I pray for my Jewish brothers and sisters. I pray
for their safety. I pray for their salvation, that they
would receive Ishia as hamashiak as the Messiah. Pray for
their leadership, Pray for our leadership. Praying for America, praying
for them to wake up and realize that the Word
of God is real and He is real. We need

his grace and his mercy right now. I pray for
all the people right now in the Middle East, especially Iran.
Really dark days for them, but I'm praying and believing
that freedom is coming, the light is coming, the sunshine
is coming for them. No matter what man plans, the
Lord's plans will prevail. I pray for the fatherless, the widows,

the persecuted, and the martyr, the points spirit, the bound,
the oppressed, and those that are victims of injustice. Pray
against the slaughter of the innocents, both in an arrow
the womb, for the missing and exploited children who are
being taken into human sex trafficking, and all those that
have been snatched into that dark, demonic endeavor. I pray

for our Jewish brothers and sisters. The anti Semitism is suffering.
Pray for the Church, those that are being slaughtered and
persecuted for their faith, losing everything's, their families, their homes,
their places of worship, and it just doesn't seem like
the world cares about either. I pray against the plans

and the efforts of the spirit of the Antichrist which
are behind everything I've just mentioned.

Let's be the thing that restrains him and holds him

So we're continuing the topic we had last week. When
the days are evil, see then that you walk circumspectfully,
not as fools, but as wise redeeming the time, because
the days are evil. Esians five, Verses fifteen and sixteen
Paul's in admonishing us to walk carefully, to live life
(07:48):
with honor, purpose and courage, shunning those who tolerate and
enable evil, and to be wise, to be sensible, intelligent,
discerning people, that we would make the most of our
time on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each and
every opportunity, using it with wisdom and diligence. Because the

days we are living in are filled with evil, what
are we supposed to do?

Share the gospel, make disciples, get them baptized, take every
advantage given to us for service to the kingdom, and
warfare against the enemy. And that part is where we
are looking deeply into this topic because of where we
are in the prophetic clock. Never forget that we were

once darkness, but now we are the light in the Lord.
Walk as children of the light, For the fruit of
the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth. Finding
out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no
fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose
them Ephesians five eight through eleven.

How do we.

Expose them by walking in the light, by being the
light of the world, by behaving as we should behave Now,
Paul using the phrase because the days are evil was
communicating a sense of urgency because of how extensive evil was.

Then I say it's even more so now. So we
need to redeem the time, and that involves resistance against
the enemy. We can't sit back, we can't sit down,
we can't act like we have nothing to do, because
the Lord has given us tools to do something. So
(09:47):
let's go once again to Ephesian's six, starting verse ten. Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the
power of His might. Put on the the whole armor
of God, that you may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle
(10:08):
against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this age, against the
spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take
up the whole armor of God, that you may be
able to withstand the evil day. Withstand in the evil day,
(10:30):
and having done all to stand, stand therefore, having girded
your waste with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel
of Peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, with
which you'll be able to quench all the fiery darts
(10:51):
of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word
of God. Praying always with all prayers, application in the Spirit,
being watchful to the send, with all persevererence and supplication
for all the saints and for me. Paul says that
utterance may be given to me, that I may open

my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel.
Life Application Bible Commentary says we are engaged in a
spiritual battle all believers, not some. All believers find themselves
subject to Satan's attacks because they're no longer on Satan's side.
(11:36):
Paul tells us to use every piece of God's armor
to resist Satan's attacks. And stand true to God in
the midst of those attacks. When you leave his side,
whether just from sin or in my case, having the
being in bondage to the powers of darkness and all
(11:56):
that went with it, there is retaliation. So Paul tells
us three times as believers to stand against the devil's schemes,
which is the spiritual battle that takes place against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. If you didn't
listen last week, you need to, because we went to

great depth about who those are. Matthew Henry commentary said,
here is a general exhortation to constancy in our he
says Christian course, I'll leave it as it's written, and
to encourage in our spiritual warfare. Is not our life

a warfare. It is so, for we struggle with the
common calamities of human life.

are to apply yourselves to your work and duty as
soldiers Christian soldiers of the Cross, and it is requisite
that a soldier be stout hearted and well armed. Well,
we are well armed God's given us out of his

armory the weapons of our warfare. Be strong in the
Lord and in the Power's mind. That's how the whole
thing starts out. Let the soldier be well armed by
the power of the Lord, because without it, his armor
won't do him any good. We're under his power. His
(13:53):
armor natural strength does nothing for us. Spiritual strength and
courage are necessary for spiritual warfare. Be strong in the
Lord means we have no sufficient strength of our own.
And all the casualties I've seen in spiritual warfare were
(14:16):
mostly because people tried to do it on their own.
They tried to do it without God, without following his orders,
and without doing what the Word said do, and they suffered.
For us, we need supernatural strength for a powerful, supernatural enemy.
(14:36):
So the several ranks of demonic powers formed into a
government working together to destroy us. A subtle, sneaky enemy
who has thousands of ways to seduce unstable souls. Matthew
(14:56):
Henry commentary goes on to say, our natural courage is
as perfect cowardice, and our natural strength as perfect weakness.
But all of our sufficiency is of God. In his strength.
We must go forth and go on by the actings
of faith.

We must fetch in grace and help from Heaven to
enable us to do that which ourselves we cannot do.
Our walk and our work and our warfare. We should
stir up ourselves to resist temptations in reliance upon God's

