wait for the draft until then, draft talk? Right? Uh yeah,
(00:28):
Al's out today doing uh work stufffor uh right, not for the site,
but his own work stuff. Souh save travels, I don't Yeah,
man, stay Alan, stay Alan? Right? Yeah? Yeah,
yeah, yeah. Man. Know, like I said, we're gonna jump
(00:51):
into this draft talk talk some uhtop prospect, that's your opinion on some
things, and uh then we're gonnajump in to a little bit of you
know, we got the the Finalfour going on, but uh, I
don't know about you, but dueto all the one and done in men's
basketball that the ladies final four iskind of more entertaining to me. All
(01:14):
right, but we're gonna get youropinion on some some things, one thing
in particular, but uh okay, yeah man, you know, as always,
you can find us. You knowwhere you find your favorite podcast,
uh and those of you listening audiocan find us everywhere out there. You
know what it looks, and youcan also find us on YouTube. Give
(01:36):
a subscribe, follow comment, letus know what you think. Man.
Uh, but jumping right into it, man, Kate Williams your I guess,
I guess it's safe to say yourquarterback, uh, quarterback. And
so we hit the turn generational talenttossed around right. So Lincoln actually asked
(02:02):
me this question, Well, thisquestion answer came from a conversation, so
he asked, it's it's Kate Williamsthe best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck.
M And I was like, itjust kind of cemented to me how we
(02:23):
toss around that generational talent. Ilove Williams m hm. So I will
ask you Caleb Williams is the bestquarterback prospect since filling the blank, I
would say Andrew Luck as well,m M. Because I mean it didn't
(02:46):
dawn on me, but I guesswhen people were when I was hearing it,
Andrew Luck, Andrew Luck. AndI mean, of course Trevor was
a great prospect as well, hejust hadn't like et cetera entertainer says,
it's curle just hadn't quite curled yet. I mean, but he's still playing,
you know, great ball, buthe hadn't reached that level of Okay,
(03:10):
this is what we thought he wasgoing to be, you know,
so and and Andrew Luck was thatreally coming out the gate? You know?
So? So I mean I thinkthey went to the playoffs first year.
I mean, like c J.Stroud, However, c J.
Stroud wasn't regarded as that quote unquotegenerational guy until now. So it's it's
(03:35):
it's Cale Williams a better prospect.Okay, So this is that's the trouble.
I had to forget about what weknow about them as pros, right,
not only knowing what we knew aboutthem as prospects correct, because that's
difficult to do, right. Soit's Cale wi a better prospect then out
(03:58):
start there with with that better prospectthan Trevor Lawrence, not knowing what Trevor
is done in the pros like justcoming out, Well, I guess that's
kind of yeah, yeah, yeah, that's kind of like to me,
I may would say. But thething is, if you go back and
(04:19):
look at it, and when they'recoming out, he was Trevor was everybody's
number one. You know what I'msaying even though they were saying, hey,
he's one ay and feels this oneB. However, it was a
consensus that Trevor was everyone's number one. But if we go back and look
at what people are saying, now, Ko's not everyone's number one. So
(04:45):
I guess if you look at itin that aspect, it's hard for him
to be, you know, thebest prospect since X, y Z,
you know. So, But tome, I would say, yes,
it's my personal prospect than Joe Burrow. Mm hmm. That's tough. That's
tough. That's that's again. Quarterbacks, that's that's that's that's tough. I
(05:14):
forgot about got about Broadway Joe Man, Joe cool. That's tough because and
and I can't say yes because Joe, Yeah, he had like stupid talent
around him. But I remember theywere saying, Joe was really done with
college for a year and a halfand all he could do was study and
(05:36):
study film, and so he wasalready he was already you know, acting
in a pro aspect for the lastyear and a half before he even graduated.
