the FDA has officially green lit the Wagovi HD. That's

a time of nutritional irony. We have more food available
to us than any civilization in human history, yet we

And you think, well, how is that possible? Because we've
swapped food for food like substances. I call it nutritional bankruptcy.
We are overfed but undernourished. We are filling our bellies

with nutritional ghost towns. Or we're talking about processed snacks
in convenient meals. You know, we're talking about you know,
in our body, our body's chemistry, the enzymes, the vitality,
they're processed right out of our foods. It's shocking to
realize that nearly sixty percent I think maybe even higher

on Health Talk America. Doctor Adam Brockman with you today
and again. We've been talking about nutrition moth and I
want you to picture something inflammation. It's not like a
loud siren. It's more like a slow, smoky kitchen fire
that's behind a You don't always see it, you don't

(34:03):
always feel it, until those alarms go off as joint
pain or stubborn belly fat, high blood pressure, brain fog,
or labs that suddenly look troubling. And here's the part
I want you to know. Chronic inflammatory diseases are linked
to nearly sixty percent of deaths worldwide. That's why I
don't really care about your chronological age. I care about

(34:26):
your biological age. That's the real world wear and tear
that's happening inside your tissues right now. And one of
the most common markers we look at is see reactive protein.
And if the CRP is elevated, your body is basically
in a tinder box. It's it's prime to flare. But
you don't always have to wait for a lab test

(34:47):
to start putting out that fire. So today we're going
to talk about something that's simple, doable, and surprisingly powerful,
and that's a few basic anti inflammatory drinks. Now, let's
this isn't permission to eat ultra process junk all day
and cancel it out with a magic tea at night.
This is about stacking those odds in your favor, and

(35:08):
that's one smart choice at a time. So let's go
ahead and dive in. Let's start with the gold standard
and that's green tea. And if you aren't sipping this
on a regular basis, you're leaving a major longevity tool
on the table. You see, green tea is loaded with
a powerhouse polyphenol that helps to neutralize oxidative stress, which

(35:29):
that oxidative stress, as we discuss, is like brust on
your cells. And this is why green tea shows up
in so many those centurian conversations, the ones that live longer.
It doesn't just support your inflammation balance, it supports your
gut microbiome. And roughly seventy percent of your immune system

(35:51):
is tied to the gut associated lymph tissue. So the
translation is when your gut is inflamed, your whole system
pays the price. And those here's a quick reality check.
Those coffee shop green tea lattes are often more milk
and sugar dessert than actually a health drink. So if
your goal is to cool that inflammation, sugar is continuing

(36:14):
to be that gasoline. So keep it simple, plain green
tea macha with unsweetened milk or even a squeeze of lemon.
So for the sports medicine crowd and honestly, anybody with
cranky joints. This next drink is big. It's it's tart
cherry juice. It's packed with anthoscians that those are the

(36:34):
pigments that give cherries that deep red color, and these
compounds are well known for helping reduce exercise, induce muscle soreness,
and also systemic inflammation. So in practice, I've seen people
with gout tendencies and nagging joint pain do really well
adding tart cherry consistently, and it's not crazy to see

(36:54):
something like a thirty to fifty percent reduction in flare
ups for some folks when the rest their lifestyle is
moving in that right direction too. So next up, let's
talk about kombuka. And I get it that fermented smell
can be a little intense, but if you're dealing with
chronic inflammation, we have to talk about this. A lot

(37:15):
of systemic inflammation starts with gut dysfunction and when people
commonly call leaky gut, where the barrier gets irritated and
you end up with more immune activation than you should.
Systemic inflammation, right, So, kombuka can deliver live cultures plus

suggests that it can influence up to fifty different inflammatory
pathways in a body, and that's a wide net. But
we've got to be honest about the fine print kurcumin.
We need to increase its bioavailability. So if you're just

sprinkling turmeric into hot water. You're not doing the trick here.
So to actually get kurcumin into your system, you also
want two things, and that's black pepper in a healthy fat.
So that's why I've suggested before a golden milk, and
it works so well. Use coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk,
add turmeric, a pinch of black pepper, maybe cinnamon, and

(39:01):
now you've got a kitchen spice into something that behaves
more like a targeted anti inflammatory tool. So the difference
between that nice idea in this actually moves the needle
is again that black pepper in the healthy fat. And
last on the list today is pomegrant juice, and this
is one of those small amount, big benefit drinks, and

(39:24):
it contains these unique compounds that are only found in
pomegrant that are like antioxidants, and it's been studied for
cardiovascular support and in some research pomegrant intake has even
been associated with improvements and markers that are tied to
that carotid artery health. And so the translation here is
better blood flow and it decreases that inflammatory grime build

up when you don't want it. So here's the truth.
Inflammation doesn't always have to respond to one heroic choice.
It can respond to a pattern. And if you increase
that pro inflammatory lifestyle, well you will do that. So
decrease your ultra processed foods, your sugar intake, and maybe

health mystery. We're diving into a health mystery that affects millions.

(41:59):
It is often treated with the medical equivalent of putting
a piece of tape over a flashing check engine light.
I'm talking about a chronic soul crushing heartburn that refuses
to quit. So let's go ahead and set the scene.
I had a patient come in recently. Jim is fifty two.
He's active, he watches his macros in, he's a regular
at the gym. But for two years Jim felt like

(42:23):
he was swallowing a little blowtorch every time he ate
a steak or a piece of chicken. He did what
many people do. He went and he got a prescription
for a proton pump inhibitor a PPI. So he took
the little purple pill and the fire dimmed, but it
never went out. Then came the side effects, the bloating,
the fatigue, the weird heaviness after meals. So he tried

(42:45):
to switch his diet with no spicy food and no
coffee and let's just say no fun. Right. Still, the
burning persisted. His doctors they told him they had something
known as refractory gird and he might need a higher
dose of acid blocks for the rest of his life.
But here's the problem. Jim wasn't suffering from too much
stomach acid. He was suffering from a little cork shaped

(43:09):
invader that was actually lowering his acid at dangerous levels.
So as a medical detective, you have to ask why
is the body behaving this way. If PPIs weren't working,
it's because they were treating the symptom and not the source.
So I ordered a specific breath test in a comprehensive
stool analysis. So the result was this huge overgrowth of

(43:34):
h Pylori and now H. Plori. It's a fascinating, devious bacteria.
It doesn't just hain out in your gut. It burrows
into the mucous lining of your stomach. So to survive
this acidic environment, it secretes an enzyme and this neutralizes
the acid around it, So it essentially creates its own

(43:56):
safe zone by making your stomach less acidic. So you
might be thinking, well, wait, doctor Adam, what if it
makes this the stomach less acidic, why does Jim feel
like this has its burn? Well, this is a great
paradox of the GI system. When your stomach acid is
too low, your food doesn't digest. It starts to just

(44:18):
sit there and ferments, and it creates gas and it
pushes that tiny bit of remaining acid back up through
the esophagus. So the burning isn't from high acid, it's
from the wrong acid in the wrong place. So, instead
of more acid blockers, which would have played right in
the hands of the bacteria, we went the other way.
We used a natural protocol designed to eradicate that H.

Pylori without nuking the rest of his microbiome in his gut.
So we brought in some heavy hitters mastic gum, and
that's a resin from the Mediterranean that has been shown
