Speaker 1 (00:01):
If you're listening to the Jack and Nikki Show podcast
everywhere you get your podcasts and at WBQ dot com.
Joined Jack and Nicky live weekday mornings from six to
ten on one O two WVAQ.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Generations of West Virginians have turned their lives over to
us seeking guidance and advice. We started this show right
after Nicki and I returned from serving in the Korean
War nineteen fifty four, and we've tried to help people
ever since, mostly ruining lives in the process. We call

(00:39):
it you ask for it. Okay, you have a question,
you have something, We get in and we generally make
things work. So what we want to do right now
is we want to reverse this. We want to turn
this around, and we want to say, hey, you know what,
sometimes we need help from you. Guys. We're just human beings. Yeah,
we ain't nothing but mammals. Am I right? Nicki dress?

Speaker 3 (00:59):
That is accurate?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Yeah? So so now instead of you ask for it,
Nicky and I need a little help. Nicki has found
herself in a incredibly awkward and uncomfortable situation, which is
kind of.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Nice because usually it's you that's in the awkward, uncomfortable situations.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I'm enjoying this brand. Oh yeah, for once, I'm not
the one who is horribly uncomfortable and humiliated.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
NICKI awkward.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, walked into something yesterday and want to tell you
about it and then see how you would proceed. Nicki
Drake tell us the story.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Okay, so.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Yesterday I needed to go to the restroom.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
So I'm still a good start.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah, I'm off to the bathroom and I open the
door and somebody's in there. I can hear a voice,
and then I hear two voices. I'm like, okay, there
are coworkers here and they're just chatting while we're in
the bathroom.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
In the same store.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
So then I walk around the corner and I realize
that there's only one person in here and they're on
speaker phone while they're in the restroom.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Stall. H. I didn't know what to do, and you could.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
You can hear the restroom door open and close, so
I don't know, maybe they weren't paying attention, didn't realize
somebody came in. I don't know how long they had
been in there, which is another concern. So I just
kind of turn around, leave and immediately text Jack loger,
I've really got to go to the bathroom. But there's
somebody in there on speakerphone.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
That is the text. I can confirm it's right here.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Yeah, because I didn't know what to do.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Right, and my first thought was, and you want me
to do?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
What?

Speaker 2 (02:37):
What do you want me to open up the door?
All right, all right, let's put the phone away. Nikki
Drake needs to do some urinated Okay, we all understand protocol.
I don't want to have to take you to HR
all right, this is a private conversation. Take it somewhere else, right.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
That's the other thing I didn't.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
I didn't try to regret it, but I didn't try
to listen in on the conversation to see what kind
of if it wasn't a friend, a family member, a
potential client, Like I don't know if it's a business call,
a zoom meeting, I don't know what's happening.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
That's what I regret. I really wish that you had
done some eves dropping, right. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I was just like, I don't want to be in here,
and so I left.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
You're always talking about how you're good at multitasking. You're
telling me that you couldn't eve drop and urinate at
the same time. I think you could. I didn't put
some effort into it, Nikki, Come on, then, like.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
The concern is then, like, okay, they're going to hear
somebody else in the restroom.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
I don't know if the person in the stall had
things on.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Mute in between talking and like that way, like noises
weren't coming across.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
I'm not sure. Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, or maybe they gave them a disclaimer, like, hey,
I'm heading into the restroom, just want to let you
know beforehand.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Yeah, we're trying to conduct business here. I just know
that you will hear me straining at school while we're
doing it, right, Yeah, you always, By the way, that's
just a business tip, because I'm a business man, I
know how this works. You always notify the client when
you're going to be conducting the meeting from a toilet.
So you just say you're gonna you're gonna hear some things. Sure, Yeah,

(04:16):
and if they sign off on it, you know it's
on them from that point. Okay. Okay, So so you
just turned and left because of any number of reasons.
I have to assume that you did not want to
be overheard. By not only the person in there what

(04:36):
you were about to do, but whoever they're talking to.
You don't want to hear that, like, you don't want
to go in and get started. And here the person
on speaker go, I'm sorry, excuse me? Is that a
coworker urinating? Right? Yeah? You don't want that, right?

