Speaker 1 (00:03):
The Muster Events Diary brought to you by Beef and
Lamb New Zealand. Go to beef lamenzed dot com.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
The Fiona Young of Beef and Lamb New Zealand joins
us next.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Good afternoon, Fiona. How are you.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
I'm going well? Thanks Andy, and I've just taken a
walk down memory lane. Is it okay to share that
I attended a went to the Inaccess concert at Mount
Smart Stadium some years ago?

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hey, beef for lad New Zealand.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Quite of it's been going on recently and you've got
about a next how long have we got?

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Not that long? Now?

Speaker 2 (00:37):
If you want to get your votes in regarding the
Southern South Island Director, Yes, yes so, Jeffrey.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Young standing down. We have three excellent candidates standing for
the new director position for Southern South Island. And if
you're listening to this now, race around, find your letters
that had your pin number and password on it and
you've got sort of probably about half an hour or
so to vote boding clothes today at two pm and
then they'll announce the new director at our AGM and

(01:05):
timorrow next week. So yes, you know, as I say,
if you haven't voted, please race around, find the piece
of paper and get online. That would be great.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
How's it been so far regarding votes coming in? Any idea?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Thanks to be honest, know that that all happens sort
of off site, if that makes sense. Ev So someone else,
another business has contracted to take care of that. So no,
we'll we'll just find out the stats after voting closers.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And when do you hope to have an announcement?

Speaker 3 (01:31):
So next week it'll be the a GM next week
that that'll come out. So we're in timorrow next week
for the AGM. I'm going to say, actually I think
it's a Tuesday. It should know that, But timorrow AGM
for beefent ninety seven for this year, and as I say,
we'll announce the new director at that time.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Can anybody go to the AGM as such?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Absolutely? Yes, So if you're interested in attending, jump online
to our events and you'll find all the information date, location,
in timing there at and we encourage people to attend.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Like we say, I call it the cheese roll factor.
If you want an extra cheese roll, you got to
put your name down to to tell people you're turning
up so they can get the grill ready.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Right, undoubtedly, yes, yes, and they'll definitely be this. I'm
sure there'll be Beef and Lamb at some point during
the day.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Absolutely, I'm sure there will field days.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Beef and Lamb's got quite a bit of stuff coming
up on the horizon, I believe.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Oh well, we do. Actually, I just would say, excellent
day at the Lindsay's place on Tuesday, so we had
field Day. They're clear organized, absolute and Anna Erwin organizer
Cracking Farming for Profit Day. So that was Tuesday. That's
just been but actually and then of course we've had
the Wye Moment field Days. We're now into one of

(02:44):
a show, so really would like to encourage anyone who's
up there at the Wanker Show at three pm on
Friday thirteenth Beef and the New Zealand in the Agri Exchange,
which is sort of I guess towards the town side
of the show, and you'll be joined by Kate Aklin
Minister and your Hogguard and we have Halei van lowin

(03:04):
from Craig Investments for a networking hour, so they'll be
talking and there'll be some refreshments and we'll be looking
forward to a good turnout and some good strong discussion
plenty happening. And in this year, I have to say
in there we lead into an election and there's lots
of legislation changes and great kind of outlooks on the
horizon for farming, albeit a little bit softened at the

(03:27):
moment with what's going on overseas. But yeh three pm
be at the Airy Exchange at the Wanaka Show.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yeah, quite a bit happening around the world at the moment.
But you can only control what you can inside the
farm gate. You're just got to let things take its
course and it's all about just doing your management right
and just the obvious.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I suppose that's right.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
And Beef and Lamb in the last few years have
really got back to kind of a behind the farmgate
approach to the work we're doing with our focus groups
and field days and some of the workshops we're putting on.
We're really wanting farmers to actually hone in on production
and product and we've got kind of the data and
the science that we're collecting as well, you know, on
their behalf that will help inform some of that training.

(04:07):
So yes, that's absolutely right. Worry about the things you
can at the moment, we're wanting to make the most
out of our pasture, put weight on lambs and actually
use as we get ready for mating, and get those
beefees you know, grown out so that we can actually
get them out the door. So yes, yeah, definitely behind
the farm gate. Control the things that you can control.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
As far as I wanted to show, have you been
to it lately yourself?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Oh well, actually, if truth be told, I went for
the first time last year. You get it around and
chatted beef and lamb to people and had had some
great conversations. It seems to be, as I say, first
time I've ever been there, so pretty sort of relaxed
the event. Great chance to kind of catch up with people,
talk to other people. Good chance for us to kind
of you know, get beef and lamb on the people's

(04:54):
minds and actually hear what people are thinking as well,
make sure that we're on track with the work we're
doing that production product heavily focused. So yeah, it should
be a good couple of days and say, looking forward
to that event on Friday at three pm.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
That's exactly what we heard about regarding Southern Field Days
at Ya Moomy for you owner, the conversations that were
had and just the vibe as you'd like to call it,
it was fantastic and I think tomorrow at Wanaka.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Is going to be no exception.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Absolutely, and look, you know, there is a good vibe,
there's a really strong feeling and quite frankly, farmers deserve it,
our sheep and bee farmers deserve it after you know,
quite a period of things really not been that great.
So and it's you know, it's good to see people
are investing in R and M. They're doing the repairs
and maintenance, they're catching out for the last few years,
but also taking a breath as well, and just you know,

(05:42):
that's that's a great thing for our for our farmers.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Beef Airmens dot com slash events for the e Diary
to go into your in box every Friday morning as well.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Lovely absolutely and look Andy, you know we've got thirty
first actually we've got an event out at Edendale, so
we've got a dairy beef Genetic event and that's taking
going from sort of the genetics and the rearing right
through to finishing. So we're partnering with Derry Indead on
that event and really looking forward to a good day.
So stirty first of March pop that one in your

(06:11):
diaries as well?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Good and I always appreciate your time. I'm going to
throw this at year. Who was better in their prime?
An excess or Jimmy Barnes.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Oh gosh, now I had to say an excess absolutely
Michael Hatchon's hands down. But then, but then, and those
were the days when HI went to quite a few concerts,
So there was some excellent you know, we had Billy,
We'd Billy Joel, we had do too, we had oh
who was the other one was going to say our
distrates came and giving too much? A ways here about

(06:41):
music taste?

Speaker 2 (06:42):
No, I remember when Dive Straits came over. It was
I think about nineteen ninety one. It was just when
CDs were coming out and you buy the t shirts
for five bucks of eight and.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Jaysh, there you go. And actually, without wanting to go
on pretty much about this, I also got to see
the Whalers, so Bob Marley's been a bit of it,
a massive treat. And oh who was the Icelandic groat with.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
The York York as well?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Yes, saw her in concert, Yes, just next level amazing
so those were the good old days.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Well we we did the Finger Boys last year so
you didn't have to, but we'll leave it at that.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Good on your Fiona catch up next time.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Have a great day.