all sufficiency in the omnipotence of his might. Let me
read that last line again. We should stir up ourselves
to resist temptations in reliance upon God's all sufficiency and
the omnipotence of his might. You cannot do this on
(16:02):
your own. You're dealing with an enemy that is thousands
of years old. They have perfected their techniques. They know
what works and what doesn't. They've been watching you. They
have what's called intelligence gathered about you. They know what
your likes and dislikes are. They know what your past was.
(16:26):
They know how to seduce you. You need the alle
sufficiency of God and his power in your life. Verse
sixteen said, above all, taking the shield of faith with
which you'll be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked one. Now we're seeing the aggression and
(16:49):
the attack of the enemy fiery darts. What do we do.
We have to have a shield of faith. We must
have faith in our spiritual warfare. Faith, trusting in the Lord,
trusting in your shoe as our savior, Trusting in God
as our father, and that he will meet our needs
(17:11):
in evil times. No fear, none whatsoever. Oh, it's easy
for you to say, rich and well, you got to realize, guys,
I have probably seen more demons fallen angels. I've probably
seen more of that than many of you that are listening.
(17:31):
So I know that I have to put my faith
in God. I know what we are up against. I
have no fear because I know who my Father is,
I know who my Lord is. I know that the
power in me, the Holy Spirit, is the same power
that raise the Lord from the dead and spoke them
into existence. But I also know that to wield it
(17:53):
properly and to make the right decision, I need the
help of the Holy Spirit above all means. Take the shield,
use it against everything. It protects the entire armor that
could easily have been translated overall, don't walk out there
without the shield of faith. Don't walk out there without
(18:15):
your faith intact and empowered. Now, the Roman shield Paul's
talking about was two and a half feet wide by
four feet long. It was an oblong shield made of
wood and leather, and that indicates that the warfare is
going to take place within a regiment or a heavy infantry,
not a little round shield that used for close quarters combat.
(18:41):
So this was made of wood wrapped in leather. And
they knew that there would be flaming arrows involved, so
they would soak the leather so that when the darts
landed on them, they would go out. And when the
Roman legioneers fought together, they would close ranks, the front
row holding the shields forward, those behind them holding the
(19:04):
shields above them, and they were virtually in vulnerable to
any attack from flaming arrows, which means what, we're in
this war together. You're not alone, ranger. You're in a
war with others. You're in an infantry. We have to
band together, we have to close ranks. Now, the armor
(19:25):
of God's Shield with texas from the flaming arrows sent
our way and then the Greek word for darts is
belos or belet for singular means a missile or a
throne dart. A dart was a weapon designed by the
enemy to injure, disable, or kill. It's not a game.
(19:45):
We're not playing for points. We're playing for souls. We're
playing for keeps. And these flaming arrows were sharp piercing
projectiles that in Paul's day, they were dipped in a
flammable substance and then set on fire just before being launched.
(20:08):
So they're not wandering around with their arrows lit. You
can see them coming. No, that arrow doesn't get lit
till just before it's been fired, which means you always
have to be on guard. You always have to be ready,
because the purpose of those darts, those fiery darts, is
(20:28):
to cause wide spread destruction in our lives and even
death if they can manage it. We need faith, faith
to put out whatever the enemy sends our way. And
without that shield, they're going to ignite a fire of compromise, disobedience,
(20:51):
and sin in our lives. And I said the wood
and the leather was soaked in water before battle. Well,
our shield is soaked in the water of the Word
Romans ten seventeen. So then faith comes by hearing and
hearing by the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing
(21:16):
what is told, and what has heard comes by the
preaching of the message that comes from the lips of
the Messiah himself. Because He is the Word. That's where
our faith is in. Our faith is in him, our
faith is in what he said. That's why I make
such a big deal of the read letter basics. It's
(21:40):
not our opinion, it's his. Because the shield that He's
given us is designed to be fire proof, which means
our faith in God makes us fireproof. Doesn't mean you're
not going to be attacked. It just means you have
the ability to withstand the attack. And that phrase, you know,
(22:06):
flaming arrows of the evil one, the fiery darts. It's
a metaphor for the internal and external spiritual battle that
all believers face. I don't care who you are, I
don't care how long you've ben at this. Every one
of us faces a spiritual battle. And Paul's depiction shows
(22:28):
us that the nature of these attacks is to tempt
us to sin. That's why in the Lord's Prayer Matthew
six thirteen. We pray, do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is
the kingdom and the power and the glory forever I'm in.
Satan can't make us do anything. The only time that
(22:50):
he has that kind of power is when somebody's completely
demon possessed. No, he has to trick us, he has
to tempt us. He has to say things our way
and make us choose to do wrong. One Corinthians ten
thirteen tells me, no temptation has overtaken you, except such
(23:10):
as is common to man. But God is faithful who
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you
are able. But with the temptation will also make the
way of escape that you may be able to bear it.
Now you would think, well, Lord, why do I have
to bear it? Why are you putting me through this?
You need strength, You need to build up your resistance.
(23:33):
You need to understand how to use that shield of faith.
You cannot. It's like when a baby's born. You don't
say to them, okay, go on, go outfeed yourself, have
a nice life. That be trained that have to grow.
We have to help them. It's the same thing. As
a believer, you have to get stronger, you have to
(23:54):
get go through stuff, and somebody's got to disciple you
to help you, not to walk it for you, but
to be able to offer a scripture and encouragement as
you go along the way. In this fallen world. The
command was the disciple. And I think that's the greatest
(24:15):
trick the enemy played on. One of the greatest tricks
the enemy played on the church was to get us
to stop doing that.

Oh, let people pray the.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Prayer of salvation, hand them a Bible, tell them when
the church services are, and then let them go on
their way. That's not how it's supposed to be. But
He's going to be with us through these trials. James One,
starting verse twelve, Blessed happy to be envied is the
man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation,
(24:48):
For when he has stood the test and been approved,
he will receive the victor's crown of life, which God
has promised to those who love him. Let no one
s I say when he is tempted, I am tempted
from God. For God is incapable of being tempted by
what is evil, and he himself tempts no one, but
(25:10):
every person is tempted when he's drawn away and enticed
and baited by his own evil desires, his own lust
or passions. Then the evil desire, when it has conceived,
give birth to sin, and sin, when is fully matured,
brings forth death. Right there in James one twelve through fifteen,
(25:32):
we see the process of the trials that Satan puts
us in. He's trying to kill us. He's trying to
destroy us. He's trying to get.

Us to turn our backs on God, turn our backs on.

Our declarations of faith. So these fiery darts that the
enemy has dipped in sin, has dipped in accusations, has
dipped in all the things that could harm us.

They're flying through the air. But we come.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Together in faith, supporting one another, standing together, covering each
other in prayer, working in unison to block these things.
Psalm sixty four, starting verse one, hear my voice, O God,
in my meditation. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy,

Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from
the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their
tongue like a sword and bend their bows to shoot
their arrows, which are bitter words that they may shoot
in secret at the blameless. Suddenly they shoot it him
and do not fear. The enemy has no fear. You
(26:45):
would think he would, but they don't, and they don't
run out of arrows. We need to limit their supply.
We need to walk uprightly, circumspectully.

That's where we started.

Because you put your toe in the enemy's camp, it's
going to get you. So we are in this together.
Let's pray for one another. Even if you don't know
anybody by name, you can say, Lord, I pray for
myself and everyone who listens to the porch. I pray
for everyone I know by name, their families, their pets.

It goes on for a while, but that's okay. That's
what I believe I'm called to do. And if you
don't have a shepherd doing that for you, then find
yourselves a new shepherd. Because the shepherd has to protect
the flock. The shepherd has to be willing to get
in the way of the wolf and even chase after
the sheep that's been taken by the wolf, which means
(27:47):
going into the darkness, going into scary places, being willing
to take a risk verse seventeen, and take the helmet
of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God. Again, take make the decision to
receive the helmet offered by the Lord. If you're catching it,
(28:13):
every aspect of this armor, the armor of God, is
being dispensed by him. So take it, receive it, receive
your salvation, and once you have it, wear it walk
in it feet Thessalonians five eight. But let us who
(28:34):
are of the day be what be sober, putting on
the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet
hope of salvation. It's not an uncertain hope, but one
that assures us that we have His salvation and redemption.
So take it, receive it, embrace it, wear it. Romans
(28:59):
five verses is one in five. I'm just going to
give you these two. Therefore, having been watch justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God
has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
(29:19):
who was given to us. My goodness, We've been given
so much. We're given hope, we're given this armor. We're
given the Holy Spirit. We've been given His blood to
set us free. All we have to do is receive
it and walk in it. Now, the head of the
soldier was among the principal parts to be defended, which
(29:42):
would make sense because it was where the deadliest strokes
might fall. And it's the head that commands the whole body.
And the enemy knows the old adage killed the head,
the body dies, so they go after the mind. The
set the head is the seat of the mind, which
if it has laid hold of the pure Gospel of hope,
(30:04):
of eternal life, it won't stray, it won't receive false doctrine,
and it won't give way to Haucatan Satan's his temptations
to despair, to give up. The mind is so important.
We've talked about it a lot here on the porch.

