Oh, I did a very little bit, not a not
a whole lot, to be perfectly honest, not because any
other reason. I'm probably not a huge TV watcher apart
from sport.

We catch up on a regular basis. You guys have
been fled out at the moment. Cal skinning.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah, look, that's certainly been in full swing for the
last few weeks. Probably just going to hit a slice
lull over the next week or ten days because we
sort of do all of that early scanning to start
off with. Then you have a bit of a break
and then we'll be into sort of final empty rates.
So we don't have any final not in caff rates
(01:13):
at the moment. What we have at the moment is
our six week in caf rates or sort of seven
week for some guys depending on when they've done it,
but on the whole things looking not too bad. The
first few that we did started off a little bit
was a bit average, but just recently things have certainly
picked up a bit and we you know, we now
have a number of people that are certainly hidden that

seventy eight, seventy nine percent and in fact one of
eighty percent six week in caf rates, which has been
awesome to see. Yeah, quite often we get years where
milk production has been good that reproduction is not so good,
and certainly for most of us here in Northern Settland
they production levels have been pretty good this season and

guys hit pretty high takes, but the way the weather
is gone, they've actually managed to hold on to production
pretty well. There was even somebody last week and their
older herd is still doing two point seven as an average,
which is pretty incredible for this time of year. And look,
yes there is a bit of supplement going in, but
it just goes to show how you know, when you

get a season that works for you from the point
of view of getting sufficient rainfall that you are able
to keep grass quality. So it's been Yes, it looked
at the moment, touch wood, things looking pretty good out there.

A lot of people saying the same thing.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Nast they haven't had the sound that they want, but
none the least, it's still hit the feed coming through
and like you say, this vain reflected on the milk quantities.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, look it has I guess possibly. You know, the
one sector that's going to be suffering a little little
bit with the lack of sun will be lambs, and
you know what their growth rates are like. They certainly
do like to have the sun on their back. But
from the point of view of grass growth, grass quality,
and the dairy guys certainly have been able to keep

that under control and they've been you know, they've been
steaming along pretty well here and on the Sutland anyway.

In general, dy lams aren't doing too bad or just
a little bit hard because they need the yellow.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I think a little bit hard because they need the yellow.
Probably just not quite getting away the way that you
would expect that they would, you know, And I guess
the other area to look at there is certainly is
going to be parasite burdens and things like that. You know,
there's been a big change which has been great to
see in the number of people that are doing seek
(03:31):
Allegg counts and monitoring what's going on. So you know,
lots of people are doing it post drenching, which is
really really good. So we have an idea drench actually working.
And yeah, we are continuing to pick up resistance, there's
no two ways about that. But equally a lot of
people have been pretty surprised at how far out they
are able to stretch and the intervals between drenches and

as long as it works in with trying to get
lambs away and things like that. It's you know, and
sort of take a little bit to get your head
around it at time, but it is it's, you know,
things are looking pretty good out there generally.

To be fair, I suppose if there is a positive
around this, drench resistance is effect that has been brought
to awareness and more people are cottoning onto it.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh, look one hundred percent. And it's that in old
added or cliche, if you can't measure, you don't know
what's going on. And so people are now actually actively
you know, being accountable for what they are doing. So
they are they are measuring, they are looking at fecal accounts,
they are keeping an eye on things, and that's yeah,
(04:36):
that's a really really good thing because the more information
that people have, the better decisions they're able to make
around what they are doing. And yeah, hopefully it means
that you're pushing that level of resistance out a little
bit further. And I guess that we are coming into
a bit of a danger area from the point of
(04:56):
view of resistance with regards to our autumn stuff, because
we certainly see a lot more resistance to try Castrongolus
than we see to any of the other worm types,
and you know, that tends to be a bigger issue
in autumn. It's sort of not around a lot of
the rest of the year in any great numbers. But
you know, again, as long as we measure, as long
(05:18):
as we monitor, we're able to make decisions and we're
able to you know, come up with a plan around
what we're doing. So yeah, the more the more information
people have, the easier it is to make divisions, no
question about that.

As far as horses, you guys do a lot of work.
See what's been hitting lightly.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
Yeah, look, absolutely we do. So you know, we deal
with mecolodge, which obviously is one of the biggest breeding establishments,
not just in the South Island but in the country actually,
to be perfectly honest. So yeah, we're just at the
end of our mating season there and yeah, just tidying
(05:55):
up the last few strugglers see whether or not they
are in fall. And yeah, it's been been a big
season as the team do a great job there and
you know, it's something that certainly keeps a couple of
us very very busy over over the summer. And but yeah,
we're just about the end of the season. The other
(06:15):
thing that we do a lot of is we do
a lot of vicy dentals, and so we have been
busy with that as well. And probably just because I
am so busy with the stud work, we don't do
as many dentals just over the supper period, but we're
just cracking into them again at the moment. So it's
just a bit of a juggling act trying to work
(06:35):
everything out from the point of view of gen and cows,
kan and mayors and doing horses to.

are all out and yeah, possibly even the next two
tight head props as well. So yeah, it's not looking
very promised. I have to say I'm not I'm not
looking forward to Friday morning here to watch that game.