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
So you just held it. Yeah, I waited, and that's
why you ended up in the hospital. Yes, bursting blast. Yeah, okay,
day eight seven seven seven sixty six forty. Let's talk
about it. What do you do in this situation? This
is so uncomfortable and also just you know, bathroom etiquette

(05:11):
in general. I mean, this could be at work with
a coworker, this could be you walk into a public
restroom with the mall or Walmart anywhere and just everywhere,
and you go in and somebody's in there on the phone.
Do you just go ahead and continue with what you
went in there to do? Or do you do you
get out? Do you do you try to say something,
you know, loudly that will echo off of those restroom
walls to let somebody know that you're in there, somebody's

(05:33):
in here. Or do you just go ahead and get
started and go. You know what, they'll figure out somebody
else is in here pretty soon, right, Yeah, they're gonna know.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Yeah, serves them right.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yes, let's go to the studio and textual lines triple
A triple seven sixty six forty call texts that number.
You can also text us at three five sixty five
to one looking for a little help your guidance, advice
and analysis for Nikki walked into the restroom yesterday and

(06:03):
discovered a co worker in there loudly talking on speaker phone,
and of course Nikki was startled like a small deer
and ran down the hallway containing her urge to urinate.
So what do you do in this situation that just
generally speaking, not just with co workers, but anywhere you

(06:25):
go any kind of a public place. If you go
in and somebody's in there on the phone, there's certainly
a couple of awkward aspects to this. Number. One, you know,
you're hearing everything they're doing, right, but also potentially whoever's
on that phone, they're going to hear what you're doing. Yeah,
possibly with hilarious running commentary from the person they're talking

(06:47):
to who's also ever hearing you.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah, I don't need that.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
You really don't. So I know you've got a whole
list of text here.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
But I do more coming in, right yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
All right, very good. Well just here one that popped
in right away from somebody here wanting to know. Did
you did you talk to this woman afterward after this
happened later in the day, Did you say, hey, I
walked in and you were in there?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Oh gosh, no, oh gosh no.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
So she doesn't know no, okay, yeah, so she could
be hearing this right now and not even know that
you're talking about her because she doesn't know that you
walked in. Ah, okay, okay, yeah, that explains why you're
speaking so freely about this, right.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah, he has no idea until now.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Yeah, I do have some help coming in. I think
on the text line.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Join the conversation and make it awkward. Okay, that is
one way to go about it.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I like that.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
I almost opened my big mouth and was just like,
who are you talking to?

Speaker 3 (07:48):
And then I was just like, no, I don't need this.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Yeah, I have work to do today and this is
gonna de rail the entire day if I do that.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, I don't want to identify this person by a name.
I do know this person is that you're talking about,
because you know the are Yeah, and of course you
texted me and then yeah, yeah, but you know you
could have said, since she's on speaker, you could have
just blurted out to the person she's talking to.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Right, somebody just texted in saying you should have called
Jack on speaker and talked to him. Who Oh my gosh,
I didn't even consider that.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Next time.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Yes, you, okay, pick up your phone.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
If I ever call you after the show, I will
know why. You'll know. I will know why.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Usually we just text it so much easier.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Texture. That is a fantastic idea.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Thank you for that, oh so much.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
You got it.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
This texter says there's two ways to go about this.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Assert your dominance by going in and playing an audio
clip of non stop farting as loud as loud as possible. Yeah,
I could just jump on YouTube and there you could.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
But we both know you could make that noise without
going to YouTube.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Oh that's true. Yeah, yeah, it probably more realistic.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Well certainly because it would you know, be coming from you.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
I was.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I was saying, we know we.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Arm under the armpit or a hand under the.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Armpit, keep going, No, not what.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
You're talking about. Oh okay, uh, step two yell Oh no,
I'm paying I didn't make it. Get them up and
wait and see what happens.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Wow, okay, yeah, I'm uh. I'm gonna have to wrap
this up. Is there anything else that you'd like to add?

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Let's see. Oh so this is more advice.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
There are some people texting in with things that have
happened to them similarly. This one is I had something
similar happened to in a McDonald's bathroom.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
I was already in the stall.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Lady said, hey, if you hear anything anything weird, I'm
in the restroom.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Oh wow, So then.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Does that give you permission to just start making all kinds.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Of yeah, yeah, yeah, And you know what, honestly, I
would suggest just inspired by the text that came in
about the all nomping, and you know what you could
also do. You could pretend like you were being stuck
down into the toilet that you're on and you need
something like that.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
I think the Nerve Center of North Central West Virginia
Jack Loger and Nicki Drake on one O two wv AQ.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
If you're just joining us wallet hub announcing West Virginia
is the fattest of all states based on thirty one
key metrics. And Nicky ran down some of these metrics
a few minutes ago, and are you talking about sugar intake,
proximity to healthy food and so on and so forth?

