(00:21):
Ever, we want to welcome anothermemorable USA podcast where we put you on
the mascissist. Ron Costa Broadcasting livesfrom the Mappable USA Studios arey in Las
Vegas, Nevada, and folks.Today we're going to talk about two keywords,
basically impact earned. So before wedo that, let's introduce Vickyla from
the World Token Market Victory. Howyou doing today? I'm fabulous, Ron,
(00:45):
I'm fabulous, although I must saywhen we live in Vegas and the
temperature goes into the forties, wekind of panic and rush out and buy
mittens and hats and scarfs and coatsand don't know how to handle it.
But that's okay because today we've gotone excellent guest. We've had Eric on
our podcast before, but we're goingto find out how he's grown and expanded
(01:10):
and become even better than he was. So let's get started. Let's get
started. Let's introduced Eric Schner.Eric is the CEO of Zelop and Eric,
how are you doing today? I'mdoing very well. We're also facing
a bit of cold, probably evencolder. You're spoken very night of forty
(01:33):
doesn't ring a bell for me,but here is minus two. And it
was quite funny because Vilia starts tospeak, I'm basing truants at the moment,
and and then I say, oh, the winter, it's it's a
it's very cold and so on,but it's very normal. It looks like
with the global warming, people forgetthat winter is cold. And he used
(01:53):
to be colder than the colder thatthat's in my area. We can normally,
yeah, I used to with thisminus fifteen. I don't know how
it's translated in faverneit but minus twois nothing for this time of the year,
and people stentify that. The mediajust making a big story, say
(02:15):
oh my god, it's well whenit goes down to twenty nine in Vegas,
then I don't know what you callthat, but cold, it's not
normal. Well, there's no suchthing as global warming in the winter,
seeing, that's for sure. Butwhere are you? Where are you calling
(02:35):
in from? I know you're overseas. Yeah, yeah, I'm I'm cutting
from east of Friends at the moment, the German on the German border.
It's it's nice to take podcasting Uworldwide. We're a global podcast right now,
(02:57):
Erica, thanks thanks to you,and and like like you said we
had you want the show before. It was a really great podcast. Let's
let's uh uh talk to really toour viewers about your background again in case
they missed the last one. I'lltell us a little bit about yourself and
how you got into zero. Mmhmm sure sure so well, I come
from the packaging industry. I workwith many hells in uh in a company
(03:22):
that supply uh uh bought the packaginglines for for beverage in bottles and blessing
bottles or in cans or in inglass and and then I did a big
change from corporate life to to theentrepreneur life a couple of years ago after
(03:47):
I invested in in a startup thatI developed blockschain reward engine that was initially
designed to to support social impact projects. And then in my industry, I
could see the growing concern about ofplastic pollution that is linked to more human
(04:09):
pollution. Plastic has no no foodto to to work. But that is
the thing we we we are usinga lot plastic and we also unfortunately disposed
of not properly ends up in natureand so on, and we we start
to have a niche on that. And so we we had the idea to
(04:31):
to to use that rewarded gine toto adapt that for environmental impact. And
that's how the Loop was born, basically with the division that we can be
part of the solution. We're notgoing to fix everything, but we want
to be part of that solution.Uh. And and it's the problem is
(04:56):
so large and not only plastic nolittering is uh, it's a human disease
and it's worldwide. And uh,we can just sit down and do nothing.
How we can start to think abouthow what we can do as individual
what we can do as companies andso we we we forget that it was
a great idea to put on energyon it and angle on that. And
(05:21):
you have a different spin on recyclingof plastics and letter that rewards people for
picking up trash. Explain that tous how that works and and what that
involves. Yeah, uh so whenthey so we have our reworld engine has
(05:44):
been designed to serve as a platformand and to demonstrate the capability, we
have developed our own app with thesame name as the Loop. And in
the app, people can Leida bringplastic bottles that they have picked up from
the wild, from nature. Unfortunatelyfrom their neighbors, from their friends or
(06:06):
for their from their own consumption, and then deposit that at a point of
collection that are crowd sourced mapped bythe community, so any existing infrastructure we
don't collect by yourself in that case, and then they can also there may
be in areas where there is noplastic borders or in areas there is no
(06:30):
infrastructure to deposit plastic bottles, butunfortunately, wherever you go there is litter,
so there's always a possibility to actfor the planet. So it's just
simple using the app, you selectduration a fifteen minutes, an hour,
one hour, go for a walk, put your phone in, start the
(06:51):
session, put your phone in yourpocket, and start to collect trash,
any trash that not only plastic borders, because you know, any trash that
that can be extracted from from natureis a good gesture, so it's valid
So you pick up any trash. At the end of the session, just
(07:13):
take a picture of the trash toto validate decision. And then we reward
people on the steps that they haveperformed during the session. Because it is
your way to to you know,to to to calculate or to count bottles.
