(01:33):
feely comments, emotional talk, whining, conspiracies, unfunny humor, overreactions, bullying, harassment,
cursed illusions, solicitation, naive arguments, arrogance and propaganda. Get all
that crap out of here. This podcast is hosted by
someone who has autism and is not for entertainment purposes,
(01:55):
but for educational purposes. The views express do not reflect
the truth about our teams. In this episode, I'm going
to talk about the breaking news of Ward Manual being
fired by the University of Michigan MSU, hiring and in
hiring and hiring an interim ad athletic director. More, Dylan
(02:20):
Lukin reports, the Pistons still being linked to Trey Murphy,
Tiger's still hanging in the playoff hunt, and the standings,
lots of lots of other Tiger's news and a developing
update on former Lions cornerback Terry on Arnold. So let's
get to it right now. According to Justin Spirou of
(02:43):
the Spirou Avenue podcast, Ward Manuel has been fired as
the University of Michigan athletic director after Sharon Moore's ex assistant,
Page Shiver, sued you of him and claimed FOI violations.
So I'm going to share my screen and take you
(03:03):
to Justin Spiro's post on x at Darko State News breaking.
Warden Manual is out as Michigan athletic director. The University
of Michigan that is, is negotiating terms of his release.
An announcement is expected this week, and he added a
post The timing likely coincides with the release of the
(03:28):
Jenner and Block investigation into UFM's athletic department, which is
also expected this week. So it's all gathered. It's all
being gathered around and sorted it out. Yes, Frank Vager
should should have gotten vincement Man to deliver the news. Yeah,
I love that You're five. Now let's take you to
(03:52):
each article in chronological order from last Wednesday at five
twenty three pm Eastern On July eighth, Sharon Moore's former
executive assistant is suing the University of Michigan, claiming the
school violated the Freedom of Information Act by denying requests
made on her behalf after the football coach was fired
(04:14):
for having an inappropriate relationship with her. Kate Shiver by
name and her attorneys filed a lawsuit on Wednesday in
a Washtonock County court seeking requested records and punitive damages.
Attorney Andrew M. Straus said, quote, it was important for
(04:37):
our client to file this initial Freedom of Information Act
lawsuit to ensure the truth and facts come out unquote,
and that all the facts Previously, Sharon Moore was accused
of confronting Shiver, with whom he had been having an affair,
and blaming her for his firing. Authorities said she had
(04:58):
previously ended the fair and spoken to school officials about it.
Moore pleaded no contest to trespassing and malicious use of
a telecom device and was placed on probation in April
for eighteen months. As you can remember, he did not
serve any did not serve a second or nano or
pico second in jail behind bars, so Shiver did not
(05:23):
attend the hearing and release the statement, saying the sentence
quote does not reflect the harm done to me unquote.
The plea deal came after Attorney Ellen Michael's plan to
aggressively challenge how the police how police gathered and shared
information to get an arrest warrant. She argued that police
didn't disclose that Moore and Shiver had a working relationship
(05:45):
that involved calls and text messages. Attorney Julie Murphy sent
the university a series of FOIA requests Freedom of Information Act,
that is, including the investigative file related to Moore's firing
from February to June, and each was denied by the school.
Strauss said, quote, This public university paid General Block twelve
(06:07):
million dollars to investigate the Sharon Moore scandal and the
abuse Title nine in Title seven violations within the athletic
department in shem Beckler Hall, yet now refuses to release
the investigation's findings. Quote That's the end of the article.
And then earlier today at seven thirty pm Eastern time,
(06:31):
on July twelfth, the University of Michigan's regents are expected
to discuss an investigation into the culture of its athletic
department on Thursday. Sources told ESPN, as you could tell
as I tell you this ahead of time, has this
has something to do with at the top the ethntic
director Ward Manual. As part of the review, A decision
(06:55):
on the further athletic director Ward Manual is anticipated in
the coming days. Michigan commissioned the investigation in December following
the firing of coach of football coach Sharon Moore for
having an inappropriate relationship with a staff member that's paid Shiver.
After being fired earlier that month by Manual, Moore drove
(07:18):
to the home of staff member Paid Chivern confronted her.
