Speaker 1 (01:22):
Good evening, Happy Sunday. Glad you guys have made it tonight.
We'll get started here in just a minute. Hey Mark,

(02:43):
Mark from Jay, Oklahoma, was thinking about you guys the
other day. Actually, all right, you all ready for this?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
That's too crazy?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Well, I tuned into the chatter on Friday night.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Open for some wisdom or signal soul riding.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
But all I've heard is grumbling, a little frequency jam.
Every channel's crowded with saddamp oh, sad hemp, crying on
the band, complaining about the prices.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Things ain't going as.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Playing, Saddam, always in a jam. Turned the dial and
there you are just a sad hand. These new bridge
are pricing just a corpate game.

Speaker 5 (04:00):
Back in my day it wasn't all the same.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
And those you two folks, they've all sold out. The
sad Ham chorus hero scream and shout, sad Pam crying
on fan, complaining bout the prices. Things ain't going ass fan.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Sad Pam always in a jam, turned down and there
you are just a sad.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
C And that's and that's it. That is it. Hey, guys,
Good evening, Happy Sunday, and uh yeah, we're Frank free tonight.
So I saw Robin uh Freddie Mack in the chat. Paul,
it'saw poland chat. So one of you guys want to

so special shout out to folks in green text in

(05:15):
the chat. Cooley was in there first KA nine q
z G YouTube channel members. Andy Cowley was in there
right behind him. Of course, I see Lee. Let's see
who else? Ed AC three, I k Lee again, ed again.

(05:35):
There we go Digital Warlock W five wn R. That's
a good name. Let's see I see Tom in there.
What's up Tom, Ron, Paul the Southern Ham, Good evening,
Dave Dobbins, good evening, Oh Dave, what's up, buddy? I
haven't seen you in a while. Let's see Wayne. Uh yeah, Wayne, Jerry,

(06:03):
Wayne the Iron Bunny Chronicles. Is that? Huh, that's a
name I've seen. I recognize that name though.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Let's see who else is in there. Cool, he's back
in there again. Jeff AA four BC Gray Man, Poda,
what's up guys? All right, Freddy, That's what I'm gonna
do after the stream is over, as I'm gonna be
watching land Man. Of course, my wife hadn't seen the

(06:31):
first season of land Man. She's in the chat right now.
I saw her in there a minute ago, so she
hadn't seen the first season of Landman. But I told
her she needed to watch it because there's a big
Texas tech theme in it and that's where she went
to college. But I'm gonna watch the premiere of the
second season of land Man, which came out today. Is
it just one episode or that they drop the whole thing?

(06:53):
How did that work? I don't know. I don't remember,
cause last year I watched it late light. I think
it was weak by week last year, wouldn't it. I
think I started watching it like halfway through the season,
so I binged the first few episodes, but then I
had to wait. So greetings from Utah, old bearded. One

(07:14):
good evening. Oh and thank you for the super chat.
Whoever that was a minute ago? That was col terreu
or No, I'm sorry that was a new member. It
was Brandon Brandon Winn. Thank you for the super chat.
Appreciate that land Man Paul is on. He says, what

(07:34):
platform is Landman on? It's on Paramount Plus. Paramount Plus
is where Landman is. Let's see what is Landman. It
is a freaking awesome TV show. Billy Bob Thornton. Billy
Bob Thornton. Yeah, it's done by the guy who does
what's his name. I can't remember the dude's name right now,

(07:58):
but he's the same guy who did Yellowstone in those
in the eighteen sixty three in the nineteen twenty six series.
Don thank you for the gifted memberships. Appreciate that. There
we go. All right, So a couple things real quick.

(08:19):
I bought last year. We're going to talk about some
Black Friday deals here in a minute. Last year, I
bought a Tulsa King. Yeah, Taylor Sheridan, Thank you, Freddy.
That's him, Taylor Sheridan. Last year, I bought a brewery
tour at a event that my wife and I went to,

(08:41):
and I was gonna I had a whole year to
use it, so I waited about a whole year to
use it. But I have a tour setup that's completely
paid for, and I think you I can bring up
to ten people, and so I have seven spots left,
and anyone who is in the North Texas area and
I'm looking at you in five skt or anyone else
out there who wants to come with me to Community

(09:03):
Beer Company this coming Friday at three pm. Just come
up there. We'll meet up there a few minutes early,
and then we'll get a brewery tour and I think
everyone gets two free beers, so the whole thing's paid for.
It was a it was a charity auction that we
went to last year and I bought that. I bought
it thinking, oh, I would use it for my audience,
and I just never I should have done it last summer,

(09:24):
but we were out of town. It was really hot,
you know. They got a really cool patio up their
Community Beer, So I just I should have done it earlier,
but I didn't. And but it's supposed to be nice
this this week. I think it's supposed to rain like
midwek but it's supposed to be done by Friday, and
they've got an inside part anyway, if it is raining,
we can go inside, no problem. So yeah, Community Beer
Company if you won a free ticket to the events

(09:46):
from three to five. It's about two hours from three
to five this Friday, which is the what's the date
on Friday twenty first, is that right? Yeah, the twenty
first Friday, the twenty first, three pm Community BEERNT Company,
three ten Commonwealth in Dallas. I can give you. I
can let you have one of the seven free tickets

(10:09):
that are left. Anybody who is interested, please please let
me know. Hit me up in Discord, send me an
email something like that. Don that's okay, buddy. You don't
have to drink, it's cool. Come hang out if you
want to, Freddie, if you want to drive down, you
can have a spot. So it's up to you, bud.
But yeah, that's what we're doing on Friday, So please

(10:30):
please take advantage of this because I'd rather more people.
I'd rather the tickets get used. And I know this,
that's part of the hard thing about doing something locally
because a lot of people aren't here. I get it,
but but I still would like to get the tickets
used better for that. So we're gonna be talking tonight
about early Black Friday deals because guess what, oh look

(10:53):
at that. See all you got to do is ask,
all right, hold on a second, Oh all right, is
that your Oh no, that's me. I can still hear

(11:16):
myself and I can still hear myself in your speakers there, Rob,
that's all right. Rob's wear in my shirt and my hat.
Rob's wear in my hat. I'm mute. What's up, buddy?
How are you?

Speaker 6 (11:31):
I'm great? Hey, land Man. Guess who is on A
this this season?

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Sam Elliott, Sam Elliott, Elliott. I saw that. I saw
Sam Elliott was on it. Yeah, I think, uh did
of Coase? Okay, spoiler alert here did did?

Speaker 7 (11:52):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (11:53):
God?

Speaker 1 (11:53):
What's his name? Did the guy? Did the the the
owner of the big oil company? Did me Moore's husband?
Did he die? I think he died? Yeah? Okay, all right,
all right, what's the actor's name who plays at John Ham?

Speaker 6 (12:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:07):
John Ham? Yeah, yeah, yeah, John Ham. Yeah, So he died.
It was kind of uh, it looked like it was
going that way at the end of the season, but
it wasn't real clear. So, okay, so we talking about
I guess we just talked about Landman tonight.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
Yeah. I'm excited for that.

Speaker 7 (12:27):
I know.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
It's good. Yeah, I did too. It was a great show.
It was a great show.

Speaker 6 (12:30):
So well, here's a couple of other things, right, all right,
go ahead. So they filmed some of it in Springtown,
and they filmed some of it in fort Worth and
some other places around. But well, I mean for them
to actually find their way to Springtown. True, Yeah, that's
that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Well, a lot of it takes place in fort Worth,
John Hamm And to me more, their house is technically
in fort Worth. I think it the house that they
supposedly live in, which is it's supposedly out in Odessa,
but that house is actually in fort Worth. Is well,
that neighborhood is in fort Worth. So yeah, part of
the show takes place in fort Worth and part of
it takes place in like the Permian Basin and that
kind of thing. So but it's it's it's a fun show.

(13:11):
It's a fun show. I'm glad that Freddy mentioned it tonight.
So what's going on with you?

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Man?

Speaker 1 (13:16):
How are you been?

Speaker 6 (13:17):
I'm good boy, just been busy, I got you know,
I don't know. I'm sure it's because I'm still a
rookie at this but it takes me forever to get
ready for a live stream, like I think about it
all week on what I'm going to try to do,
you know what I mean, I can't wait till I

(13:38):
get to the point where you know I can do
it in like an hour. I'm not there now, I.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Mean, yeah it yeah, it takes me about It doesn't
take me the whole hour. It takes me about a
half hour because I double in triple check things. You know.
You know, if you've never screwed up a live stream,
that you've never actually done a live stream. So but
I think about it. I don't think about it all week,
but I do think about it all day.

Speaker 6 (14:05):
It's like, think about like what am I going to
do this week? Right?

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah? I do that too, Yeah, so yeah, yeah, I
do that sometimes.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
So that's really slowed down, like my video production, right
because I'm getting trying to prep and get ready to
do those kinds of things. But uh man, it's just
nice that the weather is getting a little more comfortable.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
It's eighty five degrees in the deer stand. Yesterday it
wasn't really coming well yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
In the last couple of days haven't been great. But
have you seen any deer?

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Yes? Yeah, yeah, we uh well I didn't really see
much this weekend. Last weekend we saw deer the first weekend.
We saw deer this weekend. So yesterday morning, I woke up,
I went outside about five am. We're not talking about
Black Friday yet, guys. I went outside about five am
and at coyotes howling, which is unusual to hear out there.

(15:01):
But they're like, like man, they sound like they're right there.
So I didn't really see anything. Yesterday saw a couple
of I saw one little buck yesterday. Well, this morning,
I get up about the same time, I go out
to the stand, get there shortly before six, and right
at sun up, I see four coyotes walking down the
tree line. And that's the first time I've ever seen

(15:23):
a pack of coyotes on that property. I've seen them
individually want at the time. I'll see an individual coyote
about once every three years. They're not very plentiful out
there at all, but a pack, a small pack of kyotos.
And they came walking up the road kind of towards
the deer stand, and when they got next to me,
I was like, hey, they turned around. It was like
tucktail and run. They were scared, so they'd scared them

(15:46):
off it. But I saw, you know, twenty minutes later
they came back out on the other side of the field.
So I wonder if And my buddy Mike, he's like,
did you shoot any I was like, no, I didn't
shoot any I don't like shooting animals for no reason.
But I got to think about it. It's like, maybe
that's why I hadn't seen deer. Because there's coyotes are
out there roaming around making a bunch of noise. I'm like,
maybe I should shoot one of them and scare the

(16:06):
other ones off, haven't. I didn't do it, though, I.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Was wondering if you've been seeing anything, because yeah, I mean,
you know, if you guys aren't paying attention. Jason is
like he's doing all these shorts from his from his
deer blind, right, He's got all kinds of stuff going on. Yeah,
I figure, boy, it must be slow.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Uh part of it, part of its slow? Yeah, what Tim,
don't put any effort into this at all, buddy, what's
you'd sit in the living room? Look, he's got a
boelt cereal in his hand. I mean, oh, ice cream?

