Speaker 4 (01:34):
Thank you Sanuslavily to be here and hid To.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
On your listeners.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Awesome, because this is an interesting topic. We are going
to be talking about energy as humans. I think this
is an important topic and subject because a lot of us,
especially now might feel drained at some point, either at
some point or for some reason they don't know why.
So I think that we are going to be talking
(01:58):
about this important thing for for us as a humans,
because without energy, we.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Are not diving forward in our life.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
So, first of all, but because this is the Success
Great Podcast, Gabrielle, I want to know throughout your career
and corporate and now you're an energy coach, I want
to know what do you think success is and what
you have seen throughout the years with your experience. Other
people would say success is.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
That's such a beautiful question.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
The same For me, success is living your life authentically.
And I was in a successful, on paper, successful corporate career.
I was a senior leader. I worked in financial services banks,
and I was miserably unhappy in the last few years.
So I would start us saying, identifind that is successful.
(02:46):
What success is for me is really tacking into your
purpose and living. It's actually making the hard decisions to
show up in your life in a way that where
you can be your best every day, give of your best,
and you can contribute to others because you're coming from
a place of openness and heart scentsedness.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
So for me, that's what success is.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
And I think I lived that definition in my own
life because I broke free of a career that ostensied
me was really successful. But keep me tracked in a
cycle of anxiety and stress.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
That's very important to be authentic and to resove ourselves
that you are we are going to be about this
place of anxiety or stress because maybe one of the
reasons is that we don't have energies.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Maybe for what what is the reason?
Speaker 6 (03:44):
Right?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
What does energy mean to us as humans? When we
talk about the human energy.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
Was that, So it's life force.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
You mentioned it earlier that you said I actually wrote
down then you didn't say everything's energy, but you said
it's the thing that drives us forward in life. I
think those for your words, and I would say that,
you know, sometimes it's known as prana or chi, but
it is it is the life force that is the
difference between us when.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
We're alive or not alive.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
And what energy does is it? And you mentioned this
it either moves you forward in your life or keeps
you stuck. You spoke about feeling drained and not really
knowing why. When our energy is blocked and we have
trapped energy, what happens is that our life slows down
or we are unable to move forward. If you're very
(04:35):
stuck on a particular issue in our lives. And it
is invisible doesn't mean it's not powerful, but it's invisible.
So it's that like it's an either an invisible handbreak
or an invisible accelerator. We want to make it an
invisible accelerator so that we can use energy to propel
us forward rather than hold us back. So yeah, that's
how I would define energy as our life forks the
(04:59):
thing that creates who we are and also determines how
we show up in the world.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Now, how important it is to look after this energy
and life for us because we generally take being alive,
I guess for granted and the things that we do
for granted. What should we or how we should we
think about our energy as a humans?
Speaker 4 (05:25):
We should think about our energy as the power behind
everything that we do. So we should think about it
as almost like an invisible fuel that drives us, that
influences how we feel, how we think, and ultimately how
we navigate our life. It can either rev things up
(05:46):
or it could put the brakes on, keeping us stuck
in slow motion. And maybe as more of a kind
of an easy way to think about it is, you know,
I think about a morning you wake up, You've fueled
by positivity, you motivated, your thoughts are clear, your interactions
with people feel uplifting, Challenges that come your way feel manageable.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
But if you flip that to.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
A day when you're low on energy, everything is a
struggle and even the smallest setbacks can feel really really
overwhelming sore.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Now, in general, you talked about when we wake up
in the morning, so I'm sure A that was that
that feeling like we don't want to wake up to
do certain things, will go to work or whatever because
we think we are tired, you're all out of energy.
So is these kind of things that this energy that
(06:46):
we have is it something that I'm sure that it
has to do maybe with the food we eat? I
guess maybe it's some degree or do you think that's
not that or do you think it is dead or
what are the elements that are affecting us that durning
us or giving us as excellent?