He was arrested and later agreed to a plea deal
to a plea deal for misdemeanor malicious use of a
tele telecommunications device and misdemeanor trespassing. The incident was the
latest controversy for the high profile athletic department, including numerous
(07:38):
NCUBA violation violation cases NCUBA violation cases, an illegal in
person scouting scandal involving staff member Connor Stallions, and federal
charges against former offensive coordinator Matt Weiss. The computer hacking
scandal for founding aggravated identity theft and on authorized access
(08:01):
to computers. Weiss has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled
to stand trial in September. The long anticipated report from
the Chicago law firm General Block has cost over eleven
million dollars and has expected to be comprehensive. The incident
(08:21):
that has put Manual's future in the crosshairs of in
the crosshairs is the Department of Moore. Manuel promoted more
after the exit of coach Jim Harbaugh to the NFL,
and Michigan is still dealing with the legal fallout from
more subsequent arrest. What Manual and other athletics officials knew
(08:43):
of that inappropriate relationship and how they acted as expected
to be part of the report. Along with the legal issues,
there was also the year's long investigation into the illicit
advanced scouting scheme orchestrated by Stallion that led to a
barrage of NCAA penalties against Michigan, as you all recall.
(09:06):
As we all recall, including an unprecedented fine that is
expected to be more than thirty million dollars, four years
of probation for Michigan, and a ten year show cause
order for Harbaugh. Yep, we remember that, of course. Particularly
Manuel was at the center of the fight with a
Big Ten over Harbaugh's three game suspension, which the conference
(09:28):
issued in twenty twenty three under the sportsmanship clause when
the Wolverines football team won the College Football Playoff National
championship that season. May I add Manuel call it completely
unethical and an assault on the rights of everyone. In
the wake of the Big Ten suspension, Michigan abruptly reversed
(09:49):
course on legal action and withdrew its lawsuit against the
Big Ten five days later. One of Manuel's biggest wins
as athletic director might have backfired on him. He lured
Florida at Atlantics Dusty made a Michigan as the men's
basketball head coach in March twenty twenty four, a coaching
cycle with several high profile openings that included Ohio State.
(10:12):
After May won the national the national championship title for
the Wolverines this year men's basketball, Manuel announced in the
celebratory parade that he and May had agreed to deal
to a deal to keep him at Michigan for many
years to come. May and Michigan never consummated that deal.
(10:34):
May and Michigan never consummated that deal, and he left,
and he left to coach the NBA's Dallas Mavericks nearly
two months after Manuel's proclamation public proclamation. So, Ward Manual
the last few years, including the latest Sharon Moore scandal, well,
(10:55):
he has not handled any of this properly, I would
have to assume. So this really it's just an entire
mess that wore Ward Manual, the entire series of messes
that Ward Manuel has got himself into around the University
of Michigan's athletic department. So I just I have serious
(11:22):
reservations about this, about these scandals as well, I really do.
So Warren Manuals expected to be fired, they would say
this Thursday. So that's the Wolverines world beat. Breaking news
now the Spartan Span developing update. Michigan State University President
(11:46):
Kevin Guskowitz has named John Palombo as the interim athletic
director to at least temporary, at least temporarily, replaced j Batt,
who left for Kentucky. We'll see if he stands out
to meet the permanent athletic or athletic director later on,
or if they find someone else to be the permanent ady.
(12:08):
So that's the Spartan span. Now for another edition of
As the Wing Wheel turns with a developing update. Another
developing update that is red wing center Dylan Larkin has
added the Dallas Stars as a fourth NHL team considered
considered to be traded to, along with the Vegas gold Knights,
(12:29):
the Florida Panthers, and the uh oh, the Minnesota Wild
that was the that was the other team. So the
Vegas Golden Knights, the Minnesota Wild, the Florida Panthers, and
now the Dallas Stars. That makes four teams that Dylan
Larkin has added has on his list of teams of
NHL teams to be traded too after he abruptly requested
(12:52):
a trade a month ago. So I'll keep my eyes
on that. That's another edition of As the Wing Wheel
turns Now. The Pistons post. The Pistons have traded Marcus
Sassart to the Mavericks to the Dallas Mavericks, Kars Lvert
with a with a couple draft picks to the Milwaukee Bucks,
future draft picks Isaiah Stewart to the Memphis Grizzlies, and
(13:16):
received John Collins from the LA Clippers. All in a
sixteen trade. So I thought these were all separate at first,
but uh Tredy John Langdon had uh had another different
plan in store also. But I'm gonna share my screen
(13:37):
as to who they who else they got. They also
