Speaker 1 (00:00):
Blessings and peace to you. This is esp favorite thinking podcast,
and my name is Favorite.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
It is Monday, Yes, it is Monday, June first, twenty
twenty six. Another wonderful day and another day to be thankful.
And as I always say, if you focus on what
is good, you can project something good to happen when
you focus on what's good, because if you are focused
(00:29):
on the negative things, there's nothing good about that.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
No, there's nothing good.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
About focusing on the negative things or sitting around talking
about the negative things. There's nothing good about that. Nothing
good comes from that. So focus on what is good.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
When you focus on what is good, you build yourself
up and you will build somebody else.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Up if you focus on what is good.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
If you're out there traveling about today, make sure you
are not distracted by being on your cell phone too much.
Why because many of you are or have been distracted
by being on your cell phone looking down in the public.
You're not supposed to be looking down in the public.
You're not supposed to be doing that. You're supposed to
(01:20):
be paying attention and alert when you are in the public. Yes,
we are living in some serious times.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
And many of us.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
We need to be praying. For those of you that
are not praying, you need to be praying.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
And you need to be focused.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And when I say pray, I'm not talking about acting
religious and crazy. I'm talking about praying to Almighty God
that is sovereign because he is the one that can
help us.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yes he can.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
For those of you that have a trouble with your
that may be having trouble with your faith. God is
the one that can help. Why am I saying that
because man has limitations, God doesn't have a limitation. Think
about that for a second. Okay, that should increase your faith.
So we need to pray and we need to stay focused.
I needed to say that because there's a lot going on.
(02:11):
But we don't have to be overtaken or worried or
fearful about what's going on. We just need to pray
and don't be distracted by being on your phone in
the public all right, if you would like to take
a lesson with me, Yes, you can take a lesson
with me. Isn't that awesome? English lesson? Public speaking lesson?
(02:34):
If you are preparing for a presentation or interview, you
can take a lesson with me. Yes you can, oh well, yes,
you can make an appointment at ICs bz one dot com.
I am a partner with ICs Integrity Consulting and Seals,
and you can make an appointment and you will be
(02:57):
able to have a talk with me. Yes, you can
take a lesson, all right. And the website is make
an appointment. The website is ICs biz one and that's
the number one icsbiz one dot com. Okay, all right,
So lastly, I want to remind you if you would
(03:18):
like to give to the podcast, you can give at
cash at Dallas sign s B favor or you can
give a vemo at SB favor. Once again, if you
would like to support and give to this podcast, you
can give at cash at Dallas signs B favor or
(03:38):
you can give a vemo at SB favor. Thank you
so much for your support and your donations. And I
always remind you of all of these things concerning distraction
and prayer. I reminded you of those things because I care,
all right, I simply care.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Well.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
The title of this episode is making excuses. Stop making
excuses the moment your life begins to change. Stop making
excuses the moment your life begins to change. We all
(04:17):
need to do better in this area, yes, all of us,
because we all sometimes have procrastinated. Some people procrastinate more
than others, and unfortunately, when a person procrastinates, they make
excuses as to why they should and should not be
(04:38):
doing something. Whatever goal you have that you want to achieve,
you have to first understand that procrastination and making excuses
are two enemies that you will have to confront when
you have a goal and when you're trying to achieve something.
(05:00):
We should never make excuses based upon what you should
be doing and what you shouldn't be doing. You know
in your heart what you should be doing. You know
what your convictions are. You know in your mind and
your conscience what you should be eating. You know in
(05:22):
your heart that you should be at that gym, you
should be exercising every morning. But if you are making excuses,
you are putting yourself in the position of a setback
and you don't want that.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
So stop making excuses.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
And if you have friends that agree with your excuses,
they are not your friends because those family members and
those friends, if they care about you, if they truly
love you, they should be telling you stop making excuses.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
And do what you are supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
When you make an excuse, you are positioning yourself for
a setback.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
So don't make excuse now.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
If you have a goal or if you need to
do something and you can't do it immediately, that's different.
If you can't do something you need to.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Do, that is different.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
But think about it like this. Every time you have
a goal or every time you shouldn't do something you
are doing, think about it like this. When you start
to reason in your mind whether or not you should stop,
or whether or not you should continue, that rate deer
(06:42):
should tell you which way you should go. Yes, because
when we start to reason in our mind, that's when
the excuse comes.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yes. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
For an example, if you know you have to get
up at six o'clock in the morning, and you tell yourself, oh,
I'm just going to sleep till seven thirty, and you
were supposed to be at the gym by six thirty,
but you just told yourself, oh, I'm going to sleep
till seven thirty. That's just making an excuse not to
maintain your discipline. Oh I'm going to sleep till seven
(07:14):
thirty because I never get to sleep in that's an excuse.