Speaker 4 (07:05):
So, yes, food does matter, but that's not the wall
that I play. Exercise matters, you know, movement matters. But
the way that I said saying is that our energy
and how we feel, whether we feel stuck brained, all
of that is based on whether or not we have
(07:26):
got energy blocks in us. And a lot of people
think about energy as am I feeling energized or not.
The way that I work with energy is less about that,
although that is important, but it's more about is my
am I stuck in my life? Am I wanting to
(07:47):
move forward? But I'm able to move forward? So the
things that determine our energy of whether or not we've
got We all have these energy blocks us. I can
talk to you about how they form in a moment.
But so we all have energy blocks. The question is
how much they are running our lives or not. And
(08:11):
so what happens is when we are children. I'll keep
it to this lifetime. But when we are children, we
can we always experience trauments, things that are upsetting that
leave an imprint on us. But because we are young,
we don't have the mental capacity to work through what's
(08:33):
happened to us. What happens is each of those events
tho's experiences hold a particular energetic frequency, and when we
don't work through those events, the energy becomes trapped in us.
And what happens is, over time, more things happen and
(08:54):
they grow, and by the time they become a block,
they have taken and over our functioning. So what happens
with energy blocks is they start to They can be
distorted ways of thinking, limiting beliefs, and as you know
being the host of a podcast on success, when our
(09:16):
thoughts become distorted, then everything is a downhill spiral from there.
So it's whether or not you know these energy blocks
are running our life or whether we've got them under control.
And by the way we can develop energy blocks. Where
we are in our mother's wombs, she could have a
(09:36):
stressful event that's then passed on to us. And also,
like psychological blocks, energy blocks can get passed over generations.
So sometimes we may have, for argument's sake, a block
with money, you know, and we don't know why. But
when we look back in our past, we realize our
parents and grandparents have always been dealing with this issue.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
So it could be, for example, from the stories when
we grew older, for example, it could be from the
stories that we heard about our grandfather's grandmothers and dancester
maybe and Ajot indicates even their pregnant, brignant mother the
baby inside of her womb, So that's very significant.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
It's very significant.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I worked with somebody who's saying who had a block
from when they were in the mother's room in gestation
because the mother didn't want to be pregnant. It was
not something that the mom had planned. And so this
person walked through life with a sense of not feeling wanted,
(10:49):
not feeling like they could find their place. So the
energy around them was around one very clingy trying to
you know, connect desperately with people. That's how our blocks
start to play out and affect our lives.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
So, but these kind of things like, for example, these
things that we cannot control that already happen to us
as we are newborns or we are children. But don't
we as humans as we are growing up as we
go into adulthood, why do these things keep staying us?
Like why don't we like not think of this kind
(11:30):
of negativity that's say, all the bad energy that's coming
on from our relatives or family, and we keep it
going and going. Why don't we have this energy blocks
out and start thinking, I don't know, maybe and in
a positive way maybe, or try to find some kind
(11:51):
of a solution for it. And we're just living by
and not resulting to this helping ourselves to drive forward
and being in the lives force? Or do we all
need some kind of an external help and we cannot
find this solution within ourselves.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
I think that's just I think we can find the
solution in ourselves. I actually there's so many beautiful questions
and what you just asked her saying, just if I
can go into that and then go back to answer
some of the other stuff I actually believe we've all
got it within ourselves to heal ourselves, but most of
us just don't know how to. So that's the belief
that I have. But your question was more around why
(12:33):
do we You know, obviously you would know Rooney the
Suki poet, and he speaks about this invisible prism that
we live in prison in our head. Why do we
stay in the prism when the door is wide open?
Speaker 5 (12:49):
You know?
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Why do we choose suffering over living a healthy, happy life?
