Farming at Lake Roco and joining us in the Sergeant
Dan Farming ground up. Thanks of course the Sergeant Dan
stock foods. We go and catch up with various farmers
from around the Southern province and we do it every
Monday here on the program. Jamie, good afternoon.

It was a big weekend to wat be honest, the
girl brace Shield came back to Gore and Win had
a couple of quiets as you do on Saturday night.
And yeah, I'm getting better now, thanks for asking.

Yeah, it sounds like your fevers run in about one
hundred and three too for you, mate, not one.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Hundred and three. But when you start getting older, you've
you've certainly got your kryptonite when it comes to having
a couple of cans.

That's right, mate, And then it's the first thing you
forged about when you're gitting a couple as the consequence
of sometimes.

But that's all right, absolutely mate. Loud Lake Roko, how
are you guys fearing over you? We've had a run
of frost searing God, today's actually been reasonably mild sounds
as though you've had a bit of rain.

I mean we're pretty wet there the last well yeah,
seven eight days ago over the weekend. Make think we
ended up with about eighty mil. But we've had a
huge on of frost and it's it's teaming down right
about now. I think short chat one again, but you
know it's yeah, was more traditional with snow on the
mountains again and but it's just winter to on endy.
But all in all, gown pretty good grass. We sort

of went a bit gray and yellow with all the frosts,
but it's just hanging around there, covers just sitting probably
where we need them and want them hollow down.

Would the snow be on the hills, No, it's.

Still right up on the Tussic mate right up hy.
You know, we don't like we're any the bottom of farm.
We're one hundred metres above sea level, so from the
top spit three hundred I think. But we've had nothing
dusting up on top yet. So again gam pretty good
to be fair andy, Yeah, just took it away on
top of them to school holidays and just winter.

Mode yet again. The lake of snowfall heading into the
middle of lie, it's intriguing.

Yeah, I think what is up there will hang around
for a wee bit. Well, on that note, with a
couple of inches around, it might just siprotate. But yeah,
well finally it might be a good year to own
a skifield to see they're back into a charge and
so they'll be probably the earliest those boys have got going. Yeah,
but no, just wait and see what's coming around the
corner with all the seal Nino chef and what have you,
and just hopefully we can get a spring in a

I think Scotty just finished again in the yesterday. I think, well,
I just what was about one hundred and semi four
across the whole lot that's too deuced in mixed age
cast forragly with him, So it's probably well that you is.
We're in good Nick. Yeah, everything's still pretty good conditional
with careful stock and yeah, nothing's nothing's getting nothing's on

controlled starvation yet. So that's quite nice, good place to
be just at the moment. So yeah, and.

Yeah, we don't sort of we must have a way

Yep, yep. Now the singles beyond crop and to will
just stick around on the grass and triple it's all up.
They'll be getting getting feed and looked after a bit
of a curse. But I mean, you got to do
everything you can. They didn't. They don't get to ask
any lambs I've got on them. So you just do
everything you can. Signs twin bearing cares. But yeah, you
just see that. Yeah, just plug away, just feed. It's

always good to feed stopping.

As far as tripless, do you just find them an
absolute nuisance or is it a case of it is
what it is. And you know, if if you want
to go around there on your lambing bait you they
just be a lamb.

Do you got to be fem mate. I don't do
much from the sheep front around here, which there's a
lot of people now and all will be kidling the
mane and then obviously with enough scale, the count's going
to look after that. And now they do what they
can and putting the odd one off here and there,
a little bit of mother and up and the Pedican
just fill the gaps and been through the whole lamb
wearing things, a couple of machines and that and done

it for a couple of years and just seeing what
rolled out the bottom and going forward it might be
worth a crack again to rears some of those lambs,
but I don't know, there's a lot of work, there's
and lot a lot of sheep out, there's a lot
of work in them. So yeah, they just just called
carter as we see it.

Really, it'll be interesting how those markets go, especially lambs
last week at Longville cracking four hundred dollars for the tops,
So you know, we're seeing the money that's coming out
for these spring contracts just pretty much reflective of the
market too.

Yeah, Yeah, it's yeah, it's dangerous gram but I don't
know we need it. Perhaps it would be nice to
think it's going to hang around that. Probably the Oval
one market probably scares me more so than the Oval
and market. Yeah, it's just interesting you're starting with them.
What's sitting on the word old stage. You know what,

The Lambs obvious got a bit more competition was to
go out and that internationally. So but we'll wait and see.
We'll just wait and see. At least their their newest
horror shone freezing plants have been well a lot more
competitive and more grassroots. So we'll baby steps.

Around, mate, Yeah, probably hanging my head on the bow
of one is a bit better for probably longer term
at the stage. But just what's done on this in

So the Lamb situation, what you made your concerned that

Peaked, Yeah, just yeah. I think it's probably climbed up
quite quickly. And obviously a history zuming or markets, something
goes up very quickly, it tends to fall down very quickly,
whereas the big things sort of just trudged away for
probably two years, I suppose, and it's got as to
where we are and it's you know, just taking along.
