Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, guys, welcome into another week of talking to
Lee County Trojan football. This is our opportunity to find
out what's going on with the Lee County Trojans, taking
you a little bit behind the scenes with the headman himself.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Is Dean Fabrizio checking in with us. Coach, How you doing.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I'm doing well, Phil, How are you, coach?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I'm doing great. Well. Here we are.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
We've gone through the twenty twenty three regular season, which
was absolutely crazy and super competitive, I thought. But coach,
before we talk about the playoffs, let me get your
take on, you know, this this regular season and kind
of recap that for us. Just your overall thoughts on

(00:41):
your team's performance. Was it kind of what you expected?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Are you? You know?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Obviously we you know, we're in the playoffs. We're hosting
the first round of the playoffs. We're one of the
top you know, five five six ranked teams in the state.
Got a really good football team. We lost two games.
Of course, we don't like to lose any but those
were the two really good football teams on the road
to call it is I think ranked second or third
of the highest class and the TCC, who's ranked second
in the game that you know, came down to inches

(01:06):
there at the end. Uh So, you know, a couple
of tough losses, but a couple. But you know, I
think one thing about it is this team is big
game ready. You know, we played four region champions this year.
Four different teams on our schedule won their region. So
really we've played a lot of good teams. We've had
to play some big games on the road, and I
just think this team's, uh, this team is ready for

(01:27):
the big game. And I think that's going to service
well in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
So.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I mean, you know, obviously you've you've been involved in
some big games, like you said, and yeah, probably more
so than any team that I.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Can recall this year.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Coach, I'm talking about, you know, on the big platform,
the big stage. Talk about what you think that does
for your team heading into the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
You can only help.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I would think it does a couple of things.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Number One, you know, you've got to raise your level
of play, you know, to go over a SEC competition
to when you've got to one as coaches prepare for
teams that are that well coached, and then two your
players have to play against those guys. It forces you
to raise your level to play. It points out any
areas of deficiency. You know, sometimes when you're playing inferior talent,

(02:15):
you can get by and get away with some things
and they go unnoticed, but it certainly gets pointed out
in efficiencies that you have to correct those games. And
then in playing in the atmospheres. You know, the more
big game atmospheres your kids can play in with the
large crowds and the noise and the just the passion
like that is the better because the more times they're
in that environment, the better they're going to handle it.

(02:36):
So we think all those things are going to service well. Uh,
going into the playoffs, and you don't want your first
big game to be in the third round or the semifinals.
You want you want to play big games where it's you.
We're not going to be in an atmosphere that's going
to be tougher to play in. And then playing the
game in Houston County, you're playing at color the DCC
game a couple of weeks ago. I mean those were
big time, loud atmospheres and I just don't think we're

(02:59):
going to be in any that are going to be
tougher than that. During this year to play it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
I got you, I got you. We're talking to Dean Fabrizio.
He's the head coach of the Lee County Trojans. He
joins us every week and right now we are talking
playoff football, and of course Lee County no stranger to
the playoffs now. Coach, obviously, I know with your program
and where you've got it to your aspirations are to
win a state championship.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Talk about when you look over.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
The competition and listen, I get it, not asking you
to go past the first round at all, but I'm
just talking about, you know, take yourself and your team
out of it. What do you see in this Class
six A in terms of you know, the competition, Well.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
It's a loaded Class six A. You know, one thing
the multiplier did was it pushed a lot of strong
teams up to the six A and seven A. So
you've really got a loaded six A and seven A.
You know, when you look at it, you start with
Langston Us, who is defending state champion, who's lost a
couple of times, but I understand they're getting healthy and
they're going to be a heck of a team. And
what a big matchup They've got Rome in the second round.

(04:01):
You've got Douglas County there, who we could potentially play
in the third round. Games will of course ranked number
one there Thomas County Central, and there's just several other
really really strong football teams out there, Roswell's and the
other one that's playing really good football. So you've got
a lot of teams that are are are state championship
caliber teams, and it's just going to come down to,
you know, who can play well at the right times,

(04:23):
who can withstand the tough games back to back in
the playoffs and come out on top.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Absolutely, all right, So let's talk about your first round opponent.
I believe you guys have got.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Dunwoodie, Dunwoodie and you know, going back, you know, our
last game of the season versus Tiff County, you know,
we got a lot of guys involved another games where
to play a lot of people. We had seven different
guys score touchdowns. You know, West and Bryant playing you know,
just over a half. It's thirteen to sixteen passing one
hundred and eighty three yards, two touchdowns, and he also
had a touchdown rushing, So you know, he just continues

(04:55):
to get better. Another really good game by West and
you know SMANI, we didn't have to use him a
whole lot, going played about a half. He had six
carries seventy three yards. He also had a touchdown reception.
And then you know, Devin Collier, what a game two
touchdowns rushing. You only carried four times, but at two
touchdowns rushing fifty three yards total, threw a touchdown pass
and then had ten tackles in a sack on defense.