So all the nuances and that Joe, Joe was on it. That's
why he threw sixty touchdowns, right, correct, So I mean I can't
say yes to that that it is, especially like without the benefit of results
(06:05):
and without knowing what Cayler Williams hasCayler Williams has in store force m hm,
and knowing what those other guys havealready done the first three or four
years. It's just tough. That'stough. Yeah. And so Dan Lincoln
(06:26):
asked me who he's the best sinceI've been doing like covering the draft,
Who's who's the best prospect you've everseen, like just as a prospect,
not as a pro and I prospectmine? I told him mine was was
Cam Newton. Cam Newton, Okay, okay, I probably would and I'll
(06:50):
go back man and we And thatwas tough, and every every yeah,
but and everybody thought Ryan Leif wasgonna be m phenomenal, you know what
I'm saying, even though he washe had everything, you know what I'm
saying, And Leave had everything. And JaMarcus Russell was a great prospect.
(07:13):
He just didn't have the work ethic, you know, I mean Michael Vick,
you know, he just didn't goin and and do the film study.
But like prospect wise, hey,he was off the charts, you
know, I guess me, Iprobably would say, and because I didn't
really think Cam was gonna go numberone, because I knew Cam was good,
(07:40):
but I didn't really I wasn't reallysold with Cam. Like when he
came out and did that his rookieyear, I was in awe because I
didn't really see that in Cam asa as a as a passer. But
he proved me wrong ten games intothis, you know, game one,
I think he threw four in theyards or something against Arizona, you know,
(08:01):
so orders game two. So butI probably would say going back and
looking at it, I probably wouldsay I probably would say I probably would
say luck dam you know, Imean only because Cam surprised me. So
(08:24):
I wasn't really igh on Cam,not as in the number one, but
I was high on Luck, youknow, as the number one guy.
So he came out and he didhis thing, So I would say Luck
okay, Yeah, And I guesslike Cam to me, I guess like
I guess the way he carried histeam a lot, like like the Intangibles
(08:45):
kind of kind of sold me Cam. Okay, you did have I forgot
the dude's name, say it didn'tlike cam smile, so he smiled too
much. Like that was crazy tome. Yeah, but it goes to
show you how much we build theseguys up just to tear him down six
six months before the draft. Soyeah, so I know this one of
(09:07):
the questions we have on the dockets. So who what's the which quarter I
guess you mentioned Ryan Leef, butI'm asking which which quarterback were you the
most wrong about? I thought hewas just can't yes, yeah, mm
hmmm, mm hmmm. A guythat was just can't miss. However,
(09:37):
missed starting off if I could sayrecently, but he's really turned himself around.
Was was was? It was probablyshaking bake a baker you know recently.
Yeah, but he, like Isaid, he turned himself around.
(10:00):
I wasn't how on Zach but myself, Yeah, Zach Wilson, I guess,
man, let me oh man, because I don't really I guess probably
man, I probably got a puntof that a little more because I want
(10:22):
to say I would go ahead andsay I will go ahead and say JaMarcus
Russell. Though Okay, I willgo ahead and say, yeah, I
would say JaMarcus Russell. But Imean I wasn't saying, but he had
the generational attributes, So, man, I thought it was gonna be I
(10:45):
thought it was gonna be pretty good. I had no idea that he was
lazy like that. You know,I knew he was a young kid,
but you know, he was justthought out lazy Jesus hyeah. A lot
of talent in the world. Mmhmmm. Yeah, man, I mean,
I guess from Recncy bias and andand team bias, and because I
(11:07):
had the glass wearing the glasses, drinking the kool aid, I said,
Kenny Pickett can picket. It wasn'ta bumb though, any wasn't it,
man, You know, he wasn'tit? But not a bum though.
Yeah. Yeah, but you know, they hit you a little harder when
it don't work out as your team. But oh yeah, you know,
(11:28):
I know, man, he's gotthat Matt Canada staying on it, so
that didn't happen. But yeah,I mean, yeah, JaMarcus Russell's hard
to beat like that. But Iwasn't the biggest JaMarcus Russell fan. I
guess, and I guess this guykind of turned it around to But I
thought I thought, you know,Smith was gonna be. Yeah. Yeah,
(11:52):
I thought, you know, comein lighting the league up. I
thought Gino too. Yeah, soI guess he'd be, but he's kind
of turned it around later in hiscareer. Yeah, that's why I didn't
bring you know, I guess thesame thing with him and Baker. Yeah.