We can count the bottles, stepsa nice common unit when you when
(07:38):
you collect trash and so how doesit work? So can I, uh
go on a walk here in Vegas, pick up some trash that I see
when I'm working, take a photoof it, and then I can redeem
rewards for that even though I'm inthere, I guess and you're in UH
(08:03):
brands absolutely absolutely so when you havedownloaded the app, automatically we are reward
Engine has created blockchain wallets, soyou don't need to be tech savvy about
how it works about blockchain and soon. The wallet is automatically created.
All you have to do is tostart a session. So you go on
(08:24):
the map, you say, okay, start a plugging sessions, you sell
it the duration and off you go. You just have to collect and at
the end of the session you areasked to take a picture of the trust
that we have collected. We're notgoing to check, you know, to
count whether there's two cigarette baths orone plastic wrap paper wrap or a plastic
(08:46):
bottle and so on. It's justwe see trash in the bag that shows
that you have collected and UH andthen we validate the session UH and then
automatically we calculate we have recorded thenumber of steps that you have performed,
and then you get zero point fivea career words per step and those the
(09:07):
career was the toy token of theecosystem I credited to your wallet, and
then after you can use those thecareer was by trading them. And last
time we talked it was not readyyet, but now you can send you
a career was from the wallet nearto your private wallet, and then after
(09:30):
you can trade it against us orand digital or we have some vendors that
give even greater benefits as a processingpower that gives discount vrtures on their product.
Oh oh, so how do youdetermine if I take the photo I
collected whatever I collected and taken aphoto, put it on the app and
(09:56):
that how do you determine how manyrewards I get and what are the value
of those rewards? So very simple. Four bottles on the bottles floor.
We give a hundred decore rewards perbottle and you take a picture of the
(10:16):
bottles. So if you have fivebottles, you take a picture, you
declare that is five bottles, andwe re check with machine learning that you
have five bottles indeed on the pictureand then automatically you get five hundred decory
words. You can also declare bulkdeposit. You know, let's say you
have a big bag is full ofof bottles, and then you use the
(10:39):
I Feel lucky function. There isa manual visual control UH, and then
we do mechan estimates, so itcan be a bit more than what it's
really is a low lower, butwe we estimate and it's why you may
be luckier less lucky. And forthe plugging we recalled it's why you you
(11:01):
you registered to a session, werecord the starting point of decision. You
walk, so we can your phoneall the phone the nowadays smartphones will record
your steps, so we just haveaccess to your to your health data of
the phone. As I see that, the user has to prove find uh.
And then at the end of thesession we can we know how many
(11:24):
steps you have, you have youhave done? Oh, okay, that's
count easy. Yeah, it's avery easy. It's it sounds easy.
But I have a couple of questionson that. Or one is when you
take the picture of the bottles orwhatever it is you're going to do,
UH, that picture has to beverified somehow right, it doesn't. It's
(11:45):
just an a matching process there thatgoes on at I don't know that corporate
level or some kind of thing thatjust verifies the fact that its uh,
it's it's it goes to it goesto our to all that days and then
we did different case. We havemachine learning, and we have a manual
manual checking, you know, becausesometimes the the feature will be rejected or
(12:13):
is not clear enough, and thenwe need the human being to to check
right. Right. It's amazing whatthe technology can do on this, I
know with AI and everything else that'sgoing on. Uh, the the ability
for these computers to just verify imagesand everything is really really fantastic. I
know there's a lot of that goingon in the wine and the beer industry
(12:33):
as well, where they can Iscan the label and they know exactly what
it is. So I guess it'sthe same kind of thing. But you
know, another question I had wasregarding the wallet that you mentioned before.
