Could the very pills meant to keep you ‘healthy’ be setting the stage for cancer? This week, Dr. Bob
Martin peels back the label on a medical blind spot that’s costing lives. From long‑term acid blockers and hormone therapies to certain blood pressure and anti‑diabetic drugs, emerging research reveals a
troubling truth—some prescriptions may quietly increase cancer risk the longer you take them. But it’s not about fear—it’s about facts and smarter choices. Tune in and find out which medications deserve a
second look—and how to work with your doctor to build a healing plan, not a harmful one.

with a topic that I'm going to be talking about

(01:46):
here shortly that's gonna maybe shock you. It may cause
you to have sleepless nights or blood pressure issues. I
don't want it to, but it could, mainly because it's
so disturbing. Medical drugs taken by fifty percent of Americans

(02:07):
raise the risk of cancer years after you stop taking them.
We're going to get into that topic because you need
to know about this.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
It's going to be extensive this hour.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
That's half of the population in the United States taking
a medical drug in the past or you're currently taking
it right now that could cause you.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
To have cancer as a result.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Of taking that prescribed medical drug that's supposedly safe and
effective according to the FDA, who's a wholly owned subsidiary
of Big Pharma and all the minions that dole it out. Now,
I also want to let you know that this hour,
We've got for you the health alternative of the week,
the health outrage of the week, got a product recall

(02:54):
to tell you about. And then we'll finish off the
hour with the health mystery and try to squeeze in
a phone call or two as well.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
And that leads me to this.

the website doctor bob dot com spelling out the word
doctor dctr bob dot com.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
All right, let's.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Get into this. You need to know this information. This
information was probably dropped in the news. Pharmaceutical companies do this.
They figure out ways to hide information by dropping it
into the news low on the page twelfth page in
or on a Friday night or a Saturday, so you
don't hear about it, you don't learn about it, but

(04:33):
you learn about it here on this show because we
are fearless as it relates to informing you about important
health related matters. And when something is as large and
as important as this, we bring it.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
We bring it.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Medical drugs taken by fifty percent of Americans, raise the
risk of cancer years after you stop taking them. Some
of the most common medications taken by tens and tens
of millions of Americans leave a lasting impact on the
body long after a person stops taking them. That's what

(05:07):
the research shows. That's what the research suggests. It's not
me saying this drugs can save your life. Certain drugs
when used judiciously, when used appropriately, let's just say antibiotics.
You got a severe bacterial infection. Yeah, antibiotics are a
miracle drug. They're often prescribed unnecessarily though, but we don't

(05:30):
get into that right now. I want to get this
information out. We're talking about a whole long list of
drugs that when you stop them, even though you took
them years ago, they could actually increase.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Your risk of cancer.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Here they are beta blockers. Beta blockers are commonly prescribed
for high blood pressure and heart conditions. There are fourteen
different kinds of beta blocker drugs that mds prescribed to
their patients. But the only problem is when they prescribe

(06:05):
these beta blocker drugs for their high blood pressure or
their heart conditions, they don't tell them, oh, by the way,
your blood pressure may go down, but you may get
cancer later on.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
As a result of taking this drug. You still down
for this.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
No, they don't get an opportunity to hear that, maybe
because the doctor doesn't know. But these latest findings should
get your attention in a hurry because they were linked
these drugs, these high blood pressure drugs and heart related
drugs were linked to changes. Here's the payoff. Here's how
they are linked to cancer because they destroy the gut bacteria.

(06:46):
The microbiome in your gas inteslo track, which is where
your immune system's at. And if your immune system gets
knocked out because you're taking medical drugs, it leaves you
highly susceptible, higher susceptible to cancer. That's what they figured out,
and that is to me, something that everybody needs to

(07:09):
be disclosed to when they're being prescribed any drug. By
the way, this would be like your conversation with your doctor.
You go into the doctor, you got X Y Z condition.
Of course, the doctor within six minutes gets the prescription
pad out, because it's all about treating symptoms, kicking the
can down the road, hoping for the best right and

(07:31):
sometimes that's important and necessary. But when the doctor's got
that prescription pad and they're furiously writing prescriptions for you say, oh,
by the way, doc, could you tell me, because I
recently heard on the Doctor Bob Martin Show that there
are a whole bunch of drugs that fifty percent of
Americans can take, that are prescribed by medical doctors and

(07:55):
okayed by the FDA, that can raise a person's risk
of cancer down the road, even when I don't take them,
even when I stopped taking the drugs that you're getting
ready to prescribe to me, So doctor, can you tell me,
excuse me, does this drug you're getting ready to prescribe
does it cause my microbiome to be damaged? That could

