Golden Knights were cruising to an easy victory over the mentally-beaten Sharks until late in the 3rd period when Pavelski faces off against Eakin, gets cross-checked across the chest off the face-off dot, nudged by Stasny, then easily falls to the ice (as any veteran player would knowing he would get a penalty call in his favor with his team down by 3 late in the game) then inadvertently hits his head and stays down. Eakin gets a 5-minute major for a basic 2-minute variety cross check. SJ goes on to score 4 times in the 5-minute major penalty to take the lead late in the game. Tonight's game was stolen from Vegas. The outcome was determined by an ill-called major penalty that should never have been called. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Golden Knights had the game stolen from them by the referee. We saw another team wearing black and gold get a game stolen by a referee back in January. Another sad day for a team cruising to an easy victory. The refs gave the Knights a golden shower and never looked back. It was yet another embarrassment for officials in professional sports. But wait... was there in-game betting on the game? Remember, legalized sports betting can easily compromise the integrity of any game. Moreover, the most likely person(s) to be bought are those on the field, court, or in this case, the ice, are the easiest to be bought. Officials are those lowest paid individuals. Its amazing how referees seem to swallow their whistles at certain times and they are blow happy at other and for certain teams. As Sal The Bookmaker says: "Follow the money if you're looking for winners in the sports betting world." The lights burn bright in Las Vegas and at casino sportsbooks around the world for a reason. Bottom line... legalized sports betting damages the integrity of professional sports games. Period.
