(00:34):
Rise Up Sea Red Podcast. Imean best, the best our Cardinals talk
of the web on your host JessRoot from Cardswire dot com, the USA
NFL wire site Covernaders on the Cardinals. And this is one of our fourteen
shows in fourteen days, the opponentPreview series where we talk to one of
most of the time one of themanaging editors of our sisters sites for the

(00:54):
Arizona Cardinals opponents. And in thiscase we are in the NFC East or
um, a team that was along time arrival, but they never thought
much of us when we were theNFC East because the Cards were terrible.
Uh. Katie Drummond from Cowboys Wire. Katie back on the show in fact
um after we've been a couple ofyears, but we've seem to play each

(01:18):
other kind of regular Katie. Welcometo the show. How you've been.
I'm oh, it's great to haveyou back. I always enjoy that.
Um. So also let's go look. Let's look at the Cowboys season last
year. The NFC East a veryvery competitive UM were the worst team was

(01:38):
a five hundred team essentially h andbut it was dominated ultimately by by the
Eagles. But the Cowboys were rightthere twelve and five uh, second place
in the division. They they beatthe Tampa Bay Buccaneers uh, ending Tom
Brady's career essentially, and then goon to lose to brock Purty and the

(02:01):
forty nine ers in the divisional round. Brock Purty managed to beat everyone except
the Eagles, who tours a elbowup. So ye tell me about last
season. Didn't meet or exceed expectationsor did they fall short? I think
in general you have to look atit as meeting expectations. They made it

(02:22):
to the playoffs. Say we're onthe road. I mean, nobody's defended
the NFC East crown in twenty somethingyears. So if you look at it
from that perspective, the Cowboys weren'tsupposed to win the NFC East. But
I think it was a shock formost people that Jalen Hurts played as well
as he did. That Jonathan Gannonhad an offense cater to Jalen Hurt's skill

(02:43):
set the way that he did toallow them to excel, so that caught
people by surprise. But it feelslike unfinished business simply because of the fact
that the Eagles defeated Cooper Rush. The Cowboys defeat did Gardner Minshew, and
we never got a chance to seewhat happens when Dak Prescott and Jail and

(03:05):
Hurts meet up on the big stagewith Hurts being an actual competitive quarterback because
in the past, I mean, the Cowboys have owned the Eagles for the
last several years. But seeing thisnew and improved Eagles team, we never
got the chance to make that statement, and we kind of got embarrassed in
San Francisco. No shame in losingto that defense, having that defense shut
you down, and we can talk, you know, get more in depth

(03:28):
about the reasons that the Cowboys fellshort after they absolutely throttled the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers a week earlier. But yeah, all in all, I would say
that making it to the Divisional roundwas probably the ceiling for the offense.
The defense could have taken them allthe way if the cards had fallen a
little bit differently. But they faced, honestly, a defense that was just

(03:52):
as good as Dallas as was,and they just weren't able to get over
the hump on offense. They justdidn't have enough weapons. Now, for
all of those awards that party hasabout arm strength and so on and so
forth, that Kyle Shanahan system isjust phenomenal, as you know very well.
It's it's it's very very very quarterbackfriendly. And he did enough in

(04:15):
that game. I mean, weheld him to nineteen points. It's not
like we had a bad defensive effort. And when when your offenser isn't doing
anything to hold in the pumps innineteen points, you know that you're pretty
proud of that. But yeah, our offense just didn't have the weapons,
uh that that were necessary to winthat game. We lost Tony Pollard before
halftime, no wide receivers, andwhen you're playing a demik O Ryan's defense,

(04:35):
you kind of get exposed. Youknow. That's kind of what the
Fourdanders do. They figure out howto expose your weakness. And for the
Cowboys was that Dak Prescott did nothave many weapons to go to, and
he panicked, made a couple baddecisions m one that was crucial that pretty
much lost in the game before halftime, and then one letter in the game
when they were trying to come back. That is a dropped interception or you

(05:00):
know, a turnover worthy play asthey call it. But yeah, he
didn't play a good game and wegot burned by it. And now they're
back to the drawing boards scene whatthey can do in twenty twenty three.
How do Cowboy's fans still feel aboutDak Prescott. We see that, we
see that. I know think myson describes him as black Kirk Cousins.

