Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got a question for American mama's.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Dear mama's, what do you think of these sorority girl
videos on TikTok?

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Well, let's ask our American mamas.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Alma Mama.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
And enjoining us now are American mama Terryntderville?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Okay, I can honestly say these have not come.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Up on my feed.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh really, I have seen articles written about these videos,
but they aren't coming up on my Instagram.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
So I guess that's a good thing.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Right, I guess yeah, your algorithm.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
If my algorithm doesn't think that me and my fifties
should be watching videos of sorority girls dancing around.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
Well, I'm curious to know about what the articles say.
I will.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I will say personally, you know, it's been fun to
watch these sororities, but each year like this is like
the second.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Year that's really gotten like over the top, yea the top.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
And when I when the reels come through, I can
tell the girls that I'm like, oh yeah, that's who
I'd want to be friends with, or.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
These are the ones.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
But the ones that kind of make me cringe out
a little bit is when they're trying so hard to
be too sexy and like solid gold dancers.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Like I like the fun. I know that's back to
the eighties, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
But you know the ones where you know, or if
they do the skit and uh, the girls will come
out and they fling their hair around like.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Their pole dancers. You know they're doing all of that.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
I cringe a little bit because it's supposed to be like, no,
we're fun, you know, it's supposed to be like a
fun sisterhood. So but but the majority of them are precious.
It's just a lot of work. I would totally be
in the background because I'm not a good dancer. Kimberly
would be the choreographer because she is so good.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
At that, but she would not be front and center
in the video.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
No, she would be the one like teaching them the
dance behind the camera, but she I don't think.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
She would do the whole The whole thing is too much. Yeah,
But at the same time, if you watch that kind
of thing in the movies, the girls are ultra sexy
in movies when they talk about sorority girls. Right, But
I guess when I'm thinking about when we were in
the eighties, we were just like we just had fun.
It was just a lot of you know, just fun silly.

(02:19):
It wasn't this like I'm going to know, you know,
sway my hair around and you know, twerk on camera.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Well, and then from from that, I'm kind of trying
to figure out all right, because I always think about
when you're when you're putting out a message, Yeah, who
are you putting the message out to you? And what
is it you want them to get out of the message. Yeah,
that's just kind of my my my broadcast background. So
we're putting on a message and we're all super sexy
and we're twerking, and we're pull dancing, and we're spending

(02:47):
our hair. Who is it you're trying to get to
join the sorority? Because the people who will be most
attracted to that video are the frat boys.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
That's right, that's what it's for, and they're not allowed
to join.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
It's for that and clicks. Every thing that they're doing,
they're doing so that they.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Can go viral.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
It's not really I mean, it is for the girls
that are coming through Rush, but it's actually for the
bigger audience of the world. They want to be the
ones to have the most clicks, and you know, the
most views and all of that, and I understand that,
but I just wish that some of it for their sake.
I wish it wasn't so cringey. Then you see the
girls that were you're like, oh.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
No, oh no, like there there's it's almost too like immature.
And they might have just a few girls, you know,
and you're like, oh, oh, dear, yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh, they're trying to be like the super sexy, but
they don't quite hit right and they're just not enough
in the story to pull it off.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
So now you've got a cringe.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
You watch it like under the covers like no, no, no, no,
no no, just like you know, I don't know, like
do a baking section, I don't know, or do it
do some sort of cheer cheerleading thing. But the sexy
dancing is a little a little much.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
But maybe that's what. Maybe that's whatever I like.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
So then what is it the ones that you go, Okay,
I like these girls, yeah, what is it the ones
that because you know, again I think that that's part
of what their their objectives should be on these videos
is we want people to want to join our sorority, right,
So what is it that you think.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Would be successful in those kind of videos.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Videos I love the most, yeah, are the ones where
somebody has put a soundtrack behind clips of them having
fun together, like during rush week. You know, you're getting
ready and you're all like, you know, just dazzing around together.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
More natural.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
It's like a montage of maybe three days and you're
catching a glimpse of different moments between girls as they
get ready for rush week, right, and somebody's put a
really fun song behind it, so you get to a
true sense of what their sisterhood is. Those are the
ones I'm the most drawn to.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
So that's that's more than you know, just the natural
moments you're picking.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
You're picking the highlights of the natural moments obviously, yea, yeah,
I mean you can't be on twenty four to seven, right,
but you're picking the highlights of the natural moment, and
then you're putting nice music by it.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Or if they do a choreography type thing, if it's funny,
if they're not trying to be sexy and they have
like you know, they'll have like green wigs and they're
trying to go with their sorority colors or whatever, and
they do a fun dance.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
I love that it's the ones that are like you.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Know, and yeah, I guess the question is ultimately, which
which is more successful?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I think that's kind of interesting.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Too, well, and what what is success to them? Would
successful be getting the girls you want, the type of girls,
or would it be getting the.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Guys you want to track? Or the views? Like what
is it most important? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:43):
And that and that probably does to find how they
approach it. If you like to ask our American Mama
is a question good.

Speaker 2 (05:48):

Speaker 1 (05:51):