I dedicated an entire chapter to it in the supernatural Battle,
because that's where the greatest warfare takes place. So God,
by this hope, the hope He's given us, he lifts
up our head. A scripture that I pray and sing
the songlet based upon it, Psalm three three. But you,
a Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and
(30:49):
the one who lifts up my head. I posted it
on Facebook the other day. It's a praising worship song
from the nineties. Now, our Lord, our shield, about me,
my glory and the lifter of my head. Our hope
of salvation is well founded and well built, been built
(31:13):
by the best hands. It'll purify the soul and keep
it from being defiled by Satan and the kingdom of darkness.
That hope of salvation will comfort us and keep us
from being troubled and tormented, because Satan would love to
(31:37):
tempt us to despair, to give up, to stop trusting
in God. No, no, no, This hope I'm talking about
keeps us trusting in God and rejoicing in Him, speaking
to things not as they are, but as they should be,
that no matter how bad it looks, my hope is
(31:59):
in you, Lord, My trust is in you. I know
that you are as good as your word. I'm not
going to listen to these thoughts in my head. I'm
not going to listen to the attacks of the enemy.
I'm going to trust in you and do it with joy. Philippians,
chapter four, starting verse four.

Amplified version rejoice in the Lord. Always delight take pleasure
in Him. Again, I will say, rejoice. Let your gentle spirit,
your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience be known to
all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious

or worried about anything, but in everything, every circumstance and situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your
specific request known to God. And the peace of God,
the peace that reassures the heart, That peace which transcends
(33:08):
all understanding, which means it makes no sense. The peace
which stands God over your hearts and your minds in
Messiah is sure is yours. Finally, Brethren believers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right
(33:29):
and confirmed by God's Word, whatever is pure and wholesome,
whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and
of good repute, If there's any excellence, if there is
anything worthy of praise, Think continually on these things. Center
(33:50):
your mind on them. There it is that mind, and
implant them in your heart behind that breastplate. The things
which you have learned and received and heard and seen
in me, Paul says, practice these things in daily life,
and the God, who is the source of peace and
well being, will be with you. You know, I just
(34:14):
took that scripture and I read it with intention, understanding
and emotion, and I was feeling it. Some of you
that struggle, you're struggling because you're not spending time in
the Word. You're not speaking the Word over yourselves. You're
(34:35):
going through the motions and figuring, Okay, that's good enough.
The Lord will take care of the rest. And that's
not the way he set it up. You need to
feed your spirit, you need to edify it. You need
to edify yourself with the Word. Begin to read it
out loud, begin to speak it over yourself. Begin to
(34:56):
sing the praise and worship songs that are based upon
the Word. That's why I'm going back to the ones
that I got saved with and started with back in
the nineties, because it was based upon the Word. I'm
singing the Word to the Word. So doing these difficulties
and in all situations, believers in the Lord are called
(35:19):
to rejoice. It's really easy to get down, it's really
easy to woe is me? And where are your Lord?
And I prayed this, and nothing has happened with that,
speak it, sing it, say it. Whatever it takes to
get to where you need to be, do it. You

need that joy, for the joy of the Lord is
your strength. According to Nehemiah eight, verse ten, don't be worried,
don't be sad, don't be oppressed, don't be scared. For
the joy of the Lord, strength and your stronghold. The
joy of the Lord and from the Lord will strengthen you,

and will protect you, and will surround you and will
lift you up in this warfare. Israel was always told
to put their joy in the Lord. David wrote psalms
that they could follow to do that. Psalm one O six,
verse one. This is joy and the forgiveness of Israel's sins.
Praise the Lord. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for
(36:30):
he is good. His mercy endures forever. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah.
That's what that means. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah, hallelujah. If
you say hallelujah, means praise the Lord. Obedience. Doing everything
I'm talking about is possible because of the joy and
(36:52):
the Lord. True joy in the Lord. An inwardly joyful
believer will abound when things become dreary, we can do it.
We should do it as an example to each other
and into the world. Why do you have hope because
I have joy in the Lord? Why because I do?
(37:16):
He loved me, He set me free, gave me back
my family, forgave me all the evil, dark things I did,
and embraced me. The joy of believers is not based
upon agreeable circumstances. It's not based on anything else but
our relationship with God through his son. You show it
(37:41):
through Jesus. You can't have it any other way. And
his peace will guard our hearts and our minds as
we walk and live in the Lord. That phrase will
guard is a military term Paul's using and implies that
(38:02):
the mind is in a battle zone and needs to
be protected by a military guard. Would you agree your
mind needs that kind of protection. I know mind does so,
since the purpose of such a guard in a wartime
situation is to either prevent a hostile invasion or to
(38:24):
keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from escaping. The
peace of God protects the mind from external corrupting influences
and keeps the mind focused on God's truth. Where's God's truth?
It's in His word? So our character in our conduct
(38:50):
begin in the mind. Our actions will be affected by
the things we dwell on in our thoughts. That's why
so that your mind on things above, not things on
the earth. And Paul in his writings cautions the church
to concentrate on the things that will result in right
(39:12):
living in God's peace. No compromise, no getting off the path,
no living in the grays. Because the minute you wanted
into the grays, the minute you wander off the path,
Satan's waiting right there to cause us the doubt God,
(39:33):
did he really say, did you really hear that in prayer?
He's not going to answer that prayer that was just
your mind causes us the doubt in the Lord, doubt
in our salvation. That's his greatest weapon to get us
to doubt, to get us to make the decision to
(39:59):
go against God. God's word, and the helmet of salvation
protects our minds from doubting God's saving work for us.
Matthew Henry commentary says, salvation must be our helmet. That
is the hope which has salvation for its object. We're believers,
(40:24):
we belong to the day. Let's be sober. Putting on
the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet
the hope and confident assurance of salvation, the helmet that
the Roman soldiers war secured the head and a good
hope of salvation. A well rounded, well built helmet will
(40:47):
purify the soul and keep it from being defiled by Satan.
It'll comfort the soul, It'll keep it be troubled from
tormented by the enemy. No despair, hope, trust, rejoicing. What
do you have to rejoice about? I'm asking you the question.
(41:10):
I know you can't ask me. You can write me
an email. You can go to the website Firefall talk

things get dark and the enemies are pounding on you
and the fiery darts are coming every from everywhere, where,
does your mind go? What are you hoping on? What
are you believing? At that moment? And that helmet, Remember
(41:33):
when they built them, they were made of leather and brass,
sometimes bronze and iron, because if they did it, they
built it right. No sword would pierce a good helmet.
They had to protect their head. So protect your mind,
have a saved, redeemed mind. Don't make room for the

enemy's deception or any of his temptations. First Peter five,
starting verse eight, amplified, Be well balanced, be temperate, be
sober of mind, Be vigilant and cautious at all things.
For that enemy of yours, of ours, I'll say, the
devil rome's around like a lion, roaring in fierce hunger,

seeking someone to seize upon and devour Withstand him. Be
firm in the faith against his onset rooted, establish strong
and movable and determined. So those shoes come in knowing
that the same identical sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood,
(42:43):
the whole body of believers throughout the world. And after
you've suffered a little, while the God of all grace,
who imparts all blessing and favor, who has called you
to his own eternal glory of messiahy Isshua, will himself
complete and make you what you ought to be. Establish
and ground you securely, and strengthen and settle you to him.