(05:23):
That's that's harmful, that that isvery harmful. He is, he is
a much better quarterback than Kirk Cousinsis. I would agree, anti agree,
I'm anti Kirk Cousins. I he'she's improved over the last couple of
years where he's not as bad asI make him out to be. I
still maintain the jokes because that's justour'm built. But I called him Kurt

(05:43):
Grossman because he's Rex Grossman to meet. But the last the last couple of
years, he has definitely improved. But I just don't see him as a
quarterback. I mean, Kirk doesn'tperform under the spotlight, you know,
the night games and the prime timewhenever they're featured. You know those things.
It's a long laundry list of reasonswhy I don't think he's one of

(06:04):
the upper echelon quarterbacks in the league. Dak Prescott I think has proven on
a big stage enough that he iscapable of being that guy. He's not
a top four or five quarterback, but he's certainly in the group of quarterbacks
at rotate between six and twelve, and any given year you're going to have

(06:26):
a different group of those people.I mean, you live it. I
love how you say that, because, yeah, I'm almost like your top
two or three are set, andthen everyone after that. It just is
a mishmash of who who's performing betterthat year. I love that you said
that. They don't hear it awhole lot, especially offseason where people's like
the Actually, they're all kind ofthe same depending on the year, right,

(06:50):
Dak Prescott through fifteen interceptions in twelvegames last year. Uh, sorry,
my headset is dying. Sorry Iheard our announcement. I thought I
was a school or something somebody overthe intercom selling me that my batteries dying.
But Dak Prescot through fifteen interceptions intwelve games last year, plus what
he did against San Francisco in theplayoffs, and honestly, that puts him

(07:12):
at the bottom of the list basedon last year results. But he is
certainly capable of being that guy.We see it when you look at quarterbacks
from the perspective of taking away Iknow it's blasphemy to a lot of fans
to take away turnovers, but it'ssuch a small percentage of every play that
the quarterback makes. It's like sackswith defensive ends. Sacks are the ones

(07:32):
that get on ESPN, they makethe highlights, they get you know,
they make the rounds on social media. But it's such a small percentage of
whether or not a defensive end isgood. You can get pressures, you
can do run stops, you cando all of those sorts of things that
they don't get. The accolades forquarterbacks and interceptions are pretty much the same
way. You remember the interceptions, but it's only three percent of the throws

(07:54):
they made, and Dak Prescott isreally good on every other throw that he
makes. He actually, I meanhe was. He cleared the field when
it came to accuracy when throwing toopen receivers. And that sounds funny,
but that basically, um puts itin a nutshell. The Cowboys don't have
receivers that get opened aside from CDlamp, but whenever somebody was opened,

(08:16):
Dak Prescott lapped the field of NFLquarterbacks as far as accuracy to the open
guys, finding the open guys, delivering the ball on time, and things
of that short. So we've seenhim do it. He just has to
minimize those turnovers. And I thinkhe's right back up there into a top
seven or eight discussion again. Okay, before we move on to the oposite,
just this question to Tony Romo orprime deaf Prescott. Don't do this

(08:39):
to me, man, you're tuggingall my heartstrings. Manum, I love
Tony Romo. I uh, hewas given he would they for me.
Tony was given teams that needed Peytonmanning and he wasn't quite Peyton. Yes,
he was all he was just sureof that, but like he was
that good, but then you know, he did a few, you know,

(09:03):
just the things you're like, oh, crap then, because he's not
Peyton Manning. That team was notbuilt to succeed without that. Yeah,
I think it's honestly, it's awash to me. I think they are
so similar and they both have clearshortcomings, and they both have ceilings that
if you put the right team aroundthem and you get the right circumstances,

(09:26):
they absolutely can win you a championship. And I think that's what you get
out of that Tier two quarterback, the guys that aren't consistently looked at as,
oh, this guy is a surefireHall of Famer. I think that's
the ceiling of what you're going toget. If you don't have the great
supporting castrom around them, they're probablygoing to get you to wild card or
divisional round. And if you getthe perfect mix of talent around them,