Way you talk about Baker, I'llsay Josh Allen, I didn't.
(12:16):
I didn't think much of Josh Allencoming either, and literally really because the
things that quarterbacks usually fixed, liketiming and accuracy was horrible coming out.
Mm hmmm. So you know, for him to improve on those things,
(12:37):
you know by huge margins something youever see. Uh right, he's one
of them on the other side thatI thought wasn't gonna pan out, And
I agree, I agree with that. Yeah, what's leads me to this
question? There's the other the otherbig name in this draft, and he's
not even necessarily everybody's number one.We talked about this last episode, Marvin
(13:03):
Harrison Junior. Mm hm, thebest wide receiver prospect since mm hmmm prospect.
Right there, they go ahead againwith that. I probably would say
(13:24):
I probably would say I probably wouldsay maybe, and AJ Green, I'll
probably say aj you know a guythat you just really thought couldn't miss.
I mean, I knew Chase wasthat guy. However, you know,
(13:48):
when he didn't play that last season, he was kind of like almost forgotten
about. You know, I thinkhe still was the number one wide receiver
taken was it? So? Andand Justin Jefferson. I knew he was,
you know, pretty good, especiallyas he touched us in the championship
game, but I didn't think hewas that good. You know, I
(14:11):
didn't think he was that good.So man, just going back thinking about
wide outs, you know, Rugsand all those guys win in the first
round, Jaylen Waddle and you know, I'm just thinking about recent but a
guy that you knew, I probablysay a J A j Oh, Yeah,
(14:39):
that's a good one, like mmhmm, J J. Green before
or after Major Tron. That's whatI was trying to think. But I
have to say I have to sayhe was after Tron mm hmm, because
it definitely I would have said Tronbecause Trun Yeah that's a whole and I
(15:01):
ain't seen he would be. Hewould be like the equivalent of the camera
question, the best stop. Youdon't have to say prospect. Yeah,
probably a J and they were thesame draft, so they were yeah mm
(15:30):
hmm, wow went before a Jbecause they moved up to what to none
or four? A J went beforeand they traded up after after the Bengals
selected a J. They traded theirwhole draft. I forgot about Who's I
(15:52):
forgot about who's so yeah, I'mtrying. You're right either one? Yeah,
you know the chase was amazing,Yes, justin Jefferson was was was
great as prospects, but I don'tknow if anybody regarded them as holly as
Julio or a J and like inreal time? Agree U yeah, when
(16:18):
I can't think of I mean, lady Fitzgerald is older, but even he
wasn't regarded that high. Mm hmm, yeah, yeah, that's that's yeah.
I would have to say, Igo Julio since you win a J.
Yeah, and then you want totake Julio. I still no,
(16:41):
I agree? So as prospects,who who's who's going? Since you've been
doing this, who's the best widereceiver prospective? Would it be? Would
it be Megatron? Would be wouldbe Animoss? Mm hmmm? I would
(17:03):
say trying. Yeah. I loveRandy. I love Randy. I love
Randy. I gotta say, tryingmake Tron was from a different planet,
like as possible. I mean,Randy Moss was too, but of course
he went to Marshall and nobody wasquite aware at the time like that he
(17:27):
he shouldn't have been at Marshall. He should have been or not your dame,
right, Yeah, but magno Troncoming out with otherworldly Yeah, dude,
yeah, just shake my head, man. Yeah, it is absolutely
(17:48):
nuts, trying right, truck. So it's it's we talk about, we've
been talking about, and this draftis top heavy with offensive play and offensive
prospects. Who do you think isgonna be the first defensive player off the
(18:11):
board. I think it's gonna beDallas. Yeah. I think it's gonna
be Dallas Turner. Yeah, Ithink it's gonna be Yeah. I think
it'll be one of the rushers, either Dallas Turner or you think a lots.
