room on
the day includes a meal and a couple of drinks
and then entry into the King of the Punt area
on Allesleie at Alsie on Everest day as well. And
then once you're in the room on the day to
enter into the King of the Punt, you'll start with
(15:14):
one hundred dollars balance, so you need to pay one
hundred dollars into your tab account on the day and
then it's whoever can turn that into the most money
by the end of the day is the winner. And
of course the last race that you can bet on
for the King of the Punt is the Everest and
so whoever has the most money at the end of
(15:35):
the day then will be crowned the King of the
Punt and there'll be a really grunty prize. All of
those details will be available in coming out this week,
but just to be clear, the way it works is
the ticket link will be available this week and you
have to purchase a ticket into the room which gives
you a meal and a couple of bears, and then
on the day your entry into the Punters Club is
(15:56):
into the Punter's competition. Sorry, The King of the Punt
is based on you purchasing one hundred dollars worth of
betting vouchers or whatever, and then it's whoever turns that
into the most value wins at the end of the day.
Next up, we've got en Zed Cup Week and there's
been quite a lot of movement over the last week
for this one. Here there's going to be a National
Punters Club going from the Thursday through to the Sunday,
(16:17):
so we're going to be betting on Ashburton on Thursday,
the Dogs on Thursday night, the Harness on Friday at
Addington and then of course New Zealand Cup Day at
Rickington on Saturday, where we're going to be chasing a
few winners and seeing if we can turn this en
Zed Cup Week Punters Club into a huge win for
the punters. So first we've got the Thursday at the Dog,
(16:41):
so we're doing two events down at New Zealand Cup Week.
We're doing one of the Dogs on Thursday and then
we're doing an event on the Friday for the Saturday.
We just encourage people to go and buy their own tickets,
get GA entry or get different catering packages or tickets
or whatever available for New Zealand Cup Day on that Saturday.
We're not going to be hosting an event. We encourage
you to get your own tickets and get that sorted
(17:04):
for the day. So New Zealand Cup Week the Thursday
at the Dogs tickets are available now and the way
that you get tickets is you need to email Sarah
at christ Church Greyhounds dot coderan Z to book your spot.
It's one hundred and seventy dollars per person for the
Dogs on that Thursday night and it's an all inclusive experience,
so it includes all of your drinks and all your
(17:26):
food and you get access to the private BGP area
as well. Stuff you want. Your tickets one hundred and
seventy bucks per person. I know a few people were
already ready to go and locked and loaded. But you
email Sarah that's Sah at christ Church Greyhounds dot cod
in Z to book your spot for New Zealand Cup
week night at the Pups. Next up, we've got the
(17:48):
Harness on Friday and the tickets are now available for
the Friday and you'll find them on the Boys Get
Paid Facebook page. Just search up the event the Boys
Get Paid event on the Friday and there'll be a
link there for the tickets. We're also going to be
posting it all across our socials in the coming week,
so you'll see it all the time. One hundred and
(18:10):
fifteen dollars per person. That includes food throughout the day
and you're going to get four drinks vouchers as well,
so one hundred and fifteen bucks really good value. You
get your meal, food throughout the day and four drinks vouchures.
We're on the grass right in front of the winning
post and of course we've got the punters Club going,
so we'll be looking to make a little bit of
noise and scream home a few winners. This is a
(18:33):
twilight meeting and it features the two new five hundred
thousand dollars slot races, the Ascent and the Velocity. It's
one hundred and fifteen bucks ahead. You get food throughout
the day and four drinks vouchers, and we're really looking
to fire this one up. It would be great to
see you there, so jump in and grab your tickets
for both the dogs on the Thursday and then the
(18:55):
harness on the Friday. Would love to have as many
of you legends down there. And I'm sure we're going
to have a cracking time right some black bookers and
some horses to follow out of the weekend. And Ted
has given me a couple. First of all, we had
rua Kaka and that was the open fourteen hundred ol
(19:15):
Vincia door carrying fourty sorry carrying the sixty kilos. And
look this horse had no luck from his wide gate
and he was trapped three wide without cover throughout, fought
bravely for fourth placing and was right in the line,
right in and up to the line for second and third.
Our VNZA doors won to follow over the fourteen hundred
(19:37):
fresh up and I think this one might be one.
I think it's fourteen dollars for the arrowfield, not one
hundred percent sure if it's going down there, but I
think our Vincia Door is maybe one that we could
follow even into the arrowfield, so keep an eye out
for that. Of course. The other black booker from today
was in the race where Promised Land, when that Ted
(19:59):
has had as his best bet it's called Who Knows,
was taken back to a clear last from the wide
gate and was still back last and held up turning
in when it got some room at about the one hundred.
It finished off really powerful for third behind Promised Land.
So chuck Who Knows into your black book and follow
this one moving forward potentially even over the twenty two
(20:22):
hundred or over the two thousand again. But I think
that this horse is destined for a win and its
next couple of starts. The other one that Ted mentioned
was raced number six at Hastings, was the rating sixty
five to thirty one hundred, and he said Slipper Island
never saw daylight in the straight, finishing last of eleven runners.
Just forget. He went around and follow this horse again,
(20:42):
So Slipper Island next up, Ted Rekins, we can go again.
A couple from the harness and FITSI mentioned Confessional stepped
up to the big boys this prep and still hasn't
seen clear air from his run on Friday night, so
it's still trotting, a deal trotting cup Master trainer pulled
in and the trotter whose stacks of ability wouldn't surprise
(21:05):
me if he wins a decent lead up race to
the Dominion Handicap over the next four to six weeks.
So that is confessional and that's a trotter and he's
won to follow in the feature trots coming up over
the next four to six weeks. And the other one
fits he mentioned was a hookah Connor and I agree
with this one one hundred percent. He galloped off the
(21:26):
start and blew the start in the New Brighton Cup
on Friday and would have joined anyone's black book that
watched it as he steamed home. And if you see
him well drawn in a mobile somewhere soon, then be
happy to pile on. And that is a hokah Connor. Yeah,
he looked really good right. The wrap up best of
(21:47):
BGP powered by Trackside will be back this week again
along with the Friday Phillip where the lads will be
providing all of their best bets and then it'll be
shot out across the Friday night Lights and then also
the different TV shows across the Trackside Network. The podcast
(22:11):
will come back in a couple of weeks for the
Ellerslie Meeting and then of course the following week after
that is the Arrowfield, so we'll have a couple of
weeks back to back for the podcast, right. Thanks for
joining us, Happy punting, and we'll see you back in
another couple of We'll see you back actually next Monday
for the Monday Recap. Thanks for joining me.
