Speaker 1 (00:07):
Grant is Aster McMaster on the edges of Closer and
Station or at Glosper and Station. He's on the edges
of Lake Wakatapu joins us once again thanks to Abby
Rural Grunt. Good afternoon, Yeah, good afternoon, Andy, Good afternoon,
everybody life in the basin. How's it been?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Oh, it's been. It's been bloody cold, to put it bluntly, Yes,
since last week. We've had another about fifty two meals
of rain, forty six over the weekends. Friday night and
rained all day Saturday, and then there were twelve meals
before that, and we've had some since. But you know,
snow came down, and it came down pretty low, and

(00:43):
there's still snow on the top, not as much as
it was, but it's still there. And you know, there's
been a bit of a cool easterly breeze coming from
the east Sunday enough, and it's made it very very cold.
So yeah, put the long pants on yesterday, got them
one again today, and I think the probably stay on.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
I think few of them bas and it's snow on
the tops as well. Going by a couple of images
of saying, so you get towards the end of April,
though maybe to be honest, we'll here and gore anyway,
we only break the seal on the fire this week.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, we've had the fire going look the yep for
over a week now and banking it at night. So
it's yet that time the year. You know, normally we
do get a bit of snow sort of early May
and it clears up a bit. But yeah, it's been Yeah,
only had a few frosts and I thought we would
mind you when it snow was raining all the time,

(01:34):
so that the ground's been pretty wet, and the creeks
has certainly grown are running, so we haven't got that
worry before. So yeah, the growth slow, obviously flowing down
but that but of rain's been good and yeah the
sun shining and but it's just a bit cool andy.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
So as far as happenings on the farm, just stayed
as quie as you go through the call of months.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Yeah, just well know the ram goes out in a
few weeks time on the fourteenth of May, so just
shifting mobs around, giving them a bit of a bit
of a fresh pick as they a bit of a
sort of the flushing, so to speak. All those I've
taken to one over the other night and so we
sort of flush our us from the day we wean
them to you know, get the body weight in for
you don't know what's happening around the corner. They go

(02:21):
through the winter with any supplements until we share and
have those three weeks and barling bailers. But you know,
the hills, it's pretty good and it's you know, the user,
the user all in good neck. The U lambs just
got them a bit close around to the yards actually,
and tomorrow they're going to go over to the over
to the home and gully bloat block road over Dowtown

(02:43):
at the hills, so that there's a lot of nice
feed come away from there because there's nothing been on
on there. There's one hundred smaller lambs there, so we'll
get rid of them next week. Hopefully the U lambs
will go over tomorrow and we've got our replacement. Heass
there twenty of those, so they arrived a couple of
weeks ago, so you know, quite a lot of feed

(03:05):
around over there, so and and the crop's good, so
time to get those ulumbs over there and sort of
looked so we got all the feed here for the
users they shoot around disaster.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
It's been the time of rugby centen yields or do
bileeze I keep saying centennials. But that's one hundred now
Lime Hills Stay had there one hundreds at the weekend
you attended that, Wyndham's got there one twenty fifth coming
up this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, so fortunate enough we might have been fortunate enough
for the club, but played a couple of seasons seen
you for Lime Hills and eighty four, eighty five, eighty five,
eighty six, And so I went down there on Friday night,
down to the Mighty Center Bosh, and yeah, it was.
It was a great a great catch up, a really
good turnout. I think two hundred and fifty people there,

(03:49):
and yeah, they had caught up with a lot of
guys and that I hadn't seen for a long time.
And it's just great to get back and and you
know those those years go back, you go back to
those years and the memories and the laughs and what
have you. And yeah, and it was it was a
really good, well run, well run reunion. And congratulations with
the Lime Hills Committee and the district. So no, that

(04:12):
was that was great and looking forward to Windhom' one
hundred and twenty fifth this year. So I came back
from Blockhouse as a young guy and seventeen and played
third grade for a couple of years for Wonderon and
you know, and then when those years going to wait
Cac for the years there, and you know, we're always
played against Windham and kept good friendships with the Windham

(04:34):
guys around Windham. And yeah, looking forward to going down
there and having a Friday night and Saturday night back Sunday,
and that'll be the reunion to me. So I probably
won't get to the next Buggers. And it's a great
way to catch up with people. And when you were younger,
you didn't sort of think about things like that so much,
but as you get older, you know, in fairness probably
you know if there is if we had another one,

(04:56):
well it won't be bloody misbehaving like we have the
last few.