Uh that I mean, there arethere are tons of wallets out there right
at this point, Uh, doyou need a specific wine or does zeroop
have their own wallet? It's it'screated, it's it's we have our own
(12:54):
wallets, our own blocka and wallet. It's automatically. It's it's really the
call taken that we have developed. We wanted to make it very easy for
people. We talk about Blockshain,we talk about the web three. But
if you look at many projects andone, the adoption is difficult because you
have too many frictions. You know, you have to to get the code,
(13:18):
you have to forget things, youdon't know where to talk to when
you have a problem, and soon. Here it's just download the app,
the wallet is created. That's it. You don't don't see that is
the blockchain wallet, and so on. It's it's the reality behind as it's
a fourth layer behind the apps. You know, you have the back end,
(13:39):
and that back end is connected tothe wallet that has been created.
And every time that we've validate totransaction, whether it's earning a career wards
or spending within Ach rewards or sellingcoreer wards, the reward Agine takes care
of that translation transaction. The onlyspaceific case where the user will need to
(14:03):
create his own wallet is when whenyou want to trade those echoreers. In
that case, you have to sendthe Corey worlds that are in in your
wallet in the app where and webasically have the custody of that wallet.
You have access and control of thatwallet, but we you know, we
(14:24):
have the we we host that wallet. It's on the BLOCKA and and so
on, but we have control ofthat access. You can just tweak it
and so on. And as nowyou use the the coreys within the app,
you don't really need to have moreaccent than that. But if you
want to put to own the tokenin your private wallet, then obviously you
(14:48):
need them to be a bit moretextally as is to know what is a
wallet. But then you you doa wallet in MetaMask for instance, and
then you connect, you create yourown You just have to share your your
public address from your metal mask inthe app, and then we send the
token to your to your private walletand then from there to trade right right
(15:13):
from the exchange where we are listed. That's one of the issues that I'm
seeing in this whole blotching industry.I think I think people are very confused
about what their wality is or whatit can do, how secure it is,
how cackable it may be. AndI think that there's people will bit
of pause on this. But itsounds like when when you build the right
into the app like that, it'spretty easy to use. So that's I
(15:35):
guess that's that's all right, Yeah, and uh we do. I mean
blockchain can attract some people, thenwe're happy to get you know, those
young profile and so on that alreadyuse blockchain wallets and cryptos and so on.
And if they if they are attractedby that that purpole value proposition and
(15:58):
start to good for the planet,we're happy to have them joining joining the
movement. But we we also knowthat probably about ten percent of the people
using the app. The other ninetypercent, uh, I don't know yet
they have heard maybe about block chain, or at least they have about bitcoin,
(16:21):
but it can be scary and soon, and it's not what we
do. We are not it's nota big coin. It's a util okay.
So for those who are not knowledgeableor they don't need that, you
know, to understand that it's blockchain, that just see that they have a
point and that point has a valuethat they can read em and so on,
(16:42):
so we we can it fits fitsfor all. For us, what
is important is that we make animpact with the community and again with with
the war too. I say,if you download the app, that could
be done anywhere in the world, right, it could be done absolutely,
Argentinea, you know wherever. Right. But but but can you trade those
(17:04):
tokens anywhere in the world as well? And you have to be a certation,
No, you can't trade it.We were the token is is his
lifted on on on several exchange toto centralize the top top guy and and
I T dot com and then weare also we have also liquidity pool on
(17:26):
the pancakesp so that any any decentralizedso you can access from anywhere in the
world. Is where also we havethat that dual system where the wallet in
the app and the private wallet becausethere may be some regulation that its specific
(17:48):
regulation in some countries that we wewe we don't become control. You know,
with the worldwide app, we cancheck the hundred eighty countries or I
don't know, I mean countries wehave, but we could check. We
can't check the regulation and it willchange all the time and so on.