Be the dominion, power, authority, and rule forever and ever.

or their demonic offspring, when they come to destroy you,

If you have the helmet of salvation, you can trust
in its protection. Because your salvation, my salvation, is accomplished.
God has promised it Romans five to five. And hope
does not disappoint because the love of God which has
been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
who was given to us. Don't doubt it, and do

this knowing the time that is now high. Time to
awake out of sleep. For now our salvation is nearer
than when we first believe Rumen's thirteen eleven. He's going
to save us side of this fallen world. It's going
a heck in a handbasket. And take the ck and

It's going to go there. It can't be stopped. Man
can't stop it, politics can't stop it. It's going there.
But He will redeem us out of it. He will
save us out of it. We need to walk that way.
We need to trust him. We need to set our

of Glory, and not receive false doctrines, false teachings, satan temptations,
to despair, any of the things the world would try
to do to us, any of the things these false
teachers would try to get us to do. And by
this hope, we lift up our head to the King
of Glory, and we have the assurance protecting our mind

of our salvation, that we have been redeemed. Our names
are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. So no
matter what Satan says, no matter him trying to remind
me of my past, all I do is remind him
of his future. I have hope, and that hope allows
me to stand.

These articles that we're talking about, they are handed to
the soldier, the helmet and the sword. It comes from
the armor bearer in the same way as believers we
take the helmet and the sword from God himself. Romans six. Now,
(45:55):
the mind of the flesh is death, both now and forever,
because of it pursues sin. But the mind of the
spirit capitalists is life and peace, the spiritual well being
that comes from walking with God, both now and forever.
(46:16):
So now we get to it. The sword of the spirit,
the Word of God. That's how we respond to an attack.
We don't wave around an imaginary sword. We do it
either with the Gospel, with the spoken word, with the
written word, with the name of the Word, the one
(46:37):
who was with God and the one who was God.
The sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. It's
always been a danger to the enemy. Jeremiah twenty three
twenty nine. Is not my word like a fire, says
the Lord, like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces.

The sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon
in the believer's armor. Everything else has been defensive. The
Life Application Bible Commentary explains the sharp short sword called
the Gladius, was twenty to twenty four inches long. It
was one of Rome's great military innovations. The Roman army
(47:24):
would use the short swords in close combat, winning battles
because the long spears would become cumbersome. But when you
were face to face, you needed the short sword. And
it was a two edged sword, which made it ideal
for cutting and thrusting. While the Spirit makes the Word
(47:45):
of God just as effective when we speak it and
receive it. The spirit gives the word its penetrating power
and sharp edge issue He uses God's word in his
temptation in against Satan, and look for and with the
Holy Spirit within us, believers have the constant reminder of
(48:09):
God's word to use against Satan's teptations. Now this weapon
is not necessarily the Bible as a whole, but the
specific word that needs to be spoken in a specific situation,
which the Holy Spirit will bring to mind when you
need it, which is why you need the infilling of
(48:30):
the Holy Spirit. But to have that precise word ready,
it would help to know the Bible. It would help
to read it and have it stored up and ready
to go when you needed it. So, as I said,
it's the only offensive weapon in the list of the armor,
(48:52):
which means we need to take an offensive against Satan
and the kingdom of darkness. When we're attempted, we need
to fight back, and we need to live in the
spirit of God's word. For the Word of God, Hebrews
four twelve tells me is living and powerful and sharper
than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division
(49:15):
of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and
is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Word of God serves both to attack and parry
the thrust of the enemy. You can cut, you can slash,
you can block. The word does it all Like I said,
(49:38):
The Lord used it against Satan when he tried to
tempt them. Keep saying it is written, and it's called
the sword of the Spirit because it comes from the
Spirit of God. It inspires it, it empowers it, it
brings it to mind. Jeez, now what the Holy Spirit
does to remind us of what the Lord said? And
(50:00):
that two edged sword, cutting both ways, can strike some
with conviction, others with conversion, others with condemnation Isaiah eleven four.
But with righteousness he capitalites, shall judge the poor and
decide with equity for the meek of the earth. He
shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
(50:21):
the spoken word, and with the breath of his lips.
He shall slay the wicked. And he has shown me
that he will do that at the end, when he
lands on the mount of Olives, during the battle of Armageddon,
he will speak the word, and he will slay the wicked.
Revelations nineteen fifteen confirms that now out of his mouth
(50:42):
goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike
the nations, and he himself will rule them with a
rod of iron. He himself treads the wine press of
the fierceness and the wrath of Almighty God. So that word,
that powerful word, is both in the mouth of the
Lord in the hands of the saints Some one forty nine,
(51:03):
verse six. One of my favorite scriptures that I used
used to wear a shirt that I made with it
on it. Let the high praises of God be in
their mouth and a two edged sword in their hand.
You have to know the word. You have to know
how to wield it, otherwise a sharp sword can be
very dangerous Hebrews eleven three. By faith, we understand that
(51:30):
the worlds were framed by the word of God. So
the things which are seen were not made of things
which are visible. That's how powerful the word of God is.
It spoke things into existence at the beginning. That weapon
you use against the enemy, the enemy knows that that
spoken word from the Word is what created them. If
(51:56):
the Lord can do it. In Matthew four and Luke four,
and the enemy tempted him in the wilderness, who said,
when Satan said, if you are the son of God,
command that these stones become bred. And the Lord answered
and said, it is written. Man shall not live by
(52:17):
bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the
mouth of God. It is written. He gave us the
example on how to deal with things. What's the word?
Speak the word, know the word. Because we're in a war,
there's going to be tribulations, there's going to be a tacks.
(52:40):
Paul was constantly encouraging the church, like in first Thessalonians three,
starting verse four. For in fact, we told you that
when we were with you, that we would suffer tribulation,
just as it happened. And you know for this reason,
when I could no longer endure it, I sent to
know your faith by some means. The tempter had tempted you,
(53:02):
and our labor might be in vain. These things will happen.
Don't let it shatter your faith. The Lord resisted temptation.
He knows, he knows how we feel, he knows what
we're going through. If you will hide this word in
(53:26):
your heart, then it will preserve you from the attacks
and the temptation and the sin. And remember Goliad's sword.
There was none like it. David had to have it,
but there's none like the one we have. The enemy
(53:46):
can't do anything against it. Why he's always trying to
trick us into putting it down Some one nineteen, starting
verse ten, with my whole heart, I have thought to you, Oh,
let me not wander from your commandments. Your word I
have hidden in my heart that I might not sin
(54:09):
against you? Is the word hidden in your heart? Can
you reach forward if you need it? That short sword
I said was for close en fight it. That's the
way this is going to be. We wrestle close in struggle.

There's always going to be a struggle until the Lord
comes back, until we go home.

But we win.

We have the strength, we have the ability, we have
the armor, we have the power. And Paul indicates that
the battle is to be joined one with another. And
for those that don't know the Word and don't know
the Gospel, we're interceding for that's what That's the strategic
(55:04):
warfare for the Kingdom of God against the kingdom of darkness,
close in advancing into the enemy's ranks, tearing down stronghold
and setting the captives free, which is what he asks
in Ephesian six, starting verse eighteen. He sums it up
with praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit,
(55:28):
being watchful to this end, with all perseverance and supplication
for all the saints and for me, that utterance may
be given to me, that I may open my mouth
boldly and make known the mystery of the Gospel. Paul
took the tools given to him by the Lord, and
(55:48):
he entered into the enemy's camp. And that's where we're
going to leave it this week. Next week we're going
to take up the prayer and the supplication and the
advancing into the enemy's camp. I am sure you have
people in your life that the enemy's taken captive, that
have wandered into the enemy's camp, that your desire is
(56:09):
to set them free in the name of the Lord.
I know it was done for me, and I do
it for others. He came to set the captives free,
and if I'm going to be like him, I'm going
to do the same.

you sent back the Holy Spirit who walks with us
and in us, to help us to do this now,

Lord's plans will prevail. I pray for the fatherless, the widows,

the persecuted, and the martyr, the points spirit, the bound,
the oppressed, and those that are victims of injustice. Pray
against the slaughter of the innocents, both in an arrow
the womb, for the missing and exploited children who are
being taken into human sex trafficking, and all those that
have been snatched into that dark, demonic endeavor. I pray

for our Jewish brothers and sisters. The anti Semitism is suffering.
Pray for the Church, those that are being slaughtered and
persecuted for their faith, losing everything's, their families, their homes,
their places of worship, and it just doesn't seem like
the world cares about either. I pray against the plans

and the efforts of the spirit of the Antichrist which
are behind everything I've just mentioned.

