Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello everyone. I am in Atlanta, Georgia right now, standing
outside of a restaurant where my food is getting cold
on the inside. Oh, and there's traffic because I'm outside,
but that's okay. I won't own it. By the way,
Hi's life to me for remember to introduce myself. Oh wait,
oh my goodness. The soul dancing thing is getting better
now because you know I used to do the dance
and maybe all up here and over there. Yeah. Now
(00:23):
now it's starting to work out. I'm starting to like it.
I wrote books, go figure, an author wrote books there,
and I thought divorces better. And I thought being grown
up with ez if only our me memori verse foreign
coffee with those web in widows debts. You can get
those books wherever audio books are sold. And I think
that's about all I want to talk about about me,
because although I am a narcissist, I'm outside and my
(00:45):
food is getting cold. Ah belly first, So you're not
here to hear about me. You're here to hear about
our wonderful gusts. Wonderful gusts. Would you like to introduce yourself?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Sure? My name is Tjuanna blasting name. I am the CEO,
and it is chief of Queen Science Magazine. I am
also the executive producer of the Full Figured Industry Awards.
That is me.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, First of all, the idea of the Full Figured
Industry Awards is amazing. There's a lot of traffic which
is so upset. E.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
They won't let you be great, honey, they will not.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
I'm like, I did not think there would be this
many people coming up a side road. Full Figured Industry Awards.
You know, that's all staying right in there, right me
looking at the traffic and everything staying right in there?
How did you? How did you decide that they needed
to be a full figure Industry Awards? And then, secondly,
more importantly, how on earth did you get that done?
(01:49):
Because it's just a logistics.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
So the reasoning behind it is, you know, I used
to watch all the mainstream award shows and I remember
one interview in particular that Leslie Jones did, and she
was complaining about how people didn't want to dress plus
bodies on the red carpet, and I was like, well,
why don't we have our own red carpet where we
(02:15):
get to show people how fabulous we are? Right? And
you know, I was talking to my team about it
and I was like, yeah, somebody should do that, and
it was like, yeah, we should do that. I was like, yeah,
not we, somebody should do that. And me sitting around
waiting for somebody else to do it. You know, it
just didn't get dumb. But you know, it lived in
my heart for a little while and I was like, yeah,
(02:37):
we should probably do this. And again I sat on
it for another probably three four years before I even
went into planning on it, because it is, it is
a big undertaking and like it is, is not a
small test. So you know, after a few meetings and stuff,
we was like, all right, you know what, let's finally
(02:57):
do it. Because you know, I ain't nobody gonna do it,
You're waiting for it. It just was not happening. So we
decided to do it. We just went into planning mode
and made it happen. It is. It's a lot of work,
but I feel like anything that you have a passion for,
anything that lives in your heart, you know, it's not
really work. You just you know, out here just living
(03:19):
out your purpose. And that's that's what I think I'm doing,
living in my purpose.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Okay, I'm happy that you found that purpose. How many
years again a plan before you were like, I gotta.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Do this, you know what? Honestly and truly, it was
a year. So I had the thought that I sat
on it for a few years because I guess I
was just I was afraid to just do it. But
once we decided that we were going to do it,
we went into planning mode and a year later we
(03:51):
had our first show in twenty nineteen.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Okay, so you got this off the ground right before
COVID hit, So you know that means I gotta ask
COVID impact, honey. But is this the reason you have
QSM the Queen's Sides Magazine because you're like, ooh, can't
do the awards, but I can't do a magazine.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
So no, not really because QSM came way before the
full Viga Industry Awards. But I'll get to that in
a minute, right, So COVID COVID just decided that it
was going to come and just flip the world upside down,
and everybody was doing everybody went virtual. So what we
(04:31):
did was we had one virtual show and I was like, yeah,
this is just not it for me because I don't
want a virtual show, and then we skipped the year
because after the after the virtual show, we skipped the
year because I didn't want to do another virtual show
and also I wanted everybody to be in person like
(04:52):
that was the whole purpose of having the award show
is to be able to give people that red carpet
experience and to be a to give people their flowers
in their hands. So you know, skip the year, and
then the following.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Year we had it.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
We just had a smaller version of it. And when
I say a smaller version, it was probably about we
went from three hundred to about one hundred and fifty people,
which is a lot smaller cut in half. But you know,
now we're back in full production mode and we are
about to be in year six. On November first is
(05:26):
our sixth year shel and QSM. We are in November,
we will be celebrating fifteen years in production.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
So okay, So that brings me to two questions. Yes,
the first one you don't have to really answer, So
when can okay, now this one you have to answer. Sorry,
I like we have a lot of the fashion world believes,
like as you were saying about with the red carpet
a size six. After a size six, they're like, ooh,
too large, can't dress you? So what is what is
(05:58):
full figured in today? And are in your world? Right?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
So I'm glad you said my world because it just
depends on who you ask, and it depends on I
guess where you shop. But for US QSM and the
Forlofica industry was my particular brand. Like you said, straight
side stop at a size six? Right, So how do
we skip over size eight and size ten just because
(06:25):
visually they don't look plus to some people, but technically
they are plus because they are not straight you know,
one to the other. Right, So we start at a
size eight for my brand?
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Okay, now here's the question you don't have to answer.
So when can I be in it?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I'm gonna answer that question when you are ready.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
I was like, I was actually joking about that. But girl,
as I said from the beginning, I am another list.
You will see me at fifteen s out of I'll
be like, no, no, no, I'm setting it in. I think
I'm cute enough now anyway. So people are gonna want
to know, first and foremost, how can they get involved
in supporting the full figure at imageur words how and
(07:14):
where can they pick up the Queen Size Magazine.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
So I'll do the easiest part first, So QSN right
now on Queen Size Magazine. Right we are digital now,
so if you go to our website Queensenceesmagazine dot com,
you'll be able to access our content. Okay, now I
do tell people now by the rookie card because we
were full print for a good ten years until COVID
(07:41):
hit and then we went digital. You know, people was
not opening mail, they wanted touching mail, they were spraying mail,
and we didn't want people spraying magazine, so we stopped
the the the print issues. We may or may not
be going back to that, you know, you have to
wait and see. But right now you can access all

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Girl? I am not the fashion show girl. I attend them,
I don't produce them. I don't really know.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I know you do. That's what I was asking, like,
in the future, where did the fashion show coming you know.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
What, stay tuned for that because you know, as I
grow in this industry, you know, I'm starting to be
a little bit more open minded to pay. So we
may or may not. You know, you guys just have
to stay tuned out with social media because we do
have some stuff coming up for you. I'm not gonna
answer the question as far as when the fashion show
(10:12):
is coming, but I will tell you just stay tuned
off of social media.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
You have been such a fun guess. I'm not gonna lie.
I'm like, I love the smile and the smirk and
I oh, I gotta ask one question before we go,
and that is how did you get the inspiration for
Queen Size Magazine?
Speaker 2 (10:29):
So I'm a writer by trade. I just love to write,
and it was always my desire to work for a
magazine because I just wanted to write in a magazine
and that didn't happen, so, you know, start my own,
and I started Queen Size Magazine in twenty eleven. It
(10:52):
started out as a lifestyle publication just for plus sized bodies,
to just tell how fabulous we are in our plus
sized body, and then you know, later on it evolved
into fashion and lifestyle. So and we're still going strong.
Every month we drop an issue going on fifteen years now,
(11:13):
so you know, that's really why I started. It was
a selfish region because I wanted to write for magazine.
But yeah, here we are now.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
All right, So tell everyone one more time where you
can find Queen Size Magazine and the Full Figured Imagery Awards.