The thing with the two reasons when it comes to
energy blocks. The one is that they're invisible, so we
don't really know we've got them. The only thing we
know is that we've got patnals that don't serve us,
and so, but we don't know that it's an invisible
(13:12):
We don't know where they are, we don't know where
they come from.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
And so that's one reason.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
But the other reason is because when we have been
conditioned to believe certain things from childhood all our lives,
when they form part of our identity, and this becomes
who we are, even if the beliefs don't serve us,
(13:36):
even if the patterns are.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
Destroying our lives.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
It's so much a part of identity who we are,
the stories that we tell ourselves that it becomes you
have to make a very very conscious and very deliberate
effort to dismantle that. And it's anxiety provoking because even
if identity is not helpful, it's still our identity. It's
who we are, who are we without those destructive thoughts.
(14:01):
And now I can share with you my own example.
My I had a big block energy block, which was
around grief, loss and anxiety because I lost my father
when I was really young, and I stayed in my
own invisible spiritual prison. I used to worry all the
time before things happened. I would think the worst. You know,
(14:24):
I lived in constant anxiety waiting. There's this saying I
I'm not sure if you know, waiting for the other
shoe to haul, waiting for bad things to happen.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
My whole life.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
That was my pattern now and you would ask why
didn't you just let go of that? It was so
embedded in me, And there was what we called in.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
Psychology at pay off.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
So if so for me, waiting for bad things to
happen made me feel like I was more in control.
And if I stopped worrying, I would become complacent. And
if I became complacent, the rug would get pulled from
under my feet. I'd get punished, and then worse things
(15:07):
would happen. So and these for these are childlike, very
primitive thoughts and beliefs, but they moved. They were with
me for many decades in my life. So that's the payoffs.
For other people, the payoff might be, you know, I'll
blue smile, authenticity and cling to people because I feel
like up a lot makes me feel like I want
(15:28):
to do need it. So that's why we hold on
to these things that don't sturb us.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Like what you talked about here, that we waiting for
the bad things to happen. I think we all share
that type of thing that they was going to blow up,
my whatever is going to break. So we have in
every like type or level of things that we do
every day these type of thoughts into our head like daily.
I'm sure of that, yes, which is not really good,
(15:57):
it is actually one of the things that thens you
in a way.
Speaker 5 (16:02):
It does, it really does.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Yeah, I think you're right. I think it's more common
than we talk about. But for me, it's like I
think we all do think like that that's part of
human nature, but it becomes a very dysfunctional see if
that's how you live your life. So for me, I
always differentiate between feeling something, which is okay. You can
(16:27):
feel anxious, you can feel worried, you can feel concerned,
you can even feel angry.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
That's okay.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
But when it becomes at your energetic state, it's when
you become the emotion. There's a very big difference between
feeling anxiety and embodying anxiety on an energetic level, where
every single thing is seen through that lens. And so
(16:54):
I was in that movie. I wasn't just feeling anxiety.
My whole energy was just filled with anxiety. If you
met me within five minutes, you would have one minute
you would have realized, Wow, this is somebody who's really stressed.
So that's the difference. So, yes, we may all feel that,
(17:14):
but I was that was all of who I was. Actually,
everything else was overshadowed my fear.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
So I spoken mentioned fear.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Now, so you think that's because of fear, Like if
we think that this kind of things, we working for
both things to happen, that we are fearing something and
what is that something?
Speaker 5 (17:34):
Like, yeah, what we feel?
Speaker 4 (17:35):
What are we fearing? I think we fear it from
different things. For me, because I lost my father when
I was really young, I was nine years old. I
was fearing losing people that I loved. That was my
biggest fear in life. And so but other people might
fear being exposed, some people might fear being vulnerable. Might
(18:01):
some people might fear success, some people might fear failure.
So we all fear different things. The question is like
what is Can you go within yourselves and work out
what's driving your energy and your behavior.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
These kind of small things like given the small things
like the car is going to break or whatever, these
kinds of things are bad for us. So is there
a way to, let's say, work around these kind of
things and maybe instead of thinking of that every day
for the same day and not that's say once a month.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Maybe.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
So yes, the good news is, yes, there are things
we can do. And that's when energy mastery comes into it,
because I'm all about mastering your energy and it's easier
to do than what we give it credit for. So
(18:59):
there are first there are five steps to mastering your energy.