Let's be the thing that restrains him and holds him

the days are evil, see then that you walk circumspectfully,
not as fools, but as wise redeeming the time, because
the days are evil. Esians five, Verses fifteen and sixteen
Paul's in admonishing us to walk carefully, to live life

with honor, purpose and courage, shunning those who tolerate and
enable evil, and to be wise, to be sensible, intelligent,
discerning people, that we would make the most of our
time on earth, recognizing and taking advantage of each and
every opportunity, using it with wisdom and diligence. Because the

days we are living in are filled with evil, what
are we supposed to do?

Share the gospel, make disciples, get them baptized, take every
advantage given to us for service to the kingdom, and
warfare against the enemy. And that part is where we
are looking deeply into this topic because of where we
are in the prophetic clock. Never forget that we were

once darkness, but now we are the light in the Lord.
Walk as children of the light, For the fruit of
the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness and truth. Finding
out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no
fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose
them Ephesians five eight through eleven.

Expose them by walking in the light, by being the
light of the world, by behaving as we should behave Now,
Paul using the phrase because the days are evil was
communicating a sense of urgency because of how extensive evil was.

Then I say it's even more so now. So we
need to redeem the time, and that involves resistance against
the enemy. We can't sit back, we can't sit down,
we can't act like we have nothing to do, because
the Lord has given us tools to do something. So

let's go once again to Ephesian's six, starting verse ten. Finally,
my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the
power of His might. Put on the the whole armor
of God, that you may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle
(10:08):
against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this age, against the
spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take
up the whole armor of God, that you may be
able to withstand the evil day. Withstand in the evil day,
(10:30):
and having done all to stand, stand therefore, having girded
your waste with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
having shod your feet with the preparation of the Gospel
of Peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, with
which you'll be able to quench all the fiery darts
(10:51):
of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word
of God. Praying always with all prayers, application in the Spirit,
being watchful to the send, with all persevererence and supplication
for all the saints and for me. Paul says that
utterance may be given to me, that I may open
(11:14):
my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel.
Life Application Bible Commentary says we are engaged in a
spiritual battle all believers, not some. All believers find themselves
subject to Satan's attacks because they're no longer on Satan's side.
(11:36):
Paul tells us to use every piece of God's armor
to resist Satan's attacks. And stand true to God in
the midst of those attacks. When you leave his side,
whether just from sin or in my case, having the
being in bondage to the powers of darkness and all
(11:56):
that went with it, there is retaliation. So Paul tells
us three times as believers to stand against the devil's schemes,
which is the spiritual battle that takes place against the
spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. If you didn't
listen last week, you need to, because we went to

great depth about who those are. Matthew Henry commentary said,
here is a general exhortation to constancy in our he
says Christian course, I'll leave it as it's written, and
to encourage in our spiritual warfare. Is not our life

a warfare. It is so, for we struggle with the
common calamities of human life.

struggle with the opposition of the powers of darkness, and
with many enemies who would keep us from God and Heaven.
We have enemies to fight against, a captain to fight for,

by which we are to govern ourselves. Remains that you
are to apply yourselves to your work and duty as
soldiers Christian soldiers of the Cross, and it is requisite
that a soldier be stout hearted and well armed. Well,
we are well armed God's given us out of his

armory the weapons of our warfare. Be strong in the
Lord and in the Power's mind. That's how the whole
thing starts out. Let the soldier be well armed by
the power of the Lord, because without it, his armor
won't do him any good. We're under his power. His
(13:53):
armor natural strength does nothing for us. Spiritual strength and
courage are necessary for spiritual warfare. Be strong in the
Lord means we have no sufficient strength of our own.
And all the casualties I've seen in spiritual warfare were
(14:16):
mostly because people tried to do it on their own.
They tried to do it without God, without following his orders,
and without doing what the Word said do, and they suffered.
For us, we need supernatural strength for a powerful, supernatural enemy.
(14:36):
So the several ranks of demonic powers formed into a
government working together to destroy us. A subtle, sneaky enemy
who has thousands of ways to seduce unstable souls. Matthew
(14:56):
Henry commentary goes on to say, our natural courage is
as perfect cowardice, and our natural strength as perfect weakness.
But all of our sufficiency is of God. In his strength.
We must go forth and go on by the actings
of faith.

Our walk and our work and our warfare. We should

the omnipotence of his might. You cannot do this on

your own. You're dealing with an enemy that is thousands
of years old. They have perfected their techniques. They know
what works and what doesn't. They've been watching you. They
have what's called intelligence gathered about you. They know what
your likes and dislikes are. They know what your past was.

They know how to seduce you. You need the alle
sufficiency of God and his power in your life. Verse
sixteen said, above all, taking the shield of faith with
which you'll be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked one. Now we're seeing the aggression and

the attack of the enemy fiery darts. What do we do.
We have to have a shield of faith. We must
have faith in our spiritual warfare. Faith, trusting in the Lord,
trusting in your shoe as our savior, Trusting in God
as our father, and that he will meet our needs
(17:11):
in evil times. No fear, none whatsoever. Oh, it's easy
for you to say, rich and well, you got to realize, guys,
I have probably seen more demons fallen angels. I've probably
seen more of that than many of you that are listening.

So I know that I have to put my faith
in God. I know what we are up against. I
have no fear because I know who my Father is,
I know who my Lord is. I know that the
power in me, the Holy Spirit, is the same power
that raise the Lord from the dead and spoke them
into existence. But I also know that to wield it
(17:53):
properly and to make the right decision, I need the
help of the Holy Spirit above all means. Take the shield,
use it against everything. It protects the entire armor that
could easily have been translated overall, don't walk out there
without the shield of faith. Don't walk out there without
(18:15):
your faith intact and empowered. Now, the Roman shield Paul's
talking about was two and a half feet wide by
four feet long. It was an oblong shield made of
wood and leather, and that indicates that the warfare is
going to take place within a regiment or a heavy infantry,
not a little round shield that used for close quarters combat.
(18:41):
So this was made of wood wrapped in leather. And
they knew that there would be flaming arrows involved, so
they would soak the leather so that when the darts
landed on them, they would go out. And when the
Roman legioneers fought together, they would close ranks, the front
row holding the shields forward, those behind them holding the
(19:04):
shields above them, and they were virtually in vulnerable to
any attack from flaming arrows, which means what, we're in
this war together. You're not alone, ranger. You're in a
war with others. You're in an infantry. We have to
band together, we have to close ranks. Now, the armor
(19:25):
of God's Shield with texas from the flaming arrows sent
our way and then the Greek word for darts is
belos or belet for singular means a missile or a
throne dart. A dart was a weapon designed by the
enemy to injure, disable, or kill. It's not a game.
(19:45):
We're not playing for points. We're playing for souls. We're
playing for keeps. And these flaming arrows were sharp piercing
projectiles that in Paul's day, they were dipped in a
flammable substance and then set on fire just before being launched.