(08:15):
set me up for cancer down the road. And if
they can't answer that, run, don't walk. If they can't
answer that, you got a big decision to make.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
The same was true. By the way, it's not just
the beta.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Blocker drugs for high blood pressure and heart conditions. We're
talking about drugs like for anxiety, anti anxiety drugs, part
of the benzodiazepin class of drugs like xanax and valium
and a whole bunch of other ones. Antidepressant drugs same
category had similar carryover effects, as did drugs for stomach problems, acid, indigestion,

(08:55):
and heartburn. All of these drugs, and there are many
of them, can disrupt the all important gastrointestinal friendly bacteria
which you need to thrive and not get cancer. These
medical drugs and others obliterate we haven't even talked about

(09:17):
antibiotics shut They obliterate or disrupt or rock the world
of that good bacteria in your gut, setting you up
for a risk of cancer down the road, yet no
extra charge. The microbiome of the bodies, collection of beneficial bacteria.
It's so key to your health. It's health. Your health

(09:40):
relies on it on the diverse population of this bacteria
for fighting disease. And if it gets rocked or destroyed
by medical drugs you're taking, uh, then you got a
worse problem on your hands down the road called cancer.
Because these these important bacteria, the friendly bacteria, help you
absor or nutrients and regulate your immune system and all

(10:02):
your metabolic systems. It is influenced by everything from the diet,
your lifestyle, and the drugs, the medical drugs, the prescription
drugs a person takes, including common prescription drugs. So if
you're just tuning into this conversation to oka anywhere, because

(10:23):
we need.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
To continue talking about this topic.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Medical drugs taken by fifty percent of Americans raise the
risk of cancer years after you stop taking them.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
But I'm going to return to this topic after this break.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
We need to after the break also get to this
week's installment of the Health Alternative of the Week, which
you'll be interested in learning about Bottom of the Hour,
the Hell Outrage of the Week. So we got a
lot left in this program. Please don't go anywhere you
are tuned into the doctor Bob Martin show.

on to as many people as again, including your social
media platform.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
They will love you for it.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Now we're going to get back to this very controversial topic.
It's really not controversial. It's real and you need to
know about it so that you can assess the risk
versus the benefits when somebody is about to prescribe you
a medical drug, because now we're learning that medical drugs
taken by fifty percent half the population adults in America

(13:51):
can raise the risk of cancer years after you stop
taking the drug. That is amazing, and we'll get back
to that topic shortly, but before we do that, it
is time now, ladies and gentlemen for this week's installment
of the Health Alternative of the Week. Oh, this is

(14:22):
such a great health alternative of the week. Thank you
to Brittle, Thank you to Cheryl Cheryl Lynn, she's the
one who.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Is the author of this, the recommender of this.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
And it is a great time of the year to
consider this, especially going into the fall and winter months
that we're getting ready to go into, which is sick
time that people get sick, and it has to do
with the surprising health benefits.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Of herbal tea.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Yeah, herbal tea delicious there are thousands of different herbal
teas to select from, delicious herbal teas. And so when
you're thinking about that coffee in the more, think maybe
once in a while you throw a cup of herbal tea.
Or if you want to extricate yourself altogether from the
central nervous system stimulating psychoactive drug caffeine, you can swing

(15:11):
over to herbal teas. Now you might say, oh, those
herbal teas are boring, I've had them. No, no, no, You've
just got to keep going until you find one that
you really like and then lock it in. And that
way you won't get the caffeine crash when you stop
drinking it, or the headaches when you stop drinking, and
you won't get the jitters, you won't get the acid reflux,
you won't get the loss of vitamin C and iron

(15:32):
that caffeine causes, and on and on and on.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Did you know that a.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Relaxing cup of herbal tea is great? It's a great
way to support your immune system.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
It is.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
With winter fast approaching, make it tea time on a
regular basis. My family loves sun teas. Have you ever
had sun teas?

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Well?

Speaker 2 (15:56):
We go to natural grocers to pick up different flavors
of package organic herbal teas. That's key, get the organic
herbal tees. Once home, these herbal teas are placed in
the bags. You pull out the bags, different flavors. It
placed into a one quart mason jar, a glass mason jar.