But you know, as an example, China has the regulation that for bid
people to own BLOCKSHD wallets uh andI think it's uh uh. The Chinese
(18:15):
wallets are those who on the mostlargest amount of wallet in the world something
like that, or owning UH withcoins and so on. So can be
a gap. But as a company, obviously we can't. We can't be
uh, we can't reach any regulation. But that way we are not because
(18:37):
within the app it's it's the useas a point system and it's only when
the individual wants to send it toits private ballet. But then is the
responsibility of the individual to to makesure that is compliant with use the local
regulation. Yeah. Can you imaginethat you mentioned before that you put someonally
(19:02):
an exchange of one more level. What the process for doing that? How
easy or is that? Well, well, that it becomes for every it's
the traditional traditional way of treading orexchanging. So you need a bit to
to to to to know a bitmore. First you have to to create
(19:27):
an account with within those exchanges. So let's say if you're still dot com,
you have to do to create anaccount, which is not very complicated,
I would say, but it dependsyou know of the level of of
of experience that that someone has withwith computer, with web, with exchange
(19:48):
and so on. But you youyou create your account you log in and
then after UH you on your account, you will have the public address,
and then it's a matter again oflinking your MetaMask to that public address so
you can uh. It would betwo steps. You get the tokens from
(20:10):
the app to your private wallet metalmask or similar similar multi multi currencies what
and then from your MetaMask to theexchange you can send send the token and
after in the exchange you have youhave different pairs to you know, you
(20:36):
can change the terom with against dollars, dollars against deep coin, and so
on. And in the case ofthe core reward, there is a pair
between the corey wards and the USdollars digital the U s d T.
Yes. Yeah, we do anumber of podcasts on guys who are doing
(20:59):
your pard anywayses and things like that, and a lot of it. When
you make a investment, let's say, for something you're you have to pretty
much wait until the syndicator or themanagement decides it is time to sell.
You know, there's there's really nota whole lot of liquidity and a lot
of these projects, but it soundslike what you're doing is there's you can
(21:22):
do trades, right, you canit's pretty easy to do that, right.
There's no such thing as let's say, get money in this in this
product. Yeah yeah, I thinkwe're still on the early stage. Uh.
And and most of the deluci wesee stacking their tokens, uh,
you know, because they wait fora that that that that match their the
(21:48):
appetite, you know, they say, uh, uh, let's say you
are in US. We don't havemany vendors. We don't have US vendors
that are in the marketplace, butwe have some vendors that sheep worldwide.
Like we have a a very coolsneaker that that is made out of a
plastic bag and plastic bottles, soit's still connected and the hip to us.
(22:11):
And they offer five dollars discounts orten dollar discount and that is for
just a few bottles. So basicallythey give a process in power of half
a dollar bottles. So very easy. So but you may say, you
may say, well, you know, run, I don't I don't need
the sneakers, so I will notspend on that, you know, So
(22:34):
of course, yeah enough, butthen you have the token, the token
in the moment, not very highprice and so on, because we haven't
done, you know, marketing onthe token and so on. This more
organic. We want really to goto the the principle of utility token,
the early definition that Beny project hasfor thetten, and it's it's speak by
(22:59):
itself, the utility token, andwe want to have a utility. Many
projects on tokens have no utility andthey are just speculative. So you do
a nice bus with marketing blah blahblah. People put their money on and
obviously some people who will make money. But it's a balance. So if
there's many people a few people makingmoney, you will have many people losing
(23:22):
money eventually, unless you find away to keep the hype long enough so
that it stretches until people realize thatthere's no utility. So for us,
we will leverage the blockchain, weleverage the toganization and so on, but
we focus on giving a utility. If there is a bit of speculation,
(23:45):
it's still i mean not speculation, but appetite for you know, holding tokens.
The quiet token is good because itcreates value that will be redistributed to
all the stakeholders, to all thosepeople who have collected the plastic and made
impact and collecting trash. That isthe utility. If they can have an
(24:07):
increased purchasing power and so on thanksto that great and maybe in dollar value,
a bottle you know it's today iszero point five zero two dollars nicore
rewards we give under decore it sobottles, so it's zero point zeros your
two dollars a bottle. It's notmuch, but if you think about it,
(24:29):
you are in a place like themiddle of Mongolia. Percials in power
is you know, you collect thousandbottles, you can have a meal,
So it has already a utility. It all depends where you are. For
me, yeah, if if Itry to count off the value of the
corey was to go to the tothe to the movie. I need to
(24:51):
collect a lot of bottles as oftoday. So it's better for me to
stack those tokens and wait that theyhave more and more value when when the
communit it grows because it grows thanksto zerop. But also we do white
labels. So we make apps similarto zerop willing to record reward and eco
(25:11):
friends, and in that case wewe will we will provide the reward engine
directly embedded in that application. Soyou. We have then more more applications
using the ecosystem participated to the CoSystem. All right, well, so I
(25:37):
know you guys have that that appdownloadable at what your website zerop dot net.
