amazing singer. We're so glad to have today over the phone,
Deja Leoni, Dejah, how are you today?
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I am doing very well. How are you?
Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'm wonderful. Thank you so much for being with us.
So I would love to know more about yourself. Can
you tell us where you're from and how did you
stop music?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Yes? Absolutely, so I am from Maryville, Indiana. I'm from Maryville, Indiana,
and I started writing music when when I was a
little girl. But when I was seventeen, I recorded my
first hit. It was called Round and it's actually going
to be a re release. So I've been making music
for a very long time now.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
And we love that you do music. Can we love
what you are doing? Who are the audists of the
singers who have inspired you?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Honestly, Beyonce, She's my number one, she is my idol.
Also Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, those are some of my favorites.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Well, you are signing really the greatest, so you know
there's no wonder that there's no doubt that you're also
sounding amazing, you know, because you've been listening to the greatest.
So now first forwarding to your new tracks. Something I
can feel, I love it. I love it is between Parenthises.
So can you tell us what is the story of
(01:52):
that song?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Well, the story behind the track is I encountered something
that was very rare and real and it all came
together when I heard the beat and then the words
just started flowing to me. And it was based off
of a very real experience that I had. Then I'll never.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Forget and we were so glad you made that song
and sharing that beautiful feeling. So what is your working process?
We can you tell us more about it, like how
do you put together a song and how do you work?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Usually I have to be completely alone to work, I
have to be completely alone and I have to be
in my zone. I'm talking about no background noise, just me,
my pen and paper in the beat. And it's so
funny because sometimes it could take me over the course
of two weeks to finish a song. It could take
a year. I had one song that took me two
(02:47):
years to finish writing because that's how long it took
for the words to come to me.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Wow, and it took the right time. Because your new
song is absolutely wonderful, something I can't feel. So before
we start to say goodbye to each other, what are
your next projects?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
The next project that I have is actually a re release.
It's called Round and it's coming out on April twenty fourth.
It's going to be streaming on all streaming services Apple Music, Spotify,
and YouTube. It's called Round.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Well, we would be there definitely to listen and to,
as you say, broadcast this beautiful new track of yours.
But right now we have something I can feel, so
you stay have a minute. Would you like to say
something to our audience at a positive message?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Perhaps, Guys, just keep going when it comes to your dream,
when it comes to what God is put on your heart,
no matter what, just keep going and don't stop until
it's done. God bless you guys.
