a moment. Modern life it has made it easier than
ever to survive, but harder than ever to thrive. We're

(02:48):
we're plugged in, but we're worn out. We're connected, but
we're stressed out, and we're fed, but we're starved for
real nutrition. And somehow we've been conditioned to accept mediocrity
in our health as being normal. And you know what
I have to say about that, and not on my

(03:10):
watch or doctor Bob's watch. So this hour is it's
all about your health because that truth is your body.

designed to restore, and it's designed to reignite your vitality.
You just got to give it the right tools. So

(03:32):
today we're going to dive into how to unlock the
natural power systems your body already has. We're also going

(04:14):
So let's make today the day you do something different,
Doctor Bob. We hear stories every week from listeners just
like you, people who have struggled for months, even years
with stubborn issues like fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, or
poor sleep, and they've tried everything but nothing has stuck.

(04:37):
Then they've discovered that natural science based solutions, that the
kind that we talk about on the show, it suddenly
it changes everything. I had one woman recently, she said
that her energy came back so fast after some cues
on the show that she started walking her dog again
and not just once, but twice a day. And another

(05:00):
listeners said that she finally woke up without pain for
the first time in years. And that's what happens when
you feed the body what it needs and not just
settling for what's in front of you. And this is
where you come in, because the show isn't just a broadcast,
it's a it's a conversation about your health and your

(05:20):
family's health, and your future and your future's health. So
I want I want to hear from you. If you've
got a health concern, call us. Let's talk about it.
Maybe it's digestion, or it's sleep, blood pressure, hormones, memory,
or you're feeling just a little bit off your game.

(05:40):
Whatever it is, let's work through it. And that's that's
what we do here every single week. And remember, you
don't have to wait for that next doctor's appointment to
start improving your health. You can start it right now,
right where you are. And again I encourage you to
visit our website doctor Bob dot com. That's a place
that you'll find information and you can even replay the

(06:03):
show today, and it can help you make smarter, natural
choices and decisions for better health. You see, health isn't
just an accident. It's built choice by choice, meal by meal,
and thought by thought. Your body listens to everything you
do and it wants to serve you well. The question

(06:24):
is are you listening to it? Because when you commit
to taking better care of yourself, when you stop ignoring
the signals and you start restoring the balance, it's amazing
what happens next. Your skin starts to clear up, your
energy rises, your confidence returns, your focus sharpens, and then

(06:46):
suddenly you're feeling alive again. So don't wait wait for
a crisis, don't wait until something breaks to start fixing it.
Let's build health proactively and build it together. Because remember,
if you've got a health concern, we've got health solutions
for you. This is not just a show about illness,
it's a show about wellness. So I want you to

(07:08):
stick around this entire hour. We've got some great health
insights coming out. All right, let's go ahead and get
started with what your body odor really reveals about your health.
So I want you to imagine that you're sitting an
important meeting when a colleague leans in to whisper something
and you catch a whiff of their breath. It's not

(07:29):
garlic from lunch, but it's something sweet and fruity that
makes you pause. Or maybe you've noticed your own body
sending signals you can't quite decode your feet that's smell
different despite daily's showers, or you're in that carries an
unfamiliar scent. Well, I want you to welcome yourself to

(07:50):
your body's most underrated communication system. This week, we're not
talking about a breakthrough drug or a surgical technique. It's
about a diagnostic power that's hiding in plane smell. So
this new expert analysis reveals that your body odor it
could be your body's earliest warning sign in your a

(08:12):
great system for everything from urinary track infections to diabetes.
And most of us are completely missing these critical health signals.
And why does this matter for everyone listening today? Because
shame and embarrassment are keeping millions of people from recognizing
when their bodies are trying to tell them something important.