(16:19):
You fill it up with purified water. You put the
lid on the jar, and you put it out, and
you put it out in the sunlight for two to
three hours. Two to three hours later in the sunlight
with these herbal tea bags in this clean water in
a mason jar, the sun changes it up and infuses

(16:41):
the herbal essences and the nutrients and all the medicinal
activity into the water.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
And then you drink it.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
You can drink it cold if you like, or heat
it up. It's amazing how many blends have been created
of herbal teas. But more importantly, I know they're supporting
your immune system and all kinds of other systems in
your body by getting these specific herbal nutrients that you

(17:08):
otherwise wouldn't get in coffee. Now, teas offer numerous health benefits.
We're talking about helping you to even lower your LDL cholesterol,
lower your triglycerides, reducing inflammation.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
List goes on and on.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
There are herbal teas out there to help you with
lowering your blood sugar. Green tea as especially can be
helpful with regulating blood sugar and keeping them within normal range.
Now there's a little bit of caffeine and green tea,
but not as much of course as coffee, and it
has something in it called theianine, which is an amino

(17:45):
acid which actually taps down the effect of the caffeine
in the green tea, so you don't have to worry
about being all amped up like you are on regular
coffee or those energy drinks that are horrible for you.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Energy drinks horrible.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Now, these herbal teas can also promote healthier bones, so
move over milk. Yes, Certain herbal teas like robios are
a great source of minerals essential to strong bones, such
as calcium and manganese. A whole variety of herbal teas
can even soothe your digestive issues like that indigestion, your heartburn.

(18:26):
A warm cup of verbal tea can sue stomach discomfort.
While some flavors like cammamle cammabile tea is anti spasmodic.
So if you've got irtable bowel syndrome or kind of
cramping in that, oh, bring on the camamile and get
rid of the cramps and nausea in the diarrhea. Herbal
teas are fantastic. They're full of antioxidants to boost your

(18:48):
skin health properties in your skin from damage from the sunlight,
reducing signs of aging and wrinkling.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Yes, herbal teas can do all of that. Not only that,
they can help you manage your stress.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
There's a lot of herbal tea's out there that can
are like anti anxiety, anti depressive. They help people with
sleep issues, depending on what type of sleep issue you have.
Particularly in my favorite is Cama mile tea for its
ability to reduce stress anxiety and it has almost like

(19:22):
a mild chill sedata factor, but not to the point
where you can't drive a car or anything like that
like drugs like Lunesta and all these other drugs no good.
So this week's health alternative of the week is the
surprising health benefits of herbal teas. Learn about them, enjoy them,
and if you can get over to the natural grocery

(19:44):
stores natural grocery stores get the organic type. They are
kid friendly, caffeine free, loved by kids and parents. Juicy, fruity,
yummy teas, delicious, hot or cold, the perfect sugar free
alternative to juices, which I'm against, and soda pops, which
I'm really against, and the full throttled java caffeine. Give

(20:07):
that up too. While you're at it, get on these
herbal teas. You're gonna thank me for a big time.
And if you can't find them in your store, go
to the website naturalgrocers dot com naturalgrocers dot com for
this week's health alternative of the Week, Surprising health benefits
of herbal tea.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
All right, now, back to the conversation.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Of these medical drugs that are prescribed by medical doctors,
fifty percent of which can risk cancer in individuals who
have taken the drugs even when you stop the drugs.
That's what the latest information of new study confirm that
commonly prescribed drugs medical drugs ranging from antibiotics to antidepressants,

(20:49):
consistently reduce the diversity of gut bacteria, that friendly bacteria
you have to have to be healthy. Sometimes for years later.
It's like a scorched earth. It's like setting off an
Adam Baum inside your digestive track to take these medical drugs,
and you know what, many of them are unnecessary. I'm

(21:10):
not saying to stop your drugs. Only the medical doctor
who's trained in that pharmacy or a pharmacist can do that.
But I got to tell you there's a lot of
unnecessary drugs that are prescribed in America, and that's why
it's important to get second opinions in non life threatening situations.
On the other hand, of course, we know that certain
drugs can be life saving when used judiciously. The problem

(21:31):
in the United States are not used judiciously. They're used excessively.
We as Americans take more drugs than any other country
on the planet, and yet we spend more for the
sick care that we get, and we're one of the
sickest nations on the planet, industrialized nation.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
So figure that one out. It doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
That's why you got to be your own best doctor
most of the time and find other doctors who will
give you alternatives.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
I'm doctor Bob Martin.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
Everybody's got a may mistakes, but everybody's got a choice
to make.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
Everybody needs a leap of faith.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
When are you taking yours.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Money you in fun.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
I welcome you back to this hour the Doctor Bob
Martin Show.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Doctor Adam Brockman's off this week. You'll be back next week.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
And I'll also get back to very shortly here the
topic that we started this hour off discussing, letting you
know that prescribe medical drugs taken by about fifty percent
of Americans put you at risk of cancer years after
you stopped taking these drugs. We'll return to that conversation.