(18:33):
Okay, he could be like himthough I like him more though,
actually yeah, I like him.Yeah, I like him more more than
Turner. I would trade down ifif he's steering me, and you know,
if it was the Bears and allthe offensive guys that yeah, all
the offensive guys are there, butyeah, I like him. He's big,
(18:56):
fastest movements, He's fluid, notsaying Dallas is not. Yeah,
you know, I just don't likethe six to two on Dallas. Yeah,
and and and actually I think JaredVersus I like him better than both
of them. I like Verse.I don't think he'll be drafted before that.
Mm hmm. But I like himbetter than both of them. Yeah,
(19:19):
a lot too, is an amazingpast rusher I don't like. I
don't. I don't like how heplays the run, plays the run,
okay, and Dallas Turner, youknow, is I like Dallas Sonner.
I just think Jared Versus the mostwell rounded. But I think, yeah,
(19:41):
I agree, I think that istrying to be the first one drafted.
Now, a wild card for mewould be and I don't think it's
crazy. It wouldn't shock me ifquin And Mitchell is the first defensive player
off the ball. Mm hmm.Corner is you know, it's another premium
(20:02):
position and somebody gets corner hunger. You know, they say you can never
have too many coverment. That's true, but that's I think Turner. But
I think a wild call would bequeen Ya Mitchell Okay, it'll be be
a shocker. Didn't say a shocker, but it'll be odd to see somebody
from Toledo going that. Uh.I was just about to say, isn't
(20:22):
that the care from Toledo? Okay? Yeah, what what? What did
he run? Do you know whatthis forty times one? Four to three?
It was? It was a fourto three to two. Yeah,
yeah, okay, that's what couldspeed. Yeah, and you know,
showed out was probably the best playerat the at the Singer Bowl. Okay,
(20:48):
but yeah, I think the onlything is being from Toledo, Toledo,
right, yeah, mkay, Yeah, I was all about to say
it was. Oh and my thingabout the lot to is I just think
(21:11):
that he because he had football takenaway from him, and he just didn't
think he was gonna They didn't knowif he was gonna be able to make
it back to that level or evenplay again, or maybe even walk.
So I just think when you havesomething taken away from you, you play
with a different kind of hunger.Yeah. So that's why I that's why
(21:33):
I like him, you know. And I guess that sounds kind of weird,
but he plays with I think heplays with a different kind of hunger
because it's been taken away from him. Okay, so let's say you get
there, we have your second pickat nine, nine. So let's say
you're getting picked nine and you knowdawnas clocks off the balls, so trading
back's not really the possibility here.So you get the nine and ada mm
(22:00):
hmmm. Let's say, oh mmhmmm, and a lot too, a
lot too, and and lotos onthe board. That's awful, okay for
(22:25):
Shan Andatu. Who are you taking? Oh, we're taking dooms. That's
that. That's what's going on.That's who I would want. But that's
what's going on with us. Likethe only way we don't take the only
way we don't trade back. IfRome is there, or Aldist there,
(22:47):
any other player, we trade back. Okay. That's from everything I'm reading,
and I like that. I likethat consensus as well. Okay,
so you think is his head andshoulders above for Shan, I'm not saying
I do. That's that's what we'rereading. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(23:08):
yeah, yeah. We're saying thatif we're not if we don't get the
number one guy at that position, that we're trading back if we don't get
the number one guy tackle, gotyou either either one of those receivers will
take you know, Okay, yeah, man, And it's such a like,
(23:30):
it's such a good class of thepositions that y'all need. Turning back
makes so much sense. Yeah, the Bears, can you know, use
a pass rusher wide out tackle? It's just so right. So so do
you think you think all his headand shoulders above above? Okay, okay,
(23:56):
neither one of them by I'm splittingthat. But but I think I
think I got okay, okay, you're giving him the edge or pass or
run or yeah. I just thinkit's his ceiling is so high as a
past protector mm hmm, you know, and just how just technically sound he
(24:22):
is and he's flawless in past protection. Wow. But again I'm splitting hairs
like if and now I'm not comparingthis players, so don't go. JR.
Said, you know, for Shan, who is blah blah blah.
(24:42):
But if if if if the Shan, who's you know, Tyrone Smith?
