Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hello everyone, and thank you so much for joining me
for Daily Spark with Doctor Angela. You guys know who
I am. I'm Doctor Angela but Chester, and you know
what I like to do with my show, Say it
with me. I want to enlighten, inspire and empower you
to become your best self. No scripture reminds us that
the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches,
(00:32):
but a tiny spark can set a great forest on
a fire. And that's what we want to do today.
Today we are looking at clean water, clean futures, the
fight for our oceans. So go on, get your coffee
or get your tea, because we are about to get started.
(00:52):
Hello everyone, and thank you so much for joining me
for this very special show for Daily Spark of Doctor Angela.
We are a part of a pod cast a Fawn
if you will, for twenty twenty five. We are excited
(01:13):
about not only being invited to participate in the podcast
on but we are excited to bring you this particular
subject matter. Now. For those of you who have followed
me over the years, you know that clean water is
something that is so important to me, both in clean
(01:34):
drinking water and taking care of our oceans and waterways.
So what if I told you that by the time
you finished listening to this episode, over one million plastic
bottles will have been sold worldwide. And what if I
(01:55):
told you that a huge percentage of them will end
up in our oceans and waterways. It's happening every single day,
and it's a crisis that we can't ignore. That's right,
we can no longer pretend that it's not having an
(02:17):
effect on our world. Today, on this special issue of
Podcast on twenty twenty five broadcast, we're diving deep, literally
into the issue of ocean pollution. This isn't just about
clean drinking water, which is something that I talk about,
(02:37):
something that I care deeply about. Now today we're looking
at the other side of clean water, the health of
our oceans, our rivers, and our waterways, because what happens
out there it affects every single one of us. I
(03:08):
like to refer to myself as a beach baby. I've
always lived near the coast, whether in my home state,
the Commonwealth of Virginia, or where I have lived as
an adult in the great state of California, I have
always lived within just a few blocks of water. Be
(03:33):
it a river or bay, a lake. There's water somewhere now.
The ocean is my sanctuary. The water is a part
of who I am and what I do to help
keep myself in a state of harmony. It is where
(03:53):
I clear my mind, where I find inspiration, and where
I reconnect with nature. Now, as a pescatarian, I rely
on the ocean not just for my peace of mind,
but also for my food. But here's the one thing
that I've noticed lately. Our oceans are in trouble. Not
(04:18):
long ago, well, now that I think about it. Many
years ago, I was at the beach, enjoying my usual
weekend walking along the shore, but instead of sea shells,
I saw plastic, A lot of plastic. There were straws,
(04:38):
bottle caps, food wrappers, you know, things that don't belong
anywhere near the ocean. And I couldn't stop thinking about it.
How did we let it get this bad? Then I
knew that Moore had to be done. Now, I am
(04:59):
a child who remembers seeing the commercials on television with
people just littering all over the place and that being
an issue. The teardrop would remind me that I should
not be a litterbug. Even in downtown Long Beach, there
(05:21):
were signs that said, I love my Long Beach litter free,
and I agree. No one wants to see trash anywhere,
and especially on their beaches. I want to give a
quick shout out to Justin Rudd, who for many years
I participated in the Saturday Beach cleanup. Ravo Justin for
(05:47):
also listening to that inner voice that says, if I
don't do it, who's going to It is so important
that however we get involved, we get involved.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Now.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
You may not live somewhere where there's a waterway that's
important to you, but please, by all means, continue to listen.
You may know someone who does.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
So.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Why should we care about the waterways? Why does that
matter in today's climate with so much going on? That
is a good question. Let me give you a few facts.
Over fourteen million tons of plastic end up in the
(06:36):
ocean every single year. That number is so staggering that
you can't even fathom fourteen million tons of plastic. It's
just so overwhelming. Well, by the year twenty fifty, scientists
(06:57):
predict that there will be more plastic in the Old
Ocean than fish. That's crazy. We have to do something
every day to make sure that that doesn't happen. Plastic
pollution has been found in the deepest parts of the ocean,
(07:20):
even in the Marina Trench. Microplastics a word that we
never thought we would use in our conversations in our
daily lives, but it's starting to become a hot topic.
Microplastics are those tiny particles from broken down plastics, and
(07:43):
they're now in the food we eat, in the water
we drink, and even in the air that we breathe.
We have to be aware of these things because we
can be part of the change. I remember doing COVID
nineteen when we were all staying safe in our homes.
