Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got a question for American Mamas. Dear Mamas, do
you think women today who are choosing to go childless
will one day regret it?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Well, let's ask our American Mamas. And joining us now.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Our American Mamas, Terry Nedeville and Kimberly Burleson. Now, y'all
both have three children. Um, and y'all don't regret any
of it, right?

Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Okay. But there are a lot of women that are,
are choosing to go childless. And the question is, is that,
is that going to be good for them longterm?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Well, this 36 year old actually posed that question on
the internet and went viral. She asked the question, she said,
I'm 36 years old. Will I regret staying child free?
So I went to the comments of course. And I
could not believe the number of people. I'd say the
majority were saying, you'll never regret it. You'd never want children.

(01:05):
Even people with children were telling her, no, don't do it.
Just don't do it. You don't want this. And that
she even responded, I'm shocked by this. I'm shocked at
the number of women. So I'm reading this and I'm thinking,
is this a jealousy thing that's at play? Are people
just I have a friend who doesn't have children. She's

(01:27):
made the choice to not have children, and yet she
never talks about it. She never brings it up. So
in my mind, I always thought about this with divorced couples.
When a divorced couple talks about their ex so much
and how much they hate them, I believe they still
love them.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
So when a mom, a childless mom, talks about not
having kids so much and rally, rally, rally, not having kids,
I believe they have regret.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
And they're masking it.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
They're masking it.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And why... Why do you suppose that they are encouraging
other people not to have children?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
I think misery loves company. It makes them feel better
about their own life, their own decisions. They feel better.
You said the question to me the other day. You said,
do you think Chelsea Handler is really happy?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Absolutely not.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Because she's one that touts that. All the time. She'll say, oh,
it's 1 o'clock in the afternoon, and I'm waking up
because I don't have children. I don't have to. I
thought you're missing out on the greatest gift God could
ever give you. I'm sad for her, but I really
don't understand why anybody would just press upon somebody not
to have children just because they don't.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Well, so Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just came out this last week
or so and said she's freezing her eggs.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
So that she might still have children later. She's 36.
She's running for re-election. She may end up running for Senate.
She may end up running for the presidency.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
She I guess she was engaged in that engagement fell apart.
But she's she's kind of the icon, really, of what
a lot of these these young ladies who are childless
are like, hey, look, if I don't have kids, maybe
I could go become this rich and powerful member of
Congress or senator or maybe even president. But kids would

(03:09):
hold me back from that.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
And I wonder, at the end of her life, let's
say that she has chosen not to have children. And
I'm sure some people are happy like that. They're happy
with their spouse. But I wonder, at the end of
your life, when you're in the bed and maybe you
have friends, maybe, that are still left to come around
your bed, do you start thinking... oh, I think I
missed out on something because where are the children? Where

(03:31):
are the people that love you the most, your spouse
and your children? I always think about Chelsea Handler because
she's a single woman with no children. So she depends
on her friends for her happiness and she hops from
bed to bed apparently. And she's got a lot of.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Very famous friends. I mean, Jennifer Aniston's a great friend
of hers and she's got other celebrity friends.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah. And that's fine if that's her choice to live
like that. But to try to get others to live
Like that.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
That's the part I don't understand about this.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
I don't get it.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
I get it if you're making a life choice.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Because I wouldn't push Chelsea to get married and have children.
Just because it worked for me so well. So why
this big push?

Speaker 4 (04:06):
That's what I don't get.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
It's so strange.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
It is strange.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
But I guess there is this, I keep coming back
to a lot of this, folks on the left, I
really think they have a very messed up relationship with
a lot of their family members because they keep wanting
government to be their family.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
And if you have kids, government's not your family. You
don't have to rely on your government. You've got family, right?
But if we're encouraging people not to have kids, then
doesn't government become your family at that point?

Speaker 4 (04:35):
I think you're absolutely right because there's power in family traditions.
There's power in unconditional love. There's power in the bond
with a child. And that child becomes your priority for
your life. And you'll do anything to protect that over
what anyone else says, whatever government or anybody else, that becomes,
that family becomes everything. And so we have all seen

(04:58):
that there's a threat to that. There's a threat towards
family values. There's a threat towards Christianity. And so I
think it's all these people trying to disrupt it as
much as possible.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
And I'm just going to say for anybody that's wondering
about this, I think the One of the best examples
I've ever seen of why you should have family is
the Spinks sisters. Y'all's family is amazing. And not just
you and just the two of you, your sister, Lindsay,

(05:30):
their kids, generations before you, generations after you, the fourth
of you've never seen the 4th of July at Terry's
house when the entire family is there and the connectivity
and the, you guys show up for people in a
way that, man, if you've never had family, you want that.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Well, thank you. It's been passed down.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Right. And that's the whole point because your kids are
going to continue that tradition too because it's been passed down.
Through what? Through family.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