If you are trying to maintain a goal. If you
are trying to maintain a goal when it comes to
how you eat, or a financial goal or relationship goal,
being consistent is everything because when you are consistent, that
(07:35):
means you are building something over time, and the purpose
of being consistent is to also build the discipline from
your consistency. So that's why it's important to be consistent.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Don't give room to excuses.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Don't give yourself past when you know you are supposed
to be doing certain things, or if you know you
are not supposed to be doing certain things.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Don't give a space.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Two excuses. An excuse can provide a temporary comfort, and
it also prevents a person from reaching their full potential.
You don't want to be in a position of a setback,
a delay, or a hindrance. A hindrance is something that
(08:35):
gets in a way to stop you from doing what
you are supposed to do. So you don't want that,
so don't make excuses. If you have a diet goals,
wake up every day thinking about the result. Every time
you look at your plate. Think about the result that
you are seeking, that you are walking in, the result
(08:58):
that you are manifested.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
And you won't give a place to an excuse.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Think about the requirements that are necessary to reach the goals. Yes,
the requirements, because there are requirements to reach certain goals,
and if you are making excuses, you are putting yourself
(09:26):
in a position of a setback. Taking full responsibility for
your life and being honest with yourself will make you
push excuses to the side.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
You won't give place to excuses.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Your current situation may not be entirely your fault when
it comes to certain types of setbacks, but you can
prevent those setbacks in the future if you don't give
place to.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Excuses.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Focus more on solutions and not problems, because successful people
spend less time complaining and more time finding ways forward.
People that make excuses, they constantly focus on problems. They
focus on the problems to say, oh, it's the problem
that stopped me from doing what I needed to do. No,
(10:22):
don't focus on the problem, focus on the solution. You
doing something today is a part of the solution, because
if you have a problem and you do nothing, then
that means you're just laying and basking in the excuse.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Of being a part of the problem and not the solution.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Because successful people spend less time complaining and more time
more time finding ways forward. Be honest with yourself. Many
excuses are simply fears disguised as reasons not to do something.
When you know you are supposed to do what you
(11:04):
are supposed to do, identify what is really holding you back,
and when you recognize that thing, whatever it is, don't
make excuses for it anymore. Recognize it for what it is,
and don't give it a pass anymore.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Do something new.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Start before you feel ready, meaning don't wait until you
feel like you need to do something.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Do what you know you should be doing.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
That's right, Do what you know you should be doing,
because if you wait for the feeling, the feeling might
not ever come. So do what you know you should
be doing. Confidence often comes after action, not before it.
(11:56):
That's right. Recently, I was laying my bed sleep early
in the morning, and I got up and I said
to myself, I gotta work out. And I laid there
and every part of me was like, nah, I don't
feel like working out. Every part of me was like, ah,
I just don't feel like it. But that other part
of me, the better part of me, said I'm working
(12:17):
out today. So I followed the voice that told me
something better, because in that very moment, I could have
gravitated to the other voice that said I don't feel
like working out today.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
See the better part and the lesser part.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
The better part of you is the part that wants
to do all the right things, the one that can
conquer everything. But the lesser part of you, that's the
part that needs to be disciplined. That's the part that
needs to be corrected. That's the part that needs to
be chestised. Oh yes, so don't wait.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
For the feeling.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Do it anyway, whatever you have to do. Don't wait
for the feeling, but start before you feel ready. Stop
waiting for a perfect condition. There will never be a
perfect time or condition. Progress begins when you start with
what you have. That's right, Progress starts.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
With what you have.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You don't have to have all the money, you don't
have to have all the people, you don't have to
have all the support. Start the business. Do what you
said and you're going to do. If it's an educational goal,
do what you said you will do. Don't make excuses
based upon what you don't have. Do what you said
(13:42):
you're going to do. And as you do, what you
said you're going to do. No matter what it is,
you will start to see the evidence because you took action.
That's right, So replace excuses with actions because you will
never see the perfect time or the perfect condition when
(14:03):
you are trying to accomplish something. There is no perfect time.
Sometimes sometimes you just got to go and do what
you know and what you believe you have to do
when you know you have to do it. So replace
excuses with action. Every excuse uses energy that could be
(14:24):
spent taking a small step towards your goal. So don't
waste your energy on excuses. Use your energy on your actions.
Control what you can control. Control your attitude, your effort,
your decisions, manage how you feel because you are in control.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
That's right. You get to choose.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
You get to choose what's going to happen when it
comes to the next moment based upon what you do
and how you respond, So don't give placed to excuses.
Develop daily discipline because discipline helps you move.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Forward even when motivation is absent. That's right.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Develop discipline DAI even when there is no motivation present,
because when you develop discipline, you don't need motivation. When
you develop discipline, all you will know in that moment
is I gotta do what I gotta do. Whatever it
(15:33):
is you're working on, you will just stick.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
To what you know you have to do. You're not
gonna go by how you feel. You're not gonna go
buy the condition.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
You're gonna go by simply your will power or what
you know you have to do. Because when you do
something habitually over and over and over and over and
over again, it becomes you. And that is why it's
good to build good daily habits. Because you build good
deli habits, it becomes you. That's how you will become disciplined.
