Speaker 1 (00:00):
Blessings and peace to you.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
This is s be Favorite Thinking podcast and my name
is S. B. Favor. How are you doing today? It
is April seventeenth, twenty twenty six, another wonderful day and
another day to be thankful. And as I always say,
(00:22):
if you focus on what is good, then you can
project something good to happen. Because if you sit around
focus on the negative things, that means you are projecting
more negative things to happen, and you do not want that.
So focus on what is good today. You have choices,
(00:46):
so choose what is good. If you are traveling about
today in the airport, exercising, walking, driving, make sure you
stay focused. Make sure you are not distracted by being
on your cell phone too much in the public.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Many people use their cell phones.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
In the public a lot, and they are looking down
instead of paying attention. So make sure you are not distracted.
Make sure you are focused, and make sure you pray.
That's right. Make sure you pray, because it is so
important to pray. We live in a world filled with
(01:24):
so many things that are not good, and when you pray,
it just makes everything a little bit better. So don't
be distracted. Make sure you pray and make sure you
focus on what it's good. I always remind you of
these things because I simply care. Okay, I care. So
(01:46):
that's all it is. Okay, it's just a reminder. I'm
not telling you what to do. It's just a reminder,
all right. If people like to give to the podcast,

(04:05):
episode title is how to practice self compassion daily build
your confidence.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
We do stress and improve mental health.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Many of us work hard, we study hard, we do
everything at one hundred percent constantly, and many of us
are sometimes.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Doing too much.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
So you need to show yourself some compassion. You need
to slow down a little bit and pamper yourself and
do something for yourself so that you can just simply
feel better. Because sometimes many of us were constantly doing
(04:54):
everything for others, but sometimes we tend to forget about
what we need for ourselfs. And so this episode, I'm
going to talk to you about what you should do
to simply care for yourself more to show yourself some
(05:16):
compassion or more compassion. Okay. I had to remind myself
of that. Last week, I was working on some information
online and I was working for about two hours on
this project. And while I was working normally, I saved
(05:39):
my work and I didn't save it. And so as
I was working for some reason the application that I
was working on, it just.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Went totally crazy. It just went totally crazy and everything
was lost.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
So all of the work that I do, all of
the work that I did for two hours, it was lost.
And the reason why it was lost is because in
order for it to be saved, well, I could have
saved it at any time, but in order for it
(06:19):
to be recovered, I had to be logged in the
application completely. But I wasn't logged all the way in,
so I lost all the work that I was working on.
And when I realized I couldn't recover it and I
lost everything, I had to show myself some compassion.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I had to remind.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Myself, Okay, don't be hard on yourself. It's still a
good day. Stay focused, do what you have to do.
You can still do the work and it's going to
be even better. So I had to encourage myself and
I had to show myself some compassion, which leads me
(07:02):
to this very episode today. It leads me to talk
about it because sometimes we are too hard on ourselves.
And when you are hard on yourself, it's almost like
just beating on yourself mentally. You know, whether it's regret
(07:24):
or self doubt or would it, could have should have?
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Oh I should have did that, Oh I could have
done that.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
No, you need to just stop. Just show yourself some compassion,
show yourself some grace, because you show everybody else compassion
and mercy and grace. Show yourself that. So when you
make a mistake, or if you do something that wasn't
intentional and you just simply make a mistake, just forgive yourself.
(07:54):
Show yourself some compassion so that you can build emotional
resilience in the midst of situations and circumstances, So that
you can develop a healthier mindset in your daily life,
so that you do not struggle with self doubt, negative
self talk, or perfectionism. That's right, because nobody is perfect.
(08:21):
Many of us would love to be perfect, but we
are not perfect, and we have to embrace our flaws
and we have to.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
We have to.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Embrace our mistakes. So it's all about improving your mental health,
your self esteem, and your inner peace while becoming more
understanding about what you do for yourself, okay, and what
you need for yourself. So don't be hard on yourself
(08:50):
because it's not good. You know, there's nothing wrong with
being accountable. There's nothing wrong with examining yourself be better.
There's nothing wrong with having self awareness and high emotional intelligence.
There's nothing wrong with just wanting to do everything with
(09:13):
excellence in order.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
Nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
But you can't be so stern or hard on yourself
that now you are becoming full of perfectionism or you're
becoming full of something that you don't need. Okay, you
don't want to be stressed out because something doesn't happen
(09:41):
the way you want it to happen. Your efforts do count,
and your efforts do matter, and you have done a
good job. So tell yourself, yes, I've done a good job.
There's nothing wrong with telling yourself you have done a
good job because your efforts are not in vain and
(10:01):
your efforts do matter. So be kind to your self
every day, not sometimes every day. Be kind to yourself
every day. Just as you would be kind to others,
you have to be kind to yourself. You have to
be kind to yourself intellectually, mentally, spiritually so that you
(10:23):
can sort out what you need and sort out what
you don't need. Because if you are focusing on all
the things that you don't need.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
And you have a lot of inner.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Negative self talk going on, guess what that's not good
and that is not healthy. So make sure that you
are kind to yourself so that you can continue with good,
healthy personal growth, so that you can continue to have
(11:01):
a creative mindset, so that you can boost your confidence,
so that you can continually reduce stress. So be kind
to yourself, okay. It's important to practice positive self talk,
replacing negative thoughts with supportive and encouraging language. You have
(11:22):
to speak more positive to yourself, whether it's journaling or
just verbal affirmations out loud. You have to practice positive
self talk. If you make a mistake and you don't
feel good about it, acknowledge the mistake, talk about it journaling,
(11:46):
or talk about it with a friend you can trust.