(08:33):
And we're not talking about normal post workout sweat or
that morning breath. We're talking about another one of your
body's early warning systems that could save you from serious
health complications. I want you to meet a couple of
our listeners, like Allison. She was a forty two year
old marketing executive who noticed her usual body odor had

(08:54):
taken on almost a metallic quality or sent to it
rather than reaching for stronger deodorant. She mentioned it to
us through an email question and what we discovered was
an early kidney dysfunction that needed some immediate attention. So
we set her up with her primary care and started

(09:15):
to get some results there. Or another listener, I want
you to consider as Chris, who's had a sweet smelling
urine and it's you know that's always raised a concern
of diabetes. So again asked him to go ahead and
get that checked out, and I was able to make
some make some progress on those symptoms. So these aren't

(09:37):
isolated cases. Around one in one hundred people suffer from
something known as excessive sweating that often mask underlying health conditions.
And here's the reality of this. Eighty six percent of
people experiences experiencing this unusual body odor, they never mentioned
to their health care providers. And that's missing critical dig

(10:00):
gnostic opportunities. And the science behind body odor as a
health indicator is more robust than most people realize. Doctor
an Nanon she's a general practitioner. She explains that our
bodies produce distinct chemical signals when fighting infections, are processing medications,

(10:20):
or dealing with metabolic changes. She told She says that
stress and anxiety, it can stimulates sweat glands, and it
increases perspiration, and it also increases body odors. And she
also notes that certain medical conditions create very specific scent profiles.
This is something doctor Bob and I know from being

(10:41):
in practice. And when we come back from break we're
going to break down some of these connections in your
body and what it has saying about your body odors.
So you want to stick around for this conversation. You're
listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

Welcome back. I'm doctor Adam Brockman, and you're listening to
the Doctor Bob Martin Show. And Doctor Bob and I
were all about helping you live and thrive naturally and
also teaching you to become your own best doctor most
of the time. And if you've got questions about your
health or nutrition or anything, you can call our toll
free hotline at eight hundred six zero six eighty two two.

(12:50):
That's eight hundred six er o six eight eight two two.
All right, Let's let's roll up our sleeves and get
into something we all deal with but we rarely talk about,
and that our body odors. And now before you reach
for that stick of deodorant or the nearest bottle of
body spray, I want you to hate on a second,
because your body actually might be trying to tell you

(13:13):
something very important. So let's break down what you really
need to know about body odor. You see, not all
smells mean bad hygiene. In fact, some of our own
bodies way of waving a big red flag. It's telling
us about deeper health issues. So let's start with what

(13:33):
I call these hidden messages behind the smells. And number
one is that diabetes connection. When your urine starts to
smell fruity or sweet, that can actually be one of
the first signs of diabetes. And why it's because your
body isn't processing sugar efficiently, so instead of using sugar

(13:57):
for energy, it's being excreted through the kidneys and that
leaves behind that sweet odor. Here's another one, and that's
this infection factor. These for women, these certain vagino odors,
they can actually indicate infections that need immediate treatment. We
got conditions like bacterial vaginosis that don't just cause odor.

(14:21):
They increase your risk for pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility in
even pre term labor. So ladies, if something smells different,
don't ignore it. And a third one is that oral
health gateway, persistent bad breath that doesn't just affect your

(14:42):
dating life, it can warn you against gum disease and
gum disease it's not really a small deal. It's linked
to conditions like heart attacks, stroke and even diabetes. So
those smelly gases from bacteria that are released your mouth,
they create this volatile sulfur compounds and that makes that

(15:06):
your breath smell off. But again it's a risk for
other health conditions. So if your breath isn't, it's just
stubbornly bad. I think deeper than mints and mouthwash. So
if we're if we're talking about things that are getting interesting,
and we talk about the hygiene industry, and what it

(15:28):
wants you to believe is that all or odors, they
equal poor hygiene. And as this result, people race to
get these expensive cover ups and they mask the symptoms.
And we're talking about the perfumes, the sprays and also
chemicals instead of listening to what your body is actually
trying to say. So let's bust up a few of

(15:51):
these common myths, shall we Myth number one, A stronger
deodorant solves persistent body odor, and that's wrong. Most of
these antiperspons use aluminum to block sweat, and that just
happens temporarily. And here's the catch. They don't fix what's
actually causing the odor. And in some cases it might

(16:15):
be issues like thyroid disease, that might be medication side effects,
or even gut imbalances. And remember, we don't want aluminum
trapped in ourselves. Your body's natural detox systems deserve the
freedom to do their job without the input of these
heavy metals. Now, another myth is that diet alone causes