(08:08):
We found that many of our environmental issues were starting
to clear. Waterways were starting to clear up, the pollution
was starting to lessen. It was because we were not
daily actively contributing to those things causing the sludge, the ick,
(08:30):
the pollution. So we can make a difference if we
choose to do so. See, this is more than an
environmental issue. It's a human issue. Our health, our economy,
they all are connected to the ocean. Well, it's time
(08:55):
for us to take a very short break, but when
we get back, we will continue this varies. Special broadcast
on clean Water, Clean Future, the Fight for our Oceans
will be back right after this. The Ocean Within Symbolism
(09:22):
of Water in the Bible has revealed the powerful symbolism
of water throughout the Bible. As we have seen, water
has been used to represent everything from baptism to purification,
to judgment and destruction. By exploring these various meanings, we
gain a deeper appreciation for the complexity and richness of
(09:44):
the Bible's message. Get your copy of The Ocean Within
Symbolism of Water in the Bible by Doctor Angela Budschester,
available on Amazon or wherever books are sold, and we
(10:13):
are back. Thank you so much for joining me for
Daily Spark with Doctor Angela. I'm your host to Doctor
Angela Tester. Today we are talking about a topic near
and dear to my heart, and that is clean water. Now,
many of you that follow me on a regular basis
know that I talk about clean drinking water many times,
(10:35):
making sure that our residents here stateside have clean water,
but also those in disadvantaged locations around the world have
access to clean drinking water. It is something that we
take for granted because it's so readily easily available here
(10:57):
in the States. Well, the flip side to that conversation
is making sure that we have clean waterways as well, oceans, rivers, streams, lakes,
making sure that our water bodies on this earth of
ours are also taken care of. So let's jump back
(11:19):
in to the conversation. I want to spotlight one particular
nonprofit that I find to be doing exactly what they
say they're doing, and that is for Ocean. For Ocean
is making waves for change.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
The crazy idea, this is what. It just smacks you
in the face, like this is insane. This is a
plastic murgency for sure. This isn't just a small issue.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
This is this is huge.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Everything that I've done in my life has led up
like this type of stuff. Being a captain, grown up
on the water, always constantly trying to fix, improve builds,
seleterally kind of what I was born to do. We're
testing out a new concept today. This is the first
time we're actually taking out to clean some plastic. All right,
strike mission success. You see the viral videos, you see
all the stuff like getting down here, get in the wheezer's,
getting in the plastic cleaning up, working with the team.
(12:14):
So it's all about let's sell a product that can
fund the removal of plastic. The bracelet is made with
plastic that our teams have recovered from the ocean and
the coastlines, and every single one sold removes one kind
of trash from the ocean. Why are we traveling around
the world Bali and Guatemala and Hawaii and all over
trying to set up these clean up infrastructures because we've
got to take action. It's gnarley, but we'll make it happen.
(12:35):
If we don't, who will.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
I love it? I love it. For Ocean is really
they're doing something again that's near and dear to my heart,
and perhaps it's near to yours as well. So let's
talk solutions. This is where for Ocean comes in. For
Ocean is a nonprofit that's dedicated to removing plastic waste
(13:06):
from the ocean and coastlines worldwide. They do this by
hiring full time captains and cleanup crews in some of
the most impacted areas. Since twenty seventeen, they've removed over
thirty million pounds of trash from the ocean and counting.
(13:31):
So here's the best part. You can be a part
of the movement. So how do you become a part
of the movement. I'm so glad you asked become a
plastic offset partner like I did. This means your monthly
support directly funds ocean cleanup. Determine where you are on
(13:56):
the scale of what you need to offset. Perhaps you're
someone that's already being mindful of your plastic usage, so
you pick the plan that works for you, or maybe
you're just starting the journey, so you pick that option.
But there's also a way that you can support, and
(14:19):
that is through the purchase of a four ocean bracelet.
Each one funds the removal of one pound of trash
from the ocean. I find that to be so incredibly helpful.
So if it's something that you don't want to do
on a continual basis, but you just think, hey, I'd
(14:39):
like one of those bracelets to show my support, or
you're the type of person that likes to support several
types of environmental causes, what a great way to show
your support, even if it is a one off. Are
you a business or a corporation. Are you someone who
(15:00):
has the ability to give more than just on an
individual level support their corporate partnerships. If you own a business,
you can align your brand with a powerful sustainable mission.
And when you visit the website for Ocean dot com,
(15:22):
you can click around and find out so much more
about the all that they do. Now you can of
course find out more about partnering with them as well
as joining their subscription programs. I'd like to say that
partnership is business and subscriptions are personal, So find out
(15:47):
what best suits you, your needs and the vision and
hope for your brand, business, or your individual households. Thinking
about getting a bracelet, the bracelets are so beautiful, and
I'm really glad that they were mindful about the aesthetic
of the bracelet now to make it something that you
(16:10):
would want to wear or even gift to someone else.
