Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Star Wars splash Page Comics in Review.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is episode number four hundred and seventy one, and
we are still originally solicited for ten issues. Jeff, how
are you.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Stage? I'm using.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
Park On don't want since running the gust scene almost
I don't even doesn't like.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
All right, we may have the resource about this.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Plus we're well over that this is like what issue
number four hundred and seventy.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
One, so nobody can know it's okay.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I guess, I guess we should do like what all
comics do and just every year just start over at
number one.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Well, as I have told you before, I think that's
not a bad idea, of folks.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
We do have two books to discuss this week from
dark Horse. We have Star Wars Hyperspace Stories, Tides of Terror,
Parts two of four, and we have for Marvel Hans
solo The Hunt for the Falcon, issue number two of
I believe five.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
That's correct, Very well done, you well done. You look
at me.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
But before we dive into that, Matt, what kind of
kind of news have we got? Now that we are
back together after two weeks of.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
Weirdness, reunited and it feels.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
So good only if I can be herb. You have
to be Peaches, all.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Right, deal, I accept the terms of your offer. We
do it. Big news, of course, this coming weekend is
the New York Comic Con. No, I will not be
in attendance because I don't like large crowds, but Lucasfilm
Publishing will have a panel and it's going to be
on Saturday, October eleventh, from eleven thirty am twelve thirty
(02:00):
pm Eastern Time. Guests include Adam Christopher, Charles Soul, Ethan Sachs,
Jennifer Hettell, who is a senior editor at Lucasfilm Publishing,
Kristin Baber of course, you know, good friend of the
show and just a wonderful human being, as well as
Mark Guggenheim and Kawame and Balia who has got that
(02:22):
new novel coming out, Star Wars The Last Order. Of course,
your friend and mine always Michael Siglange will be there
as well. So what are we hoping for? Well, let's
point out something odd. Nobody from dark Horse writing a
dark Horse book, with the exception of Ethan, who is
(02:43):
in the process of wrapping up co Breaker for the
Hyperstories imprint, is there. But we know that Charles Soul
you know, has got a couple of Marvel books, including
a Legacy of Vader, and has always got his you know,
finger in the piece to speak. And the fact that
we've got Adam Christopher who's got an upcoming uh, you know,
(03:08):
Darth Vader novel coming up coming out, so it should
be interesting. However, and then of course Mark Gugenheim was
writing Jedi Knights, So what's gonna happen? I have no idea,
but here's what. Here's what I'm gonna hope happens. Uh,
Jedi Knights will end at issue number ten, and then
we'll come back around for another ten issue maxi series
(03:28):
called Jedi Knights with more stories. Uh. Legacy of Vader
will probably end its run, I believe with issue twelve,
and then perhaps it comes back for a second season,
still set in between the Last Jedi and the Ryse
of Skywalker, you know, and adding a little more context
and detail to Kylo Wren's growth between those two films.
(03:50):
Ethan Sachs stirringly emerges into the publishing panel, swinging in
on a rope a chunk from Goonies to announce Bounty
Hunters number two volume two with Paolo Villanelli, in which
all the next to rise up and kill all the
(04:13):
bounty hunters.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
No, it would be awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
I don't know what's gonna happen, so, but you know,
obviously we are anticipating some comic book news. Maybe perhaps
we'll get some nuggets about Doctor Afrah. We've still it's
been two months there's been no solicit for Doctor Afra
Chaos Agent number six. Uh. And distressingly, so the page
count for the trade paperback solicit for that for that book,
(04:41):
which is duebout May nineteenth, UH still says issues once
to ten. But the page count is one hundred and
twenty pages. And that ain't a ten.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Page that's a five issue book.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, that's a five issue book. So perhaps you know,
we'll get some sort of clarity, and you know, perhaps
you know, this will just sort of be at Doctor
their Chaos Agent trade paperback volume one, and then we'll
get you know, in twenty twenty six, we'll get issued six, seven, eight, nine,
and ten, and then a second trade second volume of
that trade paperback. Who knows, We will say, of course,
you know, I do think that a character like doctor
(05:14):
Afra would be wonderfully suited for a Hyperspace Stories mini series.
Oh yeah, dark, yeah, you know, so we'll see if
that ever comes to past. It'd be kind of cool though.
