Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome back to the muster. Allan McCleary of Shearwere, New
Zealand joins us on this rather mild afternoon down here
in the Deep South. Good afternoon, Ellen, here you go.
And mate, you're right pretty good. Cyndy Lauper you you're
a big fan.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I am. I am, Yeah, I know. I quite like
the idea of girls having fun as long as I'm involved,
you know. But a singing and dancing that Joe, I
didn't mean that, Joe, it was it was I was
talking back in my single days.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Honestly, you're on fire already ten seconds in seer where. Well,
how's it going.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, it's good. We're going really well. It's it's meant
to be a quiet month, but it's not. We're the
kettle tags new the new boss tags are flying out
the door, sheep tags. We're actually you know, we're way
out in front of where we've been in the other year,
this time of the year. So you know, it's great.
Rays running around like a blue you know, bottled fly

(01:07):
in a bottle.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
So i'd say a headless chuck.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, okay, we'll go aheadless chuk. That sounds better than it. Yeah,
I was going to say something else, and I remember,
you know, I'm on the radio.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
No you can say it, it just doesn't it might
just not have universal approval.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Well, we won't go with that. We'll try and keep it,
you know.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So where do we find you today?

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Well, I was actually hidden middle March and hide, but
we've been I've been pulling over all the time with
phone calls and orders and inquiries, so I've actually only
got as far as out from and I'm pretty sure
I'm not actually going to end up and hide today.
I can see that. So so do you know all good?
Just people inquiring about the heat waves. They're getting pretty

(01:48):
popular with you know, lambs and beef schedules where they
are people are and the milk powder hasn't gone through
the roof, so it's a pretty good option to keep
everything alive and and solved. So yeah, there's a few
of them moving out the door.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Yeah, it's interesting that a lot of people talk about
the amount of triplets they're having this year and being
a curse. But the way that lamb's looking, the red
meat price still looking pretty buoyant. So if you are
going to hand raise stuff, well, the heat waves are
perfect solution.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Now on, well they are. You know, they're so reasonably
priced and they're so straightforward to operate, like as long
as you clean them every day, there's very very few
problems with them. And the stop do so well on them.
They're you know, they're in sides nice and warm, a
we feed when they want. They're actually doing better than
some of the some of the livestock on mum sir.

(02:39):
It's a no brainer really in.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
It add live feed systems are the way to go
if you're going to do it.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And the days of going doing the
lambing beaten. You see a lamb and you think, well,
i'll have a look at him on the way back,
hoping the problem will be solved. We've got to get
past that, haven't we.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Well, at the moment when they're worth the money they are,
you're almost holding a seal on it's been one passes.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Well, no, I haven't got that far yet, but oh yeah,
I'll keep it in mind. I'll give you a tingle
when I need one.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Right, Hey, the speedy tag applicators tell us about these, yeah,
we ye, Well.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
That was sort of a work in motion that one.
We were we were trying to sort of fast track it,
but anyway, never just we never had a quite in
that sweet spot. So we've we've done that. We've done
everything that we've we've opened the jaws and we've made
the jaws different. So the tag SIT's better and the
cartridge is moving across a lot smoother. So we've got

(03:38):
all that ironed out. So anybody that actually bought one
earlier on that's not one hundred percent, give us a
tingle and we'll see you're right with a new one.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
You're talking about fast tracks. The speedy tag is a
part of the fast track legislation.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
You know, we'd move quicker than that made need to
do with legislation. We're way out in front of that.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Well, it's a purpose a fast track. You go through
all the red tape and just bordauze and get stuff
done regardless.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yeah. No, look, we we thought we were trying to
just sort of marry on to our other old one
and yeah it worked, but just just not not as
well as it should have done. So but we've done
all that. We've gone back to the drawing board. The
guys have sorted all the problems out and yeah, yeah,

(04:23):
so if you've got an old one and you're not
overly happy with it. Just give me a yodel and
we'll we'll sort you out.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
So what events have you been to recently or anything
coming up before lambing? Not really, I haven't.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Been to any beef and lamb things or that. I've
just been I've just been cold calling, to be fair.
I've been down around Southland and through the Catlands and yeah, yeah,
I've just been out having a chat with everybody, and
everybody seems to be reasonably happy, and there's plenty of
plenty of feed out there and it's yeah, everything's pretty
boyant really in't it.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
It is? And when you do your rounds you hear
of a lot of reps doing this. A lot of
people are graphed me because I heard it from one
of the south they work for the daily sheet as
to where they're going to get the best coffee in
the morning. Do you do that?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
No, no, no, I'm too busy. I don't stop and
have coffee. The boss is listening. No no, no, no,
I'm always always working, work, work.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Work, good to hear. Look, so the big news, the
big thing with you guys. It's busy, but you're always
wanted people to get in touch with your regarding tag orders,
regarding your kettle tags, sheep tags or whatever. And yeah,
love you say the heat Wave milk system sent absolutely
something to keep in mind when he gets busy.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, definitely. And look just ring us. We're all up,
always up for a yarn. Ray on myself. We've got
young being up in the North Island. He's going ham
her and tongs. So yeah, it's we're easy to get
ahold of. And yeah, answer your questions, take your orders.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
What did you like?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
But we are we're just growing. It's it's I can't
get my head around how I keep thinking that we're
going to slow down, but we're actually speeding up constantly.
It's it's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
The word of Alan McCleary is spreading, only getting bigger
and wider in this country of ours. And if people
want to get in touch to keep you even busy, yeah,
how do they do it? Alan?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Just give me a ring on tw seven two three
two double four double eight. That's your best, that's your
best bet you'll get a hold of me here, Or
you can give Ray a ring on eight hundred and
seven triple nine eight nine.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
One thing I'll give you credit for over the years
as you finally remembered your phone number.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
I was a bit hesident there on that last mate.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Hey good only Allen. Always good to catch up. Enjoy
the afternoon, right mate.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Thanks Andy Catches later.