So they're not wandering around with their arrows lit. You
can see them coming. No, that arrow doesn't get lit
till just before it's been fired, which means you always
have to be on guard. You always have to be ready,
because the purpose of those darts, those fiery darts, is
(20:28):
to cause wide spread destruction in our lives and even
death if they can manage it. We need faith, faith
to put out whatever the enemy sends our way. And
without that shield, they're going to ignite a fire of compromise, disobedience,
(20:51):
and sin in our lives. And I said the wood
and the leather was soaked in water before battle. Well,
our shield is soaked in the water of the Word
Romans ten seventeen. So then faith comes by hearing and
hearing by the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing
(21:16):
what is told, and what has heard comes by the
preaching of the message that comes from the lips of
the Messiah himself. Because He is the Word. That's where
our faith is in. Our faith is in him, our
faith is in what he said. That's why I make
such a big deal of the read letter basics. It's
(21:40):
not our opinion, it's his. Because the shield that He's
given us is designed to be fire proof, which means
our faith in God makes us fireproof. Doesn't mean you're
not going to be attacked. It just means you have
the ability to withstand the attack. And that phrase, you know,
(22:06):
flaming arrows of the evil one, the fiery darts. It's
a metaphor for the internal and external spiritual battle that
all believers face. I don't care who you are, I
don't care how long you've ben at this. Every one
of us faces a spiritual battle. And Paul's depiction shows
(22:28):
us that the nature of these attacks is to tempt
us to sin. That's why in the Lord's Prayer Matthew
six thirteen. We pray, do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is
the kingdom and the power and the glory forever I'm in.
Satan can't make us do anything. The only time that
(22:50):
he has that kind of power is when somebody's completely
demon possessed. No, he has to trick us, he has
to tempt us. He has to say things our way
and make us choose to do wrong. One Corinthians ten
thirteen tells me, no temptation has overtaken you, except such
(23:10):
as is common to man. But God is faithful who
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you
are able. But with the temptation will also make the
way of escape that you may be able to bear it.
Now you would think, well, Lord, why do I have
to bear it? Why are you putting me through this?
You need strength, You need to build up your resistance.
(23:33):
You need to understand how to use that shield of faith.
You cannot. It's like when a baby's born. You don't
say to them, okay, go on, go outfeed yourself, have
a nice life. That be trained that have to grow.
We have to help them. It's the same thing. As
a believer, you have to get stronger, you have to
(23:54):
get go through stuff, and somebody's got to disciple you
to help you, not to walk it for you, but
to be able to offer a scripture and encouragement as
you go along the way. In this fallen world. The
command was the disciple. And I think that's the greatest
(24:15):
trick the enemy played on. One of the greatest tricks
the enemy played on the church was to get us
to stop doing that.

Prayer of salvation, hand them a Bible, tell them when
the church services are, and then let them go on
their way. That's not how it's supposed to be. But
He's going to be with us through these trials. James One,
starting verse twelve, Blessed happy to be envied is the
man who is patient under trial and stands up under temptation,
(24:48):
For when he has stood the test and been approved,
he will receive the victor's crown of life, which God
has promised to those who love him. Let no one
s I say when he is tempted, I am tempted
from God. For God is incapable of being tempted by
what is evil, and he himself tempts no one, but

every person is tempted when he's drawn away and enticed
and baited by his own evil desires, his own lust
or passions. Then the evil desire, when it has conceived,
give birth to sin, and sin, when is fully matured,
brings forth death. Right there in James one twelve through fifteen,

we see the process of the trials that Satan puts
us in. He's trying to kill us. He's trying to
destroy us. He's trying to get.

Our declarations of faith. So these fiery darts that the
enemy has dipped in sin, has dipped in accusations, has
dipped in all the things that could harm us.

Together in faith, supporting one another, standing together, covering each
other in prayer, working in unison to block these things.
Psalm sixty four, starting verse one, hear my voice, O God,
in my meditation. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy,

Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from
the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their
tongue like a sword and bend their bows to shoot
their arrows, which are bitter words that they may shoot
in secret at the blameless. Suddenly they shoot it him
and do not fear. The enemy has no fear. You

would think he would, but they don't, and they don't
run out of arrows. We need to limit their supply.
We need to walk uprightly, circumspectully.

Because you put your toe in the enemy's camp, it's
going to get you. So we are in this together.
Let's pray for one another. Even if you don't know
anybody by name, you can say, Lord, I pray for
myself and everyone who listens to the porch. I pray
for everyone I know by name, their families, their pets.

It goes on for a while, but that's okay. That's
what I believe I'm called to do. And if you
don't have a shepherd doing that for you, then find
yourselves a new shepherd. Because the shepherd has to protect
the flock. The shepherd has to be willing to get
in the way of the wolf and even chase after
the sheep that's been taken by the wolf, which means
(27:47):
going into the darkness, going into scary places, being willing
to take a risk verse seventeen, and take the helmet
of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God. Again, take make the decision to
receive the helmet offered by the Lord. If you're catching it,
(28:13):
every aspect of this armor, the armor of God, is
being dispensed by him. So take it, receive it, receive
your salvation, and once you have it, wear it walk
in it feet Thessalonians five eight. But let us who
(28:34):
are of the day be what be sober, putting on
the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet
hope of salvation. It's not an uncertain hope, but one
that assures us that we have His salvation and redemption.
So take it, receive it, embrace it, wear it. Romans
(28:59):
five verses is one in five. I'm just going to
give you these two. Therefore, having been watch justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus the Messiah.
Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God
has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
(29:19):
who was given to us. My goodness, We've been given
so much. We're given hope, we're given this armor. We're
given the Holy Spirit. We've been given His blood to
set us free. All we have to do is receive
it and walk in it. Now, the head of the
soldier was among the principal parts to be defended, which

would make sense because it was where the deadliest strokes
might fall. And it's the head that commands the whole body.
And the enemy knows the old adage killed the head,
the body dies, so they go after the mind. The
set the head is the seat of the mind, which
if it has laid hold of the pure Gospel of hope,

of eternal life, it won't stray, it won't receive false doctrine,
and it won't give way to Haucatan Satan's his temptations
to despair, to give up. The mind is so important.
We've talked about it a lot here on the porch.