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Right, Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
So my question is why is that? Why? What is
it about us that makes us different from people in
other states who have probably similar issues when it comes
to you know, getting to I don't know whatever they
consider a healthy food source, but also the sugar consumption,
the lack of exercise, because there are things here that

(11:17):
are individual choices, right, it's not all just circumstance. You know,
you can exercise really wherever you are, you can decide.
So what is it about us that causes us to
be this way? And I am in the awkward position
as a man who loves the great state of West
Virginia and our people of trying to figure out how

(11:39):
to defend us while also accepting the painful reality and
the statistical information that's right in front of me.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
It's very difficult, it is.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
And so instead of me just trying to push back
and go to strength, true, I'm not going to do that.
Because I mean, again, the numbers are what they are.
So my question really is why why is that? Why
is it that people here consume apparently more sugar than
other people, exercise less than other people. I mean, you know,

(12:12):
people in Mississippi or let's say Arkansas or Alabama, they're
not exactly living in places where they have so much
more access to really anything that we don't have. Yeah,
you know, yes, yeah, And as an outdoor enthusiast, I

(12:34):
know that if you and this is something that West
Virginia is known for, if you want to live a rich,
active outdoor lifestyle, this is a great place to do it.
There's all kinds of cool stuff you can do here,
skiing and hiking and you know, mountain biking, white bear rafting.
I mean, it's all kinds of options.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
There's a lot of options.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Justsic and I spend our summers hiking all over the
mountains all the time, so you know it's there, it
can be.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
My problem is we will go on a hike and
then we make our way get some ice cream afterwards, so.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Well you've earned that.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
Oh I've earned it.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
That's a reward at that point, Okay, feel bad about it.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
I honestly, I just don't really have an explanation eight
eight eight seven seven seven sixty six forty the studio
and textra line. You can also text us at three
five six' five't. One i'm just wondering why it's, UH
i guess worse here than any other place that you can.

(13:34):
Name are you seeing? Anything nikki?

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Drag somebody said nobody has the time or energy to
cook healthy meals. Anymore thank goodness for microwavable frozen, vegetables.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Right, right but at least they're microwaving, vegetables, Right, yeah
at least they've got that going.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
On, yeah some, days you know, what those frozen veggies
they come in.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Handy, Yeah, well here's the. Clue somebody texted in study
from twenty twenty, Three West virginia has the lowest labor
force participation in the.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Nation that was from two years.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Ago, yeah from twenty twenty. Three national average is sixty
two point. Six, okay so all, right if you have
a lot of people who aren't, working you do have
time on your hands to, eat, Right? Yeah, yeah, okay,
yeah you.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Do have time on your, hands you.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
DO i, mean, Well i'll give you an example from
my own. LIFE i get up AND i get moving
BECAUSE i have a job to. Do SO i wake
up in the, MORNING i get, READY i come in.
HERE i work very, hard pretending to have a good
time on the. RADIO i don't eat every day until about.
Noon that's my first. Meal, well IF i didn't have a,
JOB i could sleep until the krack of, noon wake,

(14:40):
up and then just start eating all, day all. Day
and that's the other THING i will. Say When i'm not,
working When i'm lounging, AROUND a lot of times it
is in pajama bottoms with the family sized bag Of
dorito's on my, Chest and god, knows IF i didn't
have some reason to get up and put some pants
on and go, SOMEWHERE i probably, wouldn't.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
Right because on one side you'll have The, dorito's the
other side of the peanut m and, m's and then
you're set for the.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Day, yeah and in the middle coma uh so. YEAH i,
mean if you if you don't have anywhere to be
or anything that you have to, do a lot of
times you you just don't go anywhere or do. Anything
and when you find Yourself and HERE'S i guess my
last point As i'm having the. Epiphany, well, think how
many times do you find yourself eating out of? Boredom

(15:25):
you ever find yourself just kind of? Snacking you're really
not even sure you're.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
You're just trying to make a conscious effort not.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
To but, yeah so like a lot of times When
i'm WATCHING, Tv i've been conditioned to have some kind
of a snack in my hand BECAUSE i feel, like,
well that's part of the. Experience If i'm WATCHING, TV
i should be snacking on.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Something mm, hmmm, yeah that's that's, true.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Right SO i, think, yeah thanks for that text. THAT
i think there's probably something to. That mm hm. Yeah all, Right,
Well i'm not sure we have this completely sorted.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Out BUT i don't think.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
SO i think we've got some. Clues we've got some.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Clues, yeah this just came. In it's just.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Math the number of fat people far exceeds the number
of skinny. People yours truly a fat man being followed
by a tuba.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Player that's. Unfortunate they have a.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
Problem Thanks.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Texter we want to talk to you about hiding in
your car to avoid. People we have some research. Here
it's a survey there is actually conducted By, halfords which
that is the plural Of. Halford by the, way it's
more than One. Alfred, yeah It's. Halford's and according to these, people,

(16:42):
whoever they, are fifty of drivers admit that at some
point they have hidden inside their vehicle to avoid other. People. Ok,
yeah and then they break it down in hilarious. Fashion
hilarious and disturbing. Fashion people hide in their car to

(17:04):
avoid doing household.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
Jors oh, wow that's very.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
SPECIFIC i, wonder is that with the car in the
garage or parked outside or WHAT i? Mean you, know
you open the door and the car sitting, there AND
i have to assume it's a man in there in
the floor of the, vehicle and it's, like why doesn't
seem to be in the? Garage closed the. Door his
head pops. Up oh that was a close. One, god