Is that right? Well on thestores on the Apparlin Google store just
zero zero from our website or yousee you have a link to to the
store. But if you type zerothe e l or pe, you will
find that on a first store ongot based on right, right, and
(26:02):
you're start pretty okay. Your yourimpact and earn website also is very us
and I know that you have alot of content up there. Te us
a little bit about that. Who'swho's writing your stuff? That's really dick.
So we were with someone in ourteam that that is curating articles and
so on. H We have ourtraditional newsletter on zerop talking about what we
(26:29):
do in zerop and giving some insightsdifferent elements, but we we wanted to
go further on that. Uh.After all, using zerop is to to
impact doing good for the planet, but also to do good for you on
on wealth, your own wallets andso on. So it's about the fact
and earning. So it's okay, let's have a dedicated newsletter where we will
(26:59):
create articles about impact, how canI do better impact, what is happening
on that field, and so on, and finding also some some some some
articles of writing articles about how tohow to improve purchase in power, finding
some discount there and there, tryingto to to interest our community, give
(27:22):
them back further information, educate themand so on. And it's also a
way for us to to support usbecause when people share that newsletter and so
on, if we do subscribers,if we we can have a bit of
of monetization from the platform that weare using, that testing, the newsletter
(27:48):
and the whole system of the loopis free to download the three to to
to win and so on. Butwe also need to to earn ourselves and
so not from the Yeah, butthen we do that from the community.
It's passive passive income. And wesay, uh, I mean the user
don't have to it's a free useletter and so on. But if there
(28:10):
is subscribe to other newsletter and soon, Uh, then then it helps
us to to grow, to toto further and so on. So it's
so important possibly And and I alsonoticed that you're you know you you partner
up with Filandro Investors. Is thereis there a better partner out there than
either answer is incredible or what?Yeah? We we met. I think
(28:41):
we connected through through LinkedIn a coupleof years ago and I explained what we
were starting to do and say hey, with Filantro Investors, we are looking
at innovative companies that are on differentarticles and and you are on the environmental
(29:03):
vertical and we like what you doand then we we we we decided to
to work together. So they helpus to find investors the time is it's
not always easy, but also helpus to find some business supportities. They
connected us with the representative that wehave in Argentina. Uh. The person
(29:25):
that represents z loop in Nigeria isa financial investor ambassador that discovered about ze
loop and contacted me and say hey, I would like to to promote zeroop
in my country. And we aresetting up a new business model specifically for
for a nigerr but that can bereplicated in other developing countries where basically we
(29:51):
leverage the app to provide a servicefor recyclers in in in those countries.
Often what happens do you have recyclersthat needs to collect plastic to make money
by transforming the plastic recycling in andsoona, and they pay people at the
counters, so you have informal sectorpeople that will spend their time collecting plastic
(30:15):
bottles to bring it to those recyclersand get a bit of living. Zerop
is not designed for that category ofpeople because they don't want to go through
an app. They just want toget cash from of the counter when they
break their plastic. Simple as that. Uh. Nevertheless, it has a
(30:40):
constraint also for the recycler because theyneed to have an infrastructure counters where you
can deposit the bottle right and andso they don't have a fine cover.
I mean it's a liberty coverage. They are basically they have to wait that
people litter, so that inform sectorcollector littering with you loop. You want
(31:03):
to prevent people littering because they understandthat the value in in their in their
disposal. So we requite people toeroup so they we start to educate them
and to what give them to bringthe bottles to points of collection so we
can reach recyclers. And then wehave we are recruiting at the moment what
(31:25):
we call zerop aggregators who are individualsthat want to they have they have already,
they don't have time to do informalsector, you know, to walk
every day because if you want tomake a living in bracket living, but
at least to subdize yourself by collectingplastic, it's a it's a it's a
(31:45):
hard work and it's a daily work. But we have also a category of
people who maybe don't earn so muchwith the work, then do and they
will be happy to have an additionalincome by entering in the process of the
plastic. So what the greats haveto do for us, They have to
(32:07):
install a bin that we will webrand zero with a QR code so people
can download the app and so on, and then we map that in the
in the zerup network as as asa normal functioning, but this one really
highlight as zerop points. And thenwe onboard people to to download the app
(32:30):
and so on, ReWarp people tobring plastic. But this plastic goes to
thegregator, so the agregator gets moreplastic bottles without the painful effort to collect
every single bottle. They can doobviously to to top it up, but
it can we try to make itfort less, and then they will uh
(32:52):
some some some ponds from the recyclorswhen they bring the plastic bottles. And
then we also get a bit ofcommission from the recyclor that we can reinvest
keep a bit for us because heywe have to again we have to tobaccos
of living and develop all those thingscomplete, don't just from nowhere. But
(33:16):
we will also reject use part ofthat money to provide prices and so on
rent competition for the zelution. Sothen you have the two tier level.