Speaker 6 (16:40):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (16:40):
Yeah, Well.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
What's up man? How are you?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (16:45):
Doing pretty good? Actually, you know, actually, to be honest,
I came in from my life stream, sat down in
a chair. I haven't left been here all day.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Just doing stuff. One yeah, uh, nothing wrong with that. Cool.
So you guys have any cool Black Friday deals that
you have found so far? Do you guys do any
videos for Black Friday stuff or anything like that?

Speaker 6 (17:12):
You know, I've I have not, Like I might see
something that really catches my eye that I think is
a good deal. And like today, I think it was today.
It was today or yesterday, I think it was today. Amazon,
I noticed there was a twenty dollars coupon on those

(17:33):
on those waterproof bags that you know that I took
to Colorado. Remember those, Oh that's the really nice bags.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
No. I didn't even know they sold those on Amazon.
I thought you had to buy them direct from the manufacturer.

Speaker 6 (17:46):
No, no, okay, they have one Amazon, and so they
had a twenty dollars coupon on it, which basically took
it down to be even with the lowest price of
the year.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
Really.

Speaker 6 (17:57):
Yeah, okay, So I put that out on uh okay
as a post in in YouTube right for for my subscribers.
But sure, I just do something like that. I don't
do ye, I mean it feels I mean, you do
a great job with those videos.

Speaker 7 (18:13):
Yeah, I like watching them.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
You know, my credit card doesn't.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear that.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
I'm glad you. I'm glad you do a bunch of
those like during the day when I'm at work and
I can't watch them.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Oh yeah, yeah, but yeah, that's true. Yeah. So this
is the Amazon list we're talking about here. And I
don't remember, Rob, I don't remember if I told you
about this or not. But have you looked at this
wolf box? Uh yeah, dash cam? Okay, well you have right,
it is the one. Well, this is the newer version. Okay,

(18:51):
so this is a try. This is fitting for you.
I think I've told you about this, but the audience
hadn't heard it. So this one has a third camera
that you put on your bumpers so you can see
in front of you, so you don't almost drive off
a cliff like we did in Colorado. Right, So, because
we were going to run. We were going around a
curve in Colorado and Robs at the front seat and

(19:12):
Frank's in the back seat, and and uh and I'm
going around a curve like this and I'm and the
truck is facing up, so I'm looking at the sky
and uh, if we're going around a curve, it robs
like strip go that way because there was a drop
off right there, and if I would have kept going straight,
we would have gone over the cliff. And I knew
it was there. I wouldn't get to go. I was
just about to turn the wheel, but uh, but it was.

(19:32):
It was this. That's what this one's for. This one
has a front facing camera, rear facing camera, and a
third camera that you put on your bump I mean,
I guess you could put it. You put it anywhere, really,
but the way they do it is you put it in, uh,
in the bumper and you kind of point it down
towards the ground so that you you don't run over
stuff or you know, run running off of stuff. So
I I.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
Really like that system. Yeah, I found myself watching it
a lot whenever we were driving out Colorad and driving
back right. You know, it's got a great image, the
qualities there, it's nice.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Yeah, and a lot of that which though I haven't
put those videos up yet because I did the Thirty
Days of Ham Radio in September and that was shortly
after the Colorado trip. So all of those National Park
Adventure videos that I made, I'm actually still in the
process of getting those edited, so I'm going to post
those soon. But some of the footage driving footage is
from this camera. But the reason I mentioned it is

(20:27):
because I went and bought this camera and I don't know,
you call it fade or luck, I don't know. About
a month after installed it, they contacted me and they're like, hey,
we'd like to offer you our new tri program and
I'm like, dude, I just bought your other one and
they're like, oh, really that they were, and I showed
them some video that I had tied that they're like, oh,
that's great. So they sent me this new one. But

(20:49):
they're running a Black Friday special that is if you
use if you see right here, it's twenty three percent
off right now on Amazon, just straight up. But they
have a coupon code and it's BF save thirty one
BF like Black Friday Save thirty one, and that's supposed
to work on Amazon, and that'll get you thirty percent
off of the instead of twenty three percent off, which

(21:12):
they average they advertised everybody. It will actually get you
thirty percent off the price for this uh for this
wolfbox G nine hundred tripro of front facing, rear facing
and a third camera. You can kind of put anywhere
you want to. But I've been real happy with this thing.
If you have an overlanding rig or an off roading
rig or a jeep or something like that that you

(21:32):
want to take somewhere, this is a great if you
have a bunch of stuff. If you if you go
on trips and you take Rob and Frank with you,
like I do, and you pile your the truck bed
full of stuff so you can't see out the rear
view mirror anyway, then the uh the or you know,
like you Tim, because you've got the same problem in
the Bronco right. Yeah, I put my my rear facing

(21:53):
camera on the back of my bed rack, so I
don't even see in the bed. It's behind the truck. Yeah,
I got enough to the top of the wreck. Yeah, yep, yep, yep.
So and you can adjust it accordingly, and then you
can you can the mirror itself is touchscreen, so you
can adjust the camera so the mirror. The camera has
a swivel that it mounts to and then the internal

(22:14):
camera itself also has an up and down pivot, so
you can adjust the pitch on the on the camera
internally and externally both so it's yeah, I have.

Speaker 7 (22:25):
One of the front facing cameras on the Bronco and
I love it. That is yes, great because and it's
even more so so it was initially mounted in the
grill and when I put the winch mount and everything
on there, that that got in the way of it.
So I extended the camera out to the front of
the of the wench so I can see now, especially

(22:46):
with that extra foot out in front of me, when
I'm falling into parking spots or out on the trail,
things like that, and that that also ties in with
that display. In conjunction, I have two cameras, one on
each mirror side mirrors that go down and then I
get a nice like panoramic view of everything, obstacles, stuff

(23:08):
like that when I'm when I'm out on the trails,
which is nice.

Speaker 1 (23:11):
And this comes with a formatted micro SD card. I
don't know when I got mine. I thought that was
pretty cool because a lot of the times you buy
these things, you gotta buio microresty card and format it
and put it in, you know, figure out what's the
largest size it'll take, and blah blah blah. This comes
ready to go. You just plug it up and go. Granted,
you got to run the cables and make sure you
hide the wires if you want to do it correctly.

(23:32):
But it's just it came with all of that, and
I just really it has GPS also, so I didn't
never hook up my GPS, but you can do that
if you want to.

Speaker 6 (23:40):
Oh that's cool. So is the one camera I saw
the description there they were talking about five something Giga
Hurts is one of the cameras wireless?

Speaker 1 (23:52):
No, no, they're all wired okay. So the front facing
camera is actually built into the mirror. If you're looking
at my screen right now, that little camera on yep,
right there, that little lens right there is on the
back of the actual mirror itself. So the mirror straps
over your existing mirror. But they they do have and
I'm about to order this, they do have a replacement bracket.

(24:15):
So you just take your old mirror off and put
the new put and put the this this camera mirror
on and it replaces the whole mirror. But if you
don't want to do that. It just comes with these
straps and you just strap it over your existing mirror.
So that's the that's the front facing camera. There this
one at the top here that looks like a kind
of a V shape on the bottom. That's the one
that goes in the back. And then this new one
right here is that's the uh, I guess that's the

(24:38):
one you put on the bumper. The front facing camera
is four K, the rear facing camera is two K,
and then the new tricamp, the new third camera is
ten EIGHTP. But no, it's not where they They do
have the screen, it's the whole system itself. You can
connect to it and control it from an app on
your phone via Wi Fi, but it does not one

(25:00):
of the one of the disappointments I had about this
one because I wanted it to I wanted to connect
this camera system because I have ambient WiFi in my
truck and you know which I put in myself. It
is not a wireless install, Paul. The Southern ham note
as not is that you have to wire everything up,
which in my opinion that's better because it's a it's
a more stable image, and I have some powerful radios

(25:23):
in my truck that I don't want to be interfered
with wireless signals anyway. So what was I saying? It's
I lost my train of thought here. Uh so, oh,
so I would I would like one that will connect
to ambient Wi Fi and I can monitor the camera remotely,

(25:44):
Like if I park my truck in the parking lot
and I go inside of a venue somewhere. I want
to be able to watch the camera and if something happens,
I want to be able to get it on. Well,
this does not do that. Yeah, this does not do that.
That's the only drawback about the system that I don't.

Speaker 6 (25:57):
Want to like kind of like censory mode.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Yeah, yeah, kind of like that, yes, right, exactly exactly.

Speaker 7 (26:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
And I know there's some other webcams and dash cams
out there that will do that. This one does not,
And I'm hoping, fingers crossed that maybe their next rendition
will do that. But it does have Wi Fi and
you can connect your phone to it and you can
kind of download the images to your phone or control
it with your I don't know, you can do stuff
with your phone. I haven't never really used it like
that because I just use it when I'm driving so
but it's a cool system and they have a Black

(26:26):
Friday sale right now BF save thirty one is the
is the coupon code? The links to this, I've been
sharing the links in the chat. The links to everything
that we talk about are already in the description of
the video, including this, and I put the coupon code
in there for this as well. So that's a pretty
cool system there. And then max Pedition right here, I
think this is still on sale. It is. Yeah, this

(26:46):
Kodiak gearslinger is seventeen percent off Lotus price in thirty days.
The folks at max Pedition reached out to me and
Rob and I think Ack got an email from them
a couple months ago, and they're interested in working with
the Ham radio community. So you're going to be seeing
some some more Max Pedition videos upcoming on several of
our channels. So, really good quality gear. Not not necessarily

(27:09):
the best bags that are out there, but they are excellent,
excellent quality. Yeah, there's one. Rob's got one right there,
great quality bags. I have several Expedition bags. I'm happy
with them all.

