Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is the brief on the hidden dangers of hypnotism. Now,
you might think hypnosis is just a harmless trick to
help you quit smoking, but a wildly controversial new report
from Legend magazine argues it's actually a suicidal surrender of
your free will with some seriously scary risks. First, let's
talk about the psychological toll. Hypnosis literally works by intentionally

(00:24):
bypassing your critical thinking and willpower. Legend Magazine warrants that
this forced dissociation can lead to false memories where your
mind actually invents fake trauma. Plus, it can trigger mental fragmentation,
leaving you with intense anxiety and feeling totally detached from reality. Second,
we've got to look at how this whole practice got rebranded.

(00:46):
This isn't modern science, folks. It's rooted right in the
occult work of an eighteenth century guy named Franz Mesmer
and his totally debunked animal magnetism. James Braid just slapped
the word hypnosis on it later to make it sound scientific,
essentially hiding its spooky seance origins while keeping the exact
same dangerous trance techniques. Finally, there's the spiritual risk of

(01:08):
the empty house. According to Legend magazine, the absolute greatest
stupidity of hypnosis is believing you can just empty out
your mind without something else sneaking in to fill that void.
You're basically leaving your front door wide open and totally
defenseless against outside influences. So, at the end of the day,
true mental strength comes from keeping a vigilant grip on

(01:29):
the keys to your own consciousness, not just handing them
over

Betrayal Season 5

Betrayal Season 5

Saskia Inwood woke up one morning, knowing her life would never be the same. The night before, she learned the unimaginable – that the husband she knew in the light of day was a different person after dark. This season unpacks Saskia’s discovery of her husband’s secret life and her fight to bring him to justice. Along the way, we expose a crime that is just coming to light. This is also a story about the myth of the “perfect victim:” who gets believed, who gets doubted, and why. We follow Saskia as she works to reclaim her body, her voice, and her life.
