Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mamas, what do you think of the guy who cosplayed
as a Christian until he became one?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, let's ask our American mamas.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Mama, mama, mama.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Mama told me not to come.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
She said, that ain't the way to happen, no.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
And joining us now, our American Mamas, Terry Nedeville and
Kimberly Burleson. OK, y'all are both tearing up because you
just watched some of the videos of this. This is
a guy named Brian Guan, and he was an atheist.
And he says, you know what? I'm just going to
I'm going to pretend as if as if God was real.
And he says, I'm going to do four things every
day as part of this little experiment I'm doing to
(00:42):
pretend and see if pretending that I'm a Christian makes
me feel any better. I'm going to wake up, be grateful.
I'm going to pray. I'm going to read the Bible.
And then I'm going to try and apply what I've
learned in the Bible to my daily life. And by
day 20 of him doing this, atheist, by day 20
of it, he's in tears. He's crying. And he says,
Jesus is real. I'm giving my life to Jesus. He's
(01:04):
my Lord and Savior. I can't pretend anymore. He didn't
get through his 30-day challenge. He got through day 20.
What do you guys think?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
We will. You're right. We've been in tears over this
because when you watch the video, if you go to
his page on Instagram and you go through and watch
some of those days and you get to day 20
and you see everything just fall off, all of the
doubts fall away from him and he starts crying himself
(01:33):
and he's like, he's real bro. He's real dude. He's
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. And You can
feel it, just like I just got chills again, like
I did the first time I watched it. To see
somebody and be able to feel what they're feeling just
by watching them, that is Christ. And if we're ever
in need of a social contagion, this is the one.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
It's interesting you mention that because since day 20, there
have been at least three other atheists that I've seen
that have started posting on social media. Now, maybe they're
doing it for the clicks, because obviously this guy's following
went way up once he started saying he was doing
this cosplaying as a Christian. His following went up tenfold.
So maybe they were doing it for the clicks or whatever.
(02:17):
But you've got other atheists doing the same thing. They're
practicing gratitude. They are praying. They are reading verses in
the Bible, and they are going to try and apply
what they read in the Bible to their daily lives.
And they're recording themselves day by day going through this.
This Brian Guan, he talked about how he had battled
nicotine for 19 years. And since he started this, the feeling,
(02:40):
the desire to have nicotine just faded.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Off of him.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
I think one thing I like about this particular thing
and this guy is it's almost like fake it till
you make it. So even though this was a cosplay,
this was like an experiment, it tells everyone else everything.
Experiment the same way and see what happens. Most people
think I've got to ask Jesus to be in my life,
to take over my life. Like there's a certain you
(03:05):
think there's a certain thing that you have to do
in order to have this. But he's basically saying, don't
just start. Just start reading the Bible.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Just start.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Just pretend if you have to. And then you see
what happens. You are infected by the love of Jesus
and it will overwhelm your life.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Forever but it's scriptural seek and you will find he
may not have known that that's what he was doing
but he's saying i'm going to pretend that god's real
and i'm going to do what i'm supposed to do
as as if i was actually pursuing him yeah he
was seeking and by day 20 he found.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah exactly think about in history we've had so many
brilliant minded atheists who have sought to um go and
decry god and decry that this is even a real
thing they wanted to prove that it was all fake
right only to be converted into the most outstanding Christians
of our time.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
C.S.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Lewis.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Right.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Strobel.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
Lee Strobel. So Lee Strobel was a reporter for the
Chicago Times. He and his wife were an atheist, and
his wife started going to church, and he was like, oh,
I've got to break this or it's going to ruin
my marriage. So he decided, you know what, I'm going
to prove that Jesus wasn't real. He thought it would
take him a weekend. He spent months traveling all around
the country, talking to experts, talking to doctors, talking to historians,
(04:20):
and by the end of it, he was like, oh, no,
it is real. And his own pursuit, he was seeking,
and what he found was Jesus is real. He became
a Christian, and he wrote the book The Case for Christ,
which became the film The Case for Christ. But yes, again,
seek and you will find. I mean, give it a try.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
And just to see the difference on his face, on
his whole being from day one. Right. Mr. Cool, okay.
My yoga instructor told me to take a breath and
I'm just going to try this. I'm going to do it.
To day 20 when he just lets all the vulnerability
inside of him shine.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
He is such proof of what God can do in
just a little bit amount of time. If you seek him,
if you trust, if you have that faithfulness to just
stick with it. And see what God can do in
your life.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
That's another scripture. God rewards those who diligently seek him.
He did these four things every single day. And Christians,
this shouldn't just be atheists doing this. Christians should do this.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
It should be a good reminder.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Practice gratitude.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Right? Pray. Read the scriptures and apply the scriptures. You
do those four things. You are diligent in those four things.
God's going to reward you for that.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
I love it. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