(22:49):
Some of you may be taking them right now and
some of you may have taken them in the past.
We'll return to that conversation shortly. But first we have
this week's installment of the Health Outrage of the Week.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Ses they don't.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Believe it come on each time for the health Outrage
because it's nothing, Bud.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
It is outrageous. I can't even believe people make this
stuff up, but they do. Have you heard of something
called bluetoothing.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I can't believe it. Bluetoothing Get this.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Bluetoothing is a nauseating new trend in fueling a surge
in deadly disease. Drug users have found a dangerous and
cheap way to get a high that is fueling a
surge in HIV diagnoses. Let me remind you what HIV is.

(23:50):
That stands for human immuno deficiency virus. It's a virus
that attacks the body's immune system. Without treatment, it can
lead to AIDS acquired immuno deficiency syndrome. There are currently
no effective cures. Once people get HIV, they have it

(24:10):
for life, even though they can keep their tighters down
and keep their CD four levels up. I get that
with these ediviral drugs, but you don't want it, and
so now people who are drug users are bluetoothing. The
practice involves injecting yourself with the blood of another drug

(24:32):
user in an effort to share their high.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
You know, like a twofer. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Already common in Fiji, the island of Fiji. The country
of Fiji, the practice has driven an elevenfold in the
surge of HIV cases on the Pacific island nation in
just a decade, and in South Africa, where about eighteen

(25:01):
percent of drug users are estimated to use the method,
it has been linked to high HIV cases among drug users.
There are now concerns that the practice of bluetoothing sounds
like something you do.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
You know, with computers or headphones or but it's not.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
It's about sharing blood from another drug user, injecting their
blood into your body because they've taken a drug and
they're going to share their high of that drug with
you by having you take some of their blood.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
It's so bizarre. Who would think about this.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
There are now concerns that this practice, called bluetoothing, also
known as flash blooding, could come to the United States,
where the rate of new HIV diagnosis has dropped twelve
percent over the last four years. Doctor Brian Zanoni, a

(26:06):
drug expert at Emory University, warned, in settings of poverty,
it's a cheap method of getting high with a lot
of consequences besides HIV, HEPSI and others. Basically, you basically
getting two doses for one price. About forty seven point

(26:36):
seven million Americans age twelve and older report using an
illicit drug within the last month. Oh my god, you
know the numbers. I mean, why are we a drug nation?
Why do these things crop up? Why do they happen
because they can That's how.

Speaker 8 (26:54):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
We take way too many drugs, which it's a drug
related culture. We're one of only two countries that actually
advertise pharmaceutical drugs on television all day, every day, to
the point where we're brainwashed into believing that if we
don't have that drug, we have a deficiency of that drug.
We should take that drug and our life will be better.

(27:17):
And again, I'm not here to knock drugs. I'm here
to tell you that we use way too many of them.
We wonder why our kids get into drugs. Yeah, they
watch parents taking their drugs. What you do speak so
loudly that what you say cannot be heard. You tell
your kids not to smoke, but you smoke. You tell

(27:39):
your kids not to take drugs, but you're swallowing pharmaceutical
drugs all day long. Come on, now, think about it
all right, back to this conversation about medical drugs taken
by fifty percent of Americans raising the risk of cancer
years after you stop taking them. The less diverse the
microbiome is, which is that important bacteria in your gut

(28:01):
that can be rocked by taking these medical drugs. That's
what the linkage is. Taking medical drugs weakens the gut barrier,
causes chronic inflammation, and compromises your immune system. This state
of imbalance, known as disbiosis, creates a state of chronic

(28:23):
inflammation and a weakened immune system that is recognized a
recognized breeding ground for cancer development, specifically and especially on
the rise colorectal cancer. Maybe that's part of the smoking
gun as to why we're seeing all these young people
getting coorectal cancer, because people are taking more drugs at
younger ages because of the indoctrination of the medical system.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
In the United States.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Don't cope, just take dope and relief is just a
swallow away concept. No drugs should only be taken when necessary,
and a lot of times they're not. This dysbiosis I
just talked about creates a gut environment dominated by cancer
promoting bacteria, which can trigger tumor growth by stimulating blood