Uh So, there you go. So that's that's the big
news we would like, I said, we won't be there,
but we will be following it live, you know, you know,
we'll we'll find a couple of the old reliables who
will be in attendance and mirror their mirror their their
(05:38):
social media postings with full credit of course. And then
you know, as always, star Wars dot Com is really
good about sort of putting up a quick summary of
you know, the publishing panel event within an hour or so,
and of course we'll we'll immediately post haste to get
that onto all of the social media feeds that we operate.
(05:59):
Other than that, no other real news. However, I did
notice something fun and this is on the Blue Sky
page on the end, on the Facebook page. Was rereading
some Uncanny x Men on Marvel Unlimited over the weekend
and got to issue one seventy four and opened the
book and there's a scene of Kitty Pride sitting on
(06:21):
the bed with lockeed on her shoulder, and she is
reading Star Wars Volume one, number seventy three, so it's
very meta, so very nice. I put a couple of
I put a screen drab of that panel as well
as the cover to Star Wars seventy three and X
Men seventy four so you could see it. And then
other than that, we finally got the cover art for
(06:43):
January twenty eighth Star Wars Hyperspace Stories The Bad Batch
Rogue Agents number two of four looks really cool. And
then of course dark Horse has delayed publishing by a
week for the Grievous original graphic novel and the Codebreakers
trade paperback collecting the four issue mini series, so those
are now due out March tenth and March seventeenth, and yeah,
(07:06):
but everything else is still you know, set to come out.
And the time it was time, it.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Was said, all right, well, good to know. Yeah, if
that's it for the news, we'll take a short break.
We'll be back to discuss Tides of Terror number two outstanding.
All right, now, I will admit in reading this book,
it's been a little while since we got issue one,
so it took me until about page seven or eight
(07:35):
to remember what had happened. In the last issue.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Yeah, unfortunately, this book has has been been played by
by some delays and just you know, I mean, you know,
I mean to the point like it's like it's like
been almost eight weeks per you know, between issues.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I thought so because I was looking, I was like,
these people vaguely familiar. Then as I was getting into it,
I thought, okay, and you know what, I actually really
enjoyed this issue. It's nice to see Jedi underwater, like
you know, it's it's sort of like they're sort of
like the super Friends they but literally, yeah, they have
these two uh, these two Jedi who can function underwater,
(08:11):
who are able to go in and and and fight off,
and we get some really nice, really cool underwater action,
which you know, we all know. I'm not the biggest
fan of just action in comics without dialogue. Man, the
way this is done and the ingenuity with which they've
thought through this all is just a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Oh, totally, totally So anyway, this is Tides of Terror,
Part two before Evacuation, written by George Mann, penciled by
Luis Moros, show inked by LeBeau Underwood, colored by my
letterd by Common Crafts Tyler Smith and Jimmy Baiton Court
with The cover art is by Edward o'mello with Valentina Todeo.
(08:51):
Dark Horse publisher is Mike Richardson. The Editor of this
book is Spencer Cushing. The assistant editor is Joe Kavanaugh.
The designer is Rebecca Shee. Digital art technician is Aja Newell.
Pre press is Jake Johnson. For Lucasfilm, we have created
director Michael sigline editor Grace Arris, Senior editor Robert Simpson,
art director Troy Alders, creative art manager Phil Shostack, and
from the story group, we've got Matt Martin, Pablo Hidalgo,
(09:13):
and Emily Scocannie. Uh So, yeah, we are back. You know,
it's we're on the actual research station and you know
it's about to flood and field recall from last issue,
there's a lot of giant sea creatures swimming around. It's
not a pleasant place to be at the moment. Normally
it's quite pleasant and a lot of fun, which is
why there's a lot of people there to begin with.
Uh And so the Jedi are essentially managing an evacuation
(09:36):
with shock t you know, basically channeling Kevin Bacon from
the end of Animals.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
All this well, and meanwhile we have people jettisoning, jettisoning
escape pods that are only like less than half full,
which comes back.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
To oh totally yeah, oh exactly. And it's just went
a wait wait, you know, you know, because Mace WNDO
is coming up to a group going no, no, wait, there's
been no evacuation order. Now you're scared, but everything's gonna
be okay. Please please don't press it deep. I'm sorry.