got Taiwan Prince. I think so the Karslavert trade is
to the purpose of the Karaslavert trade to was to
send to a save salary cap money. There were two
second round picks for Ford, Tehran Prince and ex Michigan
(14:00):
State guard Gary Harris, a person with firsthand knowledge of
the deal confirmed to the Detroit Free Press Wow. The
outgoing second round picks are from the twenty twenty seven
NBA draft, Milwaukee's and less favorable of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn
Nets and the Dallas Mavericks. The Pistons now roster stands
(14:21):
at sixteen players, accounting for the unsigned accounting for the
unsigned Jalen center Jalen During center Jalen Jalen Duran, indicating
at least another move or two will happen before the
end of the offseason to bring the roster within the
fifteen player limit. Prince, at age thirty two, is on
(14:42):
an expiring three point eight million dollar contract and is
a career thirty eight point seven percent shooter from three
point range, which is not bad. He played twenty He
played twenty six games last season due to a neck injury,
but return in March, which he returned in March from
which he returned from in March. He averaged nine point
(15:05):
two points per game in twenty three and a half
minutes per appearance for the season. Harris, that's Gary Harris,
who turns thirty two in September. He's also expiring on
an expiring three point eight million dollar contract. He played
in forty eight games last season with Milwaukee, averaging just
two point seven points in thirteen point eight minutes. LeVert,
(15:27):
at age thirty two in August, is on a fourteen
point eight million dollar expiring contract. The Pistons trade creates
needed flexibility. The Sasser and LeVert trades, as well as
the Pistons previously reported trades to bring in former Los
Angeles Clippers power for John Collins and send Stuart to
(15:48):
the Grizzlies, will be processed as part of a massive
sixteen transaction including the Bucks, Mavericks, and Washington Wizards. That's
the sixteen that I was trying that was trying to
remember and mention Bingo. So Keith Smith at Keith Smith
NBA on X posted update Colin with Marcus Sasser traded
(16:12):
to the Mavericks. The Pistons are now around forty eight
and around forty eight million dollars under the luxury tax.
That's with fifteen players under contract, more than enough room
to resign Jalen Duran or to take back some money
in assigning trade where Duran lands elsewhere. Those are the
two choices that the Pistons have right now. As of
(16:33):
right now, it doesn't guarantee Duran's new contract will reach
that number, but affords the Pistons more flexibility as they
continue rounding out their roster. The fifteen million dollar trade exception,
good for one year, also provides them an avenue for
an for another player acquisition. Let me take a sip
(16:54):
of my water here. A trade exception is similar to
a voucher, allowing them to take in a contract worth
up to that amount without needing cap space or matching salary.
That the Pistons depth chart looks like this. During remains
unsigned as a restricted free agent. Also, so that leads
to the the rest of the depth chart. Kate at
(17:18):
point guard, Kate Conningham, Danis Jenkins and Ebuka o'cory. It's
one of the draft picks that this year that shine
shine thus far in the NBA Summer League for the
Pistons at shooting guard Duncan Robinson, Isaiah Joe Javanti Green,
Chas Lanier and Gary Harris not Tobias Harris, Gary Harris
(17:43):
from MSU, the Spartans at small Ford, Asar Thompson, Ron Holland,
Kevin Herger and Tarran Prince Tayshawn Prince's son. I would believe.
At power forward John Collins and Isaac Jones a two
way contract, I would say, Ah, if Isaac Jones was
(18:03):
the only option as a backup power forward, he would
stay in the NBA level above above the G League level,
I would say. And finally at center, Jalen dur and
Paul Reed, Tolou Smith, Ogana Anienzo who also has a
two way contract. So that's it for that story. And
(18:25):
then we got this to share. Then I have this
to share. The Pistons are still linked to Trey Murphy
from the New Orleans. Yeah, the New Orleans Pelicans, thank
you very much. Yeah, the New Orleans Pelicans according to
the Pistons linked to Train mur The Pistons are still
(18:46):
linked to Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans, according
to Sham Charania of ESPN, So I'll keep my eyes
on that as well. This will be a developing story
in NBA free agency as far as the Pistons are concerned.
So that's the Pistons post now for the Tigers Tribune
(19:09):
weekly edition. The Tigers swept the Sacramento Athletics and then
they lost two of three to the upstart Philadelphia Phillies,
who have a powerful offense. By the way, they beat
him ten to two and then lost three to four
to two and then five nothing. One player that does
(19:36):
stand out to me is Eduardo Valencia, who has provided
offense early in his time in MLB. After they called
him up and designated Jami Jones for assignment to make
room to do so, and Jami Jones, I'm going to
(19:56):
share my screen, I'm gonna share his to share ed
Wardo Valencia's stats right about now on my screen here average.