(16:41):
all odor changes. And now, yes, if you think of
garlic or asparagus, it can tweak the scent, but your
odor suddenly changes, and then you haven't altered your diet. Well,
that's a clue that your metabolism or your hormones might
be saying, hey, something's not right here. That might be

(17:02):
a good time to get with your general practitioner and
have that looked at a little bit further. Another myth
is that these these feminine sprays and douches fix vaginal odor,
and that's not correct. I spoke with a g y
N and she told me said that your vagina is
actually self cleaning. So those those sprays, they mess with

(17:27):
your bacterial balance and they can actually make the infections worse.
So ladies, let your bodies, you know, use those signals
to stay natural and get with your your practitioner on
that it knows what it's doing all right. And our
third myth is that feminine sprays in douches fix vaginal odor,

(17:49):
and that's not not necessarily true. I spoke with a
leading g y N and she told me that your
vagina is self cleaning. So those sprays they with your
bacterial balance and they can actually make infections worse. So ladies,
let your body's ecology stay natural and knows what it's doing,

(18:10):
all right. Folks. So, if you're ready to take these
theories into action, let's go through a step by step
approach on what you can do if you notice different
odor types. So if you're noticing that you have a
persistent body odor or an armpit odor, what you can
do is you can switch to cotton clothing in aluminum
free deodorans. Just try for one week. You can document

(18:32):
those changes, and if you've got foot odors, you can
wash with antibacterial soap, dry your feet thoroughly, use foot
powder if you have to, and swap to moisture wicking socks.
And for the women out there for talking about the
vaginal odor, stick with fragrance free soap in cotton underwear,

(18:56):
and like we said, mention skip the sprays. If you
have unusual urine odor, try hydrating until your urine is
more of a pale yellow. And you can also track
what you're using in your diet or supplementation and see
if that has any effect on that as well. If

(19:19):
you have persistent bad breath, I suggest trying to brush
twice daily for at least two minutes. You can floss
and even use a ton scraper, and I always suggest
that you try the Spry dental defense system. It works.
Remember that your ton it actually has thousands of small

(19:40):
almost like hairs that trap bacteria over time, so cleaning
that ton is essential. So all right, folks, Let's also
separate normal from concerning normal sense or body odors might
be that post workout or with spicy meals or the
the hormonal shifts. These you can get a pass there,

(20:05):
But what is more concerning with the odors If you
have persistent changes that cause pain, you have a body discharge,
you have weight loss, or other odors that affect your
confidence and emergency situations with odors where you have that
fruity breath that's a diabetic concern, or if you have
strong infection odors that also cause fever abdominal pain. These

(20:30):
are times that you need to seek medical attention immediately. Then,
of course, if you have questions about body odors or
changes in your body system, give us a call at
eight hundred and six or O six eight eight two
to two. Our team reviews listener health questions every day

(20:50):
and also for articles or replays or other resources, head
over to doctor Bob dot com. And folks, here's what
I want you to take away. Your body is constantly
talking to you, and that might be through sense or odors,
and also through symptoms and through other signs. So I
want you to listen closely because those messages it might

(21:12):
actually save your life. So this week the action steps
they're very simple. Track your normal scent patterns, upgrade one
hygiene habit that's safe, effective and natural, and have one conversation.
It might be the one with your healthcare provider or
a loved one, your spouse, a friend, a family member.

(21:33):
If something is feeling off and you know nos it
knows literally sixty percent of serious health conditions often show
early odor changes, So don't just brush that off. Embrace
it as your body's built in alarm system for health.
All right, we're coming up on a break, folks. When

(21:53):
we come back, we're going to get in more health
information for you. You're listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

let's talk about something that most people overlook and tell

(23:10):
there's a problem, and that's your mouth. Oral health isn't
just about having a bright smile. It's deeply connected to
your total body wellness. Your mouth is like the front
door to your entire system, and keeping it healthy can
impact everything from heart health to immunity. And that's why
I'm excited to tell you about a system I trust

