Are we finally at the moment Barack Obama predicted—the point where Obamacare paves the way for full-blown government-run health care? With insurers seeking double-digit premium hikes for 2026 and coverage costs rising across the board, Americans are paying more and getting less. Republicans talked repeal and replace but delivered nothing. The result? A health care system lurching toward collapse by design. As frustration mounts and subsidies shrink, the “Affordable” Care Act looks more like a political Trojan horse for Medicare for All. The question isn't if anymore—it's when. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Have we
hit the Obamacare tipping point? Well? What is the Obamacare
tipping point? The Obamacare tipping point is the point in
time in Barack Obama basically explain this. He was honest.
It was some political rally where he said, you know,
the time when he was pushing for Obamacare, the country

(00:37):
wasn't ready for single payer and the government taking over healthcare.
And again, I'm an old guy. I remember when Bill
Clinton was president and he actually tasked Hillary Clinton with
doing that very same thing, and that thing fell apart.
So they gave us Obamacare, and if anybody actually looked
at the law, you knew the whole thing was a
bloody disaster and of itself, it's going to make prices

(00:59):
go through the roof, was going to basically wreck healthcare
here in the United States, and whata That's exactly what
has happened now. Republicans, Oh, we're going to repeal and
replace Obamacare. Yeah, it was one of the things that
they said they were going to do under Trump's first term.
And yep, John McCain said that toms down. And again

(01:21):
I made this perfectly clear here on the program. That
was a show. Okay, if it wasn't John McCain, John
McCain was the best person to do it. They asked
him to do it because again he already had a
tiff with Trump, so he could stick it to him.
But if it wasn't it wasn't John McCain, it would
have been another Republican. Because Republicans don't like to do
any work. They barely had anything repeal and replace, say,

(01:45):
nothing to replace it with. It was a garbage bunch
of legislation. They weren't prepared, didn't have anything to fix it,
didn't go to free market reforms. Republicans like to do
the hard work, and they don't like to, you know, say,
once people are getting free stuff, what they think is
free stuff, they're not going to take it away again.
They're afraid of donkeys.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
He is it?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What is it supposed to be? And you know, and
I think it's cartoon more elephants are really afraid of
mice or is that in real life. I don't know.
In real life elephants are really really afraid of donkeys anyway, Anyway, again,
Obamacare insurers seek double digit premium hikes next year. Hey, everybody,

(02:31):
get ready if you buy or own health insurance, who
are probably going to pay more next year, a lot more. Well,
there hasn't been a year ever where I haven't paid
more except the year where again I this was under
George W. Bush, and it was Rick Santorm's idea high

(02:53):
deductible health insurance coupled with health savings accounts. They have
them now, but they are expensive as hell. Insurers are
seeking hefty twenty twenty six rate increases for Affordable Care
Act marketplace plans coverage known as Obamacare. Blue Cross and
Blue Shield in Illinois wants a twenty seven percent hike,

(03:15):
sister plan in Texas asking for twenty one largest ACA
plans in Washington, Georgia, Rhode Island all looking for premiums
to surge more than twenty percent. The companies say the
big increases are needed because of higher healthcare costs and
changing federal policy, including cuts to subsidies that help consumers
pay for plans. The higher premiums would come after years

(03:37):
of enrollment growth and mostly single digit rate increases in
the Obamacare market. Yeah, guys, is it you feel like
you get your money's worth with your health care plan?
Do you do you really feel like? I mean, honestly,
did you have a clue? I don't even bother. It's

(03:59):
you know, it's like sandpaper. They wear you out over
a period of time. I mean it's time to time.
I'll get a bill, get a bill and be like,
what da, And I'll call up and I'll like, well,
just and then you gotta argue and say, no, I'm
not paying this, this is not accurate. I haven't sure,
and then they come back with the lower It's sucks.

(04:24):
Sucks when I talk about the Obamacare tipping point, it's
that point in time when you know the government is
gonna throw its hands up in the air and say,
you know what we're gonna do, Medicare for all. It's
coming soon, kids, It's coming soon. Watch Dog on Wall

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