Speaker 7 (27:18):
I think they'd be open to designing some specific specific
amuse type pouches and things.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
You know, I wouldn't be surprised if they would. I
asked them the burning question. I'm like, dude, I'm like,
you guys need an affiliate program. And he's like, yeah,
he goes, I've been told that. Before he goes, I'm
going to look into that. I'm like, okay, because they've
never had an affiliate program that I that I'm aware of,
so so hopefully fingers Crossed will have an affiliate program.
But even without affiliate program, I'll still push their stuff

(27:47):
because it's really good stuff.

Speaker 6 (27:48):
Yeah, and get us super value. I mean yeah, for
what you pay for those things, it's unbelievable value.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:55):
I mean I could see Rob coming up with a
satellite slingers special.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, yep. Justin, Jason, are you doing another
discount special with gigaparts by black Friday. I've bought staff. No, No,
we don't have any other let's make a deal stuff
planned with gigaparts right now. It's I'm going to get

(28:23):
This is a total guess on my part. Okay, I
haven't talked to them about this, but the last two
times they've wanted to do it. It's at the end
of a quarter. So I'm guessing we'll probably have something
around the end of the year, but they might just
skip this quarter because this is the biggest sales months
of the whole year, Black Friday, Christmas, New Year's this
is the biggest sale month. You guys. Look at gigaparts website.

(28:46):
They have and I shared this in my shopping video yesterday.
Let me pull this up real quick. Weekly specials at
gigaparts right here. This is uh. These items will change
about once a week. And they've got twenty dollars off
their battery box right now so that you'll go grab

(29:06):
that some solar solar panels, power Film stuff that that's
an excellent lightsaber portable solar charger one sixty five. That's
a six hundred dollars solar panel. The reason they're discounting
it is because power Film is about to come out
with a version two of it. They were supposed to
have it out already. They're kind of delayed, but you'll
see some stuff on that on the channel soon as well.
Put a thirty three masks, use the code case five

(29:28):
HWB and you get double points system and then save
your points. The next time they do a ten x
or twenty X points thing. Okay, but yeah, but no,
nothing planned for Let's make a deal with Giga Parts
as of right now. So you guys don't wait, just
go go get what you want and then we'll do
something else soon. But I don't know when.

Speaker 7 (29:44):
What's that you said? It's Hunter the one sixty five.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Well, oh the Lightsaber Max Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's a six hundred dollars I mean it used to
be like five ninety nine for this thing is it
is a battery with the built in solar panel. Come on,
open a pit there is and it rolls out to
this solar panel here. I think it's an eighteen WATS

(30:10):
solar panel. It's got a micro USB and uh you
and I'm sorry, Yeah, micro USB and USB A on it.
And the new one's gonna have USBC. Of course, this
thing's like eight or ten years old. It's it was
designed a long time ago, and they've they've they've sold
a lot of them, and it's a cool piece of kit,
it really is, but it's outdated because it doesn't have USBC.

(30:32):
So they're making a new one. But and Gigabart says
one hundred and sixty five dollars price on it. Now,
that's an excellent price on that.

Speaker 7 (30:39):
I mean for a couple hundred bucks, I can buy
an IT d after.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Right, exactly, Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, So okay, thank you.
Just any thoughts on Black Friday versus Cyber Monday, Jerry,
if any the last two years, Innians, the sales will
be pretty much the same from most places. I think

(31:07):
don n five skt. Here's a question, Robert, he don
fi SKT. A minute ago he said, have you used
the satellite mode on the news in seventy six HT,
which of course I haven't, But have you messed with that?

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Yeah? He actually hit me up a little earlier today.
I'm actually I have loaded that. Well, I loaded it
on the b Tech Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Well yeah, okay, yeah, same radio basically.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Yeah. Yeah. And I'm actually going to be talking about
that next Friday because I'm getting my kit together to
do my travel right, my holiday travels, and I will
be able to, you know, take some stuff with me
without getting weighted down to do satellites and some other
radio stuff while I'm traveling. So that's going to be
part of my travel kit, and that's part of what

(31:55):
I'm talking about next week.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Good, good, excellent, okay, good right right, So, uh, Paul,
I don't know what you're talking about, lo l WTF,
I don't. I don't know what you're referring to there.
So I'm speaking of travel kits. My wife and I
have a trip planned, uh late February, two weeks after Hamcasion.

(32:19):
We're going to fly to Vegas and rent a camper van.
It's a Dodge. It's a it's a Dodge. It's the
Dodge Virgin. What's it called, I can't remember what they're
going Pro Master, Dodge pro Master van.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
It's like a sprinter van.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
I've been wanting to drive one of those. Yeah, so
it's like a sprinter. She looked at sprinter vans from
from BMW and or no, I'm sorry, Mercedes sprinter vans,
and we looked at a couple of those, and I said,
I'd rather drive a pro Master because if I ever
buy one, that's probably the one I'll get. And so
we're gonna rent a Dodge Pro Master that's totally done up, solar,
its own shower, totally self contained, and we're going to

(33:00):
fly out there and we're going to tour the five
what's called the Mighty Five, the five National parks on
the southern end of Utah. And she's like, well, are
you gonna be able to bring all this? Because she's
she always makes fun of me. I take too much
stuff in places. Rob you may know what that's like.

Speaker 6 (33:15):
Right, So I know a little bit of something there about.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
So she's like, are you gonna be able to bring
everything you want? I'm like, you know what that is?
A video? I will make a video about packing light
and what I'm gonna pack. And I already already know
what I'm gonna take. So she's like, you're gonna bring
the starlink And I'm like, okay, well you told me
I should bring the starlink. Just remember this, honey. And
but she's right, she's like, they won't have any Internet

(33:41):
national parks. Of course they don't. So I got to
figure out how to get the starlink in there too.
But Steppard, No, I got the mini. I've got the
Starlink Mini dish. It's fine. It's yeah, I've got plenty
of room for it. But that's gonna be a cool
video to say, Okay, we're flying to Vegas. We're gonna
take a camera van for five days and tour all
the National Park. Here's my kit that I'm taking on

(34:02):
a plane, and it's a it's a minimal kit, you know,
with radio battery and antenna. Probably take like a pac
tena or something similar and and my starlink mini dish
and put all that together.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
So I can't wait to see that. I mean, yeah,
you know, I kind of do that whenever we do
some of our trips, but I cheat because you know,
I can drop stuff off and you and you you'll.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
Haul it for me, right, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:31):
I'm not taking everything I need right in Beverly Hillbillies
when we go camp on these days.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Oh gosh, yes, and yeah, try packing three of us
in a truck, my goodness. But but yeah, so that's
so that's going to be a cool video us coming
next February. Hey, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
I hate to ask you to do this, but if
I don't ask you now, I'll forget.

Speaker 5 (34:57):
You.

Speaker 6 (34:57):
Were mentioned something about a brewery thing while I was
trying to get yes, So what is that again?

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Okay, okay, we got more people watching now anyway. So,
so last year for the for the Dallas Pets, a
lot they have they have what they call a DPA
swore a every year. In fact, it was just like
two weekends. We didn't go this year, but we well,
my wife went and volunteered this year. Last year we
went and I bought on a on a silent auction.
I bought a brewery tour of community brewery for up

(35:27):
to ten people, and uh, you know, it's like a
two hour thing. We get there, they take us on
a tour. I think maybe they have some finger foods.
I don't remember, but we each get like two beers
each and it's all paid for and and I'm doing
that Friday this coming Friday, the twenty first. Yeah, twenty first,
at three pm. So I've got seven spots left, my wife,

(35:52):
my myself, my wife and Frank are going. I put
it out on Discord the other day. A couple of
guys said, I'd love to if I was closer, but
but yeah, I've got seven spots left and would like
to fill as many as possible. So Rob, I was
kind of hoping you would be there because you're local.

Speaker 6 (36:08):
Yeah, does it start at three? Does the tour start
at three? I think I'm trying to think how much
work I got A ditch.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
I think the tour will start like thirty minutes or
so after the official time starts. Okay, so I just
I did it. I could have done it at an
early I could have done it at noon, or I
could have done it at like seven pm and three.

Speaker 6 (36:30):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
I hate traffic in Dallas on Fridays, so I tried
to do it a little bit earlier. I was like,
you know a lot of people blow out of work
early on Fridays anyway, So yeah, trying to Yeah.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
I'll come along. I'm in for that. That'll be that'll
be a good time. I like community beer. It's good.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yeah, they're Yeah, they're they have they have a few
that are good there. There are most there are flagship beers,
a Mosaic i PA, which I don't care for i Pas,
but but they have some other good.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
Beer sure stuff.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
I mean they do. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (36:57):
But that's all right.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Yep. So okay, Don says he can't ditch work right now.
But okay, all right, Don, I was hoping you'd make it.
I know you're not technically in DFW anymore. Don, He's
out near Athens or something, but but yeah, that's what
that is. So anybody else who wants a spot, let
me know, hit me up in discord or.

Speaker 6 (37:15):
Something that all I act together, though, make sure I'm
ready for the stream before I go.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Oh yeah, right, well you don't stream till like nine
o'clock though, right, Oh.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
I know, but I told Jeff right, you know, stressful situation.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
Yeah, I hear you. I hear you.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Oh boy, maybe a couple of beers. Well maybe that's
the key I'll find out.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
There you go, there you go, there you go. Uh,
let's see. Okay, So another so two more things I
wanted to talk about tonight. So this is my once again,
this is my Amazon list. If you guys, I didn't
give the proverbial disclosure, but as an Amazon associate, I
can earn commissions from qualifying items and they do help
to support the channel, and they cost you zero dollars

(37:59):
to use. So please use my links. If you don't
want to, that's cool, go to Amazon and search for
whatever we're talking about tonight. Uh, but they do help
to support the channel. Everybody here will. If you get
on Rob's live stream, use Rob's links, Tim's livestream, use timlinks.
But tonight we're on my live stream, so use my links.
But oh see there, you know, you talk about a

(38:23):
guy long enough. And then the other thing is red
Odo reached out to me about I don't know, two
maybe three weeks ago, and they said, okay, we've partnered
with you with you for a while, and they're offering
like some six percent eight percent off coupons on their website.
But if you use the coupon code of ham Radio

(38:46):
ten from now until the end of the year, the
end of twenty twenty five, you can get a ten
percent discount off of their already sales prices. This is
a special coupon they gave me to give to you guys,
because red Odo has been really, really good, supportive, one
of the easier companies to work with, a very easy
company to work with. There's a lot of easy companies
to work with for batteries, but red Odo has been

(39:07):
one of the one of the easier ones I think so.
And they're good customer service, really responsive to emails, and
just I've been really happy with all the batteries of
theirs I've used. So ham Radio ten will get you
an additional ten percent off and that coupon will work
until the end of twenty twenty five. So you guys
go out there and I will. I'll grab a link
for you. I've got an affiliate link for them too.
It is in the description of the video, and let

(39:29):
me go grab that for you real quick. But yeah,
there it is right there. And but yeah, ham Radio
ten is the coupon code you guys want to use
for that, So check that out right there, Paul, what's
going on? Man?