Okay, Joe al yeah, Joe, Joe, TOMPs. You know what
I'm saying. Like both you knowwhat I'm saying. But I think for
Chano is his ceiling is higher andits floord is just as high as Okay,
(25:11):
okay, so you're saying we shouldtake him, I mean, but
but then again, if you tookRome, I couldn't be mad. So
right right right were there I wouldtake. I would take for Shano if
he if he's there, I would, But I wouldn't be mad if we
took long, if we took wrong. I don't think Rome gonna be there.
(25:33):
No, I don't think. Butlike I tell my son all the
time, crazy things happen on draftday. Definitely, especially when it's a
quarterback driven draft. Mm hmmm.Quarterbacks to get overdrafted. People start falling
because of that, and so andeven without that, every drafts somebody faults
(26:00):
that we like, correct, stillthere, correct, Like look backwards last
year's Will Levis, Bill Levis andtongues of a few years ago with the
smoke with the weed. Yeah yeah, so George, you know we can
(26:25):
go back to with Aaron Rodgers draft. Yeah, Brady Quinn mm hmmm.
And I read an article this morningabout what a secret meeting, not really
a secret meeting, but the Jetsbrought out Pennick Junior. And yeah,
the Broncos brought up pins, likea few teams brought up Pennick Jr.
(26:45):
Trying to for real, yeah, for a top thirty visits. So the
Jets they saying these first round talent, which we already knew that, right,
but you know, of course wejust know you get banged up,
but we knew it, you know, right, and it's almost golden exactly.
(27:06):
And then outside of like legitimate thingsthat you can see, like meetings,
like when it's you know, thingsbring in players for for top thirty
visits before the draft. Well, but they don't like to call them top
thirty visits anymore. I forgot whatthey'd like to call them pre draft visits
or something. But you know, but I don't know. You can't believe
(27:30):
anything you hear this time now,not before the draft. You can't believe
anything you hear. So outside ofputting those pins in, when you start
seeing visits and meetings and you know, teams bringing in like those things you
can see, but stuff you justhear, you can't believe. This stuff
is sit you here right right right? Yeah? Man? But yeah,
(27:57):
you know, as we we getcloser, we will things started to come
together and then fall apart come togetheragain, right right right? You know,
so when we'll get our's opinion,we'll get to you know, talk
with Lincoln some and you know, get get some other opinions. But so
(28:17):
what the it's not really way toreally pivot to this, but so the
the women's final four, Yeah,it's today, as we record on Sunday
morning, the women's the women's nationalChampionship is today. I against South Carolina.
(28:38):
You know, I know I'm agame cop through and through you are,
and I know as as a asa as a Clemson guy, you
if it was a Hopscotts tournament, you ain't going to South Carolina, all
right. It can be a gameof Hopscot's title wink to be anything,
all right, a spage tournament.Pull South Carolina? Right, So on
(29:06):
by his side with the day's matchup, Caitlin Clark. Is I mean we've
seen the Yeah, Caitlin Clark versusAngel Reese. So Caitlyn Clark verus pagebackers.
So is Caitlyn Clark the best collegeplayer you've ever seen? And if
(29:27):
not, who is she the bestcollege player I've ever seen? And then
I got it? And if sheif she's not who and if she's not
again it's before the game and shewins the National championship today with that change
(29:48):
of I'm not gonna say she's thebest I've ever seen. However, she's
the one that could go for shiftytime, gotcha, you know, like
a combination of I guess, ballhandling, pass and however, like there's
no way to really guard her, right you know, because like I said,
(30:12):
she gets her her her rain startswhen she gets off the bus.
