Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got a question for American mamas. Dear mamas, why
is road rage on the rise?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You know what, Let's ask our American mamas. Mamma, she said,
and joining us.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Now our American mamas turn Ediville and Kimberly bur listen.
I was not aware that road rage was on the rise.
I I remember back in you know, in the nineteen
eighties and the shootings on the freeways in California and
all this. There's a comedian named Jake Johansson who I
thought really summed it up. He said, if you have
to shoot somebody on the freeway, that's just poor gun handling,
Like if you just show them the gun, they'll let

(00:40):
you merge. I thought that was a funny take on it.
But I w wasn't realized road rage is back up
on the rise here in the US.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Well, I think that you probably aren't seeing it as
much in Louisiana as we're seeing it in Texas. I
live where our neighborhood backs up to I twenty, and
it's insanity. It's just gotten worse and worse, just the blowout,
the gunshots, the racing. I mean, you hear it all.
But there's also been several shootings that have taken place

(01:08):
right around where we live, one of them being my child,
Stone's little league coach shot in a road rage incident
like years ago. So the other day, so I'm just
seeing an uptick because I happened to live right where
so much is happening. I'm coming out of a neighborhood
the other day in this ninety thousand dollars truck. I
had the right away. I turn, but he's coming towards me,

(01:30):
and I just throw my hands up, like wait. You know,
in my head I'm saying wait, I'm not saying anything more.
I'm not. He speeds up to get right next to me,
almost bumping me, rolls this window down.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Blips me off.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
He's screaming at me. And this is like a handsome
young man like in his forties screaming at me. I
was absolutely traumatized.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
I went one way, he went the other. But I thought,
how did that make him go from zero to one
hundred in less than two seconds. It's like, I feel
like people are just so ready to flip out all
the time. And I'm always saying stuff to my kids,
you know, like Mike, because Stone said that being in

(02:13):
a vehicle gives you the same confidence as an anonymous
social media person.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
You know, any I'm the only one in the car,
nobody can see me.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Nobody can see me. And so I think it's people
are real quick to anger. They're quick to show their emotion,
and the problem is you don't know who's on the
other side, who where they are mentally.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I had a.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Director I was working with a long time ago, and
he was telling me this story, said, the last time
I ever got road ragie. He was on the freeway.
A car cut him off, and he chased the car
down to the exit. And when he pulls off in
the exit comes with the stop sign, and he pulls
up right next to the car that was at the
stop sign, and he gives him the double barrel like

(02:53):
you know, both hands, both middle fingers and looks. And
the guy in the other car was the pastor at
his church. Oh no way, he said, I could never
go back to that church.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Oh I never went back.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
I never talked to him again. But that was the
last time he was ever a road rage.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
It was a lesson because he was out of control
and it was So that's a good point.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
How many people would chill out if they knew if
you know the person that the person in the other
car is like your neighbor, your a good friend, your
church member. That is so like, that's how people should
think when they drive. I'm oblivious, so I don't know
when people hate me on the road, you know, unless they,
you know, just are out there.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
I'm just tending to just you know.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
But you know, when Kevin drives, sometimes he'll get so
frustrated at other drivers and like if they come off
or whatever, you know, And one time he got real close.
I was like, what really, really, you know, they like
teach him a lesson, like you can't do that. But
I remember one time Kimberly when that guy did his
hand like this.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Oh yeah, he did like a gun.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
With like he's like he's gonna shoot her. And she
said it just absolutely terrified her. And and I think
in today's in our world right now, I think everybody's
on edge. I think our country has gotten all of
us on edge. I think we don't nobody knows what's
gonna happen anymore. We don't trust anything, we don't trust
those in power, and so I think people are just

(04:22):
on edge and we need a reprieve. We need people
to just be that calm, you know, drive like a
bunch of grannies.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
You know what I will. It's because I do have
some advice for drivers. If you want to keep people
from hating you, do not drive in the passing lane.
And what that will send people through the roof with resk.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
My sister.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
When we drive to Florida, it's just like, get in
out of out of the passing lane. But I'm going fast.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeadn't care.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
It doesn't matter. It's not that you're going fast. You
have to be passing somebody. It's not the flow of
traffic doesn't pertain to the left side.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
But if I see a bunch on the right who
are going slower, and I see like, okay, six cars ahead,
I don't want to be behind these. I'm going to
stay in my lane until I get in that Bruce, Yes,
thank you, but I have to hear her get.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Over a little, grace a little that might be your pastor.