(23:31):
in personally use, and that's the Spray Dental Defense System
now Spry. It's not your run of the mill mouthcare brand.
It's a smart upgrade for anyone who wants to protect
their oral health naturally. And the key ingredient is xylotol
and maybe you've heard of it. It's the gentle, plant
based sweetener that's doing big things for your smile. And

(23:53):
unlike sugar, xylotol doesn't feed bad bacteria, in fact, it
starves them. It helps keep your mouth environment balance, it
reduces plaque, it fights cavities, and it keeps your breath
fresh and here's how I use it, and this is
the way you can do it too. I brush with
Spry toothpaste, I rinse with Spry mouthwash, and I choose

(24:16):
spray gum after meals. That's a simple three step rhythm
that helps me neutralize acids, it protects the enamel of
my teeth, and it keeps my dentist smiling at every visit.
And Spry it makes it easy. You can find their toothpaste,
their gum, their mints in their mouthwash at CVS, Target
sprouts and natural grocers locations. Wherever you're already shopping, Spry's

(24:40):
probably there and ready to add to your routine. And
now it's even better because Spry comes from the same
trusted people who make Clear nasal spray that's spelled x
L e A R, but it's pronounced Clear. It's the
natural nasal spray with xylatol that helps clean and moisturize

(25:01):
your nasal passages. It's amazing for anyone dealing with dry
indoor air or congestion this time of the year. And
speaking on that, how about a little something special for
loyal listeners. We're giving away a Spray Dental Defense bundle
in a Clear nasal spray pack to a few lucky

(25:23):
is call eight hundred six zero six eight A two

why you want to upgrade your oral or your nasal
health routine. It's that simple now, But don't wait these
giveaways they go fast in your spry and your smile.
It deserves that boost. So for more information, check out
Clear dot com again, that's x L e A r

(25:45):
dot com and explore the science behind spry in the
full lineup of Clear products. Because when your mouth and
airways are healthy, everything works better. Your breath, your sleep,
your energy, in your confidence. Go fry, breathe, clear, live
better and keep smiling naturally. All right, folks, it's time

(26:07):
for your health alternative of the week, where we look
at smart natural swaps that can help your body work better,
not harder. In this week's spotlight, one that hits close

(26:36):
to home every morning is we're looking at a natural deodorant,
a cleaner, gentler choice for sweat protection. So let me
ask you, what's the first thing you do after brushing
your teeth in the morning. You grab that stick of
the odorant, You swipe and you move on with that
about your day. Right, But what if I told you
that what you've been putting under those arms, it could

(26:58):
be doing more harm than good Because most conventional antipersperants
are packed with aluminum salts, literally plugging your sweat ducts
and trapping toxins your bodies trying to release. So here's
the better way, and I suggest native deodorant. It's a
natural aluminum free formula that actually works with smooth skin

(27:21):
loving ingredients in good sense that you'll want to wear.
So let's get one thing straight. So what's not the enemy?
Your body has over two and a half million sweat
glands there, you're built in cooling and detoxification system. The
real issue isn't sweat, it's bacteria. And when bacteria break

(27:41):
down proteins in your sweat, that's what creates the odor.
And conventional antipersperans stop you from sweating and with aluminum.
But native deodorant takes a smarter, more natural routine. It
lets your body sweat the way it's supposed to while
neutralizing odor at a source without clogging your pores. Now,

(28:05):
why is native leading the pack in these natural deodorants.
It's because it uses plant based ingredients with proven results,
like coconut oil for in a bacterial protection, uses baking
soda to balance your skins pH and stop odor naturally,
and arrowroot powder that absorbs the excess moisture and it

(28:27):
keeps it keeps you dry without blocking your sweat glands.
And then finally, it uses essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus,
and citrus for those clean natural scents, so no fake
fragrances are harsh chemicals. So if you've got sensitive skin,
you deal with rashes, or you notice those pesky yellow
stains on your shirts, then Native might be a change

(28:50):
that you need. It's also a safer choice for pregnant
or breastfeeding women, athletes, teens, and anyone that's trying to
reduce that daily chemical exposure. And you'll find it's as
tough on odor as it is gentle on your skin. Now,
let's talk about expectations. Switching from a conventional and a
persper into a natural deodorant like Native may take two

