Perspective Bible Talk

Perspective Bible Talk

They say that 70% of students who go to college, after high school, lose their faith after college. Often they find themselves faced with topics and strong arguments about why the Bible is wrong or why God doesn’t exist. Or maybe they just see culture outside of the church and would rather have that instead. This is not much different from many others who attend church regularly. Often some people sit in church and feel unconnected because they don’t agree with what is being taught. Or maybe they have questions and their church either doesn’t know how to answer them or feels like these questions “aren’t fair to ask about God.” Why is there evil in the world? Do We have free will? Can we know God? Perspective Bible Talk is a podcast aimed at 3 things: Move away from traditions and look at what the Bible really says. Challenge people to engage with what the Bible says on a deeper level. Spark interest in the Bible and discuss topics that are often overlooked. To do this, on this podcast we will; see what the Bible actually says, Let the Bible interpret itself, and attempt to see if we can build a theology based scripture following. “It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.” Proverbs 25:2 New Episodes Monday, 7:00 am Eastern Time Be sure to visit https://sites.google.com/view/perspective-bible-hour/home for episode notes and submit topics for further episodes

If God is a loving God, why is there evil in the world? Knowing what love is one thing, but what drives love? How come God can be all love and let evil exist? We will need to look deeper into what love is at its core and then take a trip back to the garden of Eden to see what this love is really all about.

If God is a loving God, why is there evil in the world? Why doesn't God just remove all evil? Why can't we live in a perfect world without sin? But is that possible for God to do in the first place, even if he is all-powerful?

English didn't exist during the time of the Old Testament. Many copies have been made over the years. How do we know that the copies we have now, are accurate to what was originally penned thousands of years ago?

Why are there so many different Bible translations? If we have the "original text" why do we need different versions of God's word? Why should we care about this?

Should you read the Bible literally or figuratively? Many passages seem to be strongly worded as essential ideas that are meant to be literal. Reading it literally, we can correct some theological issues if we look into the whole Bible.

Should you read the Bible literally or figuratively? It turns out the Bible says that there are parts that aren't written as figurative language, not just literal. Figurative language in the Bible can also have literal, physical or concrete meanings. Some of the writing in the Bible can even give rise to things that were not directly stated but implied.
