(00:00):
All right, guys, welcome intoanother week of talking Lee County Trojan football.

(00:04):
So glad to have coach Dean Fabreeziojoining us as he does every week.
Coach, thanks so much for joiningus in a happy Labor Day holiday.
Well, thank you very much.Happy Labor Day holiday to you,
Phil And it's all your listeners outthere, and appreciate you guys having us
absolutely, Coach, we are alwaysloving inviting and including Lee County to the
party, so to speak. Andit's always fun, especially when we're talking

(00:28):
to you after a victory. Coach, big win over Lithius Springs this past
weekend. Yeah, it was.You know, we challenge our kids again
to come out with a good startand kind of put the game way early,
and that's what they did. Youknow, Corey Jarvis's veteran head coaches
one a phenomenal job at Lithius Springs. He's had a four straight playoff appearances
with that team, and so weknow certainly wasn't somebody we could take lightly.

(00:52):
And our kids came out handel businessright away pretty well. Absolutely,
And of course it's worth mentioning atwe had, of course, a huge
storm that rolled through almost confined,i'd say to the Valdosta area. But
I gotta ask, did you guyshave any effects from that at all?

(01:12):
You know, we get well, they canceled school and all activities, so
we weren't able to practice on Wednesday. But you know, in the grand
scheme of things, we just gotsome wind and rain. Certainly nothing like
they got in vald Austin some otherareas. You know, in our hearts
and our prayers go out all thoseaffected by the storm well, and yours
truly was one of them. ButI do appreciate that it was really really

(01:34):
bad, really bad. Unless youlive it, you don't really know.
But anyway, I just wanted toask, So no big deal there.
You guys came out fast, AndI think this is the key when you're
playing an opponent that well, they'rea good football team, but obviously you
guys have more talent and more depth. You're a better team. You're expected
to win. But sometimes we seeteams come out and kind of drag their

(01:56):
feet. But I think it's atestament to you your coaching staff, for
not allowing that to happen. Talkto us and telling our listeners, you
know, what's the approach going upagainst a team that you're heavily favored against,
and I know there's always hey,you can't take them lightly, that
kind of thing. But kids willbe kids, human beings will be human
beings. So what's the approaching theprocess of taking on a team like a

(02:19):
Lithiust Rings team. Well, Ireally believe having a consistent approach each and
every week to how you how youapproach the game, how you practice is
the key thing there. You know, if you're if you're you know,
you only practice hard or get upwith big teams, or you spend a
little extra time for the big games. That's that's one thing. But our
philosophies try to get better each week, try to get better each day,
and you know, we try tokeep things consistent, win or lose,

(02:43):
no matter how big the game is. Try to keep everything consistent during that
week practice and we think that servicewell. And you know, Friday night,
of course, we were Devin Collierreturns the opening kickoff our touchdown,
and that set the tone and wewere kind of all from there. Coach
I speaking of Devin, call youand you mentioned the fact that he took
the opening kickback. By the way, one of our top performers in this

(03:07):
week's Uh George Georgie Highskeo Football newsletter, and you guys can check out him
and all of the top performers thatwe have listed. I tell you,
Devin Call here is quickly becoming whatare we Week three just completed. He
is really becoming a force, atour de force, I'll say, uh,

(03:28):
and a one man wrecking crew.Again. I know a lot of
the attention gets put on his moneyand well deserved, but I'll tell you
you got you got your regular oldSwiss army knife kind of player, and
Devin call your coach, Well,Devin's committed to Georgia Southern University. They're
getting an excellent player. You know. Last year, of course, he
had a great year force both returningkicks, playing defense, and then he

(03:52):
had ten touchdowns offense running the ball. So he's really a dynamic player,
a great compliment to his money backthere running the ball on the back field.
And you know, him and thismoney are both bigger kids that are
unselfish and do a great job blockingfor each other as well when they're both
in at the same time. Andhe's a guy who plays you know,
a lot all of the field forus. Often when we philosophy wise,

(04:14):
we very rarely have played kids bothways here. But Devin's one who's seen
a lot of time on both sidesof the ball and on special teams as
well. So I want to wantto touch on that comment you just made
about not playing players on both sides. Is that something you prefer, because
I know I've seen teams with alot of depth but like to play players,
you know, on both sides,So obviously that's not something that sounds

(04:36):
like you favor. Now. Traditionallywe have not done that here, and
I just I believe that if youplay kids on just one side of the
ball and they can focus all theirattention on one side of the ball,
that that makes you a better team. And that's kind of always been our
philosophy here. I think that's oneof the reasons it helped us get a
lot of kids out because the opportunitiesto play. I think when you play

(04:58):
the level we're playing and to gothrough season, depth is such a big
factor, and you know, itjust wears on guys playing them on both
sides. So it's not something we'vedone very often. We have on occasion
done it, but for the mostpart, like I said, we try
to stay away from that because youknow, it's not only just the playing
ball sides of the preparation level, you know, during the week of practice
and how we structure things, youknow, they miss a lot of time