I have to get out of here for anything else
goes wrong. So and so it's something what's going on
here is you know, it's Kit Fisto and his padawan
(10:10):
are just you know, they're trying to figure out what's
going on, you know, because not ours like Master Fisto,
what about the people out there in the water. And
you know, you know, one of the quarn is like,
it's too late for them the dwarfin and and Kit
Kit Kit realizes is too I mean this was a
little bit like whoa, you know, he says they are
one with the force in the door. I sense their loss,
Chief Scooth. We must now prevent further death and try
(10:31):
to quell the panic. Can the station be secured, and
of course Chief Scooth, who is the corn is just
a little bit uh you know, oh god. So and
then we get this big creek and Kit, who is
normally very smiling, that didn't sound good, and the chief
is just like engineering report, now, what the blazes is
(10:51):
going on down there? And then we get something that
just you know, kind of reminded me of Star Trek
with Scott. You know, we have a breach, Chief, a breach.
The blast doors have been tampered with water coming in
and fast. What do you mean, Tamford with Maitland? Maitland,
can you hear me? The comms are dead? And he
screws like did you hear that? Kit's like I heard,
and and Nadar is like, first the supporting the blast doors,
now the COM's going down. It must be sabotaged. Well duh,
(11:15):
someone is trying to destroy the station. Uh yeah, And
that's essentially what they're finding out here. So finally, Kit,
you know, manages to convince the chief, look, we got
to do a full scale evacuation now, and he's like,
all right, consider it done. Get word to Master's windowing
Shock t They'll help you coordinate everyone getting to safety.
Well what about you, thus we're going to go see
to that breach. Uh. And so what transpires is Kit
(11:38):
smiling again, flashing them pearlies, you know, you know, we
gotta get everything back up and you know, so you know,
you know, he's down there with Maitland trying to get
the controls restored, you know, and everything sort of you know,
back to ship shape at least to enable a study evacuation.
And then we just see these fins come swimming by
(11:58):
in the in the control control room where they all are.
So it's like, oh boy, cue the Jaws theme.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yeah, and that's not good.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
No, But the padawan, you know, he does he does
his he does his job. He uses the force and
he you know, he's able to sort of manipulate them
around and uh, you know, sort of take him out
in a sense. Although you know, this kid is having
to deal with the attack, but thanks to his padawan,
it's a you know, it's all's well that ends. Well,
this is an all ages bug, so it's not like
(12:28):
you know, plus we know how Kit Fisto you know,
meets his end. So here uh and you know, so
you know, they they've they've they've you know, they've got
it pretty much squared, but the water is still rising, uh,
you know, and Maitland is like, look, the saboteur has
locked us out completely. The only way to close those
doors is to do it manually. And kit fist is like,
(12:49):
all right, so be it Nadar with me. Uh And
then Maitland's like, but what about those car carros down there?
And of course the car Carros being you know, the fish,
you know, you know, nice, nice and derivative of the
the Latin word ark, and kid just like, well, we'll
just have to charm them with our winning smiles. So
and perhaps a couple of lightsabers that always comes that
(13:09):
that's always a nice thing. And we get this great
two page spread of Nadar and Fisto trying to deal
with the with the Cakaros, but also with essentially the
Star Wars version of a giant squid. It is where
we sort of veer into twenty thousand leagues territory. And
I gotta tell you, I'm all for it.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Yeah, I'm not mad at it. Yeah. I really really
thought this was great because we get this one, this
giant squid that it looks like it's uh tentacles are
just stretching because uh Nadar is fighting against it and
everything and and again you know, he he almost meets
his in, but Fisto he is able to come to
his rescue and they get they get him knocked out
of the out of the out of the door and
(13:47):
they get it closed, and Kit said, the Maitland says, oh,
you're still alive, and Kid says, of course you're still alive.
We're Jedi, and he says uh. Then the pat Win says,
we wouldn't be monsters have their ways. Details, Padawan details,
But then he says, you know, closing the doors is
really just a patch. We got to figure out what's
going on. We got to meet reach Master's window and
(14:08):
shock tea. It says, only hope the evacuation plan is
going to plan, and we cut to Mace window is
saying this evacuation is not going to plan. And I
laughed out loud when I read it. Yeah, learned there's
not enough seats for everybody else because too many people
jettison before the pods were full earlier. And they're just
basically saying, take as many people as you can and
(14:30):
we'll we'll take care of the rest. And uh. So
as they're as they're setting the uh the escape pods
out into the water, they start getting may Day's from
people the controls have failed and they're just kind of
a drift and it's one, but it looks like there
is several here, and uh they're saying, you know, you
(14:51):
just have to hold on, just stick with us. We'll
come back for you as soon as we delivered our
passengers to the surface. And he says, you don't understand.