(09:48):
they are more than capable of winningthat big game, performing in the clutch,
and doing everything that you ask ofthem. Coming on next on the
resipe here with podcasts, but EricCut's talking on the layers to move to
the off season free agency in thedraft, What did the Cowboys do the
what's coming on exergenisis he read we'reback on the residence here read podcast best
Our Cardinal's talk on the web. Now, moving on to the offseason moves,

(10:09):
the free agency will start. Obviously, the two premier moves that we
know that were made one goodbye ezekiellIt and franchising Tony Pollard ultimately not coming
up with the deal. Um,But yes, it's starting with Elliott.
How big a loss is that atthis point in his career? Um?
I know that, as we sawonce again, you pay a big time

(10:33):
running back and then the wheels falloff. It happens almost every single time.
But how how rough was it orand will his loss impact Dallas that
much? I don't think people aregiving it enough credit what Elliott did for
the Cowboys. He was a clearleader. While Dak Prescott was kind of

(10:56):
cutting his teeth in the league,Elliott was a face of the franchise and
he's still well revered as that leader. I mean that Prescott obviously has incredible
intangibles as far as a leader, but one B to his one A was
Ezechel Elliot when it came to theoffense. And I think there's going to
be missed. I think having thatleader is going to be missed. And
plus I mean, the guy scorestouchdowns. He was a short yardage monster.

(11:20):
And Tony Pollard is somebody that forall of his accolades and for all
of his talents, he's never beena bell cow back. He was never
a lead rusher. While he wasat Memphis, he played, you know,
he split out wide more often thanhe was in the backfield. While
he was at Memphis. He didn'tcarry a folo while he was in high
school. So the expectation that heis going to be able to move up

(11:41):
from the two hundred plus carries thathe had last year and absorb the majority
of Elliot's two hundred and thirty carries, I think that's a pipe dream for
fans that think is going to bethat way. And so the Cowboys didn't
go out and get another star runningback. They are starting to look at
it as a committee type of situation, and you're going to have a mix
of either Malik Davis, who's aUDFA, Rico Dawdle who's a UDF,

(12:03):
a deuced Vaughan who was a sixround pick. And they signed Ronald Jones
in the off season. I don'teven think Ronald Jones is gonna make the
fifty three man roster. Personally,I mean, he's a name, but
what has he done in the lastcouple of years when given the opportunity.
Not much, So I think they'regoing to miss Elliott just because of the
amount of workload he can do,and they don't have right now a proven

(12:26):
short yardage back. Now, theydo have a North Dakota State UDFA fullback
Hunter Luepki, and I would probablylook for him to be that pet cat
nobody season coming, but he couldget three to four carries a game and
become like a cult hero because he'sgoing to get those short yardage opportunities.

(12:46):
I don't see anybody else on theroster that can get that, because you
certainly don't want to waste Tony Pollardhaving him run up the gut and you
know, while there's eight men inthe box and doing those sorts of things.
So it'll be interesting how that playsout. Others is Connor McGovern,
Noah Brown, New Gifford were anyof those is McGovern's lost any real impact

(13:07):
the other guys, Alan would behonest, Noah Brown and Louke Gifford are
not names I recognized, So ifthat's as much no, it does says
a lot because Noah Brown was oursecond wide receiver last year. So that
circles back to my point too aboutthe difficulties that Dak Prescott had. Michael
Gallup was a shell of himself lastseason. He was coming off of the

(13:28):
ACL He probably rushed back, sothey really didn't have a compliment to Cedee
Lamb on the outside, and NoahBrown took up a lot of that slack
and he had very infamous balls offof his hand, off of his chest
interception. The pick six loss toJacksonville and overtime was because the ball hit
Noah Brown in the chest and hefumbled it and it popped up in the
air and they picked it off andran it back for a touchdown and overtime

(13:50):
like that goes on Dak prestoss ledger, but that's absolutely wide receiver's fault.
So from that perspective, I'm notgoing to miss Noah Brown. He did
his job. He was like blockingwhy receiver who was thrust into a bigger
role because of a lack of competition. But he's not a He's not a
huge loss that he was replaced byBrandon Cooks. And I know you want
to talk about, you know, additions in a little bit. But Connor

(14:11):
McGovern he was serviceable. He wasn'tvery strong. He never really got the
requisite strength to be that left guardthat you're looking for. But he was
kind of forced into the situation becausewe lost to Ron Smith early and you
know, right before the season, and we had to shift the rookie taller
Smith out to left tackle. SoConnor mcgovernment filled in. He wasn't anticipating,
anticipated to start and so he played, but not a big loss.