(16:08):
Make sure from all of that, all of that, all
of this stuff, excuse me, all of the stuff that
you have gone through in the past. Make sure that
you learn something, or make sure you observe to learn
something from your setbacks. Mistakes are opportunities to grow, not
(16:28):
reasons to quit.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Let me say that again.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Mistakes are opportunities to grow, not to quit. So learn
from your setbacks. Observe the things, observe situations and circumstances
and things that you have gone to. Observe it, think
about it, but learn from it and remember your why.
(16:53):
That's right, remember your why.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
What is your why? What is your why? Why? You
are doing what you were doing.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
When your purpose is strong enough, your excuses become weaker.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Oh I just love that.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
When your purpose is strong enough, your excuses will become weaker.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Excuses build walls between where you are and where you
could be. Responsibility builds the bridge.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
So make sure you do what you have to do.
You have to do what you have to do. You
have to build good happens.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
You have to have discipline, and you have to stop
making excuses because if you focus on what you need
to do, what you should be doing, then you will
see a beautiful result. You will see a beautiful result
in your relationships. You will see a beautiful result in
(18:02):
your life, in your eating habits, your workout routine, whatever
it is you are doing. All of us have the
ability to choose. Every day we wake up, we have
the ability to choose. God has given us free will
to choose. You can choose what's bad and what's not beneficial,
(18:26):
or you can choose what is beneficial. You can choose
what is edifying, or you can choose what is not edifying.
When you choose those things that are good for you,
you are choosing a type of self love. Every time
you choose to pray, you are choosing a type of
(18:49):
self love. Why am I saying that, Because God in
this moment is very important. He is very important. He
is the breath of life, and without him don't have anything.
So when you go through something, you just need to pray.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
A little bit more.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
If you need peace, you just need to pray a
little bit more. If you need to have more joy
throughout your day, you just need to pray a little
bit more. Because we were not created to do things
individually without God.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
We need him.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
And so sometimes when a person makes excuses, they make
those excuses because they don't even understand themselves in the
moment to know they are making excuses until they see
the consequences of their excuses. So make sure you are mindful,
(19:46):
all right, Make sure you are mindful about why you
need to pray and what can put you in a
position of being ahead and not behind.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
And I know my be somebody out there saying, well,
what does prayer have to do with making an excuse?
But let me tell you something. To know yourself better
is to have a relationship with God. See, because earlier.
I just said, you have the lesser self and the
(20:22):
better self. The better self, the better party. You want
a relationship with God. The better part of yourself wants
to do all the right things, wants to help people,
but the lesser party wants to do all the wrong things.
We all have that in us, and that's why we
have to work on ourselves. But when you work on
yourself with God in the midst of it, now you
(20:45):
have help. That's right, because if you try to do
everything as an individual, there's a limit to that.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
Oh yes, it is. There's a limit to that.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Why because you are not living because you decided to
put air in your own lungs. God put that air
in your lungs. You didn't put that error in your
lungs yourself. God put that error in your lungs today.
Yes he did.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Oh yes he did.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Oh yes he did. I'm talking to that voice in
your mind.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Oh yes.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
So because God put the error in your lungs, you
need to have a relationship with him. And when I
say a relationship, I'm talking about just talking to him.
And that's what prayer is. So we can do better
every day and stop making excuses. Will we add God
(21:40):
in it, and we look toward the future more positively,
more focused, without making excuses. When you are in a
position to do something great, and you have an opportunity
to do it, make sure you do it and don't
(22:02):
make an excuse. I have made several mistakes in my past,
and when I think about some of the mistakes that
I made, unfortunately I made a lot of excuses.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
I hindered my own success in the past, success in
so many ways.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
I thank God that I have yes experienced different types
of success, but some of the things that I experienced
in my past, I made a lot of excuses, excuses
that help me back. So I'm saying this to you. Understand,
there is a great consequence that comes.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
From making excuses.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
If you tell someone to clean up the table, knowing
that when you clean the table, the table can have
a spirit of excellence upon it, and the person says,
I don't feel like it, I don't want to right now.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
I can do it later. They just made an excuse.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
To not invite in the spirit of excellence. That's just
an example of what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
A person can say I don't feel like.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
I don't feel like driving to see a certain individual,
but tomorrow's not promised, and they say, oh, I don't
feel like going to see that person because I'm tired
right now. You can sleep at anytime, but you make
up the excuse not to go see someone you could
see today instead of tomorrow because tomorrow's not promised to
(23:40):
none of us. So the point I'm making is stop
making excuses, Stop making excuses, and do the things you
are supposed to do, whatever it is.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Only you know what it is.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
I have my own stuff to keep in check, and
you have your own stuff to keep in check.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
So check your life.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Make it, make it you know, write some things down,
make a list and see where where you are, and
see where you have been making excuses, because excuses will
set you back. They will hinder your progress, and they
will bring about delays for you to see the manifestation
(24:24):
of good things, and you don't want that. So thank