His average right now is five hundred. His first MLB
at bat was a home run on the first pitch
to him ever in the MLB level. Wow, hit it
(20:20):
the dead center, hit it the dead straightaway center. And
since then he's been jailing. Not quite perfect, but he's
been jailing. His average is five hundred right now, and
his ops a whopping sixteen forty five one point six
four five. It's been as high as one point eight
two six as far as I can remember. Take a
(20:42):
look at his stats from Friday eighteen sixty seven, thank
you very much, eight one point eight sixty seven. I
was close, but just a little bit off. But really
Valencia went two for four that night, and then he
went two for four yesterday eighteen twenty two ops. After that.
(21:03):
That's pretty good. So Edward of Valencia, if he keeps
this up, he could be yet another step forward for
the Tigers offense for many years to come to show
how great he can be as a hitter for this
Tigers ball club. Now, as far as division standings go,
(21:26):
six and a half games back in the AO Comedy
Central Division fourth place and then the wild Card, the
Tigers are getting up there. Three and just three and
a half games back in the wild Card of the
wild third final wildcard spot held in a tie between
(21:47):
by both the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins, who are
both each forty eight and forty nine. The Tigers are
forty four and fifty two. This race is heating up,
just three and a half games, just three and a
half games back of the wild card spots for the Tigers,
just three and a half. The Tigers, as I said
(22:09):
before in my last episode, are not selling just yet.
So and what I meant by that is, don't trade
Terrek Scooble just yet. For example, don't trade anyone. Don't
trade Myz, don't trade fran Ur Valdez, don't trade Dylan Dingler,
don't even trade Carry Carpenter. Don't trade Riley Green, don't
(22:35):
trade Kevin McGonagall. He's here to stay. The Tigers are
still here to contend. They're trying to make a comeback early.
And I'm not even going to compare this to twenty
twenty four. This is a different comeback. May was a fluke,
I admit that, but that was on the Tigers team itself.
(22:58):
But Justin Verlander has also been added to the All
Star Game one last time. This is his last year
actually seven point eight million dollars, luxury tax ten million dollars,
and then he becomes a free agent in twenty twenty seven,
(23:19):
an unrestricted free agent. And by the way, heard from
rumors that Trek Scoubele wants to stay. He badly wants
to stay in Detroit with the Tigers for the rest
of the twenty twenty six season. And now he has
an eight has just an eighteen percent a declining eighteen
(23:39):
percent chance of being traded to another Major League Baseball team.
And thanks for the follow on Instagram Royal Kicks LLC
in Battle Creek, I'll give a I'll give you a
free business endorsement on my next episode from here on forward.
(24:01):
And thanks for tuning in. Also Northwood's LG Barbecue for
tuning in on Instagram Live of course, one of our
regular followers on one of the one of my podcasts
regular followers on Instagram at Michigan Underscore Truth. Let me
(24:22):
go to my Instagram profile, my Michigan Sports Truth Podcasts
Instagram profile and look up the reposts real fast to
try to dig up the source that I can mention Kaishi,
I think, oh, there we go, So there's an eighteenth Calshi. Yeah,
(24:48):
Calshi reports Scooble has an eighteen percent chance of being
traded according to traders on to traders on Calshi. So wow,
that is big, big news. So Trek Scooble has a
greater chance of staying in Detroit with the Tigers. So
(25:10):
not only does he badly want to stay, he has
a better He has a much better chance staying in Detroit.
I told you the Tigers should not trade Trek Scooble.
They're contending for a playoff spot Terrek scoobls Errek Scooble's
tenure and Detroit is not done yet, at least for
the time being. So hang on, folks. I know they
(25:33):
want more offense, but you can't trade Trek scouble to
another team for more for better hitters. You know, Edward
o Valentia can can bring the offense at least something,
and he has done that thus far in his first
four games. Take a look at that, huh. So, Dylan
(25:55):
Diingler has returned from from a hand from a slight
hand injury getting hit by the pitch and then well
vest a relief pitcher, has suffered a stress fracture. But
Dylan Dingler back for the All Star Game along with
Riley Green, Justin Verlander and Kevin McGonagall. So that's good news.
(26:16):
That's all on the Tigers Tribune. Now for the Lions
low down, hardcover developing update. Four NFL teams, the Houston Texans,
New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, and Seattle Seahawks, all by names,
have shown interest in former Detroit Lions cornerback terryon Arnold.