(29:13):
to three weeks for your body to adjust. That's because
your sweat glands are waking back up after being plugged
for years and during that short detox period, you might
experience a temporary increase in sweating or even odor, and
that's normal. It's actually your body resetting, so stick with it.
Literally give it some time. So how you apply it

(29:37):
is you just apply Native to a clean, dry skin,
and you can even try applying before bed, and that
gives the natural ingredients time to do their work overnight,
so you wake up fresh and balanced. And if you
do have sensitive skin, look for their baking soda Freeline.
It's Maywick, magnesium hydroxide and zinc oxide. There's a super general,

(30:00):
but they're still effective. So if you're ready to make
the switch, it's going to make your day go about easier.
Because you remember, sweating, it's a sign your body's working right,
so don't fight it. Support it. These natural deodorants like
Native let your your body system breathe easier, It lets
your clothes last longer, and your skin stay balanced and healthy.

(30:23):
So making that switch isn't just about changing a product,
it's about upgrading a daily routine that affects your whole
body wellness. So that's this week's health alternative of the week,
and so go natural, Go gentle with Native, because your
health should never come with aluminum as a side dish.
All right, folks, be right back with more health insights,

superior combination. That's why I only buy Doctor o'heres probiotics.

All right, let's get into our health outrage of the week.
Jeez nk, you don't believe it.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
Come on each to for the health out breach because
it's nothing.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
But we're living in a society that has taught us
to spray, to mask, and to silence one of our
body's most powerful communication systems, and it's costing us our health.
We're going to stick with the topic of body odors today.

(35:25):
In every single day, millions of Americans reach for deodorance, perfumes,
and cover ups to eliminate what we've been conditioned to
see as embarrassing body odors. But here's the truth that
the beauty industry doesn't want you to know your body sense.
They're sophisticated. It's a biological alarm system and it can

(35:46):
save your life. We've been systematically programmed to believe that
any natural body odor equals social failure. You walked down
any drug store aisle and you're bombarded with the messages
twenty four hour protection, confidences, last or never let them
smell you sweat. And now I'm not saying to walk

(36:07):
around in a stinch. I'm saying, pay attention to your
body's signals and make changes in use safe and effective alternatives.
And I want you to consider this. Nearly ninety percent
of Americans use some form of odor masking product daily,
yet fewer than twelve percent can identify even three health
conditions that manifest through scent changes. We're literally silencing our

(36:33):
bodies cry for help because we're too embarrassed to listen. Now,
let's talk about what we're actually ignoring when we mask
these crucial signals. We're going to reinforce some of this
from earlier in the show. That like that fruity breath
that you're covering up with mints, it could be diabetic
keto acidosis and that's a life threatening condition that affects

(36:54):
one hundred and forty thousand Americans annually. And that ammonia
that you're drowning in antiperspriant. That's your kidneys. They might
be telling you that they're failing an early detection sign
that could save your life. Also, that metallic odor that
you're masking with body spray, it could indicate liver dysfunction

(37:17):
and that affects almost five million Americans who don't even
know that they have it. And we talked about the
unusual vaginal odor that you're too embarrassed to mention. You
could be missing bacterial vaginosis, which increases your risk of
sexually transmitted infections by sixty percent when left untreated. So

(37:40):
here's something to think about. We teach our children to
identify the smell of smoke as danger, but we never
teach them to recognize their own bodies distress signals. It's
a healthcare system that's completely failed us. Here. When was
the last time your doctor asked about changes in your
body odor? So when did a health class teach you

(38:02):
that your sudden shifts in your natural scent could indicate
thyroid orders, or infections or metabolic conditions. That's what we're
talking about here. I bet it's never and that's a
criminal negligence of our public health education. We're sending people
into the world armed with credit cards for cosmetics, but

(38:24):
defenseless against our own biology. That we're creating a generation
that knows every celebrity perfume, but that can't distinguish between
normal sweating. This obsession with masking instead of understanding is
creating a dangerous cycle. These delayed diagnosis that could prevent
serious complications, that shame and isolation that keeps people from

(38:47):
seeking help. It's missed opportunities for early intervention. These are
wasted healthcare dollars on these advanced treatments that could have
been prevented with something that your body's already trying to
tell you. The research it shows that seventy thirty percent
of people experience unusual body odor changes. They wait for
more than six months before consulting a health care provider.