(05:19):
if you're trying to do that onone of the sides of the balls.
So that's the way we've we've doneit here over the years, and you
know it served as well. Certainlyeverybody's got different phlosophies, but that's one
that I think has really helped usout here in the years. Yeah,
no question, and certainly cannot arguewith the results for sure. We are
talking to Dean Fabrizio. It's theLee County Coaches Show as we visit with

(05:42):
the head coach of the Trojans everyweek here at ig next Georgia. So
we'll talk about Devin, but talkabout some of the other great performances that
allowed you guys to get out jumpon Lithia Springs and coast to a size
of a win. Well, youknow, it's Monty again, I think
yet it carries the he touchdowns onthe first half. He had another big
game West and Bryan threw some reallygood balls in the game and also ran

(06:05):
the ball well for US. Hada big night defensively. Corey McDowell had
his a third interception in two gamesand returned for a touchdown. Team Garman
had another big game for US,le Or Jackson, Jayden Corey, Devin
Jackson upfront all had big games defensively. We held the night to forty two
yards rushing, So a big gamethere, and uh, you know,

(06:26):
hopefully, hopefully it'll carry over asyou know, we got a big game
this week. Well and why don'twe uh segue right into that, coach,
so you get the big win againover over Lithia Springs. He talked,
we talked about that. But nowas the Lee County Football Twitter site

(06:47):
says, simply up next and thatis a big one coming up next for
sure, and we're here at iTG next talking about it. Coach doesn't
get any bigger better than Cowkwood Countyand Lee County. Well, it's gonna
be a big one, no doubt. You know, we've got to travel
over to Moultrie, which is obviouslymcdark Stadium, one of the great venues

(07:11):
and all of high school sports inthe state of Georgia, maybe the country.
It's gonna be a great atmosphere. You know, our fan base,
our community is excited. You knowwhat I think is right number two in
the state behind Buford in the topclass. They're obviously expected to compete for
a state title. Coach County anddoes a fantastic job there and his entire
staff. They've got playmakers all overthe field. You've got Landed Thomas at

(07:32):
the top rated tight end in thecountry. You've got Nye car A committed
to University of Georgia, and they'vegot a couple other receivers that are our
Division one commitments too, So they'vegot players all over other quarterback, you
go, man, excellent football player, you know, kind of like a
you know, almost compared mccayler Murray. I mean, he's not a real

(07:53):
big kid, but he's he's extremelyelusive as a runner. He's got tremendous
accuracy as a passer. He's socomposed he was back there in the pocket
and runs that offense so well. You know, they just have got,
you know, playmakers all over theplace. And you know, he tied
their quarterback being a three year starter. Kind of leads the show. They
played Dutch Fork, one of thetop teams in South Carolina that opened the
season, and that absolutely ran themout of the stadium. So it's a

(08:16):
big challenge for us, but youknow it's one we're excited about. We're
excited about this game, and youknow, we like playing big games,
and this game is you know, certainly as big and nonreads the game as
they come, and our kids areexcited about it. We got a great
practice this morning and and you knowwe're ready to ready, to ready to
take on the challenge here Friday Edifferent approach for this game compared to the

(08:39):
others. I mean, let's faceit, this is a you know,
this is a different team, it'sa different level of teams. So you
know, I know that it's youmight say, well, Phil, we
prepare for everybody just the same, but I think there's got to be maybe
a little extra umph because the guyswant this. But talk about that,

(09:00):
well, you know, again,we do the way we go through preparing
for a game, and our proceduresthroughout the week stay consistent. But there's
no doubt our kids and you know, our kids have heard about this.
They know what a big game itis. You know, we're kind of
unique in that because of where we'relocated and being bigger than the schools around
us, and the schools around usjust not wanting to play play Over the

(09:20):
years, as we've gotten better andbetter, you know, we really we
don't play a whole lot of biggames of people in close proximity. So
and the cult was you know, just a little over in the Multrie is
a little over an hour away.So this is one of the games you
know that we get that that's fairlyclose by, really close by South Georgia
standards in proximity and as a biggame. So there's no doubt our kids
have heard about it, they're excitedabout it. And we had to guard

(09:41):
against that last week because that's alleverybody was talking right right, But there
there's no doubt our kids they areexcited about the game. And uh and
there's there's there's a different little hometo them this week, without a doubt.
So and it's you know, ourkids will be ready Friday night.
I'm sure we're going to get youknow, Multree Polk County's best game.
You know, it's gonna be it'sgonna be a lot of fun there coach

(10:05):
this game, and of course sothere's you know, no looking back,
but worth obviously talking about it forcomparison's sake. You guys were toe to
toe with the pack last year.It was kind of back and back and
forth and tit for tat. Doyou think that that's usually a good approach.
Hey, if we can hang withand be with these guys, we