It's right beneath us and looking down there these this
I can't tell is it one or is it several?
Because if you look on digital page.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Eighteen, it's several.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
It's several. And is this the same ship that's just
going in and out of their mouths or is it
three different ships?
Speaker 2 (15:15):
That's what's kind of confusing to me. I'm not entirely sure,
you know, because the way it's drawn, to me, it's
three different ships. That's what I was Mayday, it's got us,
please help, you know, and and to me it looks
like you have all these differing orphan so but you know,
but then you turn the page and the yeah, you're right,
you know, because it is all these different sorphan Because
(15:36):
then we see all these multiple you know, escape pod shuttles,
ships being chased by multiple orphan.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
So well there there you go. Yeah, so they tell
them to take evasive action, which doesn't work. The orphans
are coming, and the kid asked the chief, you should
have evacuated with master window and the others, and the
chief says, well, I abandoned my station. My people was
sort of chief with that make.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Me sco is like, you know, what are you doing here?
You know, because you know our kid is looking at
at why are you here? You should have evacuated with
windowing the others and abandoned my station, my people, what
sort of cheap would that make me? An understandable one
Kit says it was brave of you to stay. And
then of course, oh I listen here. So you said
(16:19):
you'd protect us. Yeah, you're supposed to keep as safe.
We're all gonna die. It's good. Say look you listen here,
and you listen, well, the station will not fall. It
is the duty of those of us gather here to
protect each other, to work as a team, to ensure
our own survival and make sure that whoever this suboteur
is they will be found, and of course that's what
we see someone in the shadows. And this person appears
(16:41):
to me to be a saboteur because she comes up
up behind Maitland, uh you know, and of course say
she's as she's doing this or they are doing this.
You know, we have scoothed going and whatever it is
they hope to achieve will stop them. And you know,
the asat the sebateur definitely stops Maitland, cracks him on
the back head and probably you know, knocks them uncon
(17:01):
which we cut back to screw it, fist On, Nadar,
what do you bink? It can't be good. All the
lights go out.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
And so as as as the lights should.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Again any moment, there's nothing to worry about.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
All is well.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
It comes back on. And then the thing starts creaking
and it starts just falling over in the water. And
they figured out they're flooding. Says three viewing ports in
the gallery have blown, so they're letting in water. And
something tells me they probably had some help. And the
chief says, what do we do? It says we in
Fisto says we need to catch our saboteur. But first
(17:37):
we need to deal with these monsters, and that's where
we get our to be continued.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Exactly because the Giant Squid is back, and you know,
and I don't know if this was an intentional homage
to uh to Piranha and Space nineteen ninety nine. I'm
kind of hoping it is.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
All right, So yeah, really really enjoyed this book. We'll
take a short breaking be back to discuss Han Solo
Hunt for the Falcon. Yay, and we are back. Let's
talk a little bit about Han Solo The Hunt for
the Falcon issue number two of five.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Let's do it all right, Well, first off, this is
the Battle with the Irving Boys. Now, if you are
unfamiliar with the first issue, this is essentially this is
set in the sequel trilogy era. This is before the
events of the Force Awakens, but obviously after the events
of Return of the Jedi. Well beyond the events of
Return of the Jedi. We are neck deep in the
(18:33):
New Republic. Han is older. He's feeling a bit adrift.
You know, kylo Is or Ben is not in his
life anymore. Lea is not really in his life anymore,
and he's lost the Falcon, which was in you know,
obviously a very interesting subplot, I think to the Force awakens,
you know, with the Falcon being on Jakku and you know,
(18:55):
Han and Chewie making their appearance going, hey we found it.
We're home, so you know. But so this is onn
Solo Hunt for the Falcon Part two. Han Solo has
reached a point in his life where it seems that
all his best adventures are behind him. By losing his
prize ship, the Millennium Falcon, he lost his way. Deciding
he would need his ship back to feel like himself,
he has searched across the galaxy trying to find it,
(19:15):
bringing his old friend Jewbacca along for the quest. Meanwhile,
it's the unscrupulous Dukane who may have information on the
whereabouts of the coveted ship. This is written by Rodney Barnes.