(14:33):
I don't think the Cowboys had reallyany major losses aside from Ezeka Elliott in
the all season Dalton Schultz ends upwith Houston. But the addition is the
big name editions, uh Stefan Gilmour, Brandon Cooks. How how impact were
those guys going to be? ObviouslyCooks, who is when he's engaged really

(14:56):
good? Yeah, will he stayengaged in with the Cowboys? Do you
think it? And I would guessit probably at least year one? Right,
So when you look at Brandon Cooks, and I'm glad you said year
one because when you look at BrandonCooks and you look at all of the
stops that he made year one.Brandon Cook always seems to make a splash.
He is. He was phenomenal inthe second years with the Saints once

(15:18):
he got his feet, you know, feet wet under him. Eleven hundred
yards. First year with the Patriots, he had over a thousand yards.
First year with the Rams, hehad twelve hundred yards. First year with
Houston he had over eleven hundred yards. So you would anticipate that if he
has anything left in the tank,he is definitely going to do that for
the Cowboys. You can't blame somebodyfor being disinterested with what happened the last

(15:41):
two years in Houston, and hestill performed in year two in Houston.
But last year, everybody knew thatthey were a tanking team. Lovey Smith
obviously reped their plans. Shout outto Lovey. I love the fact that
he just said, you know, screw everybody and we're gonna win this last
game. I don't care about thenumber one pick because I'm not going to
be here to reach the benefits. But I think that's the easily that's the

(16:02):
easy way to explain what happened tohim last year in Houston. But there
is a chance that he's washed thatyou know, he doesn't have the same
speed. I mean, nine yearsin the league for a burner. Speed
is probably the first thing to gofor most people. So there's a consideration
that he isn't going to be whatthe Cowboys hope for him to be.
There's always a risk. Same waywith Stefan Gilmour. He bounced back with
Indianapolis last year and had, youknow, a remarkable season for a future

(16:26):
Hall of Famer. What if thatwas his last hurrah? And the Cowboys
have all these plans to have himbe the compliment to Trevon Diggs on the
outside, and he's washed. SoI think they made smart decisions and not
going big in free agency and findingguys that they could sign for good money
but no guaranteed money. I thinkthat was very big for the Cowboys.
They don't like paying guaranteed money toother people's players that they reserve guaranteed money

(16:49):
for their own guys. That's justhow they operate. But they've got guys
for low value, low pedigree draftpicks who have the potential and have a
proven record to be stars and let'ssee if it works out, and if
not, then they punt on bothof those guys, and they move away
from them after one season and onto the next batch NFL draft. Obviously

(17:11):
they go being as successful as theywere in twenty twenty two. They have
late round, late picks in eachround. Their first selection a guy that
I thought it is low key, pretty good, Mazzie Smith at a Michigan
defensive tackle, and then followed upwith tight end out of Michigan, another
Michigan guy, Luke Shootmaker, basicallygiving you another big interior guy and Dalton

(17:36):
Schultz replacement. Right yep. Ilove the Mazzi Smith's pick. Not too
enamored with Schoonmaker. I know everybodysaid deep tight end draft. The guy
that you're getting the number five tightend would have been the number two tight
end in the previous year or nextyear, or whatever the case may be.
It's still the number five tight end. I don't I don't have much
much. I don't have much expectationsfor him. I'm actually a lot more

(18:00):
intrigued to see whether or not JakeFerguson, who is Barry Alvarez's son in
law or nephew or you know, third cousin price removed out of Wisconsin.
I'm much more interested to see howhe develops, because I think they have
something in him, and the Cowboysare going to do a lot of two
tight end sets. They have anotherguy, Peyton Hendershot out of Indiana.