(29:09):
vessel formation, uncontrolled cell division, and the invasion of cell death.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
So you need to know that.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
You may be currently taking and you should ask your
doctor or your pharmacist whether it's an anti anxiety drug,
whether it's an antidepressant you're on, whether you're taking high
blood pressure drugs or drugs for a heart condition, or
you're taking drugs to soothe your stomach because you have
heartburn or acid indigestion. There are tons of drugs that

(29:41):
Americans are taking on a daily basis, and when their
symptoms get better, they stop the drugs. But that doesn't
matter because the study that's out says these medical drugs
taken by fifty percent of Americans raise the risk of
cancer years after you stop taking them, and nobody connects
the dots. Well, now they're connecting the dots. And this

(30:04):
is not a call to action for you to go
take your pharmaceuticals that you're taking and dump them into
the toilet or burn them. Ask your doctor if you
are on any kind of medication that can disrupt your
gastrointestinal flora the good bacteria, because if that's the case,
you are at risk. Ninety one hundred and eighty six

of these medical drugs tested disrupted the gut microbiome, and
for many, including antibiotics and antidepressants and proton pump inhibbitor drugs,
the effect persisted over three years after stopping them, three
years after the last dose you swallowed. WHOA, It takes

If you're a big sports fan like me, sometimes the
best part about watching a football game are the pre
and post game shows. Well, it's the same for probiotics.
The most important part of probiotics are the prebiotics and
post biotics that come along. Not all probiotics have this
superior combination. That's why I only buy Doctor o'heres probiotics.
You see, prebiotics feed the probiotic colonies and your intestines,

(33:26):
and post biotics are the organic nutrients produced by doctor
o'heres three year fermentation process that become the foundation for
long term colonization of the good bacteria in your body.
This is so important. No other probiotic formula has this.
As I get older, I want to protect my health
the best I can and use only the best supplements
that are available. So score a touchdown for your health.

All right, welcome, Welcome back to this hour of the
Doctor Bob Martin Show.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Doctor Adam Brockman. We'll be back with us next week.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
He's getting some much needed time off, well deserved time
off with the family. Good for him. And uh, you
may be just tuning into the program. If you are,
I want to let you know that the first hour
of the program I covered a topic which is important,
and it's all about your breakfast food how to protect

(35:02):
your brain from memory loss by selecting certain foods in
your diet, particularly breakfast foods. If you didn't hear that,
you can hit it and hear about it in the
podcastlibrary over at doctor Bob dot com or podcast anywhere
on many of the major podcast platforms. The other topic

(35:27):
that we've covered starting this hour at the top of
the hour, if you're just tuning into the program, is
how medical drugs taken by fifty percent of Americans raise
the risk of cancer years after you take them. And
we're talking about a lot of different drugs, over one
hundred and eighty nine of them, which is shocking to

(35:47):
some people. It all has to do with those drugs
decimating your good, healthy gaster and testinal flora. I think
everybody taking any kind of medical drugs ug should be
taking something to refluoridate, re establish that good microbiota, that

(36:07):
good microbiome. A fantastic choice choice of mind personally, and
doctor Brockman's is doctor Ohir is probiotics. If you have
to take drugs, and sometimes you do. You should concurrently
take right before you go to bed at night, maybe
three to six. Doctor o'here's probiotics. And even if you've

(36:29):
stopped those drugs. I was talking about categories of those drugs,
whether it be antidepressants, any anxiety drugs, drugs for your stomach,
or your heartburn or your indigestion. Uh, and you already
stopped them. Well, guess what the studies are saying. It
could the cancer could come years from now. So get
started on refluoridating, eating those fermented foods, and making good choices.

(36:53):
All right, let's go to your telephone calls again. I

And you're talking about how low can solve problems. Well, all,
remember the Golden rule, do unto others as you would

(38:05):
have others do unto you. That would solve a lot
of problems. And I believe we were all put on
this earth to help each other. Just just opening a
door for someone, it'll make them smile, because when you

(38:26):
make somebody smile, it makes you smile. My mom died
at the age of eighty eight in twenty twenty two,
and she used to listen to the Doctor Bob Martin
show all the time.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
All right, well, Dana, thank you so very much for
your call, and I agree with you. Your call is
more of a comment, I think, than a question talking
about how love is important. And of course love is
you know, the meaning of life. Of course, I've always
told my kids is to love and to be loved.
That's the meaning of life. To love and to be loved.

loneliness is very dangerous if you're by yourself. However, where
do people go to meet other people? When churches really
aren't doing what they used to do, and there don't

(39:50):
seem to be a lot of programs where you can
just go meet a random stranger other than just going
home to watch TV. It seems to be more and
more difficult well to make these connections. If you've got
any ideas, that would be great. Thank you.