And and and she could really shecould really feel it. Yeah, you
know, she could. She couldfeel it, like I said, but
she used to. She's the firstplayer that I know that could go for
fifty at any night. Well youknow we you know, we're from the
(30:33):
Shamika hole Slaw and Chryl Swoops era. Those girls are dominant. Me a
more super bird. You know,I can't really give her the thumbs over
over any of them. The onlything I can give her over, you
know, maybe jump shooting, butlike defense tangibles just nasty. No,
I can't give her over those ladies. However, she's the one person that
(30:55):
could go for fifty you know, three games back to back, four games
back to back, right, youknow, string together five thirty one game,
you know, right, Yeah,yeah, and I don't. I
don't count when i'm and I needto do yeah, top five lists and
(31:15):
stuff like that, because for oneis subjective, you're gonna change anybody's opinion
number. When you start comparing greatsto greats and especially across errors, you're
gonna split hairs because it's just thatclose, right, and so something's got
to I don't weigh championships, whichI think is a team more of a
(31:41):
team goal than an individual goal.I don't waigh championships as much as a
lot of people do. You gottawin one, okay, I think that
helps when you start splitting hairs likethis. So when you're comparing it to
the you know, ter Ri Seas, the Mayamoures Tarassi mhmm, yeah,
(32:07):
you know, yeah, you knowthe Brianna's and you know the stories.
You know, you start talking aboutchampionships. I know, you only got
four years in college and they likeyou can you got a whole decade and
(32:29):
a half, like in the prosto build that. So you got four
years in college and in these daysgot up to six because of the COVID.
Gotta win one. So she doesn'twin today, it'd be tough to
put her in like over them,I'm saying she don't belong in the same
(32:52):
sentence. Mm hmm, but II mean, I would go, Maya
Moore's the best I've ever seen.Hmm. That's just playing for player total
skill set. But yeah, you'reright, like it's rare. I think
with Sheriff swoops might have been backin the day when we was like,
well fifty right like you Mike fifty. But yeah, I was shooting the
(33:20):
three and it was just it's justwork like so it's tough. But yeah,
you're right, we've never seen thisrange like we have, you know
with Caitlin Clark. Yeah, you'reright. She gets on the bus whatever
city they playing in the next cityover is where her range starts. Right,
(33:47):
It's amazing to watch. All thatbeing said, I hope I can
a lot of buts that, butyeah, you know, no, but
we'll see. I mean, it'sa game in the in store. But
it means, you know, absolutelyfun to watch. I will say that,
whether you think she's top one,top five, or or you discredit
(34:13):
everything she's done, which those peopleare crazy, right, fun to watch
right, And I hate everything inme, you know, because Page was
Caitlin before Caitlyn Man, yeah, and Jay everything in me. I hate
(34:34):
they called that offensive file because shewas gonna let the shot go and you
know, a thirty thirty three, thirty five footer and if she makes it,
she makes it. I mean, the screen wasn't that dirty. However,
it wasn't that clean, you know, it wasn't. It wasn't It
(34:55):
shouldn't have been called for it wasit was. And in that point,
I'm always kind of iffy about theref Swallow your whistle and crinch time,
right. Stuff happens that you justgotta like, you know, you gotta.
Yeah, but if it ain't agregious, man, let the players decide.
(35:16):
Let the players decided, man.And and I really wanted I wanted
that for her to see if shecould take down, you know, right
now the lion and and you knowwomen's basketball as in, you know,
regardless the best player. Because Pageplayed a really good game. She was
composed, she was ready to letit go. They did the down down
(35:38):
cross screen for she was ready tolet it go in the offensive fire.
Just think that was crazy. ButI do want to say you know,
Juju's an animal. But I dowant to say. I mean, you
know, Malaysia man for a while, she's my former middle school player,
so so I had a good relationshipwith her middle school. So you know,
(36:00):
of course I'm root for you know, I hate to say it,
but and she I don't hate tosay, but she plays, and in
two years she's gonna be what katand Clark is not saying, the best
player player. She'll be the faceof women's collar basketball. Correct. And
I think that her potential is higher, I really do. But I think
(36:21):
Dawn is gonna I just don't thinkshe's gonna be able to do that,
you know what I'm saying, justbecause the team is gonna be so stacked
and don are gonna kind of keepthe rings on it. So I don't
think she's gonna be able to displaythat until she gets to the next level,
right, And Richard, I wasgonna say about Kitten Clark, is
she's allowed to do that because that'skind of how that team is built.
(36:45):
That team is built for her tobe an offensive juggernaut. So a lot
of players don't get that opportunity. But yeah, Malaysia for a while is