The art is by Ramon Rosana's colors are by Guru
E Effects. Letters are by Virtual Calligraphies Joe Caramanya Rosannas
and Guru Effects handled the main cover. Variant covers are
(19:36):
by Carlo Pagulian, Jason Poz and Rayan Barrito, as well
as Ken Lashley and one Fernandez. Carlos Lau is the
book designer. Adam Delray is the logo designer, and it's
a cool logo. Mikey J. Basso is our assistant editor,
Mark Paniczia our editor, and CB Sebalski the editor in
chief for Lucasfilm Again. Robert Simpson, Grace Arris, Michael Siglen,
(19:58):
Troy Alders, Phil Showstack, and then the story groups Pablo Hudelgo,
Matt Martin, and Emily Shukhani. Look, I like this book.
I like it a lot because.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
I am still unsure.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Okay, well, I'm going to tell you why I like
it because it appeals to me as a fifty five
year old guy, you know, knowing full well that i'm
you know who, knowing full well that I am in
the back half of my life. You know, so I
looked back at a lot of things, you know, with
not much regret, but with fond memory. And then I also,
(20:32):
you know, take stock personally of like, all right, well
where am I? And you know, have I met my goals?
But you know that I set when I was young
and stupid, yes and no, and and that's why I
can really relate to Han here. You know, because you
had you know, I had a great car. You know,
I had this awesome car when I was in my twenties.
I love that car. It's a seventy one Carmen Gia
(20:53):
convertible and I just I felt bulletproof of that car.
I loved having it, and then ultimately I had to
get rid of it, you know, because it just you know,
it wasn't needed and one useful and was not practical.
It was not practical. But man, you know, you know,
I know I'm looking at it through rose tented glasses,
but I really enjoyed that car. And it was just
(21:14):
a car, you know, it wasn't you know it, It
was just a car.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
And we may have hit on why I'm not responding
to this book as much. My first car was in
nineteen ninety one, Toyota Corolla in nineteen ninety three, So.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Well that's it. Yeah, we've solved it right then.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
And I've always had sensible vehicles. But no, and I
get that, and I understand that, but for me, it's
more the storytelling more than the story itself. This issue,
to me just felt like the last issue felt like
we were spinning our wheels. This issue feels like we're
spinning our wheels waiting for the story to get started.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Okay, okay, but see that's the thing that's about this
issue is that I like you because I mean, we
open up with Chewy that's talking to Lea, and you
know he's he's he's soliciting her advice. You know, like,
you know, what am I doing here? Why am I?
Why am I out on this trip? You know, I
know I had the life, but come on, you know
how many times have I saved his life? Uh? And
Lea is being very forthright you look, no, don't I
(22:08):
know it? The fire were you? I'd get back to
Mala and she was like, oh, I get it. Your partners,
but we all have obligations chewing and family has to
come first, which is very fitting given the fact you
know that you know what happens what we know happens
to Ben right, So uh, you know, and so you know,
Hank comes and interrupts, and you can tell that he
(22:28):
and lay are still not speaking because you know, he
truly disconnects the Holo call before Han can really step in.
So he's just like marriage counseling. Yeah, well that's important,
but we got to focus to it. This is our
chance to get thinks back to the way that we're
the Falcons in that ceed warehouse somewhere, and security was
tough enough the first time. Even with the two of us,
it's not going to be easy. But we've never been
(22:48):
this close to getting the falcon back. We can't let
her slip through our hands. And so, you know, the
two of them land on oscartoon. You know, they're trying
to sort of basically do this heist. You know, say, look,
you get pass the security protocols and keep an eye
out for whoever's keeping watch in and out. Easy, no
big deal at all. Oh me anxious. Never, I'm calm
with it. Never, how's it going? Oep No, it's not good.
(23:10):
Roar And then boom, yeah, didn't work. And the two
of them get attacked by security drawings and so and
uh just do they get cornered. You know, they're they're
stuck in a firefight. It's like old times. You know,
it's literally like they're on the Death Star the first time. Uh,
you know, firing at stormtroopers and uh, you know, just uh,
it's it's just, you know, nothing seems to go right
(23:31):
for the two of them, and uh, it doesn't. And
of course that's where we find out Ducane. They finally
find Ducane after a close second. Canis Ducane? Right? I
know that voice? Han, I'll never forget the voice of
a former co pilot. Let me explain, and a lot
o where's my ship? And he's like, you guess as
good as fine, and Han just you know, kicks him
(23:52):
down the you know, just kicks him. Answer me, I
got where the falcon was here. Obviously it's not the
irving boys. This is on them. Those two bids want
to be mugglers. I've heard about they're cheating a card
game on timber odd. I can get you a seat
on the table. You'll do me when better? You're coming
with us? I can't. If every boy see me, they'll
kill me. Well, Ducane, you can die now or later.