(26:38):
Oh wait hold on a minute, yeah, stop the sharing.
I want to do to share the draft picks first
for the Tigers. The Tigers have selected Cameron Flukey at
number twenty two in the twenty twenty six MLB draft.
(27:00):
A three nineteen e RA eight and two record, one
under one and two thirds innings and the and pitching
in the College World Series Finals, the final against eventual
champion LSU Coastal Carolina. The Shannon Claars were that I
remember where that football head coach in twenty eleven. Yeah,
(27:21):
Jim Bennett act like dogs, you know, yeah, catch talking home.
But anyway, that's where Cameron FLUKEI came from A four
o a e RA in one and eighty and two
thirds innings the last three seasons, a breakout season a
two record three nineteen e RA and one two thirds innings,
(27:42):
so as he had time to develop sixty one, sixty
nine and then one hundred and twenty five. The Tigers
selected shortstop Tyson Laplock, and he's a home run hitter
from what I read and notifications on my phone from
Kansas at twenty one years old, slash three forty one
(28:03):
four to twenty five seven oh six slugging percentage. That's
a one point one three to one OPS total with
twenty five home runs and sixty nine RBIs for the
Jayhawks in twenty twenty six. Eighty seven hits over sixty
three games was the third most of the Big Twelve
(28:24):
in baseball. In men's baseball in twenty twenty six, and
then right handed pitcher Evan Dempsey at number sixty nine
from Florida Gulf Coast as part of the Competitive Balance
Round B Between's round between rounds two and three at
twenty years old, a two way player over three seasons
(28:47):
at Florida at FGCU, playing in the outfield when he
wasn't on the mound twelve and four as a pitcher,
thirty six career appearances twenty five starts for the Eagles,
putting up a three to fifteen era, striking out twelve
point eight batters per nine innings over eight and eight
over eighty and two thirds innings. It has to I'm
(29:09):
required to subscribe to read the rest of that, this
damn article. But I'm sure he did well. I'm sure,
I'm sure he hit well. And then shortstop Dominic Pelgrin
at number one hundred and twenty five from Holy Crossing,
Louisiana at nineteen years old thirteen reaching base in thirteen
(29:30):
to fourteen plate appearances over a three game span in June.
Pelgrine stands at six feet one one and seventy five pounds,
best known for his speed and defense up the middle.
So those are the draft picks that the Tigers have
selected thus far. And now the line's lowdown, hardcover developing update.
(29:50):
The Houston Texans, the New York Jets, the Indianapolis Colts,
and the Seattle The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks were
among were the four team that shown interest in signing
former Lyons cornerback Terryon Arnold. So I just wanted to
pass that along to you guys. So what did we learn? Well,
(30:16):
Warren Manuel's got to be fired this Thursday for mishandling
all of his all the scandals that happened around the
University of Michigan in his tenure. The Spartans have an
interim eighty at least temporarily, in John Palumbo. Dylan Larkin
is expanding his options, including the Dallas Stars being one
(30:42):
of them. Also, other NHL teams have shown interest, the Devil's,
the Kraken, and the Sharks. Also, the Pistons may just
think that that they made multiple separate trades, but they
made a sixteen trade also getting Tron Prince and Gary
(31:02):
Harris from MSU in addition to John Collins. And they're
still being and they're still not done yet. They're they're
still pursuing Trey Murphy and other shooters like Laurie market
and Kevin Love I think nope, no, I don't think
Kevin loves that, but Laurie Markin and Paul George. Now
(31:23):
Paul George was traded already, so I think just Lauri
marketing is all I know at the time. At the
time being, But the Tigers still not selling yet. Although
they lost the last two of the Phillies there, there's
still three and a half games back of the wild
(31:43):
card spots. Trek Scuba wants to stay. Any has A
has an eighty two chance of staying in Detroit, according
to Calsh to traders from Calshi, so cross your fingers, folks.
Also so JV Justin Verlander. It's definitely going to be
(32:05):
his last year. He becomes an unrestricted free agent in
twenty twenty seven, according to spot track, after being paid
seven point eight million in salary cap and ten million
in luxury tax money. And then Terry On Arnold is
being drawn interest from four NFL teams, including the Houston Texans,
(32:26):
New York Jets, Indianapolis Coltson Seal Seahawks. The sel Seahawks
are definitely looking to up their game in their secondary
for example. So that's everything we've learned in this episode