(18:21):
He got in some trouble so hewas undrafted, but he has a talent
to be like a third or fourthround pick. So I like the fact
that they have a stable and DaltonSchultz was I said they didn't have any
losses. Dalton Schultz was a loss. His production, his camaraderie, his
vibes that he has with Dak Prescottwill be missed. But he is not
an uber athletic guy that does alot after the catch. He got what

(18:45):
was there, but he was verygood at getting what's there in the offense.
So the Cowboys will probably take astep back in their tight end production.
But I don't look for Schoolmaker tobe that guy in year one.
Maybe year or two. But Ijust I don't know. He's injured.
He showed up to all season workin a walking boot, like he has
an injury history. He's just likeand they said it wasn't serious, But

(19:07):
I mean, you're firstly on thejob and you're unable to do your job
so when you miss all the offseason reps, which is really difficult,
exactly exactly exactly, So, butI'm really excited about Smith because I think
that anybody that Dan Quinn likes isaces with me. I mean, that
guy is such a defensive line guru. If that's the guy that he was
pounding the table before, I absolutelybelieve him when he says that he has

(19:29):
untapped potential just with a couple oftechnique tweaks in order to be a pass
rusher even at that mammoth size.So I'm very excited about that pick.
From rounds three through seven, ofthose selections, who do you think has
a chance to make some sort ofimpact this year? And who are the
guys that are projects and or youknow, bit pieces down the line.
So the Cowboys, I really likeInduce Vaughan because he is he had such

(19:56):
high production at Kansas State and he'sso small, So you just root for
a guy like I mean, hereally looks like darren Sproles revisited, And
I mean that's really high accolade thatyou can give to somebody that when you
watch them, they remind you ofdarren Sproles. We all know the kind
of career he carved out in theleague. There is a cornerback named Eric

(20:18):
Scott Junior who was taken on Daythree. The Cowboys last year picked Duran
Bland out of Fresno State in thefifth round and he ended up having five
interceptions leading the team. He camein halfway through the year when Dan Lewis
got injured, played the slot.Phenomenal pick. The way that they talked
about Duran Blands as a first impressionduring all season work is how they talked

(20:44):
about Eric Scott. So while rightnow the cornerback room is very crowded for
the Cowboys, that's kind of thepick that, even if it doesn't happen
this year just because of lack ofopportunity, Eric Scott is kind of the
Day three guy that I'm super excitedabout. There's also a Udfa Isaiah Land.
He is a linebackerround of Florida Aand M. He's going to be
the defensive end hybrid, kind oflike what they had Michael Parsons doing originally

(21:07):
before he moved more full time dBut he kind of has that magic to
him. But smaller school probably takeshim a little while to get acclimated,
but I have a lot of highhopes for him as well. Some of
the receivers that Dallas picked up asUdfa's It's weird that I'm talking about UDFA
so much, but that's kind ofwhat Dallas does. Tony Romo UDFA,
Cole Beasley like, they do UDFAvery well, Miles Austin UDFA, you

(21:30):
know that that's kind of what theydo in Dallas. They find those guys,
So I'm excited about them. AndI talked about Luepti earlier from North
Dakota State. I really like thedeath that Dallas got out of this draft
class. And let's face it,with all of these contracts coming up,
they're going to need these rookies andsecond year of guys to be integral in
their development because the Cowboys are goingto have to let people walk. They

(21:52):
just have too many big name peopleat big name positions that are going to
cost a lot of money, Sosome of these guys have to hit in
order to keep the roster fill out. Coming on the next own the Rise
Ups. He read podcasts, BestOur Cardinals, Stalk of Welup, and
move on to look at to twentytwenty three, what is expected? What
can the Cowboys do that's coming tonext? And rise ups? He read
We're back on the risives here readpodcast Best Our Cardinals Stalk of the Web.