(05:17):
So so an excellent all round game by Devin. And
you know a host of other guys. You know, a
Braxton Honer had six touches and three touchdowns. So we
had some guys really playing well and we're able to
get a lot of guys in the wall.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And that's got to make you feel good, coach, because
everybody's aware of number thirty two Superman. He's been called
a lot of things. Who's money, of course we're talking
about whose money, Cromel. That's got to make you feel
good when you can have a guy like a Devin
call you're whomever step up, Braxton Honor, like you mentioned,
step up and have such a big game because you're
probably going to have to call on those guys, because

(05:48):
I mean number thirty two can do it almost all
of it, but not quite everything.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Need some help. Everybody needs help.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, and I think that's the mission. We've got a
lot of good football players on this team and a
lot of threats offensively on his money. Obviously he's the headliner,
but there's we got several other guys that can do
good things with the ball in their hands, and that's
what service well going forward.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Absolutely talking to Dean Frombrizio, he's the head coach of
the Lee County Trojans. You are listening to the Lee
County Coaches Show. We get a lot of requests from you, guys,
what's the latest on Lee County football. We're proud to
bring it to you by way of our weekly Lee
County Coach the Show with Dean Fabrizio. And we're talking

(06:29):
about the playoff guys. So this is what it is
come down to. Only a few select teams are here
and ready to go. Coach, since we last spoke with
you as well, now I want to ask you about
the reclassification numbers came out.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
What's your take on that?

Speaker 1 (06:44):
What can you make of And of course I know
again your all your focus is on DUNWOODYE in that
first round playoff game, but I am going to ask
you to comment on what's going on with reclass.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Well, once again, we're in the second highest class. You know,
people were allowed to rescend in numbers, so kind of
waiting on that to shake out. We're actually kind of
in the lower end of the second highest class, not
too far from the third highest, so you know, but
it's I think it's gonna be pretty similar the teams
are in with There's gonna be a few changes here
or there, but again kind of waiting. You know, people

(07:15):
could appeal the numbers they sent in or send them
in if they're any mistakes. So we're going to kind
of see how that shakes out and then and then
go from there. But you know, it's gonna be pretty
similar for us as far as what division we're in
and what league. There'll be a few changes, but I
think a lot of the same teams will be in
with us.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I got you so again, I know that is for
concern on down the road, but not now. Your complete
focus again on DUNWOODYE in this first round. So do
you change things up when it comes to the playoffs.
I mean, is there a reset with you and your
team or is this simply week eleven or game eleven
or whatever.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Week it is.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
You know, and I know it sounds like coach people.
We try to keep things as similar as possible week
t weak. Obviously we make a few adjustments here and
there in the practice schedule, but for the most part,
we try to treat everything the same, win lose, no
matter of the game. And uh, but you know, I'd
be lying if I say the kids didn't know it
was playoff time, and they're certainly excited about it, and uh,
you know, ready for this opportunity. It's nice to be

(08:13):
having you know, the game at home for the first round,
in the first round. But yeah, we try to keep
it the same. But you know, the kids definitely know
it's playoff time, the community definitely knows it's playoff time,
and you know, it's uh it's you know, uh win
or go home, and uh, we're definitely aware of that.
But as far as our preparation, we try to keep
that as similar as possible.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Now, again not asking you to break out your crystal
ball and look into the future, but what will it
take it kind of just to explain to our listeners
out there, because I know a lot of people are kind.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Of confused a little bit.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
So obviously you'll play at home in this one because
you're the higher seed. Now what will it take to
keep you guys at home after this game? As simply
as you can explain that to.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Us, Well, we'll get the winner of the Effingham County
uh love Joy game. If Effingham County wins, we'll have
to go to them. If Effingham, if love Joy wins,
we'll get the second round at home. Obviously, Effingham County
is the higher seed and they are the favorite. But
you know that that's I think going to be a
real competitive game too good football teams. So there is
a chance we'd be at home in the second round,

(09:16):
but probably a little higher chance we're going to go
on the road. But you know we'll cross that bridge
next week.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
You know.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Right now, all our focus is on Dunwoody if you
know we you know Effingham County we went to in
the first round last year, So you know I can
break that. I travel like tener area out at least
I have that already done. They'll save me a few
minutes with that. We use the same one, but other
than that, you know, like I said, we know we're
gonna play whoever it is. Obviously we'd love to play

(09:40):
the second round at home, but you know, we know
we'll just have to see how that would shakes out.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
All right, Dean Fabrizio checking in with us. It's playoff time.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Coaches focused, super focused, laser focused, and of course ready
to go.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
So bring on Dunwoody and then we'll talk with.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Coach next week about what awakes next or who awaits next.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Coach, thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
Appreciate hopefull everybody comes out. You know, Donewood, he's got
a really good football team. They're eight and two. This
is the best season they've had probably in two decades. Uh,
you know, so we we know it's gonna be a
team that's playing with a lot of confidence, playing with
a lot of I guess you'd say emotion at this
point because they're having kind of one of those magical
seasons for them. So you know, we know we're gonna
get their best shot here Friday night.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Coach, thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Appreciate you, Phil, thank.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
You, thank you.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Well. Lit'ten know the leak any coaching show here on
