now to catch up with Trev Stark. He's involved with
the Southern Into a Charity Dog Trial which is underway tomorrow.

It the eleventh edition of the Southern Into a Charity
Dog Trail tomorrow?

Is that correct?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
That's correct, This is the eleventh year. So you know
we've been enough started off I think for rescue Helicopter
in the first years and or first one or two years,
and then it's been all going to Hospice since and
we're very proud to support hospice.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
How much have you raised over those years? Was a
figure I read like one hundred and forty thousand dollars
or something?
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, I think that'll be correct.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
That's pretty good going for an organization that you guys
are out there.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Well, the beauty about it is we can there's not
many dog trials at this time of the year and
and guys can come out run the dogs have a
bit of fun but are socializing and all the whole
way we're raising money for hospice.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
So how many competitors turn up from up north?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
None from the North Island, but we do go as
far as Blenham, so there's blen them and quite a
few out Canterbridge.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
So it's fair to say it's got a good word
out there and people happy to travel for these events.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Well, you guys to do that, your sales are spose
going up country.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah, that's that's probably one of the bonuses of the things,
that's traveling until we've got to get guys together and
away you go.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
So how much organization goes into an event like this?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Oh look, let's take a bit and there's there's a
committee of sixteen and there are an awesome committee everyone
for the pools. That wait, everyone has jobs to do.
It probably starts a month ago that we put in
call for entries for it, and then the secretary puts
Jude puts all the plates, all the entries and we

do a draw. The week leading up to it or
this week leading up to that, we've trained the sheep
and shedding basically setting up. So yeah, and there's a
good crew here to do it.

How many sheepe are involved?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
About five hundred?

Jeez, A few they just saw.

Likely I suppose there are source from Mark Taylor next
door to us or next door to the field days

So the year was spoiled. In the past we've had

Sunday trev what can people expect?

Public are more than welcome to come out and see
some good dogs working. We start at seven and probably
go to of US five six each day finals on Sunday,
which we're hoping to be about sometime a rumber eleven
o'clock or fractionally after. So the top five from the

first two days because of sixty four of odd runs
the thirstday and the top two from the Sunday have
a run off.

Again, is all just hitting dogs? Is that correct?
Speaker 4 (03:24):
It's just hitting dogs? Yes, yep.

Are you doing the backup this year?
Speaker 4 (03:29):
No, we're not, but we do. We do run a
training for two guys coming down from Cross Church, Andy
mcneh Andy Clark and Ian Stevenson, who are going to
be catching kids on how to train dogs or any
young kid that's not for you, but any young people
that are interested in learning how to train dogs to

help them.

So I've seen it on your social channels.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
You're looking at working with Tail for the Lights, getting
young students to come along for TEPS. There's it been
good buying from that from areas likes Telford.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yeah, there has been some buying and growing Future Farmers
is another one that's been very good buying from. So yeah,
and we encourage like if they go and have a
go at this and watch this year if they're not,
if they think they're not up to my encourage.

How would you describe the dog for Dog Trialing fraternity
on a whole At the moment tree is it in
a pretty good spot?
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I think so. It's probably the age beverage age is
climbing up, but there's still there's still a good bunch
of young people coming into it.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
So the passion remains for the industry. That that's the
undying thing around this.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
I suppose I reckon the passion's definitely there.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Yeah, now you're just think, sorry mate, you're defending champions
from last year as well.

No, no, there's no preci.

Just regarding the competition for the public, if they want

Go Look, we would appreciate it because anything goes to hospice.

for anyone wanted to come in and watch. Sure, so yeah,
we encourage the public to come and if they want
to make a donation, that is entirely up to them.

That's correct, This is the eleventh year. So you know
we've been enough started off I think for rescue Helicopter