(10:28):
give ourselves a chance to win.Of course, I'm talking about being with
these hanging with these guys you knowthrough the first three quarters? Is that
like a strategy? I mean, you know what is kind of the goal
as you take it like quarter byquarter? Well, I mean, the
thing about it is they're so explosiveon offense and they do such a great
job on special teams in defense thatyou know, just like last year,

(10:50):
you know, they can have agame that's a close game and boom they
break it up and all of asudden they're up by three or four touchdowns.
You know, that's kind of whathappened to us last year. About
ten minutes left down by two,we get held on fourth down deep in
their territory and then boom they hita big play and then boom they get
a turnover and a score and thenboom and next thing, you know,
we've blinked and we're down three. You know, we're down big. And
uh, you know, went atwo point game to a you know,

(11:11):
a twenty point game and the blinkof an eye. So that's the thing
is, you know, they're soexplosive and in all phases of the game,
you've got to stay you can't letthe game get kind of out of
hand because once it once it getsa little bit and they get a lead
and they get that momentum role andespecially at home, it gets really tough.
So that's something we've got to do, is we've got to we've got

(11:31):
to keep the game in hand.We can't let things, uh, can't
let things get away from us.And can't make can't make mistakes. You
know, that's the biggest thing. You make mistake first these guys, and
you're gonna pay for it. Sowe've got to we've got to do a
great job across the board and playingsmart football, playing disciplined football, and
uh, and not losing focus. That's a big thing we talked about.

(11:52):
You know, it's not losing focusduring certain moments of the game. Because
you've got to have complete focused, you know, the whole game playing these
guys absolutely well. Coach, listen, thanks so much for joining us here
on Actually we are recording this onMonday, which is the holiday, so
we do appreciate you taking a fewminutes out of your holiday. Of course,

(12:13):
I think with high school football coaches, if there's a game to be
had, you know you're you're talkingfootball right well, you know, and
this is absolutely and of course thisis you know, you need to remember
this is your longest consistently running CoachesShow of the coach at the same school.
Here with it. You are correctthe Lee County here and in fact,
you know this will be the hundredthThis is thee hundredth straight week we've
been ranked in the top ten NoKid in the State and Phil Jones Show

(12:39):
and I have been there the wholeway from the start of the twenty sixteen
season, we have spent every weekranked in the top ten, usually in
the top top five for almost thatwhole in the top of almost that whole
time, but in the top tenfor one hundredth straight weeks. So that's
just an unbelievable accomplishment us being ableto do that. Hopefully we can we
can stay in there while longer, and that's top five or top ten,

(13:03):
top ten, top ten weeks intop ten to five, but one hundred
straight weeks in the top ten,and in fact, we're the only school
to do it all one hundred weeksin the top in the top two classes.
Of course Buford has I think thelongest streak or some three hundred weeks,
but you know a lot of thosewere spending lower level classes because they've
just moved into the top two classes, what four years ago, six years

(13:24):
ago, somewhere about four years ago, I think, so, so in
the top two classes, you know, we're the only school that's that's spent
one hundred straight weeks, So hopefullyknock on wood that doesn't exist, and
spend a while longer. But Ithink then, you know, that shows
the consistency of our program and whatgreat coaches we have had here, assistant
coaches, what great players we've hadhere, and also what great support we've

(13:45):
had from you know, our administrationand our community. To be able to
do that for such a long periodof time. Wow, Wow, I'm
just blown away, blowng away.Coach, not necessarily surprised, but that
is an incredible feat. You shouldbe proud, coach, and I know
you are. What an incredible record, guys, Dean Fabrizio as you just

(14:05):
heard him, one hundred what isit, one hundred straight weeks in the
top ten, in the top tenin either of the state's largest classifications.
Yep, on top two classes.Yep. Wow, so very very you
know that somebody brought that to myattention, and you know, obviously that's
something our kids, both players who'veplayed before and are playing now, should

(14:26):
be crowded. Coach, well, you should. Of course, you have
to manage and coach that talent, and you've done a great job. Coach.
I'm glad you brought that to ourattention. Certainly worthy of continuing to
mention it. And I know, obviously you guys take that positivity, that
momentum, that confidence into this gamecoming up Friday, it's going to be
at Macthorpe Stadium, home of thepack as to Lee County. Rather,

(14:50):
we'll go in and visit the cowQuick County Packers, and we will certainly
be watching. Coach, thanks somuch for checking in with us, Thanks
for bringing us up to speed onthat little factoid and we wish you all
the best to look Friday night, all right, appreciate you having me on,
Phil, Thank you coach, Byebye. How about that? Wow,

(15:13):
what an accomplishment, What a featthat is one hundred straight weeks.
Guys, that's phenomenal and we weare so glad to have Coach Nean Fabrizio
sharing his expertise, his insights, and of course all the things happening with
the Lee County Trojan football program everyweek right here on the Lee County Coaches

(15:35):