(22:14):
The Cardinals face the Cowboys at homein week three. I have that
marked off as a no chance win, no chance game because mainly because I
don't think Kyler's going to be backtill at least week five. I think
it'll be week five, weeks six. And if you're playing Cult McCoy against
that defense, and you're putting thatdefense up against that Cowboys offense, good

(22:37):
luck. But aside from that, what are the expectations for the Cowboys this
season? First and foremost, don'twrite off Colt McCoy against the Cowboys.
Texas boy loves to play them,y'all. You're you guys are at home,
so you know he won't be ableto perform in front of his own
crowd. But we know very wellto underestimate a Cult McCoy team. Well,

(23:03):
it's not Kyler at at and TStadium where he's literally never lost.
We just have bad mojo when itcomes to y'all quarterbacks. That's what it
comes down to. So I appreciateyour enthusiasm and saying that you know it's
a no chance, but I'm nervousabout every game. And there's just something
about the Cardinals, like you said, Um, you know, they feel
they always feel disrespected against the Cowboysfrom you know, NFC East days back

(23:27):
before you know they tried to fixthe alignment. Um. I remember Jake
Plumber, my guy, So Istill have wounds from okay. Um.
But yeah, explanation for the Cowboysare they're right there with the Eagles.
I mean, if you're going tosay that the Eagles are the favorites to
repeat, I don't know how youdon't look at it as being a three

(23:49):
headed monster between the Eagles forty nineers and the Cowboys and the NFC.
Obviously, Aaron Rodgers is gone now, Detroit's an interesting team. Minnesota got
handled in the play by a fauxGiants team, Like the Giants aren't good
and they got they got handled athome by the Giants, so I don't
trust them. Um, there's alwaysgonna be one or two surprise teams in
the in the division, in theconference. That's what makes it fun that

(24:11):
you just have a team that youdidn't expect to be there that gives everybody
fits. I think the Cowboys are. I mean, it's one ABNC between
all of them, and if theparty magic wears off, then it's probably
just whoever wins the NFC East isgoing to be the favorite. And again,
the Cowboys have owned the Eagles,so it's it's really hard to say

(24:33):
that the Eagles are anywhere, youknow, far and above. I think
the Eagles had a great draft.I think they had a great draft last
year, but those guys didn't reallyperform in year one. They didn't get
a lot of reps them. What'sthe big boys name Jordan Davis and the
Kobe Dean and those guys. UmSo I think they're going to be much
improved in year two and we're gonnahave to look out for that, you
know, that sophomore class. Butthey will be playing with the new with

(24:56):
the new Dan the coordinator, whichis going to be interesting that change.
Yep, new offensive coordinator, newdefensive coordinator. So it's because the shame
stricken striking went to the Colts andyou guys got Gannon. So yeah,
there could be a lot of turmoilor you know, bumps in the road
for the Eagles. And if theCowboys jump out there, you know,
the beginning of the schedule. Imean they have Aaron Rodgerson there, but

(25:18):
those first four games all seem winnableto start off four oh before they get
into the medi of the schedule wherethey got the forty nine Ers and the
Chargers, and then they get abye week and then you know it's it's
it's not a it's not a blockbusterschedule until you get to the tail end
of the season and you never knowwhat happens. But yeah, Buffalo in
December Miami and December Detroit ended Washington. That's on the heels of the Eagles

(25:44):
game. I could see the Cowboysdoing twelve wins again for the third year
in a row. Fourteen feels likea stretch, but if they kind of
like there's their regular season ceiling, and if everything went their way exactly,
fourteen is the ceiling for me.I mean, there's gonna be losses in
there, but I don't see themwinning less than ten. I don't see

(26:06):
any like, even with injuries.Ten and seven is a floor for this
team. There's just too much talent. I mean, we haven't even discussed
Michael Michael Parsons. Yet you know, there's just too much talent on that
team to win less than ten games, but yet fourteen of the ceiling,
and honestly, they have the ceilingto win a super Bowl. So I

(26:26):
can see they could be champions orbut you don't. You really don't see
a scenario in which where they don'tmake the postseason. That would be a
very big disappointment, and we wouldbe they'd be cleaning shot. It would
be Mike McCarthy if they don't madethe playoffs. Mike McCarthy is absolutely out
the door. They're gonna give thejob to Dan Quinn and figure out a

(26:47):
new offense. That's just all thereis to it. They fired Kellen Moore,
I mean they mutually parted ways anddo an air cost for those listening.
They fired Kellen Moore. Uh,he's in San Diego now our Los
Angeles with the Chargers and it's MikeMcCarthy's team. He's gonna be calling the
plays he design in the offense withBrian Schottenheimer, your old friend from Seattle
days. So it'll be very interestingto see what tweaks they make. But