And you know, I can talk briefly about each one
and you'll see how it works. But the first one
is really because what is understanding your energy? So having
a higher level understanding or a consciousness regarding not just
(19:21):
your energy levels but yes, your energy levels, but also
your blocks and your patterns, and what are the triggers
as they occur, what gets you into a state of
flow versus what gets you into a state of resistance.
So understanding your energies the first step, and that requires
us to really get into a quiet space and ask
(19:42):
us some very simple questions like you know, you could
ask how am I feeling now? Or you could be
more specific, is my energy heavy or light? Is my
energy open or closed?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
There?
Speaker 4 (19:55):
You know, and to just sit with it and go
with it. So that's understanding your energy is the first set.
Second thing that we can do to feel less brained, anxious,
whatever it is, is to protect our energy because we
live in a world that's we've got so much coming
at us, and there are people and there are things
(20:17):
in our environment that can actually drail us and break
us down. So even before you work on yourself, what
you can start to do is you can eliminate blocks
in your environment, for example, relationships or friendships, that really
bring you down. In my case, it was resigning from
a toxic, toxic organizational culture that was keeping me stuck
(20:41):
in panic. So there are things we can do to
protect our energy. That's the second thing. Third thing is
this is where the real work start.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
Is to cure our energy.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
And there are deep things we can do that to
do that, but there are also very simple things that
we can do just to cure our energy. Exercise and
movement is one. You mentioned food earlier. There are simple
things that we can do to really just kense ourselves out.
Then the fourth step is how do you maintain a
(21:12):
high vibration? How do you maintain healthy energy? And this
is about interrupting patterns, so you know when your energy
is dipping or when you find yourself in a spiral
of negative thinking, being able to stop that spiral before
it goes too far. And then the fifth part of
it is, you know, how do you optimize your energy?
(21:33):
How do you elevate? And this is you know, I
do what we call energy activations.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
How do you lift your.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Energy and expand your energetic capacity so that you can
deal with more stuff coming from the outside. And this
is the basis of resilience when you know you're in
a rough place, when you're going through change, how can
you expand your capacity to handle more those five things? Understand, protect, clear, maintain,
(22:03):
and optimize.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Yeah, that's very important. But from what I am seeing now,
a lot of our energy is affected. Why of a
lot of what's happening to us in our life. We
are beginning our like for even we were born in
our mother's room, and as we are growing up knowing
our knowing about our families past, and as we go
(22:26):
through adulthood and keep growing as humans, and these kind
of negative people that come around you and for multiple things,
multiple levels, multiple thoughts, negative things, these things are that's
very important, Like to know when you I guess they
all say like it's important to know when you say
no to things.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Lash that's important.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Very important.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
That's one of the most important things you can do.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
So and what you're.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
Talking about it is how do you set boundaries? How
do you clearly define and communicate your personal boundaries? And
you can do that in you know, many ways you've
already said saying no to people, which is difficult for
a lot of people, but it's definitely doable. You know,
(23:14):
you can choose your company wisely and minimize contact with
people you drain you. I think the other thing that's
a really undervalued way of setting your boundaries is having
time to yourself, you know, spending a few hours on
your own, not turning on the television, not using your
(23:37):
mobile phone, not scrolling through social media. So there are
a lot of simple things that we can do. Also
digital detox, limiting the information that you take in and
be mindful of the information that you consume because that's
a very very big trigger. And generally just prioritizing self care,
(24:00):
making time for activities that recharge you. For me, that's
being in nature and it's thankfully under in Australia, beautiful weather.