I dedicated an entire chapter to it in the supernatural Battle,
because that's where the greatest warfare takes place. So God,
by this hope, the hope He's given us, he lifts
up our head. A scripture that I pray and sing
the songlet based upon it, Psalm three three. But you,
a Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and

the one who lifts up my head. I posted it
on Facebook the other day. It's a praising worship song
from the nineties. Now, our Lord, our shield, about me,
my glory and the lifter of my head. Our hope
of salvation is well founded and well built, been built

by the best hands. It'll purify the soul and keep
it from being defiled by Satan and the kingdom of darkness.
That hope of salvation will comfort us and keep us
from being troubled and tormented, because Satan would love to
(31:37):
tempt us to despair, to give up, to stop trusting
in God. No, no, no, This hope I'm talking about
keeps us trusting in God and rejoicing in Him, speaking
to things not as they are, but as they should be,
that no matter how bad it looks, my hope is
(31:59):
in you, Lord, My trust is in you. I know
that you are as good as your word. I'm not
going to listen to these thoughts in my head. I'm
not going to listen to the attacks of the enemy.
I'm going to trust in you and do it with joy. Philippians,
chapter four, starting verse four.

which you have learned and received and heard and seen
in me, Paul says, practice these things in daily life,
and the God, who is the source of peace and
well being, will be with you. You know, I just

took that scripture and I read it with intention, understanding
and emotion, and I was feeling it. Some of you
that struggle, you're struggling because you're not spending time in
the Word. You're not speaking the Word over yourselves. You're

going through the motions and figuring, Okay, that's good enough.
The Lord will take care of the rest. And that's
not the way he set it up. You need to
feed your spirit, you need to edify it. You need
to edify yourself with the Word. Begin to read it
out loud, begin to speak it over yourself. Begin to
(34:56):
sing the praise and worship songs that are based upon
the Word. That's why I'm going back to the ones
that I got saved with and started with back in
the nineties, because it was based upon the Word. I'm
singing the Word to the Word. So doing these difficulties
and in all situations, believers in the Lord are called
(35:19):
to rejoice. It's really easy to get down, it's really
easy to woe is me? And where are your Lord?
And I prayed this, and nothing has happened with that,
speak it, sing it, say it. Whatever it takes to
get to where you need to be, do it. You
(35:42):
need that joy, for the joy of the Lord is
your strength. According to Nehemiah eight, verse ten, don't be worried,
don't be sad, don't be oppressed, don't be scared. For
the joy of the Lord, strength and your stronghold. The
joy of the Lord and from the Lord will strengthen you,

and will protect you, and will surround you and will
lift you up in this warfare. Israel was always told
to put their joy in the Lord. David wrote psalms
that they could follow to do that. Psalm one O six,
verse one. This is joy and the forgiveness of Israel's sins.
Praise the Lord. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for
(36:30):
he is good. His mercy endures forever. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah.
That's what that means. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah, hallelujah. If
you say hallelujah, means praise the Lord. Obedience. Doing everything
I'm talking about is possible because of the joy and
(36:52):
the Lord. True joy in the Lord. An inwardly joyful
believer will abound when things become dreary, we can do it.
We should do it as an example to each other
and into the world. Why do you have hope because
I have joy in the Lord? Why because I do?
(37:16):
He loved me, He set me free, gave me back
my family, forgave me all the evil, dark things I did,
and embraced me. The joy of believers is not based
upon agreeable circumstances. It's not based on anything else but
our relationship with God through his son. You show it
(37:41):
through Jesus. You can't have it any other way. And
his peace will guard our hearts and our minds as
we walk and live in the Lord. That phrase will
guard is a military term Paul's using and implies that
(38:02):
the mind is in a battle zone and needs to
be protected by a military guard. Would you agree your
mind needs that kind of protection. I know mind does so,
since the purpose of such a guard in a wartime
situation is to either prevent a hostile invasion or to
(38:24):
keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from escaping. The
peace of God protects the mind from external corrupting influences
and keeps the mind focused on God's truth. Where's God's truth?
It's in His word? So our character in our conduct
(38:50):
begin in the mind. Our actions will be affected by
the things we dwell on in our thoughts. That's why
so that your mind on things above, not things on
the earth. And Paul in his writings cautions the church
to concentrate on the things that will result in right
(39:12):
living in God's peace. No compromise, no getting off the path,
no living in the grays. Because the minute you wanted
into the grays, the minute you wander off the path,
Satan's waiting right there to cause us the doubt God,
(39:33):
did he really say, did you really hear that in prayer?
He's not going to answer that prayer that was just
your mind causes us the doubt in the Lord, doubt
in our salvation. That's his greatest weapon to get us
to doubt, to get us to make the decision to
(39:59):
go against God. God's word, and the helmet of salvation
protects our minds from doubting God's saving work for us.
Matthew Henry commentary says, salvation must be our helmet. That
is the hope which has salvation for its object. We're believers,
(40:24):
we belong to the day. Let's be sober. Putting on
the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet
the hope and confident assurance of salvation, the helmet that
the Roman soldiers war secured the head and a good
hope of salvation. A well rounded, well built helmet will
(40:47):
purify the soul and keep it from being defiled by Satan.
It'll comfort the soul, It'll keep it be troubled from
tormented by the enemy. No despair, hope, trust, rejoicing. What
do you have to rejoice about? I'm asking you the question.

I know you can't ask me. You can write me

things get dark and the enemies are pounding on you
and the fiery darts are coming every from everywhere, where,
does your mind go? What are you hoping on? What
are you believing? At that moment? And that helmet, Remember

when they built them, they were made of leather and brass,
sometimes bronze and iron, because if they did it, they
built it right. No sword would pierce a good helmet.
They had to protect their head. So protect your mind,
have a saved, redeemed mind. Don't make room for the
(41:56):
enemy's deception or any of his temptations. First Peter five,
starting verse eight, amplified, Be well balanced, be temperate, be
sober of mind, Be vigilant and cautious at all things.
For that enemy of yours, of ours, I'll say, the
devil rome's around like a lion, roaring in fierce hunger,
(42:22):
seeking someone to seize upon and devour Withstand him. Be
firm in the faith against his onset rooted, establish strong
and movable and determined. So those shoes come in knowing
that the same identical sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood,
(42:43):
the whole body of believers throughout the world. And after
you've suffered a little, while the God of all grace,
who imparts all blessing and favor, who has called you
to his own eternal glory of messiahy Isshua, will himself
complete and make you what you ought to be. Establish
and ground you securely, and strengthen and settle you to him.

Be the dominion, power, authority, and rule forever and ever.

When that enemy, whether it's Satan or the fallen angels
or their demonic offspring, when they come to destroy you,
when they come to devour you with whatever thoughts they plant,
with whatever temptations they offer, whatever they send you away
to make you doubt your salvation, to doubt God's hearing you.

If you have the helmet of salvation, you can trust
in its protection. Because your salvation, my salvation, is accomplished.
God has promised it Romans five to five. And hope
does not disappoint because the love of God which has
been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
who was given to us. Don't doubt it, and do
(44:05):
this knowing the time that is now high. Time to
awake out of sleep. For now our salvation is nearer
than when we first believe Rumen's thirteen eleven. He's going
to save us side of this fallen world. It's going
a heck in a handbasket. And take the ck and
add a double L and you'll see what I mean.

It's going to go there. It can't be stopped. Man
can't stop it, politics can't stop it. It's going there.
But He will redeem us out of it. He will
save us out of it. We need to walk that way.
We need to trust him. We need to set our
mind and our hope on the Gospel on the King

of Glory, and not receive false doctrines, false teachings, satan temptations,
to despair, any of the things the world would try
to do to us, any of the things these false
teachers would try to get us to do. And by
this hope, we lift up our head to the King
of Glory, and we have the assurance protecting our mind

of our salvation, that we have been redeemed. Our names
are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. So no
matter what Satan says, no matter him trying to remind
me of my past, all I do is remind him
of his future. I have hope, and that hope allows
me to stand.

These articles that we're talking about, they are handed to
the soldier, the helmet and the sword. It comes from
the armor bearer in the same way as believers we
take the helmet and the sword from God himself. Romans six. Now,
(45:55):
the mind of the flesh is death, both now and forever,
because of it pursues sin. But the mind of the
spirit capitalists is life and peace, the spiritual well being
that comes from walking with God, both now and forever.