Speaker 5 (39:43):
Here?

Speaker 1 (39:43):
Are you?

Speaker 6 (39:44):
Hey? Good?

Speaker 5 (39:45):
I had to figure something out with Chrome and it
ended up being Discord. So now Discord is open Chrome.
When I try to select something on the toolbar, the
little three Hamburger men, you get selected and I can't
do anything. And it was because Discord is open for
some reason. Now that affects Chrome.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
That's weird. Yeah, okay, huh.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
I wasn't able to get in. I couldn't do anything.
I'm like, I can't do anything with this because I
can't select anything in Chrome.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
You know, I stopped using Chrome and I started using Brave. Yeah,
maybe maybe a month ago. And it's good, But there's
several of my plugins that just flat out just every
now and then, my either my extensions, which they all
load into Brave, but sometimes they just don't work, and
there's been a couple of websites that I just could

(40:29):
not log into. Like you go to the website, you
put in your user name, the password, you hit hit enter,
and the website would just kind of spin. So I'd
go to Chrome and log in just fine, and I'm like,
what is the deal? So it's it seems like Brave
is a little bit kind of like using chromium on
a Linux.

Speaker 7 (40:46):
Box, right, Well, it's all chromium.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Well yeah, it is all chromium, but.

Speaker 6 (40:51):
It's security focused, so it is. Yes, if it believes
there's something not right, it's and it's it's gonna it's
gonna struggle.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
And that maybe maybe that's it. Yeah, okay, and maybe
that's it. And it is much much less of a
memory hog than Chrome is. Chrome is a complete and
total memory hog. Although the other day I was looking
in task Manager for something and Brave had like twelve
instances open. Now I probably had eighteen tabs open, but
you know that's just how I roll. But yeah, Chrome

(41:21):
was uh. Freddie Mack says he uses Brave for streaming
only pretty much. Yeah, okay, maybe.

Speaker 5 (41:29):
Because I tried Firefox when your stream started and I
couldn't chat it kept saying you have to be a subscriber,
and there was no subscriber button. I was already a subscriber.

Speaker 6 (41:39):
Some what is going on?

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Oh okay, so yes, yeah, so that's a new thing
that I do on YouTube now it's you have to
be a subscriber for one minute to chat. You're probably
not logged into your correct YouTube account with your.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
Firefox browserhause that's probably what it is. I tried im
and it probably didn't import it right anyway.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
And I used to use and love Firefox back in
the day, back before I discovered, back before Chrome was around,
really and I tried to go back to Firefox and
it's fine, But I don't know.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
I just I just like, eh, it's gotten kind of
chrome esque and it's bloatwear.

Speaker 1 (42:16):
Maybe No, I didn't think I didn't. I didn't think
it's I didn't think it did. Cloud sink as well,
because like all of my bookmarks and my histories and
my log ins and my password, and I don't save
any of my I've got I've got I've got a
lot of my credit cards save, but I don't save password.
Says do you want to save your password? And I'm like,
I want you to shut up and never ask me
that question again. Never save a path. I hate saving passwords.

Speaker 6 (42:40):
But you know, Fox is what I use on all
my Linux machines. That's all I use on my Linux.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
Do you okay? Yeah, okay, So on this one guy?

Speaker 5 (42:49):
Does it work with everything? The streaming all that works? Fine?

Speaker 6 (42:53):
So I'm using Brave.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Yeah, yeah, this is Brave right here.

Speaker 6 (42:57):
Oh and I've got I've got five instant is running
with eighty five tabs open across five incis seriously serious professional.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
Yeah, yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (43:09):
Have it on my phone. I got to install it
on them.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
I haven't put Brave. I'm like, well, yeah, I did.
I put Brave on my phone. Yeah, but I just
I just I don't know. I just I wanted something
to I like Chrome, I really do. I've always liked Chrome.
It's just so freaking heavy. It's such a memory hog.
I'm just like, you know, and when Brave said, okay,
we'll work with Chrome extensions and we'll import all your
bookmarks and we'll do this and this and this, and
I'm like, it's about ninety five percent there as far

(43:35):
as working with everything that Chrome works with, ninety seven
percent maybe from no that's fine, that's fine, No worries, Dave.
What's up? Brother?

Speaker 8 (43:47):
There we go, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 6 (43:49):
What's up?

Speaker 1 (43:49):
Man?

Speaker 7 (43:49):
There?

Speaker 6 (43:49):
Are you pretty good? Pretty good?

Speaker 1 (43:51):
Good?

Speaker 8 (43:52):
Just trying to get laundry and stuff done. I'm like, oh, hell,
I jump on?

Speaker 1 (43:55):
Okay, cool? What what what Black Friday Specialists? Can we
see from Seed Studios this this month?

Speaker 8 (44:02):
You know, I don't think there's any to be totally honest.
There everything's still in China, so if you want to
pay for shipping.

Speaker 5 (44:10):
I still haven't got my solar node because it's like
forty shipping.

Speaker 8 (44:13):
Yeah. Yeah, they're working on it.

Speaker 6 (44:16):
They're working on it.

Speaker 8 (44:17):
I know that much.

Speaker 7 (44:17):
I thought I saw at least it was a couple
of weeks ago. I thought I saw that they had
the solar nodes in California.

Speaker 8 (44:23):
Oh really, they have one version of it, but not
the other version at l one on Amazon for a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Yeah, yeah, they did. M hm hmm, Okay, what was
that cool one that you had at to Belton that
they were about to release.

Speaker 8 (44:40):
That's the l one, that's the one that's the only
one in Alli Kat's big case.

Speaker 1 (44:46):
Right, which right, Yeah, you said they were you said
you were working. Still tweaking some things on the three
D print for that case. Yeah yeah, okay that ever
get done.

Speaker 8 (44:55):
It is, it's she's got to post it on Princibles.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
Oh cool, Okay, Okay, I have to get an updated case. Yeah,
I have to buy the board. So, uh yeah, I've
got some I got. I got hooked up with a
just through happened well, sitting in the deer stand when
it's eighty five degrees and browsing Instagram will make you
contacts to get people in your live stream who knew.

(45:21):
But uh I I got. I got hooked up with
a with a guy that makes a a hardened tough
mestastic Laura device, and I hit him up on Instagram,
and you know, he I was like, I'm trying not
to I'm trying not to sound over the top here,

(45:42):
but he's like, hey, Jason, I watch your videos all
the time. Okay, thanks man, but uh, I'm sorry I
haven't I just found you. Sorry about that, but uh
but he really cool guy. We met over zoom so
we're gonna we'll be doing a live stream together next month.
So some some cool cool stuff with that.

Speaker 7 (45:58):
When I when I met Paul the first time, he
kind of did the same thing with me.

Speaker 1 (46:01):
Did he. Yeah, I can see Paul doing that. You
kind of fan fan boys it sometimes.

Speaker 5 (46:07):
I picked someone new every time and I haven't met
and then I fan boyded them.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
Oh my goodness. But yeah, okay, Well, Ridotto was the
was the second one that we were going to talk
about tonight. So Amazon red Otto ham Radio ten for Ridotto,
and the third one is and this this can be
a discussion. I would like this to be a discussion.
So POC Link, they're one of the POC companies that

(46:36):
reached out to me and sent me. This was a
few months ago. They sent me a product and I
looked over their website and I'm like, okay, some of
these some of these you see this right here is
global coverage works off grid. I'm like, I get a
little bit twitchy when I hear these pocut away.

Speaker 6 (46:56):
These guys advertising.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
Right correct now, POC They're okay, and I'm working with them,
and this works off grid is actually accurate because this
one you're looking out on the screen right now has
an FRS radio built into it. So it's a POC
push a talk over cellular radio with a SIM card
and an FRS radio, so the two radios will talk

(47:20):
to one another off grid, which means no so if
you run out of cellular connection. Okay.

Speaker 8 (47:25):
I started to see that more and more combo radios,
correct some TWI and POC radios.

Speaker 1 (47:32):
So so walks On. So every everyone wants to think, oh,
we're the first ones to do this. I'm like, no,
you're not. Walks On created a radio five years ago
that was a dual band. It looked like a UV
nine delta. It was a dual band with a SIM card.
And I think that they there was something wonky about
the way it worked on set, like it wouldn't work
on Verizon, but it would work on AT and T

(47:53):
or something like. I don't remember all the details about it,
but it was the concept was there a long time ago.
So and this is kind of like the new iteration
now I will tell you this. So POC link I
did a video about them about their original POC one,
which is the black one here on the left, which
is just PTT over cellular. That's all it is. It
comes with a SIM card. It's like fifty bucks a
year per radio. The first year is free once you

(48:15):
buy the radio. They're running a special right now. Well,
first of all, you can get a coupon Ham Radio
two dot zero will give you ten percent off. Okay,
they're actually running a special for the month of November
that will get you free lifetime access to their network.
So if you buy their radios in November and there's

(48:36):
no coupon code, this is for everybody. This is something
they're advertising. Everybody use the coupon code to save ten percent,
of course, but they that like during the month of November,
anybody who buys one will get free no monthly fees,
no annual fees, for life, and for life basically means
until this hardware gets outdated and doesn't work anymore, which
is probably several years.

Speaker 6 (48:57):
Okay the network disappears or that.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
Yeah, well they work over it, so that's the cool thing.
They work. And a lot of these companies do the
same way. They work over AT and T, Verizon and
T Mobile. They work over all three networks, so they
claim and IF and the good thing. So some people
will say, well, I could just do that. I just
put Zelo on my phone. Yeah that's true. That's true.
You put Zello on your phone for free. But if

(49:20):
you have AT and T and you drive into an
area that only T mobile works in your Zello is
not gonna work on your AT and T phone. These
will work on all three cellular networks in the USA,
so there are a little bit better coverage than that,
and for only fifty dollars a year normal price. And
right now, anyone who signs up is getting free access

(49:40):
for you got to buy the radios, of course, then
you get free access for life. You don't have to
pay that at all. So this new poc one Ultra,
they're calling it a poc one Ultra dual mode walkie talkie,
this is the one that has the FRS radio built in.
So I would I would eventually like to see a

(50:00):
gm R S radio, something with more a little bit
more power and you know, maybe maybe even ham ray
too one of these days. I don't know, but you know,
step in the right direction.