The zelution that participate to competition getthe usual equal reward the benefits and the
(33:37):
marketplace. And if they win thechallenge with the prices that are part of
the challenge, degregator get more plasticand get the next try income thanks to
that plastic, and the recyclers ishappy because he has no an army of
people collecting with not much additional coastsfor him. Absolutely, I'm sure this
(34:01):
is all new to a lot ofpeople who are listening to this right now.
If they want to get more informationfrom you, with there a way
to contact you interrectly, they gothe website. How how should they contact
you? I think the best theeasiest way to type on www dot Eric
s three sixty dot com. Andhere they will have all my contact details.
(34:27):
Uh, they will have all thelinks about our social media and uh
some some videos and documents about zerloop and so also they can document themselves,
they can reach me. And yes, we we we finding new people
who say, Hey, I'm ina country where I could put I have
a network and I be a differentprofile for representative of z loop. It's
(34:52):
what is important is that they're motivatedand they know how to you know,
to knock at doors and and gobusiness and so on the next viciploy and
so yeah, it's it's great.I mean, you know, I'm looking
at your like a top level viewof what we're talking about today. It's
really interesting. And you're looking atat you know, impact investing. You've
got technology, you got blockchain, you got philanthropy, you got crowdfunding.
(35:15):
Your project really covers it all.And I really really impressed with what you're
doing. Vicky, do you haveany closing statements or questions you want to
ask Eric before we close this out. Well, you know, we first
talked to Eric about six seven monthsago and he was just you know,
we were just getting to know him, and he's come so far. But
(35:36):
you're so right Ron that uh,what Eric has done is he's put together
the whole package. You can pickup the plastic and the trash and whatever
and make rewards and and do youknow what you want with with the blockchain
and that, But you will alsohave the ability to create a legacy,
(35:57):
to have an impact and change theworld, to do something positive for future
generations. So you can invest inz loop and create a legacy for future
generations in your family. But youcan also just enjoy the pleasure of picking
(36:19):
up trash, recycling it. Knowthat you've cleaned up the world. It's
it's fabulous, Eric, what you'vedone, It's absolutely fabulous. Kudos to
you for being so creative. Thankyou, and thanks to all new partner
new for more than six months now. In Argentina, for instance, we
uh, you know, with youloop, you don't collect ourselves. The
(36:42):
classic the community is collecting in Solona, right right, yeah, in Argentina,
because if you have again, itdepends on the profile of the repersentative.
That representative has connection with municipalities andso, and he managed to sign
some contracts where we getting the plastic. We are sorting the plastic, so
we are hands on on the plasticin that case, and we already process
(37:08):
collect between ten tons to nineteen tons. That's all record at the moment,
and we are at the moment lowalready huge. It's a lot, but
it's actually law because like for thepick at nineteen tons, we could have
collected double that amount on that month, but we didn't have yet the infrastructure
(37:29):
to do so. So we hadto you know, to have the foot
on the on the break to slowdown and so on. But it's great
because that increased the impact that wedo have with our network, with our
movement of zoop and that is important. Again. You know, I was
saying about utility. We have towalk the talk, and that's what we
(37:54):
do. You know, I wasthinking we could probably make a fortune just
to collecting trash on Las Vegas Boulevardevery day. See what, zoo,
This would be true. This wouldbe true especially on you know, special
event days like oh, I don'tknow, maybe Formula one race. Think
of all the trash that takes youon the ground. I'm in for that.