So glad they were thinking about that. But there's also
a good part to that as well, and that is
the bracelet artisans. The plastic pollution disproportionately impacts women and
children in poor and marginalized communities, So every bracelet you
(16:36):
purchase helps support that local artisan, for example the ones
that are in Bali and in Guatemala, by providing the
reliable resources that they need like income. Right now, so
while they're creating those beautiful bracelets, you are helping to
(16:58):
create and opportunity for growth, health, education, and prosperity in
their futures. So by participating one way or the other,
you are doing something to give back and to help
this beautiful earth of ours. Now, we only have this planet,
(17:22):
so let's try to take care of her and do
the best that we can to make sure that we
are leaving a great planet for the next generation. See,
you don't have to go to the beach with a
trash bag to make it happen. So that is a
good idea. But your time, your talents, and your money
(17:47):
equals your choice. Your time, your choice, your talent, your choice,
your money, your choice, So your choice is no matter
all small can create a grand ripple effect. Well, it's
(18:08):
time for us to take a very short break, but
when we get back, we will continue this very special
broadcast on clean Water, Clean Future, the fight for our oceans.
We'll be back right after this.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Discovery, not just as a what would it look like
if we listened more? Could the right voice, the right
set of words bring us all just a little closer,
get us to open up, even push us further. It
could if we took the time to listen the most
(19:00):
inspiring minds, the most compelling stories, download audible and listen.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
For a change.
Speaker 3 (19:06):
Have the past few weeks or months been challenging? Yes,
for all of us. We've been thrown into circumstances which
we could never have imagined. Lots of jobs, working from home,
general uncertainty. It's causing us to be a little on edge.

talk to me. Simply visit Facebook dot com, forward slash

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Thank you so much for joining me for Daily Spark
with Doctorandela. I'm your host to doctor Angela Chester. Today
we are talking about a topic near and dear to
my heart, and that is clean water. So what can
you do? How can you make a difference and start
(22:12):
having a positive impact on the world, on your community.
You can start by starting today and here are some
things that you can do. You may choose to reduce
your single use plastic bring a reusable water bottle, say
(22:36):
no to plastic straws, or shop with a reusable bag.
Now in many states, much like California, you are required
to use reusable bags. They're no longer giving out plastic bags.
A community decision to lessen the impact of plastic waste.
(23:01):
If that's your community, bravo, good job. I'm so glad
that you guys have chosen to do that. But if
you don't live in a community that does it, that's okay.
Simply purchase one of those reusable bags that you see
at many of the local stores. Trader Joe's, for example,
carries them. You can purchase one there and then shop
(23:25):
wherever you like and use that reusable bag for your items.
No matter what store you choose to use. You can
participate in local cleanups if you live near a beach, river,
or a lake. Gather a group and clean up your
(23:45):
local area. Again, if you happen to be in the
Long Beach, California area, you can visit Justin Rudd and
he will help you be a part of the beach
cleanup there. It is a great way to not only
keep our beaches clean, but to also meet your neighbors
(24:07):
and just enjoy being on the beach and seeing the
progress that you've made, how it started and how you
left it. It's a beautiful site. Now, perhaps you want
to get involved with the four Ocean and cleaning one
of the ponds, lakes, streams.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Or rivers.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
That is a great thing to do. When you visit
the website, be sure that you click on that section.
You're going to fill out a short little form and
someone will get back to you to help you and
your business or your group organization know exactly what you
need to do so that you too can be a
part of a big project of cleaning up a waterway.
(24:51):
So again, visit foroocean dot com and see how you
can get involved, whether as an individual or as a
business or maybe both. So what's one thing you can
do if you're not sure how to get started. You
can share this message you know, put this on your
(25:12):
social media, share this in your newsletter. Sometimes it's better
when folks hear it coming from someone else instead of
coming from you. So I hope that my talking about
it makes it that much more real or impactful for
someone you know share the message. The more people who know,
(25:34):
the bigger the impact we can make together. The ocean
gives us so much. It gives us life, food, beauty,
and even helps with the air that we breathe. But
(25:55):
it's calling out for our help. This isn't just about
saving the ocean, It's about saving ourselves. So thank you
so much for joining me for this special podcast on
twenty twenty five episode Let's Work together to create clean
(26:18):
water and a clear future. Thank you so much for

anything else, you can also visit my website doctor Angela