Speaker 7 (50:10):
I think Don was asking why not gm R S
is what he asked in the chat, and I and
I think a lot of it's going to probably have
to do with adoptability.

Speaker 6 (50:19):
Right.

Speaker 7 (50:19):
The the f R S is there's there's no it's
further to entry right right, It's it's the same frequencies,
but the license is attached to the unit the radio,
it's not to the person. And and so there's there's
no regulatory oops that anybody has to jump through to
get get on there.

Speaker 1 (50:38):
Correct. Yeah, yeah, so it's just it's it's opened everybody.
Anybody can use it.

Speaker 7 (50:43):
You And right now, even though the f c C
has has taken control back over from not a Erubicon,
as far as enforcement of the bands, uh, it's still
going to take a while for that for the for
the FCC to get back up to speed.

Speaker 5 (51:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (51:01):
I heard Randy wasn't making it easy for him.

Speaker 1 (51:03):
Oh, I'm sure that's true in his own mind at least. Yeah,
that's true.

Speaker 8 (51:08):
So I guess with those POC radios is who do
you know that's going to get one? Because right, they
all work on separate network well they all work on
the same cell networks, but they all have their own
separate server networks.

Speaker 1 (51:21):
So I do I'm not one hundred percent certain on
that what I do know? So they just sent me
some of these ultras. So they sent me the first
one and I used it and I did video and
people people liked it, and I said the saying, Okay,
this is not a replacement for radio. Do not misunderstand
what I'm saying. This is absolutely one hundred and ten

(51:43):
percent not a replacement for radio, and that this is
not really an off grid tool. F S is an
off grid tool, sure, but it's very very limited in range. Okay,
this is another tool in your toolbox. Okay. And I
and part of that radio. I was driving back from Huntsville, Alabama,
last summer, and I left and I had these radios,
one of them with me, and I left one at home.

(52:04):
I texted my wife, was like, turn that radio one
that I left on the counter, and we talked for
five or ten minutes on my way home. I was
in Alabama, she was here at home in Texas, and
I'd put the and it's all on my video. Okay.
So this is just another tool in your toolbox now
with these, And I got to test this. I did
a little bit of tinkering with these this last weekend,

(52:24):
and I got to test this and make sure that
I'm correct in my theory. But it looks like when
you buy these original ones, like they pre programmed the group.
They call it a group like mine was called Jay
Johnston Underscore one. So these two radios are in the
same group together, and I could buy more radios from
them and have them program him and put these in
the same group. It looks to me like these ultra radios,
I can create my own group. So if all four

(52:48):
all four of you guys went out and bought one
of these ultra radios, I could create a group and
send you a QR code, and you could scan the
QR code and you could program it from an app
on your phone as well. And because they have Bluetooth,
you can scan the QR code program my group and
then the five of us could talk in a group.
You can do that for your family, your friends, or
whoever you want to. So I'm still testing all that.

(53:11):
I'm not I'm not one hundred percent sure how all
that works yet. That's still kind of in the in
the testing phase. But as I understand it, it's it's
a it's you know, a little bit more, a little
bit more customizable than the last one that I had.

Speaker 8 (53:23):
I'd like to know, because like I was gonna buy
one of the Linkpoon radios, right I thought, oh, hey,
there's a bunch of people I know that may have them,
but that wouldn't work with like I want to get
one of the ones that's dual band and POC, but
they use a separate server setup, so you can't take

(53:43):
the one that's dual band in POC that manufactures and
connect it to a link POON or maybe a POC link.

Speaker 6 (53:50):
But if they fixed that, or if they're.

Speaker 8 (53:52):
Working on interconnecting them, that would be awesome.

Speaker 1 (53:55):
See. I don't know about interconnecting different brands. That's a
good question. I don't know about that. In the past,
that's not been possible. You're right.

Speaker 7 (54:05):
My thought unlike unlike some of the digital modes that
we deal with, whether it's d MR or they all
have different protocols right that they need to talk to
each other. I my guess is is this is probably
gonna be like All Star right in that concept of
it's a it's a voiceover IP and somebody is setting

(54:27):
up a back end. You have to be able to
connect to that back in and the software that's being
used on all these radios is probably exactly the same
and it's just a matter of getting into the radio
and pointing it to the right back end server to
do that.

Speaker 1 (54:45):
Yeah. Yeah, So anyway, it's it's it's a neat again,
it's a tool and a toolbox. Some people like it,
some people don't. It's fine. I I was contact by
them and I agree to do a video for them.
This first video that I did that I it was
two or three months ago. And the reason I did

(55:07):
that is because I looked over their website and I'm like, Okay,
they're not making a much of outlandish claims. So work
everywhere in the world, totally off grid, works when the
system goes down, works when after a tornado, No it doesn't.
It's cellular, okay, to work everywhere your sophone works and
not anywhere else okay. And they never made those claims.
This works off grid thing again, is because it's frus so.

(55:29):
I I A lot of these companies are gimmicky or
just just you know, very marketing marketing lies in their advertising.
This company I have found to be a little bit
different and not so not so much on the marketing,
you know, bogus so yeah, yeah, and that's why I
like and I used them myself and they do work fine.

(55:49):
But you know, again, not a replacement for your radio
by any stretch of the imagination. Absolutely not a replacement
for your radio. But but you know, some people like
to have these, because I've I've had I've had comments
on that video that I made saying, hey, this is
great because my kid went to college, or I've got
family another state, or my you know, my son moved
out and he's lived in a few cities away. I

(56:11):
want to be able to talk to him when you know,
we can't pick up the phone or whatever. And I'm like, okay,
so it's yeah, one of these.

Speaker 8 (56:19):
Really interested in what when I get on the road,
leave one back behind with my mom?

Speaker 1 (56:24):
Yeah, totally absolutely. Yeah, Yeah, and that's that's what they're
that's what they're good for. So and again, since they
work on all three cellular networks, you don't you're not
limited to only Verizon or only AT and T or
something like that.

Speaker 5 (56:37):
So yeah, I was looking at that TID radio ones
a while back. They're cheaper, but you got to pay annually,
like twenty bucks a year.

Speaker 1 (56:44):
Right, and so TID Radio sent me there. I have
the TID Radio one sitting right here.

Speaker 6 (56:48):
Oh you've got the POC radio from tid.

Speaker 1 (56:49):
Yeah, yeah, they sent me the POC radio.

Speaker 5 (56:52):
So I got the email from Bucklink and I've been
I've been going back and forth with him, and I
want to get it done. If I get the radios,
I want to get it while they do the free
thing this month. I haven't got the radios yet because
I want to test it internationally. I want to because
if I could give one to my wife and then
when I travel a lot easier than having the phones.

Speaker 1 (57:09):
I think I would love to see and I wish
I had these last time we went on a cruise.
You guys, ever gone on a cruise and when you
look at your phone and you're out at sea, it
says cellular at sea or whatever.

Speaker 6 (57:20):
It's called, got to use theirs.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
I wonder if that would I wonder if they'd work
out there. I tell you what we are totally gonna
do the next time we go on a cruise. I'm
giving my wife a Mestastic note and I'm like, We're
going to mestastic all over this freaking Boat's see what?
Because I mean, because that's the ultimate off grid tool.
You know, if you're all on a boat together, you're
not far from one another. I can still text you
we got mestastic. Heck yeah, So, but I'd wonder if

(57:44):
these poc link would work for cellular at sea I
don't know. I don't know if they will or not.

Speaker 5 (57:48):
If I get mine, I'll let you know and we'll
try to do that group thing, because I'm pretty sure. Yeah,
I think you can make your own groups and then
it contacts anybody in that group.

Speaker 6 (57:56):
Dad, if that works, Davi, if that works, you're gonna
have to get like, get a hundred devices, go take
a cruise as a business trip, and you can you
can rent them out for the for the length of
the cruise as people come on the battle.

Speaker 8 (58:11):
I have thought about that, right before they get on
the cruise, having a little tent right next to where
they get on the cruise.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Yeah, you can do that or not, but I don't know.

Speaker 8 (58:20):
Or even at a port of entry, right, yeah, I
have to go to combo for a while and rent
out mestastic notes so they can communicate.

Speaker 1 (58:29):
While they're own right right. Yeah. Yeah, And even if
you land in the foreign country and you don't have
cell service, you have you haven't turned on cell service
with that foreign country. Whatever you and your wife are
traveling together, or a group of friends or something. Yeah,
mestastic totally, Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 7 (58:45):
I see Dave down on the dock right now, pulling
out his trench coat with a metic notes and yeah,
next next thing, you know, international incident.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
Yeah, we'll see, but.

Speaker 8 (59:03):
Well let me know because I'm I'm interested. Yeah, and
if you can create a separate group, and I'll probably
get a pair.

Speaker 7 (59:13):
How much are those radios?

Speaker 1 (59:15):
It's three ninety nine for a pair for a pair, okay, huh.
And you saved against save ten percent coupon code Ham
Radio two dot oh, so you get forty bucks off.
And then it's and then again in November, they're running
this free for life thing. So most and someone said
in the chat a minute ago, somebody said, yeah, most
of them have an annual fee. That is true, absolutely true.

(59:36):
The ones who tell you that they don't are lying
to you. This company doesn't do that. They say, no,
it's a fifty dollars annual fee. But for November. Everyone
they sign up in November they get lifetime, no annual fee.

Speaker 7 (59:47):
And do they have a prison edition a prison you
can get you can get an orange rubber cover for
it if that counts. Oh no, all clear, all clear.

Speaker 1 (59:57):
All clear. I don't think they have a clear one. No, no,
I don't think they have a clear one.

Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
And then they've gone.

Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
Yeah, I should start calling that the high school edition.
M Yeah, all the kids have to take.

Speaker 5 (01:00:13):
Clear backpacks to school now, you know, Jason, if you've
got this, check video one too.

Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
You could test to see if they're cross platform that's true.

Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
I might do that. I might.

Speaker 5 (01:00:23):
That would be good to know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Actually, yeah, I might do that.

