Welcome back to the muster. Cal Stewart joins us next
from Open Country. Here's milk supplay manager. Good afternoon, Carl August.
It's starting to get busy.

Certainly is here? Good enoughening to you Andy and your listeners.
He is at the time of the month again to
phone thuring and fled out. So what he's getting one
into carving?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
Yeah, that whole cycle just starts all over again on
the farm. The winter reset as such, winter feeding and
the likes fall for a lot of people. Now it's
all about looking to the prison and looking to the
next couple of months.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
He did, right, you know. For Open Country, I suppose
it hasn't really stopped. We picked up milk through Dune
through July, so it's been pretty constant all the way through.
But obviously things are getting very very busy now and
things are rapping up.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
How are things looking across the country anyway?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Ye're real good, you know. I certainly talked to the
chaps in the Yo this morning. They are certainly we
were dry than normal. There was a wee bit of
our Nino on their minds and I think I'm just
going to watch the space a wee bit. But across
the board everything is going well. All the factories are
up and running. The only factory that's not up and

running at the moment is the MVN obviously the little
sup at the end of the month. But yeah, things
are going well.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Touch with the super our Nino talk is under easting.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It certainly is, and I think I think people in
the north one are certainly more concerned development or we
seem to be here in the south. But just because
the Testant missions must well be in at the moment,
it's a wee bit of a hint off. Like I say,
we were dryer than normal, but as you know, we're
only in August and things can change very quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Now regarding MVM, of course you guys took it over
a few months ago. Now everything's been going well.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, Look we had a great funash to the end
of the season with the MVM. First time it's turned
the profit. I think that the pairs will be a
very happier way it's turned out. And look that ship's
running very well. We've got an open day for the
MVYM plant on the first of October for the MVYM
supplies and open country supplies so that'll be really interesting
(02:20):
to walk through that plant with our supplies. So I
think they're pretty excited about that.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
So that day has changed from what was actually planned
around this time of year, which wasn't really going to
cut the mustard.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Somebody had morning teeth that I.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
Believe are correct. Some of the key people we must
be involved in conversation. That's been rectified and now we've
like said, first of October, and just prior to that,
the day before we've got our farm's meetings down here
itself and as well, so good timing all two boots.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
One to say it will be in the recent engage
the murder the farm amazing as well. Heading into the season,
we're seeing the G. E. D T has been pretty
stagnant for the last for the last sale anyway, after
a couple of declientes the car. As we look forward
into the season here to suppose it's always about new
beginnings and new.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Hope, Yeah, it does, and you're right, Andy, it has
been flat not too much of a consuming coming out
of head office. We just you know, you don't want
to do our business and it would be pretty great
meta of what we're doing. Obviously there's some exciting times
ahead of us. I think, you know, obviously we've got
some things in the pipeline for the plants and cheese

plants coming to the forts on stage. So you, like
I say, Open Country is pretty focused on you know,
where we're going to get that milk and what we're
doing around that space, So you'd like to stay exciting times.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So the supplies you've been speaking to your car, they're
pretty positive around the mood.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, look, I can't certainly obviously there's a lot of work.
You know, we had a certainly had a lot of
new supplies come to over Country this season, and is
a feelable to work involved in doing there, of course.
So the key for us to keep make sure we've
got the ship's owning in the right direction and we
keep just these transparents as possible, and keep giving our

supplies information as we see it, nothing more, nothing less,
really to be fair, cars on the table.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
What seems to be the messaging you're hearing from those
suppliers have changed.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
What are you guys hearing down there?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Oh yeah, look, obviously there's you know, there's a lot
of different things that we do differently compared to the
feathers I think you know. The fundamentals are that the
access to our I suppose to the chim of the
board or the CEO of the company pretty transparent and
people are well aware of that when they come to

our farms meetings. So nothing new really there. We've been
doing it for the last twenty one years. I will
continue to do it and that's what makes us sit
us apart from ebody else.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Something happening in the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
There are a professional evening on the nineteenth of August.
The Landlands and the Cargo certainly talk. This has been
a lot of intellectual property in the one room at
one side.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Imagine we'll get a.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Lot of things resolved. It's always an yes, it did right. Look,
we held last year really good response. So Mark devil
t to you come down and Marx Genia mentioned wool supply.
He came down, and we just eady to check to
the will professionals i e. Banker's accountants, real estate people.

Just given overview of the open countries at the moment
what we're up to when we were hidding. So yeah,
as much as we give out supply as as transparent
as possible, it's the most important that we were taking
on our song for the dun as well.

Is Lurie Margarine coming down by chance?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Unfortunately not married. Laurie's got a really full dory at
the moment, So next time we'll see Laurie will be
at the at the Farmer's meeting on the twenty nine
to September.

Well, I was going to say that's a bit of
a saving grace because he'll be crowing about North Harbor
winning some games this year.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
There's no doubt about that, wonder we haven't any texts,
no doubt he'll bring it up in our meetings as
he always does when here.

So he's good to see the Auckland second team's got
some followers out there.