Get out, go into the bush, go down to the beach,
have a swim in the sea. They're different things that
do it for different people.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
That's my go to avoiding negativity around you, having a
place in nature, and for example, exercising would be like
one of the best three options. So we can maintain
or release our energy negative energy in a way that
we can keep going forward. I would assume is are
(24:39):
one of the best tools that a human can do
to keep their energy going enough.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
Yes, physical movement is so important because what it does
is saying is that actually, when you're moving, you're moving
energy because it takes energy to move right. So what
you're doing is you're circulating energy through your body, and
where it might be trapped or where there might be
too much energy in a particular area, you're actually balancing
(25:06):
it out. I think it is so important to balance
out energy. It's important for you know, depression, mild depression.
Speaker 7 (25:14):
It's been studies, it's been shown, you know, to prove
that exercise and physical movement is actually really really important
for mild depression, anxiety, all of those things. I think
it is like I've been moving ever since I was
a young kid. I've been exercising, you know. I'm the
kind of person instead of taking the elevator up, I'll.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
Walk up stairs. I do a lot of cardio.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
I'm going to gym, I do weights, I do yoga
two times a week. There's so much that we can do.
And it's more than just a physical benefit. There are
psychological and energetic benefits as well.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
Do you think that us as a humans, the energy
that we have, is it related to ultimate on this earth?
Speaker 2 (26:04):
The ground diberlity does it relate to more powerful and
spiritual thing or being in your opinion.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
It's a deeply spiritual construct and I think you know,
I don't know how spiritual your guests are, but I
would say that I have worked with blocks that have
come from ancestors and that are comic in nature as well.
(26:31):
So if you're wanting to rarely release the root of
what's holding you back at an energetic level, you have
to really broaden your perspective about where these blocks form.
And you know, you know, I guess where you could
have picked things up. And so there are some of
(26:51):
I don't work uplers with all my clients because I
always meet my clients where they're at. But there's some
clients where it's important to release calm ties, karmic blocks.
That's not for everybody. Not everyone believes in that, fair enough,
but some people do. We go there, some people some
certain subcultures. I originally come from Africa, actually from South Africa,
(27:14):
and the ancestors are really big in the culture there.
So working with South Africans, they want to know what
they're carrying on behalf of their ancestors, so you know,
they're different ways of looking at this. You can keep
it as psychological or as spiritual as you want.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
And Gabrielle, is there something that you can add here
as a takeaway or a final point to the audience.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
The same for me. The most important thing for people
to take away is that actually energy runs the show.
If you're feeling stuck in your life, if you've been deep,
you can't get out of an unhealthy cycle. The chances
are you're working with something at an energetic level. So
the invitation is to really expand your mindset and lean
(28:06):
into this discipline.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
It's wonderful.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
That's very important. As we humans are here in this earth,
we are energetic.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
We can live our lives with that. We need to
keep that on the positive side of things. We need
to stay away from the negative things. We need to
maintain that energy. We need to do exercise. Each will
in general a lot of things that are affecting all energy,
so we can like thrive in our businesses and in
our lives. So that's very important because without that we
(28:36):
cannot do anything. In general, we cannot help ourselves, we
cannot help people.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
And then the community around us.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
So, gabriel what time people learn more about you and
get in touch with you.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Well, people can get in touch with me on Instagram,
probably Gabrielle dot Penstorm. She'll have that in the show notes.
I'm very responsive. I'm actually in them contact a lot
with people or that can get onto my website because
there are different ways of contacting me, the one of
which is to set up a complimentary vision call where
(29:10):
we meet, we talk about where you are in your life,
where you want to be, and what's holding you back.
So yeah, there are different ways to contact.
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Me a so moreson. Thank you gabriel for being with
me on this episode.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
We talked about the energy blocks which are really important
and the health to master the energy, which is like
we have to have our focus on this because it
is a very important thing of us being humans, yer
alive today.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Thank you very much Gabril for being with me on
this episode of the Texas Podcast.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
And thank you for being such a great host. Appreciate it.