Speaker 7 (01:00:25):
It's a good idea, and we could probably get Freddy
back to tie that into an All Star node somewhere.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
I don't know if I want to go down that road.
These guys who want to cross and then they want
to put uh So I did that video about interlinking
gm RS repeaters, and boy, people have a lot of
opinions about that. Some of them are good. Some of
them are like dude, what what planet are you from? Uh?
I like the ones that are like, well, they need
to put Zelo on it. I'm like, no, no, they

(01:00:54):
don't actually like go get your freaking GMR s lightsnse man,
Come on, what's wrong with you? I don't like tying
like Zello or crap like this into an All Star
or a linked repeater network where you've got to have
a license. I don't like that, but you can get
I mean You can use dv switch, a free app
on your phone if the All Star system has DV
switch enabled, which mine does, so you can do that.

(01:01:17):
You don't need a cellular device, just download the app
on your phone. But yeah, I don't know it needs
to be HAM Radio in my opinion, if you're going
to tie it into an All Star network. But you
know whatever, I mean, all Stars just a phone system. Yeah,
it's just an astrois. Yeah, but it is awesome.

Speaker 7 (01:01:41):
Oh it is.

Speaker 1 (01:01:44):
Forty five auto. I may be the only Ham that
doesn't like the clear radios. Yeah, you might be. You
might be.

Speaker 7 (01:01:49):
Well, there might be a reason for that, buddy. We
won't talk about it on the stream tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
Yeah, Tom, Tom, thank you for that question. Why am
I getting half sized ads? That's a new thing that
YouTube implemented a month ago, month and a half ago,
something like that. Ads that instead of stopping the video
the stream and playing an AD and coming back to
the live stream, it plays it on the side. Now,
so yes, I can turn that off for the stream.

(01:02:18):
And that's what I used to do, and I was
probably I'll probably start doing that again soon. I wanted
to see how it worked because it's a new ad system.
So I got an email from YouTube They're like try this.
I'm like, okay, I'll try it.

Speaker 6 (01:02:28):
But yeah, it's.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
I mean it's if I'm not mistaken, it splits the screen.
It puts the AD on one side of the screen,
but the ad is muted. You're still hearing the live stream,
so you can click on the app say oh that
looks cool. You can click on it if you want to,
or you can just skip it. But I don't think
I think the ad is muted. Now, after the live
stream ends, it'll be a regular ad like watching any
other YouTube video. But during the live I do yeah, yeah, yeah,

(01:02:57):
it's a nice cock.

Speaker 5 (01:02:58):
A couple subscribers that that don't have YouTube Premium that
they were getting ads during the stream that they couldn't
skip sometimes and when it would finish, they just missed
like one and a half minutes of the stream, like
it wasn't on the side. So I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
Well, okay, so this side thing is brand new. They
just started it.

Speaker 6 (01:03:16):
Oh okay, so used to.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
I was talking to Josh about this like a month ago.
Somebody was complaining about an ad on his and he's like,
I don't know what to do, and I'm like, dude,
I never I usually turn ads off on my live stream,
and when I end the live stream, I'll go back
into the settings to turn the ads on so that
nobody has to watch ads, because yes, it would stop
the stream, you know, take you off the stream, show
you an AD, bring you back to the stream, but

(01:03:39):
then you missed like the last minute and a half
or however long it was. So I never run ads
on my live stream because I'm not here to show
you guys ads. I'm I'm here to well that too. Yeah,
but no, yeah, I'm here to interact with the audience.
And okay, people are saying, no, it's not muted. Okay,

(01:04:00):
I thought it was muted because I was watching in
a live stream one time where that happened and it
with the ad was muted. Maybe that's a different setting
in there or something. I don't know. I'll have to
the ad mutes you, guys. Del Fergus said, okay, okay, uh, okay,
Well well okay, so it's something I was experimenting with.

(01:04:23):
I'm probably going to go back to turning off ads
completely during the live stream, and then once the live
stream ends, I'll turn it back on. So but good
to know. I'm glad you guys are giving me that feedback.
I do appreciate that. Brooks, thank you for the super chat, buddy.

Speaker 7 (01:04:35):
Appreciate when you turn them back on you're referring to
like the replay.

Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Yes. Yeah, once the live stream ends, I go in
and I turn monetization on.

Speaker 7 (01:04:44):
Okay, okay, That's typically.

Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
How I've done it for the last I don't know,
five years. I'll just when I set up the live stream,
I will turn monetization off, and then I do my
live stream, and when the live stream ends, I go
in edit the and a lot of time going to
edit the description and I'll share, like if we talked
about a link or a coupon or something, I'll go
put it in a description. Uh, but then I'll go

(01:05:06):
into monization turn it on after the live streams over.

Speaker 7 (01:05:09):
I guess I gotta have people watching by live streams
for that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah yeah. Once you grow up, you'll probably
get that problem too.

Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:05:21):
Sorry, Paul, okay, Paul.

Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
Question of the day did you can did you confirm
or did I dream or just make up? The story?
Is the Is the Tokyo ham Fair the same weekend
as Huntsville next year.

Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
No, we was in the discord when uh with Huntsville
being the fourth I think it's the fourth weekend, right
it is?

Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
It's late this year or next year. Yeah, it's later
than it normally is.

Speaker 5 (01:05:52):
The Tokyo Hamfair has always been the fourth weekend, so
I'm afraid they haven't posted the date yet.

Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
They haven't posted the date.

Speaker 6 (01:05:58):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:05:59):
I think it's gonna be the same fourth weekend. Ok
So unless there's some really big announcement. Oh yeah, I'll
just stay for Huntsville. There's no point brilliant going.

Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Right, right Okay? Okay?

Speaker 8 (01:06:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
I tried to look it up and I couldn't find
any dates for it either. And I'm like, well, what
is did Paul have confirmed dates? Because I know you're
over there all the time. I didn't know how that
was put.

Speaker 5 (01:06:19):
Together, but I was just going off they do it
the fourth week. I kind of went back and checked,
and it's the fourth weekend of every very August. So
I'm assuming they're not going to name to that for Huntsville.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
I doubted. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:06:30):
Well, actually I went back remember when we were talking
about that. The last two years, it's been the fourth
week maybe, and then wasn't it the third week on? Yeah,
so you know, like three or four yeah, before two
years ago.

Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
Well, we'll just have to wait and see. I don't
know what month they posted, hopefully in the next couple
of months.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
And I you know, I that might be a bad
thing for Huntsville because I comm and Yazu they're all
going to be in Tokyo. Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
You know, that's the they did debut a lot of
radios or announce a lot of radios during that Tokyo handfare.
So I'm not so sure that's a good idea for
hunts although it's probably knowing knowing the Hamfest guys, it's

(01:07:13):
probably something the venue gave them. It's probably not their
decision to move it to that date.

Speaker 5 (01:07:18):
Likely, I'm expecting an icon an ID what is it,
fifty two fifty copy perhaps next year at Tokyo.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Fingers crossed, Yeah, fingers crossed. Yeah. So well we'll see. Okay,
I didn't know if you had confirmed dates or not.
I didn't see your Okay, Well, let us know when
you do have that, if you don't mind, because we
got to figure out what's going on.

Speaker 7 (01:07:40):
With that, So what what weekend is the Huntsville this
year twenty six.

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
That sounds right. It's the fourth weekend of August. Usually
it's the third weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:07:50):
Of August seventeen, or the twenty second, twenty third, twenty
fourth or whatever it is.

Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Yeah, whatever that.

Speaker 5 (01:07:58):
I literally just put everything next year in my calendar.
It is the twenty second, twenty third.

Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
It's uh, it's him him Hempfest dot org is their website.

Speaker 5 (01:08:07):
So I mean, Tokyo. Could they could do the twenty
ninth and thirtieth the next week because there's five weekends,
so you don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:08:15):
I just want to make sure because I booked my
reservation already for my campsite next year.

Speaker 1 (01:08:19):
Okay, Ville, it's the twenties, it's the twenty second and
twenty you know what, I need to check that. I'm
sure I checked that before.

Speaker 8 (01:08:27):
Thank yeah, accord him right at the end and we
had had the dates. So whatever we think? So booked?

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Was I think?

Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
So?

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Yeah, yeah, I haven't.

Speaker 6 (01:08:38):
Booked Huntsville because I'm not sure if I'm gonna have
a camper or not.

Speaker 5 (01:08:41):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:08:42):
Well, you should book Huntsville. You should if there's any
they may be all gone by now totally. You should
totally reserve it, and you can you can cancel it
up to a week or two in advance for no
no cancelation penalty. But or you can probably sell it
to someone quite frankly, get on a live stream and say, Okay,
we're gonna take bids and just auction it offered ten
times what you paid for it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:03):
You there, you go, there, I have about is leaving
more with a trailer camper of some type.

Speaker 6 (01:09:11):
Nice, nice, very cool.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
Nice.

Speaker 7 (01:09:14):
Hey, you know it's the most favorite places in my backyard,
by the way.

Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
Yeah, well a lot of those places are in Indiana.

Speaker 7 (01:09:21):
Well, most of the up north, we're all there. This
is this is down south here in Columbus.

Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
Well, I'll tell you what, Tim, why don't you bring
me one of those to uh to Orlando in February. Okay, Okay,
bring me one of those. Yeah, I'll buy it. Just
I'll just just tell my wife that you brought it
and gave it to me.

Speaker 7 (01:09:41):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
So she's listening in the chat right ahead, right exactly.
I'm telling you right now, Kyle is doing a bang
up job with that with that new channel. The Hiker community.
They're almost like iPhone people are vegans. They're very but
they're nice, they're very they're a very tight knit committity.

(01:10:02):
There's a lot of really interested parties about the hiker.
They're really tight knit community out there. So you start
putting videos on YouTube about hiker trailers, you're gonna get
some some attention. Kyle has been doing really good on
his Square Drop Adventures trailer, so her channel, I should say.

Speaker 7 (01:10:19):
Some of the some of the cast of characters that
have come over and hung out at the campsite with
us at at the MORE expo, i'd agree.

Speaker 5 (01:10:27):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's one of the ones I'm
looking at since since last this last More when I
saw Kyle's nice and they're not too high a priced.

Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
See, And that's that's the that's the thing. They started
like sixteen. I mean, that's just a very very base model.

Speaker 5 (01:10:43):
You can get the lowest model for nine thousand with nothing.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
Is it that low?

Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
The last one is nine But the one that Kyle
has starts at sixteen and then you add stuff to Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
Right, right, that's what. Yeah, you're right, you're right.