(24:13):
The choice is yours. And we get a very ominous
girl from Chewie holding his bowcaster dead at Duquage's chest.
So so, not only do they bring Ducane along, but
they make him ride in the cargo hold you know
the ship. Sorry about the cramped conditions. Can't have you
roaming around the ship, let me out. I hate tight
places right for stealing ships considered practice or whatever penal
(24:36):
colony you'll end up on some day. And then we
get this great flashback and this is this.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Is really it's really nice. It's nice to see the
family happy.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Yeah. So, I mean it's.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
What a single page, Yeah, just a single page of
them happy with with Kylo sitting at the at the
at the.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Thes and young Ben solo and not quite a toddler,
what probably six seven years old maybe.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Yeah, and then Han lets him put the ship into hyperspace. So,
and I like the detail they've got the they've got
the rectangular uh satellite disharray up there instead of the
which is cool. So it's cool as it should be.
And so they arrive and uh they have a cathel
out back and he makes his way in and says,
(25:21):
this spot taken seats in yours.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
So excited that the athlete the caf all out back.
So Cathol was part of this wonderful uh area that's
you know, in the Dark Strider campaign from the Old
West End Games RPG. So I was very excited about this. Yeah.
So you know they're they're at the card game with
the Irving boys, you know, and Ducaine is left in
(25:44):
the ship. Uh, and we finally get to see the
Irving boys. I really got this. This is kind of
kind of cool.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
And of course one of them has a has a
has a card up a sleeve always, but that doesn't
matter because uh, Ducaine has got has made his way
out and basically rats them out to the security guards
and the security security details shows up and Chewy of
course opens fire from from a hidden position, and Han
(26:12):
gets out with the brothers. With the Irving Brothers, they
get out together and only to realize that Ducane has
stolen their ship again, has stolen Han and Chewy ship again,
so they have to leave with the Irving Brothers. And
the last image we have is the Irving Brothers in
their cockpits saying we made it, and Han and chewey
(26:34):
behind them with their guns drawn and Han saying, start talking.
And that's where we get our to be continued. And
that's why this just feels very Obviously it's supposed to
feel episodic because each issue is an episode, but it
just feels like, so we get these, we get these
these eight to ten issue episode like you know, limited series,
precise series or whatever, and it's all build up until
(26:56):
the last episode and then everything gets tied together.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
I despise that, and I'm afraid that that's what this
feels like to me so far. I'm I'm I'm not
throwing it out out the window yet, but that's kind
of what it felt like to me.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Okay, well, that's fair enough. And unfortunately we only have
five issues to get this, to get this really built up.
I mean, of course, I think we're also limited because
you know, we know where the falcon ends up right,
and I think that can be sometimes a gatekeeping factor
for for the creative team, you know, because they have
to fit it nicely within this. You know, that's what's
(27:34):
already come before, and don't forget, you know. We also
had some stories about about about some of this, uh
in some of the the letters and the books that
came out ahead of the Force Awakens, as well as
some tales and Star Wars adventures. So but we'll see,
we'll see what goes on. Yeah, we'll see, we'll see
how it come again.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
I and again, if if they're building character and it's
going to come in at the end, great, I'm I'm
I'm withholding judgment. I just I did not really enjoy
what happened in the life two issues. I was looking
for a little more, a little more story, okay, but
if this is about character, that's fine. I'll get on board.
It's great, you know. Like I said, I'm looking forward
to it.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I did.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
Like I said, I did like the image of them,
you know, happy, and I like that we're dealing with
the issues of Chewbacca being away from his family and
things like that. So you know, maybe they'll win me
over in the next issue. I'm sure that they will.
With that, we will take another short break and we'll
be back to discuss these solicits for next week. Absolutely,
(28:32):
all right, Matt, what doll we get for next week?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
We only have one new book and that's on Wednesday,
October fifteenth, and that's the Legacy of Ader number nine. However,
on Tuesday, October fourteenth, we are getting the High Republic
Fear of the Jedi Trade paperback, which is going to
collect that five issue mini series as well as The
High Republic the finale one shot, so it's actually six
issues and that's all we got.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
All right, Well, we'll be back next week to discuss
that book and anything else that happens at New York
Comic on between now and then until then. For Star
Wars splash Page, I'm Jeff, I'm.