(27:10):
they absolutely are our playoff bound unlesscatastrophe happens. So I usually end the
show um kind of asking how Cowboysfans view the game against the Cardinals.
It sounds like, at least thosewho pay attention some while it looks on
paper like a game they should winhandily, there's always just a touch of

(27:32):
worry, always like I wouldn't putthe Cardinals. I definitely chalked them up
as a win, but I didn'tput the Cardinals in the category of the
Carolina Panthers where I say they should. They should put up that might be
their first fifty burger of the season, you know. Like that Cardinals defense
though, the let me tell youand you know, you know, the

(27:57):
best defensive alignment they have as CarlosWatkins. Yeah, that's our guy,
I know. But he's a niceplayer. He's a nice player. There's
no way he should be your bestdefensive life, right, Yeah, y'all,
y'all are dealing with a lot ofturnover. I mean, obviously what
retired, you know, no moreChandler, you know those days are gone

(28:19):
and tough times in the desert.Man. I'm I'm sorry, but I
still just I still can't bring myselfto just say that's going to be,
you know, the thirty point winon the road, Like I will be
heartbroken if we don't be Carolina bythirty if we get if we escape from
Arizona. I'm not betting an eyelegend because that's just one of those It's

(28:40):
just one of those games. It'sa rivalry game. I mean, regardless
of whether Cowboys fans fill it.I know that the Cardinals get up for
the Cowboys, so I'm just expectingit to be, you know, a
closer game than a lot of people. And definitely what Vegas is going to
set the line out, so Ido the in fairness, like you talk
about Colt McCoy, I think theCardinals sneak their one win with him playing
against the Giants because it's a homein Week two home openers, so the

(29:03):
car so there'll be a little bitextra juice in the building and that'll be
that can The fact that the GiantsI think got as good as they could
possibly be last year, table goteverything out of them they could have.
So if you want to get meon a ramp, ask me how I
feel about Bayball not going to gethim a real quarterback. I was like,

(29:25):
you created magic out of thin erawith Daniel Jones walk away and go
get to a real quarterback. Butthey get him forty million dollars, So
more power to them. You appreciateit. So yeah, I'd love to
see the Cardinals beat them in weektwo. Please do that. Yeah,
but I have I think I thinkKyler comes back about week six, But

(29:45):
I do honestly, I think thatthe Cardinals are going to exceed that their
win total. I think six ishwins is I think is going to be
kind of the sweet spot because he'sgonna come back relatively early. And with
Kyler, that offense is nice. It's not it's like crazy, but it's
it's nice. And the I thinklate by the mid season, this undermanned

(30:07):
defense will be coached up to bescrappy competitive with Gannon. And so so
let me ask you this question, what is the thought in Arizona about Gannon?
Because Philly wasn't sad to see himgo, Like Philly fans were not
upset that he walked. He's Ilove him, um okay. I love
the mentality he's brought. He's broughta new vibe. His his intensity is

(30:34):
like Jim Harbaugh, but he's notan a hole like Jim Harbaugh's. Jim
Harbaugh's bit grows very weary to playerbecause he's very annoying of it. But
Gannon has that same competitive intensity withevery like everything's a competition, and he's
got a compassionate side of the playerswhere he's really trying to cater to the
players. And I think Kyler haswill as competitive as Kyler is. I

(30:57):
think that connection is there because hemakes every and he makes everything competitive,
and so I think they will getThey will take an undermanned roster and overachieve
a little bit, allowing them tothen be players as much players as they
can be, and to be reallymuch more competitive in twenty twenty four.

(31:18):
I'm excited about that. That'll beinteresting because I think Kyler has so much
talent. If he buys in witha coach, I think, I think,
I think it's going to be greatbecause I think some of his aloofness
came from I call it. He'sHe's not Kobe, but he's that type
of mentality where if your intensity doesn'tmatch his intensity, then he doesn't.

(31:40):
It has nothing to do with you, get right, right? YEA,
I could say it. I coulddefinitely say that. So Katie, you're
over at Cowboys Wire. What otherstuff can my listeners find you at?