Speaker 7 (01:10:55):
So they can get a little pricey. It just it's
depends on what what your lifestyle is. If you're if
you're going from structured campground to structured campground, you can
get away with with some of the you know, not
heavy duty ones, right. Uh, if you're if you're taking
it off off road at all and getting into any
kind of uneven terrain, you're gonna want something that's gonna

(01:11:18):
it's a little bit more durable, a little more sturdier,
and uh, you're gonna get into probably one like Kyle
has or they haven't. They have an off road version too.

Speaker 5 (01:11:26):
Yeah, but there's some what I would call tear drop sized,
kind of hiker sized campers. They're forty fifty, sixty thousand.

Speaker 6 (01:11:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Yeah, there's some of them that are ridiculously expensive. Yeah,
the hikers are. The hikers are not that way. And
from what I'm told, their customer service is fantastic too.
If you have a problem, you just call them up.
You talk to somebody on the phone and they're like, yeah, yeah,
well we'll take I mean, you may have to take
it back to them, but you know, it's it's one
of those things where it's there. They get really good
marks in the community and and I've been I told

(01:11:59):
my wife. I'm not joking, I'm kind of teasing her
sort of, but I'm like, if I were to buy
one of these to start making videos about, it would
probably pay for itself for the next next two or
three years. But she's like worrying.

Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
If you do a third channel or would you add it.

Speaker 1 (01:12:12):
To No, I'd put it on my unplug channel. My
unplug channel is about r V stuff. Yeah that's true, okay, yeah, yeah,
it's all about the the most watched videos on that
unplug channel about r vs. Okay, so I would totally
do an RV thing with a hiker playlist on that channel.

Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:12:28):
I think a lot of that, you know, uh, comes down.
You've you've got the larger r V. But although the
one you've got is not as as large, and that's bigger.
You look at the haul on, the weight around with
you and stuff like that. If it's just gonna be you,
is it worth taking that big, big, bigger even though
it's smaller camper. I mean, if you can cut your
weight in half there, Oh yeah, you know that that's

(01:12:49):
a that's a considerable savings and gas and getting it around.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
Absolutely absolutely, Yeah, I may go.

Speaker 5 (01:12:56):
I may go to more with another truck bed ten
like this year and come back with a hiker. We'll
see what they have.

Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Nice cool, good deal. Yeah, More is gonna be fun
this year. So I'm gonna email Chris probably the first
part of next year and get him to come back
on the channel and do another live stream with him.

Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
So I got that echo flow battery back up for
the house.

Speaker 7 (01:13:16):
M M.

Speaker 5 (01:13:18):
I still haven't seen a price as low as that.
It's at least two to three hundred lower than any
other low price on sale discount or anything. So you
can get good deals it more.

Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
Yeah yeah yeah, and didn't you you you were able
to parlay that into that Texas U tax free holiday too.

Speaker 6 (01:13:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
He actually gave me the additional the tax which was
lofty bucks or whatever it was, ninety bucks. Yeah, yeah,
I took that off too.

Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (01:13:44):
I don't know if it lines up this year. I
got to see when that is.

Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Uh, they've got the they started selling tickets. They actually
got dis kind of tickets on sale right now, or
they did last week. I think that's still going.

Speaker 7 (01:13:55):
Oh yeah, the early early bird.

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Yeah yeah, the yeah, the the double early bird. Let's
see if we go here's tickets available now for twenty
five bucks. Now it's just a show ticket. That's a
snut CA. Yeah, April seventeenth and eighteenth.

Speaker 6 (01:14:12):
Oh, then we do it is Texas State Parks again.

Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
So yeah, they've done that a couple of times. But
it's fun.

Speaker 5 (01:14:21):
I'll activate a Poda or something and get them right.

Speaker 7 (01:14:25):
Paul, you could probably phone it in. We could all
start down to Texas.

Speaker 6 (01:14:30):
I'll just give him a park Link radio and just keep.

Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
Me right right right. I actually I've never done Texas
State Parks. I've just always just done PODA.

Speaker 6 (01:14:39):
It's it's a club. It's been fun because we can.

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
If yeah, if your club does it, that'd be great.
It's it's a great Yeah, that'd be a great experience.
But yeah, but uh yeah, but I mean having a
the More exposed just fantastic. So it's just a great,
great time out there.

Speaker 7 (01:14:56):
Brandon Wentz asking if they were gonna be doing any
hand presentations or maybe you specifically done hand presentations at More.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
I am. I have done those in the past. I
did not do in this last year, but it's possible
I'll do it again. I haven't they have. They approached
me the several years in a row, but they did
not approach me last year, so I might, uh, I
might reach out to him. We'll see.

Speaker 7 (01:15:21):
Ham Rady was very well represented this past year.

Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
There was more right, there was a local ham radio
club that brought their MCom trailer up and set it
up and they had a good, good crowd coming through
there pretty much all day on Saturday. So was there, Yeah, yeah, yep.

Speaker 7 (01:15:39):
And they were actually in the kind of kind of
in the corner there, and Steve from Alpha Tennis had
his stuff set up too, and that in that same area,
and uh, a lot of foot traffic coming by.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
There and Steve, Steve's been there the last two years. Yes,
and uh, he's yeah, he's he's he's not that far.
He's only like two or three hours from there.

Speaker 6 (01:15:59):
He's in Missouri where SIXUS text free weekend is the
week before.

Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
Ah. Oh, well, m.

Speaker 6 (01:16:08):
I don't think a hiker trailer qualifies.

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Well, yeah, unless you find it regardless.

Speaker 7 (01:16:14):
Yeah, well why wouldn't it. Oh you're not.

Speaker 5 (01:16:17):
Well, there's a three thousand dollars limit even just on
backup in portable power. They have limits on stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:16:23):
Hmm, Okay, you need a good CPA.

Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
Paul I actually do man.

Speaker 6 (01:16:31):
I just yeah, it's a whole nother story.

Speaker 7 (01:16:35):
I bet, I bet Jason knows someone knows somebody.

Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
I tried to talk her into that. She's she's looking
at retiring soon. I was like, you should become a
content creator CPO there you go. And she's like, I
don't know how to do that. And I'm like, yeah,
you do. You've been doing it for ten years.

Speaker 5 (01:16:49):
You have like five or six of us immediately.

Speaker 1 (01:16:52):
Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. I mean she's like,
she's like, but what about it. I was like, look,
you don't have to know about answers, you know where
to look up everything. I think she could do it.
She's just she doesn't have that be your own boss mentality.
And that's fine, that's frine. Not everyone is built that way.
Some people really really want to do their own thing,

(01:17:12):
and some people really don't. That's okay, nothing wrong with
either one.

Speaker 6 (01:17:15):
It's just the thing. The thing I would be worried about. Right,
that's one of those things where if you give advice, right,
and somebody, you know, I could just imagine, right.

Speaker 1 (01:17:28):
She'd have to have Yeah, she'd have to have some
sort of Yeah, I don't know, if it's called malpractice
insurance but something like that. Yeah, right, Yeah, she'd have
to have something like that.

Speaker 6 (01:17:37):
But she have all those They have all those you know,
lawyer channels, so those guys get away with it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Mm hmmmm.

Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
Well, and also you can be just like even just
regular tax tax CPAs or whatever they're called. There's there's
some that are more conservative than others. So your risk
of you know, red flags or less or more depending
on the person and how non conservative they are with
youtions and such.

Speaker 7 (01:18:01):
Yeah, and he's not referring to politics people.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
No, No, I know, I know what you mean. It's
it's uh yeah. And she's she's always said, we've never
been audited. But she's always like, I'm not scared him
an audit because I've got all my Yeah, I've got
the balance sheet for everything.

Speaker 5 (01:18:14):
Yeah, I've got everything printed out. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:18:15):
She's like, I don't care. So, yeah, it's it's never
it's never been an issue in the past.

Speaker 5 (01:18:20):
But but my, my, my deductions, all the stuff I've
spent on because I used some from the end of
twenty twenty four as well for the channel, Uh, reduced
my taxes to where I didn't know really by a
couple of thousand. Yeah, oh wow, because I you know,
starting it up, I bought so much. There's so many
things that purchased, and then the trips and stuff like that. Right, yeah,

(01:18:43):
so it does help.

Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
Yeah yeah, yep.

Speaker 6 (01:18:46):
And you know.

Speaker 5 (01:18:47):
If I'm making money, they're going to tax me on it.
I am going to deduct every single thing.

Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
Not the wrong Yeah, I mean you're just playing the
game man, that's that's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, you
need to pay your fair share, Paul, come on.

Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
Yeah, so hit her, get her to do it.

Speaker 5 (01:19:01):
Yeah, you at least seven or eight Texas ham YouTubers.
I know it clients immediately.

Speaker 1 (01:19:07):
I mean maybe I'll try to talk around too, doing
it on small potatoes on say, just take like a
half dozen clients.

Speaker 5 (01:19:13):
Just start small.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
It starts guy. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
I tried. I tried to talk around. I was like,
you could totally do it. She could, she could absolutely
do it. It wouldn't be probably.

Speaker 5 (01:19:26):
That's what she's done. That's been her job.

Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
No, no, no, she's done.

Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
She does she does what's called mostly she does some
kind of like voodoo something I don't know, but she
does what's called like kind exchange. So basically, and there's
a lot more to it than this. This is very
very watered down the way I'm describing it. So when
you buy, let's say you bought let's see, you bought

(01:19:54):
a rental property, okay, and you had it for five years,
and then you went and sold it and you made
let's say you made fifty grand on your rental. We
bought it for this much, kept it for five years,
sold it. You made fifty grand, fifty grand more than
you paid for it, not counting like repairs and crap
that you did to it. But you sold it for
fifty grand more than you paid for it. So you

(01:20:14):
would have to pay capital gains tax on that fifty
thousand dollars, okay, but you could do You could hire
a mediator, and this is how we bought our house
in Galveston. You could hire a mediator and that fifty
thousand dollars goes into an account that you don't really
put your hands on, and then you use that fifty
grand to put a down payment on another house somewhere else,

(01:20:35):
or another investment property you don't pay any taxes on.
There's no taxes on it. And then you reinvest that
money into something like that. So it's called a like
kind exchange. You can't sell a house and buy a
you know, five thousand dollars suit or something like that.
It has to be like kind, right, but you can
you could. So we had a we had some duplexes.