(39:10):
That's six months of delayed results. It's potentially missing those
warning signals. It's six months of advancing the disease and
six months of unnecessary suffering. So we need to see
how we can change this immediately. Instead of teaching our
children to be ashamed of natural body functions, we need
to empower them with knowledge. Instead of reaching for the

(39:33):
cover up, we need to reach for awareness. Your body.
It's not the enemy. It's actually your most sophisticated diagnostic
tool and it's been trying to communicate with you this
entire time. So again, here's your action plan. Here's how
you take back control. You establish that baseline and notice
that your normal sense, so you can identify any changes

(39:55):
and question those sudden shifts, these new or unusual odors
that last more than a week. They warrant your attention
and document the patterns to track when changes occur, whether
it's with diet or stress or for women, your monthly cycle,
and if you need to seek that help, speak up boldly,
discuss these odor changes with your healthcare provider without shame,

(40:19):
and we need to educate others. Share it with your
family and your friends. Odor is. It might be something
that they're embarrassed to talk about, but might need to.
So stop apologizing for your biology and start listening to it. Then,
next time someone tries to tell to sell you the
embarrassment in a bottle, remember this. Your body sense aren't

(40:42):
mistakes to be fixed, their messages to be hurt your nose,
and it's time you did too. That's what week's helped outrage.

Speaker 2 (43:20):

you for tuning in this hour and becoming part of

remember you can call us at eight hundred and six

question online at doctor Bob dot com. Well, folks, let's

(43:43):
end with our health mystery of the week, staying with
the theme of smells, right, I want you to imagine
waking up to a heavenly scent of caramel swirling through
your home. It's thick, it's buttery, and it's sweet. Only

(44:03):
there's no dessert baking, and there's no logical source. For most,
it's an odd curiosity. But for one seemingly healthy fifty
seven year old, it was the first and only clue
that something deadly was blooming inside the brain. This individual
was a picture of good health. He's active, upbeat, and

(44:24):
he's living life without major ailments. Yet for weeks, a strange,
consistent smell persisted, that carmel smell no one could detect.
That wasn't one's imagination or nostalgia. It was phantosmia. It's
the perception of smells that aren't there, and unknown to

(44:47):
this person, the brain was sending a subtle, yet desperate warning,
and doctors would later uncover an aggressive brain tumor that
was operating silently. Its only announcement was this phantom sweetness
in the air and phantasmia. It affects about six percent
of people at some point, and most cases are harmless.

(45:08):
It's linked to sinus issues, allergies, or even medications, but
occasionally they serve as red flags for something catastrophic. These
brain tumors, like glioblastoma, they often manifest manifest through intense
headaches and seizures, or some cognitive decline. Yet in this case,

(45:28):
the tumor operated in a stealth mode. It was nestled
under the smell cortex. It's a region responsible for processing scent,
and it was triggering sensory misfires that the mind interpreted
as candy smelling caramel. It's a chilling reminder that our
bodies have this built in alarm system. It's delicate, it's

(45:49):
easily mistaken, but it's capable of signaling danger long before
visible symptoms appear, and research it shows that nearly sixty
percent of phantom smell experiences involve pleasant odors like vanilla
or floral sense or caramel. That's not random science tists.
They suspect that these smells are tied to emotional linked

(46:11):
areas of the brain, meaning disruptions in those regions could
awaken comforting sense and memories. So this mystery, it reveals
how a tuned our bodies truly are. Our senses don't
just intercept the outside world, they translate inner health as well.
Awareness transforms fear into power, and when these strange sensations arise,

(46:33):
we need to listen to the with curiosity instead of panic.
And in the end, sometimes the sweetest scent carry the
most urgent warning. This has been your health mystery of
the week again, folks, thanks for tuning in and wish
you a well week. We will see you next time
on The Doctor Bob Martin Show.