But most importantly, practice positive self talk. Okay, because if
you repeat negative self talk in your mind, over and
over and over and over again. It becomes like a
song that will play in your mind to the point
where you just start where you will just start to
(12:09):
feel bad. And you don't want to walk around feeling bad.
You do not want to walk around feeling bad about
yourself or just feeling discouraged. So practice positive self talk
and replace all of that. Replace excuse me, replace all
of the negative self talk, and practice excuse me positive self.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
You see, none of us is perfect.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
I embrace my faults because if I make a mistake,
I just keep on going, you see, see all right?
All right?
Speaker 1 (12:44):
So the next one, accept imperfection.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Mm hmmm. Accept imperfection. Understand that mistakes are part of growth,
not failure. We have to make mistakes in order to
have a higher level of discipline, or a higher level
of excellence, or a higher level of order. We have
to make some mistakes. Absolutely all mistakes are not totally
(13:13):
bad because we learn from them, We gain knowledge from them,
We gain wisdom from them, we gain understanding to know
what we should do and what we shouldn't do. Okay,
the next one take breaks without guilt. Rest is necessary
for productivity and mental clarity. Do not work to the
(13:34):
point where you are just doing too much all the time.
Because if you are doing too much all the time,
that means you are not resting. Resting is a part
of maintaining your mental health and your physical health, so
you have to so rest and take breaks without guilt. Okay,
(14:00):
Next one, set realistic expectations according to what you know
you should do. Avoid putting too much pressure on your self.
Putting too much pressure on yourself is part of that
negative self talk. That's right, So don't sit and think
(14:21):
about what you should have done when you didn't do it.
Just plan to do what you need to do next.
Forgive yourself quickly, let go of past mistakes and focus
on moving forward. Don't bask, don't get stuck. Don't stay
in a place of reminding yourself of something.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
That you did that wasn't good. Forgive yourself quickly.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Be aware of your emotions, acknowledge how you feel without
judging your self. With yourself because when you are honest
with yourself, you're able to confront what happened, deal with
what has happened, and move forward. So be honest with
(15:12):
yourself and be aware of your emotions. Create healthy boundaries
to protect your time, your energy, and your mental space
because you have to take care of you. Nobody's not
gonna do it for you. God has given you the
ability to take care of yourself. So do it with excellence,
(15:35):
do it with discipline, Do it knowing.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
That when you take care of yourself.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
You will become an asset for somebody else. Okay, celebrate
small winds. Always recognize progress, even if it's minor. Celebrate
the small wins. And be proud of yourself. I'm not
talking about being proud of yourself to the point where
you're walking around with a lot of pride thinking you
(16:03):
better than others.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
No, I'm not talking about that.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
I'm talking about being proud of yourself. To be encouraged
because you have encouraged I mean, accomplish something. Excuse me,
because you have accomplished something, all right. Surround yourself with positivity.
The people that will uplift you, encourage you, admonishe you
(16:27):
to keep going, and the people that will help you
to understand that you are valuable. Surround yourself with positivity constantly,
because when you surround yourself with positivity, you are building
yourself up. If you surround yourself with negative people, that
(16:47):
are constantly asking you, what are you doing? What is
wrong with you?
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Why are you doing that? Guess what?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
You don't need those people. If it's a family member,
you can love them at a distance. But if somebody's
constantly talking like that to you, distance yourself from them.
Distance is good and distance is healthy. That's why I said,
create healthy boundaries. Protect your time, energy, and mental space. Lastly,
(17:18):
speak to yourself like a friend. Be a friend to
yourself because God loves you. And because God loves you.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
You can have peace with yourself. You can be clear
with yourself as.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
You pray, and as you maintain a spiritual life connected
to God. Yes, I said, is spiritual life connected to God?
Because God is like water. If you don't drink water,
you will die. So we all need God in our spirits.
So your spiritual life is important. So as you stay connected,
(17:52):
you will grow and you can be a friend to yourself.
Treat yourself with a kindness you have given others, because
self care is mandatory on all levels, so that you
can be an asset to someone else. People that don't
(18:17):
take care of themselves mentally spiritually, sometimes they are not
nice people. When you come in contact with people that
are not mentally and spiritually caring for themselves correctly.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
They are not.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Nice people, and honestly, I feel sorry for them. I
do show people like that mercy. People that wake up
in the morning just upset about the world. They're just
upset about everything. They're upset about everything around them. They're
upset with the color of the wall. They're upset that
the sun is shining too bright. They're just upset about everything.
People like that, they need mercy, they need compassion because
(18:59):
those type of people, they are not caring for themselves correctly.
When you wake up in the morning and you open
your eyes, it is an opportunity to see and experience
another day. And it's the opportunity to care for yourself,
to be connected to God so that you can properly
(19:22):
care for someone else. And as you take care of yourself, mind, soul,
and spirit, you will start to grow and transform into
something and into something very beautiful. So sometimes when I
(19:42):
speak too fast, I triple with my words. But guess what,
I embrace my flaws. Oh, yes, I embrace my flaws.
I always tell my students, always slow down when you speak.
I'm normally a fast speaker, but I remind myself to
slow down, especially if I'm in any type.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Of public speaking. Right, none of us are perfect.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
But as I was.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Stating, people that are taking care of themselves correctly.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Are normally the ones that.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Will be able to care.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
For others correctly. But people that are not taking care
of themselves correctly, they are not nice people. They can
have everything going well for them, and sadly, their spirit
is not filled with light. Their spirit is not filled
with goodness because they are not focused on that. They
are not doing the things to make sure they're on
(20:45):
a path of light. So make sure you are not
one of those people. Make sure you are caring for yourself.
Make sure you are doing the work every single day
in some kind of way to examine where you are are,
to know what you need to do for yourself so
that you can become an asset for someone else. So