(01:20:57):
She lived in a duplex when we started dating. And
she's like, well, I'm gonna sell it. We're gonna get married,
and I'm gonna sell. I'm like, no, you' you can sell.
We're gonna keep it and we're gonna rent it. And
we did, and we had it for probably i don't know,
seven eight, nine years something like that. When we sold it,
we had it paid off by them, and we sold
it for four times the amount she paid for it. God,

(01:21:19):
it was ridiculous. So so we took all that money
and we put that down and we'd like kind of
exchange it through a mediator and we put that. We
put like a fifty five percent down payment on our
Galveston house when we bought it seven years ago, so
we never had to pay capital gains tax on that
investment property. So but that's basically what she does, and
she does this on a corporate level she doesn't do
it for individual people like you and me. She does

(01:21:41):
it on for corporate like for different.

Speaker 5 (01:21:43):
So basically, you're just pushing your investments, increasing your investments,
and yeah, tax will be paid some other decade down
the road, right exactly.

Speaker 7 (01:21:50):
Yeah, this is how rich people get around the system.
So what they do is they own these these investments
and then they borrow against that investment and that's what
they used to to live on and never never pay
any tax at all. Oh, never paying come text, they
draw a small salary or whatever it is, something minimal.

Speaker 1 (01:22:09):
Ready to learn.

Speaker 5 (01:22:10):
Get her to learn how to do that, and then
we'll all sign up with it, right right, I don't
want to pay any tax.

Speaker 1 (01:22:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:22:16):
So how about those black Fridays sales?

Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
Yeah, we talked about those already. We're just talking now.
Run correct ten thirty one exchange, that's correct, it's a
ten thirty one exchange. So but yeah, but that's what
it is.

Speaker 5 (01:22:29):
I do got to get a new battery. So I'm
gonna look at the Ridotto site. You have a link, yeah,
just your code.

Speaker 1 (01:22:34):
I do have a link. Let me grab that for you.
I think that I I think that I think that
it counts if you use my code. But in case
in case not here, I'm gonna put this red Odo
link in the in the chat right now. That's my
affiliate link for dud.

Speaker 5 (01:22:53):
Or in my in my truck.

Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
Any of the Ridotto batteries, anything on their website, if
you use the code of ham Radio ten, you'll get
an extra ten percent discount from now to the end
of twenty twenty five. It's a special coupon code they
gave me to give you guys. So anything on the
Ridotto website.

Speaker 8 (01:23:14):
Tim, I'm looking for big and heated, preferably with Bluetooth
for the RV.

Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
Have they have heated batteries? Yeah, so heating batteries.

Speaker 7 (01:23:26):
Watch watch the batteries though, no, not not watch the
battery that didn't come out right, the heating and how
they they how they heat and when they heat. So
you're gonna want ones that are not heating unless it
unless they need it, not just based on temperature alone.

Speaker 8 (01:23:49):
So just looking right now. But yeah, I'll definitely poke around.

Speaker 6 (01:23:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:23:54):
So I have a three hundred dmpowered battery in the
back of the Bronco and it's it's like that it
will only heat when it needs to. Heat and have
strained the charge cycle.

Speaker 6 (01:24:03):
Okay mm hm.

Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
Yep.

Speaker 7 (01:24:09):
So it'll it'll, uh, if it's below the cutoff temperature,
it'll it'll start charging at at half volume until it
heats up, until it gets up to temperature, and then
then I'll go ahead, open up and take the full charge.

Speaker 6 (01:24:22):
Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I think that's how the the
better ones do it, I believe.

Speaker 8 (01:24:27):
So here's a question for you guys you might know
or not do I need a d C to d
C charger running lithium in the camper, because I've heard
and I've seen a lot of research that a large
lithium battery will actually because the resistance is lower on
a lithium battery as opposed to like an a GM battery,

(01:24:50):
it'll actually it could burn up your alternator when you're
going down the road.

Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
No, No, that's that's incorrect. I mean, is it possible
to do that?

Speaker 6 (01:25:00):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
Probably just don't buy a fly by Night Chinese brand,
get a Victron or get a red ARC system.

Speaker 6 (01:25:08):
Yeah, don't those have I mean you can you can
configure what type of battery you're connected.

Speaker 8 (01:25:16):
Yes, correct, Yes, again, the inverter charger in the RV
does you can tell it lithium, AGM, whatever it's. When
you're plugged in and you're going down the road, the
fifteen amp charge circuit that's in the seven pin plug
which normally charges your AGM battery as you're going down
the road, that if you put a lithium battery on,

(01:25:38):
it could burn up your alternator because the resistance is
lower on that lithium battery as opposed to an AGM,
So it's going to push more current faster into it
and wear and tear in your alternator. Now, I think
I don't need to worry about it because I'm not
not trying to dump a bunch of charge.

Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
What are you trying to do?

Speaker 8 (01:26:01):
Well, I want to throw a lithium battery in that
they ARV as soon as I get it right, in
fact as the main RV battery, the main RV battery.

Speaker 6 (01:26:08):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
So you've already got a charging circuit through the seventh
through the round seven pin connector right for your lights,
like every RV has, right. Okay, So.

Speaker 6 (01:26:21):
That's the circuit.

Speaker 8 (01:26:23):
That's the circuit the from what I understand, and I'm
still let me bounce back and forth a little bit
so if I want to deep charge, I know I
have to do a d C to d C charger.
Run it from the front of the truck. Because the
charging circuit in your truck is made for a GM
or UH that you know, regular batteries, and so it

(01:26:47):
the charge cycle that it does with charging the car.
The batteries in your truck is different than a lithium battery, right,
we all know that the voltages are different. And so
I feel one a deep charge a big battery going
down the road off my big, huge two hundred and
fifty amp alternator in the truck. Then you have to
do a DC to d C charger and that converts

(01:27:09):
the charging from your battery from your alternator in your
truck into a charging circuit that will charge lithium.

Speaker 5 (01:27:17):
What I have, Yes, yes, what I have.

Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
That's what I have in my truck. Go ahead, Okay.

Speaker 8 (01:27:21):
What I haven't figured out is just the fifteen amp
in your seven pin plug. Is that going to hurt
my alternator If that first battery, the battery that's sitting
there right behind the gas tanks, if that's a lithium battery.

Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
I don't I think it would hurt the battery before
it hurt your.

Speaker 7 (01:27:42):
Alternator and your BMS, which should control the input voltage.

Speaker 1 (01:27:48):
Yes, that's correct, so I so, okay. So I have
a four hundred and sixty amp hour battery in the
back of my truck with a DC to d C
red ARC charger connected to my alternator, and it is
there twenty four seven three sixty five.

Speaker 6 (01:28:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:28:01):
All it runs my radios, it runs my Internet, it
runs I'm about to hook up a whole lighting system
to it. It's it's there all the time. Okay. So
when I start the truck, it shoots a forty amp
charge into that battery, and when it tops off it
it's got it's a maintainer, so it tips it off.
But if I plug, if I go to the if
I go pick up my my RV and plug in
my seven pin, the battery in the battery in the

(01:28:27):
camper is getting charged through the seven pin. But I've
still got the second battery in the back of the
truck that's getting charged through the DCD z C charger,
and all of that's running off my alternator. Now I
did I did have to change my alternator last year?
I think it was. Is it Tucson Tucson Alternators, USA
made alternators, and I got like a two hundred and

(01:28:49):
fifty alternator. I think my original one is like one
hundred and fifty or something like that. But I had
like three hundred and twenty thousand miles in the truck,
So I don't think I burned up the alternator. I
think it was just time true, and so I mean,
you know it was uh yeah, I don't. I don't
think what from what you're describing, No, that's not going

(01:29:10):
to hurt your alternator. It might hurt your battery. But
I asked the t I asked t O that question
one night on my on my unplugged livestream. I was like, hey, look,
I want to put a lithium battery on my r
V so that when I plug in, but but when
I plug into shore power, I wanted to charge a
lithium battery. So so typically you would there's the unit
that charges the batteries behind the breaker box and your

(01:29:32):
RV so you can yeah, yeah, and and t O
is like, oh, don't even worry about it. I just
I don't even do that, Just just charge it. It's fine.
And I'm like, okay, So he said don't worry about it.
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:29:45):
Well, like so my mom's camper that I have, Now
you put a lithium battery on, it's going to burn
up the charger in the the RV. It's made specifically
for a GM.

Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Right, and I think most of them are. I think
most of them are. So I would I would, on
the side of caution and tade, trade out the charger
in the camper for lithium. Yes, but I don't think
that's going to have to I don't think that's going
to have anything to do with your alternator.

Speaker 8 (01:30:08):
On the new RV is going to have it Actually
is that it's a jumper you push or or move
on the back on the actual charge that changes it
from the lithium.

Speaker 7 (01:30:22):
Yeah. I have an epic power gate in the back
of the truck and it does that. It's a it's
a protection circuit that sits between the alternator and my
BMS and so that that will control the current draw
off the off the battery off the trucks battery an
alternator and then controls how much current is being handed

(01:30:44):
off to the to the battery itself. Uh it in general,
while I've got the radios running and the vehicle running.
I'm bringing in about five amps into the battery, so
it's nowhere near what that battery can handle. It an
input crime, right, the guy, I think it's good for

(01:31:06):
two hundred amps. Turnempresternam turn amps.

Speaker 5 (01:31:09):
You need to have a battery discussion on your unplugged
so I could watch it and learn all this stuff
because I gotta step down.

Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
We should do that. Are you gonna go live, Paul?

Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
Yeah, I'm gonna. I just talked about okay, next year's
ham faars and things that are going on next year.

Speaker 8 (01:31:21):
Now before you leave, thank you very much.

Speaker 5 (01:31:23):
Oh sweet, awesome?

Speaker 6 (01:31:25):
Looks nice?

Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
Uh, Share, Paul, share the link to your live stream.
We're about to shut this down. We've gone a little
bit too long anyway. Share the link to you. You've
got admin rights in my chat. Share the link to
your live stream, and we're gonna wind this down. Everyone
go watch Paul.

Speaker 5 (01:31:38):
We're just gonna talk about next year's events and things
and then get you to send me a win link email.
So you guys practice.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
Yes, nice, yes, do that? Send me a win link email.

Speaker 7 (01:31:48):
Also, I did download radio mail for the for the iPhone.

Speaker 6 (01:31:53):
Oh good, all right, guys.

Speaker 7 (01:31:54):
Just so no Gates, no, no, uh when when Gates
are in here?

Speaker 1 (01:31:58):
All right, see you, Paul, Thanks Paul, You guys, yep,
thank you Paul. All right, guys, we're gonna wind this
down the links and coupon codes to everything we talked
about tonight, which we talked about a lot of stuff,
but the Black Friday stuff's upcoming. I'm gonna have a
lot more Black Friday sales videos and live streams on

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
