Dire Straits said it best—money for nothing. And that’s exactly what New York’s far-left wants. In this episode:
-The “Money for Nothing” mindset driving Zohran Mamdani’s campaign
-Why New York’s anti-business policies are pushing jobs and wealth out of the state
-The fantasy of taxing “the rich” vs. the reality of empty coffers and broken cities
-What Cuomo, Hochul, and the socialist fringe really mean by “fair share”
-And how these policies turn New York into the very same broken economies people fled
It’s all talk about fairness—until the bill comes due.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Money for nothing.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Yeah, they've had a great line there, that sting saying
and dire streets this back in the early days of MTV.
Money for nothing. Not I ain't working. That's the way
you do it. Let me tell you them. Guys ain't
dumb yep, that ain't working. Money for nothing, chicks for free?

(00:39):
That's it could be Mandami's campaign song. Quite frankly, money
for nothing canid tweet Mandami. When New York Governor Cuomo
refuses to tax the rich, he's refusing to let workers
enjoy the wealth they created. When he says taxes foster

(01:01):
a business friendly environment, he means an environment where it's
easy for bosses to steal from workers. Taxation isn't theft.
Capitalism is keeping taxes low. New York City right sure,
very very expensive place to do business in more ways

(01:21):
than one. And Dommy wants to raise taxes not just
on income taxes, but corporate taxes. As well. There's no
way anybody, no no business major biscuss set up shop
in New York City, unless they're getting some sort of
side deal, unless they're getting some sort of carve out giveaway.

(01:44):
You know, it's the same reason why we talked about
that the Micron plant that's being put outside of Syracuse,
New York, part of the Chips Act money. You honestly
think it would be going there if it wasn't for
Chuck Schumer, if they didn't cut a deal. You think
Elon Musk would have put that a solar panel factory
that never got finished, never got built, unless he got

(02:05):
a deal. They put that outside of Buffalo. I think
it's basically a warehouse now. That's all that's really there anyway.
Money for nothing. He went on MSNBC this morning and
walked back some of his comments when it came to
defunding the police. I don't again, all over social media.

(02:26):
I don't know where that is going to go. This
is what I think is going to happen, and this
is my opinion, is not going to be very good
for the state of New York. Again, he wins he's
not able to do the things that he wants to do.

(02:46):
He's not able. He can't snap his fingers and raise taxes.
That all has to happen up in Albany, and I
quite findly I don't know if Kathy Hochel is going
to go along with that. I think that's going to
be difficult, which will give him the opportunity to blame

(03:07):
Hulcal again. I have to think that. You know, again,
she came out in a dorse him. I don't know
if she had a choice, but he's not going to
be able to do these things. It's going to be very,
very difficult unless he gets rid of her and who
they going to replace her with. Some people think that

(03:28):
this is going to lead to an opportunity for a
Republican to win the state of New York. I don't
think so. I don't see that happening. See a lot
of nonsense. Again. I don't know what's going to happen
with the police officers. He can make some changes when
it comes to again his prosecutorial authority. Whether or not

(03:52):
he's going to go after misdemeanors. He's already talked about
that that's going to lead to all sorts of crime.
We're not going to prosecute stuff being stolen under one
thousand dollars, a myriad of other problems. We shall see,
we shall see. But again, it's kind of sad. It's
kind of sad. You're really, really sad. You got someone

(04:15):
that looks like is going to be the mayor of
New York City who thinks capitalism is stealing, busting your
butt going out there building a business, employing people, what's
built this country is stealing. Again. This is someone who's
major in college was African studies, an immigrant from Uganda.

(04:39):
I don't understand. I don't understand. I mean, you left
this from these third world countries. You're like a virus.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
You really are. And I'm sorry, I don't mean to
be rude, but you are. You come here and you
bring your contagion here to this to you from from
again lies. Donald Trump would call them shithold countries, and
you want to bring the ship holiness of your countries

(05:11):
to our country. Why would you do that? Why would
you do that?

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Again? Zorn quame mom dummy? And again, I mean you
ever listened to some of the things his parents had
to say. Remember Obama's pastor there. I forget the guys
Reverend I don't remember, Reverend right from Chicago, and Obama

(05:42):
got all sorts of you know, flak because he was
swearing from the pulpit. You know, man, Donnie's parents make
him look like Pat Buchanan. Let's just leave it at that.
There you go, There you go. Welcome to New York.

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