So now we get to it. The sword of the spirit,
the Word of God. That's how we respond to an attack.
We don't wave around an imaginary sword. We do it
either with the Gospel, with the spoken word, with the
written word, with the name of the Word, the one
(46:37):
who was with God and the one who was God.
The sword of the Spirit, the Word of God. It's
always been a danger to the enemy. Jeremiah twenty three
twenty nine. Is not my word like a fire, says
the Lord, like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces.

The sword of the Spirit is the only offensive weapon
in the believer's armor. Everything else has been defensive. The
Life Application Bible Commentary explains the sharp short sword called
the Gladius, was twenty to twenty four inches long. It
was one of Rome's great military innovations. The Roman army
(47:24):
would use the short swords in close combat, winning battles
because the long spears would become cumbersome. But when you
were face to face, you needed the short sword. And
it was a two edged sword, which made it ideal
for cutting and thrusting. While the Spirit makes the Word
(47:45):
of God just as effective when we speak it and
receive it. The spirit gives the word its penetrating power
and sharp edge issue He uses God's word in his
temptation in against Satan, and look for and with the
Holy Spirit within us, believers have the constant reminder of
(48:09):
God's word to use against Satan's teptations. Now this weapon
is not necessarily the Bible as a whole, but the
specific word that needs to be spoken in a specific situation,
which the Holy Spirit will bring to mind when you
need it, which is why you need the infilling of
(48:30):
the Holy Spirit. But to have that precise word ready,
it would help to know the Bible. It would help
to read it and have it stored up and ready
to go when you needed it. So, as I said,
it's the only offensive weapon in the list of the armor,
(48:52):
which means we need to take an offensive against Satan
and the kingdom of darkness. When we're attempted, we need
to fight back, and we need to live in the
spirit of God's word. For the Word of God, Hebrews
four twelve tells me is living and powerful and sharper
than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division
(49:15):
of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and
is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Word of God serves both to attack and parry
the thrust of the enemy. You can cut, you can slash,
you can block. The word does it all Like I said,
(49:38):
The Lord used it against Satan when he tried to
tempt them. Keep saying it is written, and it's called
the sword of the Spirit because it comes from the
Spirit of God. It inspires it, it empowers it, it
brings it to mind. Jeez, now what the Holy Spirit
does to remind us of what the Lord said? And
(50:00):
that two edged sword, cutting both ways, can strike some
with conviction, others with conversion, others with condemnation Isaiah eleven four.
But with righteousness he capitalites, shall judge the poor and
decide with equity for the meek of the earth. He
shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
(50:21):
the spoken word, and with the breath of his lips.
He shall slay the wicked. And he has shown me
that he will do that at the end, when he
lands on the mount of Olives, during the battle of Armageddon,
he will speak the word, and he will slay the wicked.
Revelations nineteen fifteen confirms that now out of his mouth
(50:42):
goes a sharp sword, that with it he should strike
the nations, and he himself will rule them with a
rod of iron. He himself treads the wine press of
the fierceness and the wrath of Almighty God. So that word,
that powerful word, is both in the mouth of the
Lord in the hands of the saints Some one forty nine,
(51:03):
verse six. One of my favorite scriptures that I used
used to wear a shirt that I made with it
on it. Let the high praises of God be in
their mouth and a two edged sword in their hand.
You have to know the word. You have to know
how to wield it, otherwise a sharp sword can be
very dangerous Hebrews eleven three. By faith, we understand that
(51:30):
the worlds were framed by the word of God. So
the things which are seen were not made of things
which are visible. That's how powerful the word of God is.
It spoke things into existence at the beginning. That weapon
you use against the enemy, the enemy knows that that
spoken word from the Word is what created them. If
(51:56):
the Lord can do it. In Matthew four and Luke four,
and the enemy tempted him in the wilderness, who said,
when Satan said, if you are the son of God,
command that these stones become bred. And the Lord answered
and said, it is written. Man shall not live by
(52:17):
bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the
mouth of God. It is written. He gave us the
example on how to deal with things. What's the word?
Speak the word, know the word. Because we're in a war,
there's going to be tribulations, there's going to be a tacks.
(52:40):
Paul was constantly encouraging the church, like in first Thessalonians three,
starting verse four. For in fact, we told you that
when we were with you, that we would suffer tribulation,
just as it happened. And you know for this reason,
when I could no longer endure it, I sent to
know your faith by some means. The tempter had tempted you,
(53:02):
and our labor might be in vain. These things will happen.
Don't let it shatter your faith. The Lord resisted temptation.
He knows, he knows how we feel, he knows what
we're going through. If you will hide this word in
(53:26):
your heart, then it will preserve you from the attacks
and the temptation and the sin. And remember Goliad's sword.
There was none like it. David had to have it,
but there's none like the one we have. The enemy
(53:46):
can't do anything against it. Why he's always trying to
trick us into putting it down Some one nineteen, starting
verse ten, with my whole heart, I have thought to you, Oh,
let me not wander from your commandments. Your word I
have hidden in my heart that I might not sin
(54:09):
against you? Is the word hidden in your heart? Can
you reach forward if you need it? That short sword
I said was for close en fight it. That's the
way this is going to be. We wrestle close in struggle.
(54:34):
There's always going to be a struggle until the Lord
comes back, until we go home.

But we win.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
We have the strength, we have the ability, we have
the armor, we have the power. And Paul indicates that
the battle is to be joined one with another. And
for those that don't know the Word and don't know
the Gospel, we're interceding for that's what That's the strategic
(55:04):
warfare for the Kingdom of God against the kingdom of darkness,
close in advancing into the enemy's ranks, tearing down stronghold
and setting the captives free, which is what he asks
in Ephesian six, starting verse eighteen. He sums it up
with praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit,
(55:28):
being watchful to this end, with all perseverance and supplication
for all the saints and for me, that utterance may
be given to me, that I may open my mouth
boldly and make known the mystery of the Gospel. Paul
took the tools given to him by the Lord, and
(55:48):
he entered into the enemy's camp. And that's where we're
going to leave it this week. Next week we're going
to take up the prayer and the supplication and the
advancing into the enemy's camp. I am sure you have
people in your life that the enemy's taken captive, that
have wandered into the enemy's camp, that your desire is
(56:09):
to set them free in the name of the Lord.
I know it was done for me, and I do
it for others. He came to set the captives free,
and if I'm going to be like him, I'm going
to do the same.

We thank you, we rejoice in you. We thank you
for this word. We thank you that you are the Word.
We thank you for the Holy Spirit. We thank you
for the armor that you've given us to walk this
walk and do what needs to be done. We thank
you for clearing our minds and our hearts and redeeming
(56:48):
us and healing us and restoring what the enemy took
and tried to destroy. Thank you for your love, your grace,
your mercy. Thank you for the cross, a powerful weapon
against sin and death, the blood that was shed. But
(57:08):
you are a resurrected savior. The tomb is empty, and
you are sitting at the right hand of God. And
you sent back the Holy Spirit who walks with us
and in us, to help us to do this now,
right now, Lord, I ask for me and my brothers
and sisters.

Show us any area, any.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Dnt opening in our armor that needs to be prayed
over and healed closed, Any doors that the enemy could
sneak in, any parts of our minds, our thoughts, were
our choices that gives the enemy ground and stir up
(57:49):
that hope in our hearts. Stir it up. Encourage my
brothers and sisters. Encourage me. It's really dark out there, Lord,
but we are the light of the world and we
want to shine like we've never dined before. So let
(58:10):
it be so, Let it be so, Let it be so.
