Yeah it looks like a yeah, young unproven. It's a
It's a pretty young looking squad, isn't it, especially when
you when you look at that back line as well,
and you know the likes of there's some obviously some
gaps here. Fulla toy Penny who's been such a such
a comer, I guess in that in that midfield for
the Stags the last couple of years, obviously one of

the victims of that Mawana Pacificus situation. So yeah, there
is there's some players there. I guess. We've seen them
come up, you know, they've been coming up through those
development ranks. There's been some great work done by the
likes of Scott ad Marty McKenzie met Saunders before him,
to sort of bring these young players through and there

was always going to be a time, I suppose when
they had to start actually proving themselves at the NPC level,
and it looks like it's going to be twenty twenty.

Six a couple of Japanese players in there. I found
it interesting on the Stags on the social channels saying
this does great things for the Invercago Kumagaia relationship, of
course being sisters cities.

But my initial reaction was, what has that got to
do with rugby?

Yeah? Interesting angles that one, isn't it. I'm not sure
I completely disagree with you, to be honest, look to
be honest, and I don't think this is a massively
controversial call. But the Stags are an interesting spot. I
guess as a franchise or as a representative team, I
don't think we put the same sort of heat on

the Southern Sharks or the Southern Steel in terms of,
you know, are they bringing young, young talent through? We
do it expect that that's what the Stags will be.
It'll be it'll be our Southland based team. But where
there's holes, you know, we need to bring players in
that can provide that framework around our young players. When
I say this, I guess the locally developed young players

to give them a chance to shine. So that's just
the reality. And we're a small union. We have to
do that if we want to be competitive against the
big unions. And that's what we see. I guess, especially
late in the season, you see a number of these
players that are coming in from basically all over the world.

Galbray's Shield final on Saturday, Pirates Old Boys against Eastern
Northern Barbarians are repeat of the final from two years ago.
Pob's have been there or thereabout, so I think the
last four seasons or something ridiculous. Barbars won the title
their only title in twenty sixteen. What do you think's
gone unfold?

Yes, it's going to be really interesting. And to be honest,
I mean Pirates Old Boys they just have such great
depth across their club. They've set up a great culture
there and they've they've they've created a clubrooms that that
people want to be a part of and and because
of that they've got they've just got players across the board.
I guess the outcome of that is that as you say,

they are there or thereabouts, when it's when it's come
to Finals rugby in recent years. Can they get across
the line in this one? You know, the bar Bars
dove set the pace all year. I think they've only
dropped one game and they've got potentially a talisman for
them Morgan Mitchell, but this could potentially be his last

game of last game of rugby, so what what a
swan song it would be for him. I was actually
really surprised when you think about when I think about
the Barbarians, you know, they have been a pace setter
for Club Rugby for some time. The fact that they've
only won one Galbro's Shield title and it was ten
years ago, actually surprised me. But yeah, I'd put a

dollar each way to be fair.

They've proven they've got a good bench as well this weekend.
But you look at the other side of the coin
and Greg Dyer quite simply sits in the pocket and
that final two years ago he just kicked them into
submission and he kicked for territory and found it every time.
So he's so pivotal to this POB side.

Yeah, and we saw that in the semi final. The
Pob we're in a little bit of trouble potentially against
Woodlands early and early in that that game, and then
Greg Dye obviously they're coming off the farm out at
Windham and coming into town. I think he kept sort
of three penalties in the space of five to ten
minutes to turn the momentum of that game towards Pirates

old boys and they and they got the win. So
you're right, a little general with plenty of our finals experience.
He's played all around the world as well, so you know,
so vital out out there at Least George. They'll have
a they'll have a nice dry track that'll be there'll
be a big thing. Obviously, good move by Rugby South
Into to move that away from Rugby Park, which is

a bit damp at the moment and send it out
to Least George. It'll be a great atmosphere. It's a
real amphitheater, a real bowl out there, so i'd imagine
it'll be packed with supporters from the country and from
the town.

Is Rugby Park that bad at the moment.

I haven't trot across it myself, but I would imagine
things in town are actually reasonably went under foot, So yeah,
I would say it's you know, and obviously with NPC
just around the around the corner, they won't want to
be doing too much damage to it at the moment.
But least George, I actually think it's a great scene
for for a Gabra Shield final, to be honest, as

I say, that sort of amphitheater effect that you get
all the cut, all the cars pulled up and that
sort of thing, you forget a decent enough afternoon, it'll
be a great place to be.

I thought I was doing my best to sit on

Blues broake their duck. They won up in Brisbane, which
is pretty surprising and we're pretty convincing in the end
of it.

Yeah, broke my heart, to be honest, over at Queensland supporter,
and I guess it was all set up for the
for the Marines to take the take the series win
last night and see they just but that that that
Blues team just played, played really well. And to be honest,
when they scored that that long range trying the second
half way decided that I was I was hitting for bed.
That was that was game over for me. So yeah,
