Welcome back to the Master. I'm Olivia with Aburn and
we are now hitting too craig Investment Partners here and
Gore to catch up with investment advisor Sam Grant. Sam,
how are.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
You no doing really well? Thank you, Olivia. You're trying
to just to the recent winter weather that survived.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
We've had it so good for so long.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Oh, absolutely pretty mold. One time wasn't sign to my
morns for slighting to the you we.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Were talking off here. We've got the TV themes of Yesteryear,
but both you and I we know what Night Writer
and how Danger'sone links and to it. But a little
before our times.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yeah no, I remember watching an episode one as the kid,
and I thought it seemed old back then.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
So a lot's happening around the financial space at the moment.
Market's steady despite global uncertainty.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, so effectively, as probably most listeners are well aware,
there's been a few of it going on sort of geopolitically,
particularly in and around the Middle East with Iran and
obviously sort of disrupting oil supply, which obviously had a
bit of a flow on effect, particularly for Shemer. For
what we have seen, particularly in the last week, is
(01:37):
things to sort of the volatilityous that slowed down a
week bit. Markets up quite a bit for the quarter,
so like the US market alone for the during quarter
is already up about eighteen or twelve percent, but we
did see quite a strong rider in the last week
and at the start of this week with the talks
(01:58):
coming out. There's potential for peace steel or the head
sign of peace steel in Iran. Yeah, obviously mains be
seen how long that a last or whether that's enduring,
but markets sort of seem to like that news and
probably seen as well with the sort of continued AI
boom market sort of lock throwing a lot of that
(02:19):
sort of potential geopolitical risks and sort of soldiering on.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
So continually moving and just sort of wash the space
At the moment.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, absolutely, I think things are probably a lot more
positive than what they were two or three months ago,
I think at best, So it work hopefully it's a
bit of a lightly the end of the tunnels, given
this little bubbles Toildy was seen driven out of the
Middle East and it's.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
A big week of here for the central banks.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, absolutely so, as we've seen with sort of oil
supply sort of tightening around the world, what you tend
to get is a bit of inflationary pressure. So as
where you know, oil tends to drive most things. So
you think product you buy anywhere, you know it's been
shipped on a truck or shipped over seas on ships,
(03:05):
and you know the cost to do that, and there
was rising oil prices that it fixed that costs which
eventually has to be passed on, so which is effectively inflationary.
So it's starting to see inflation creep back around the world.
Obviously had a bit of an easing cycle where interest
rates have been cut product doomerally around the world, but
we're starting to see a few a few central banks
(03:27):
sort of endericay they might have just start increasing interest
rates just to sort of help catail some of that
inflationary pressure. And then in the US yet I've got
a new chair at the Fed as lost as will
probably we call Jerome Power. It was the former chair.
I didn't quite see eye to eye with Trump. Trump
was very keen on interest rate cuts, but he sort
(03:49):
of stage strong on maintaining their interest rates where they
are due to inflation. So it'll be interesting to see
if there's sort of a change of tune coming out
of the feed which is a bit more aligned with
the administration.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Does anyone see face to face with Frump?
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Probably those that we've got a few yets men somewhere.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
And do you think this.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
New chair will change things from your perspective, like what
are your guys views in regards to what he brings
to the table.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Yeah, so probably he's a weave more open to cutting
rates effectively to get things moving. But at the end
of the day, probably still see the fit being recently
independent from the administration, which is what you want to
see in your central being.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
And SpaceX has make the massive market debut. For those
of haven't heard who's SpaceX is? Tell us a little
bit about that.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, so SpaceX was originally set up by Elon Musk,
sort of well known these days, but only is sort
of the all of the main founder of teslers in
SpaceX has sort of been as space exploration company, which
has been quite aspirational sort of looking at doing things
(05:07):
like Colonoz and Mars would be some of the more
extreme things, but then the more commercial things between, like Starling,
which is sort of well known through the world sector
in terms of the satellite internet, so it does have
some sort of really good commercial parts to it. Yes, effectively,
they done an IPO, so initial public offering in the US.
(05:28):
What made it really interesting is they only effectively sold
off four percent of the company, so ninety six percent
of it was still held by the private shareholders who
held it before it listed, so pretty small portion. But yeah,
effectively valued the business well into the tillions now, So
it was effetively one of the biggest IPOs we've ever seen.
(05:50):
Sort of had an initial jumping the share price about
thirty one percent on day one and it's now sort
of rocking it up, so sort of odd percent not
thing is what topped out a throughout three days of trading,
but yeah, sort of on some mess evaluations coming doesn't
make a lot of money at the moment. Yes, you're
kind of buying a story weave it, so it'll be
(06:12):
interesting to see what happens over the next sort of
a month or two because Big Drive as well be
a lot of those private shareholders. I'm glad to sell
the shares until sort of middle July, so as they
come in out of Escro, potentially you could see quite
a bit of selling pressures. You know, there's stories of
sort of people engineers and Wilders and stuff who managed
(06:33):
to pick up shares as part of the employee share scheme.
There'll be in millionaires effectively, so the interesting story to
see what comes out of there here.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, I was going to say, with his debut to
that market, how it's going to fit and a flow
on effect from that for everybody else.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah. I mean the other thing is well, spaces of
the fectively transition onto a bit of a AI name
as well, and we've got sort of potentially en topic
and open AI looking the list of well before the
end of the year.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
So I'll watch the space if anyone wants to come
and have a check to you, guys, Sam where they
find you.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, so we're at one K Street opposite the Gore
New World. Otherwise, think it us a call on two
oh nine zero one five three or the crags dot com. Cool.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Thank you, very much Sleah Sam Grunt from Craig's investment.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
That is,
