Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon, Welcome on the Culture News.
My name is David Sai Roy and have the pleasure
to have today on Lightheart Radio a wonderful music producer.
His name is Tony Calls. Tony Coles. Calls is spelled
c l e S. He has a new album. He's

(00:21):
a wonderful music producer. He has a new album coming
out this Friday called six w A six w A
and we are so glad to have him today on
the show. Tony, how are you today?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I'm great, I'm great. There are you?

Speaker 1 (00:37):
I'm doing wonderful. Thank you so much for being with us.
So first question I have for you? Can you please
tell us who are you? Where are you from? And
how did you start music?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, Well I'm I'm really just a
chill dude from Dallas four words. I grew up in
Northfolk Works, you know, Norfaltern Hills. I was in band
for most of my life, you know, up in church
and everything. You know, play played for the church choir
and piano, drums, you know, the whole nine. You know
what I'm saying. So I've always been musically inclined and

(01:09):
always around music. Loved music. You know, my dad taught
me drums at two years old. My mom was a
choir director, and you know, it's always been just you know,
in my life, and so, you know, producing just kind
of came along a little later when I was in
high school, kind of just dabbling in it, you know,
because of some friends I had, you know, they had
you know, the garage band on their phone and everything,

(01:30):
but eventually turned into a passion later on. I graduated
in twenty eighteen. I probably started taking it seriously for
myself in like twenty nineteen, and you know, you know,
out of being about the boom, here we are exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I love your energy, man, and we're so glad that
your path led you to where you are today. What
are the music influences the Autis have inspired you the most?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
The most growing up for sure is like Zappa, Roger
Stevie Wan Under, Michael Jackson, James Brown, like the Heavy Hitters.
Just you know, I never grew up listening to rap
music or you know, you know, like the whole Kanye
West era or early even the early nineties stuff like
I'm never like I just listened to the Graduation Album

(02:18):
by Kanye probably like a month ago for the first time,
you know, so a lot of my idols are going
to be in you know that seventies, eighties, you know,
kind of era really due to my parents, and a
lot of gospel music too as well, like Marvin Sath
listened a lot of Marvin South growing up. I'm trying
to think who else there is? Fred Hammond growing up,

(02:40):
Kirk Franklin of course, you know, so that's really mostly
where my music inspiration, musical ear comes from. And you know,
people organized at church, instrumentalists at church too, you know,
the church's urators I grew up in definitely played a
hand in that.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
While you were listening definitely to the best. So that
tell us about this new album of your sixth w
A what the title means and also what can we
find on this album?

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Yes, sir, so sixth w A six w A means
you know a lot to the group. You know, it's
it's a it's a it's a collab. It's a label
collab album with Big X and his artist that he
has on his roster. And so really what it is is, honestly,
it was it's a it was just really like a
fun idea, you know what I'm saying, Like it's like,

(03:33):
why don't we just do a spin on the nineties
Stom We all love the old school nineties Bob, the music,
you know what I'm saying, the aesthetic of that time,
you know what I'm saying. So we all just thought
we could take it to the to the next level,
you know, doing our own little twist on it. But
it's also you know, it's not just a tape, it's
not just music six w A. It's it's like a family,
it's a movement. It's unity, you know what I'm saying,

(03:53):
Like as far as all of us working together to
you know, achieve this goal, you know, and show the
world who we really are are, you know, beyond music,
you know. So you know, the point we're trying to
get across with this tape is definitely authentic. Authenticity, authenticity,
you know what I'm saying, Like, this is this is
this tape is pure creativity, you know, all the while

(04:16):
trying to give respect to the West Coast. You know,
we already have some you know, some artists you know
pay respect to the tape and like you know, Snoop Dogg,
d O C. And so on. So we're really excited
about it, and you know, we're excited for the people
to hear you know, real you know, real music is back.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
So yes, definitely, some heavyweights are in on the West coast.
You know, you you name the best, you know, Snoop
Dog is definitely read. You know, I made him a
couple of times and and word yeah yeah. When you
meet him, you feel so much intelligence and he's you know,

(04:58):
he might look like the guy who smoking, but many
he has such a strong work ethic. He's twenty four seven,
and you don't get that success and that consistency and
that longevity in the business right without you know, being
number one on everything you know, So really big shout
out to Snoop. We love you so now fast forwarding,

(05:24):
fast forwarding to this great, great, great, great great new
album of yours six double U Way, what do you
expect people to take away with it? And what are
your next project? Before we start to say goodbye to each.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Other, Yes, sir, with this tape, we want people really
just to be able to receive it. Well you know
what I'm saying, Like, you know, you're always going to
have the negative people who say, you know, oh, they
taking this or you know we you know you are
authentic or you know there's always nay sairis you know

(05:57):
what I'm saying. But we know what we came to do.
We know what we did with this tape, and all
we want people to do is just vib out and
just receive it well and really get a listen to
what authentic you know, music is. Like there's been no
there's no label like you know, as far as the
creative side of all this, there's been no you know,

(06:19):
labels say. So you know what I'm saying. So this
is all pure purely the team, purely you know X,
the whole six hundred roster. You know what I'm saying,
Like we're all we all work together. You know what
I'm saying, Like this isn't just you know my tape.
You know you've been saying, it's it's it's a whole.
It's it's unity, like I said, And so I want
them to take away that and like I said, authenticity

(06:40):
from this tape for sure.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Absolutely, And we will be there to support you, to
support your music. And congratulations again for everything you're doing,