(17:28):
almost had to do some. Laundry thirteen percent of people
have hidden in their car from their significant, other perhaps
to avoid some type of confrontation THAT i can only
imagine was much worse when they were discovered hiding in the. Car, Sure,
HEY i wanted to talk to you about something really
important AND i noticed that you were hiding from me

(17:50):
in your. CAR i saw the top of your. Head
people hide in their cars from their in. Laws oh,
sure parents admit to hiding in their cars from their own.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Children oh, Right, yeah YEAH i could see.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
That yeah, Great here Comes sarah off the school. Bus
probably has a picture she made in art class. Today oh,
GOD i don't want to see. That let me get
in the. CAR i hope she doesn't figure Out i'm home, right,
Amazing and that's pretty much the extent of. It so
let me just ask, you guys hiding in your? Car
have you done?

Speaker 1 (18:25):
It?

Speaker 2 (18:26):
When and? Why is there a good reason to do?
THIS i certainly have done.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
It i've done.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
It, yeah, SURE i just, yeah SOMETIMES i just need
the extra. Time Sometimes i'm not even hiding from, anybody
but just going, Inside LIKE i just want to sit
in my. Vehicle Maybe i'm finishing a chapter of an,
audiobook or there's a good song on And i'm just,
like you know, What, Yeah i'm going to hide here
for a while and.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Let this play.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Out where do you do?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
This sometimes right in front of my. Apartment SOMETIMES i
just sit in the, car, yeah BEFORE i.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Go people doing that sometimes sitting in, vehicles, Yeah sometimes
in the.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
Parking, lot like you, Know kruger or WHEREVER i. Am.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Yeah, so, yeah well that's the beauty of tinted. Windows,
YES i love. THAT i do love that BECAUSE i
can really basically be anywhere and be in my truck
and really nobody knows that's. True AND i like.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
That you're being a creeper just watching people in the. Park,
yeah not do because, sometimes you, know the people like
to people watch while they're sitting on a bench at
a park or. Something jack hides out in his truck
with tinted windows where no one can see, him but
he can see.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Everyone, okay you know. What these are, wild baseless, allegations
AND i would like these comments stricken from the. Record Nikki,
DRAKE i have been wrongfully portrayed. Here let's move on
and talk to you guys. Next talking of all things

(19:55):
hiding in your, car they'll do research on, anything one,
thing mm. Hmm, yeah a lot of people do. It
people hide from, employers people hide from. Spouses parents surprisingly
hide from their. Kids people will use cars to hide
to avoid things that they just don't want to face in.

(20:15):
Life and we've got calls coming in eight eight eight, seven,
seven seven sixty six forty texts as well three five
sixty five, One, nikki let's begin with the texts what
are you seeing?

Speaker 4 (20:25):
HERE i often hide in the car while my boyfriend
goes into grocery. Stores i'm an, introvert SO i hate
pretty much all human. Interaction can you stay out in the?

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Car stay in the?

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Car does he leave you? Snacks are the windows? Crafts?
LIKE i just want to make sure you're?

Speaker 2 (20:39):
On is there a water? Bottle is there a hamster
wheel that you can exercise? On how long are you
in this? VEHICLE i guess is the? Question, okay good.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Question there was a truck with tinted windows parked in
front of my house the other day WHILE i was
out doing some shirtless yard.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Work jack was that you.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
No?

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Comments so WHAT i do on my own time is
no one's?

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Business oh, okay including this?

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Texter yeah all. Right any other text before we go
to the calls?

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Here? Uh, Yes i've not necessarily, hidden BUT i sat
in my car in the back driveway to avoid my adult,
children who are twenty and twenty two a few.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Times, wow this is really. INTERESTING i feel like we've
just kind of opened up a whole can of worms.
HERE i did not realize how many people are hiding in?

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Cars they're hiding in their.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Vehicles i'm going to start looking for people in their,
vehicles like If i'm trying to find somebody. Here so
Sometimes i'll go in the back AND i need to
see one of the salespeople or. Whoever find out they're,
like where are? They i'm going to start checking the parking.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Lot you can just do laps in the parking. Lot
so who's sitting in their?

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Car you got? It you got.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
It that's not uncomfortable at.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
All, no, no, no, all right to the studio. Lines
you are on The jack And niki showhich you got
for us? Here?

Speaker 5 (21:58):
Oh SO i public facing for a big. Company there's
this lady that Sold Mary. KAY i had no. IDEA
i moved to like a few houses away from, her
and she followed me for. MONTHS i hide from. Her
every TIME i see her car at the grocery.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Store oh my. Gosh in a, year she's in.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
Her eighties and she will run up to. Me she
will bring stuff to my house and ask me If
i'm putting in another order For Mary. KAY i was
just being nice to. Her can't get, away SO i
will still be hiding from her totally.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
