on your end. Learned here the other day about a
massive drug bust in Greece. Millions of dollars worth of
product seized, a network that seemingly supplied pot shops legal

or illegal over a good chunk of the state. Learn
more about that. We're going to be joined by the
acting police chief for Greece, Chief Ryan Parina. Sir, good
morning and welcome to the broadcast.

Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
I appreciate your time, Sir, I know you're busy. Please
tell us about this investigation and subsequent arrests.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So, yes, we developed some information last fall about the
two individuals acquiring and distributing large amounts of both loose
cannabis and concentrated cannabis. And then, you know, through investigative stuff,
we're able to develop information that obviously led to their
arrests and the confiscation of you know, six hundred and

fifty pounds of Canada cannabis and two hundred pounds of
concentrated cannabis products. Yeah, and then that included date pens, gummies.
And know there's some question about you know, the volume,
but everything that you know was in the press conference
in the background, all the pallets full of different types
(01:29):
of products and gummies depends, that was all included in
that way.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Count is Greece Police Chief Ryan Parina. That seems like
a massive amount, like an historic bust for your.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Department, sir, Yeah, it certainly is. And just like the
representatives from the Office of Cannabis Management side, it's the
largest one that they've had to date in the state.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's one of my congratulations to your department for handling this.
But it's staggering. What do we allege the these men
were doing with this marijuana?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Please, well, they you know, they were distribing it to
two stores throughout also you know, Western New York. I'm
not going to give any specific locations, but all around it,
you know, and and I don't have the answer as
to whether these are our legal stores or illegal stores,
you know, as far as selling cannabis. But you know
(02:22):
that that just lents to the whole the whole issue
with you know, licensing and the regulatory provisions that were
put into the law. When when cannabis was legalized several
years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Is Greece Police Chief Ryan Parina do we know where
they got the marijuana?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Sir? Uh. You know, I'm not gonna discuss, you know,
those parts of the investigation. Obviously. You know, investigations don't
end with arrest, so you know that that part of it,
We're gonna reserve comment on it. Now.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Can you say how your department first became aware and
and what steps you took, please?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, and that I said, that's still part of the
ongoing investigation. Obviously. You know, our detectives worked very hard.
We've got excellent people that work for the Greece Police Department,
and we worked very well with our partnering agencies. You know,
as we said in the press conference and press releases,
we worked with several including the DA to the opposite

canvas management of the New York State Police to all, you know,
make this happen. And you know a lot of work,
a lot of hours were put into it.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, I can imagine I can imagine one from Webster
one from Rochester. These two brothers, what did they have
a facility in Greece? What was their connection to your town,
please sir?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, they well they were Yeah, they were storing it
at a at a building here in town, as well
as another location in the city of Rochester. So yeah,
that's how we became involved in it, you know, because
of that storage area and uh you know that that
what is what one of the things that facilitated the
investigation and kind of grew likes from there.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, that's that's that's outstanding an investigation like this. We're
speaking to Chief Ryan Parina, he's the acting police chief
for Greece. An investigation that large, how many how many
officers that take? How how big a task is that
for your department?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, I mean, you know, just from you know, we
had a couple of investigators from just our agency assigned
to it. I can't speak to how many investigators from
the other agencies were assigned to it, but you know,
taking down multiple locations at one time. It wasn't just
a warehouse in Greece. It was you know, the warehouse
that was in the city as well as the homes
(04:35):
of the two that were arrested. That takes dozens of
officers to conduct an operation like that, and a lot
of man hours that put into the investigation. So it's
a large coordinated effort to bring an operation like this
down your department.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I mean sometimes, you know, in in in the Rochester region,
particularly Monroe County, we we've got the RPD, and we think, oh, yeah, Greece,
it's sits over there on the side. Greece department is
how large And if it were someplace else in the state,
you'd be a major regional law enforcement agency, wouldn't you.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Well, yeah, yeah, exactly. But people really lose sight of
how large the Greece Police Department is. I mean, we're
one hundred men sworn department, you know, and taking you know,
into consideration all the other agencies within New York State,
I believe there's somewhere around five hundred. We're considered on
the large side of the scale when compared to most
(05:30):
of our agencies, you know, within Mono County. Yes, obviously
Rochester is the largest department, but you know, for physical
size of the town, the town of Greece is larger
than the city of Rochester, and obviously Mondo County encompasses
the whole county, so they you know, they have more
deputies than we have officers. But you know, we have
a large call volume every year and we stay busy constantly.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Absolutely is a chief, Ryan Pore, and he's the acting
chief of the Greece Police Department. Is there anything else
on this particular case that you can tell us or
that we should know, sir?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
No, yeah, no, not at this time. I mean, and
I know that there's been you know a lot of
comments out there. I mean, you know, we read some
of the social media posts about oh, it's you know,
just cannabis. But you know, in the state legalized it.
You know, they put regulations in place and not for
you know, it just to be a free for all.
You know, there's there's weight limits on how much you

can possess, there's concentration levels that the products need to
abide buy and with these illegal sales, that's you know,
that's not always happening. So that that's where we, you know,
why we focus our efforts on this stuff. You know,
people all you know, often say it's just a marijuana. Well,
you know, there's a lot of other things involved that
(06:45):
are you know, come along with that it's a largely
cash business because it's you know, not federally legal. So
you know, when you're dealing with cash, that can bring
in a host of all the other problems.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
When you have cash, I can raise issues. When you
have a lot of money, that can raise issues. And
also I suspect we're speaking to Chief Ryan for Parina
of Greece Police Department. You know, within the state system,
there are revenues that goes to the state, and you
know when someone gets outside that system, there's a good
chance that they're defrauding the state out of a significant

amount of revenue.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Well yeah, not only that, I mean they're also you know,
creating an unfair advantage of those that are trying to
do it the right way and abide by all the
regulatory requirements and licensing requirements that they have to go
through to legally sell it. And it's you know, I'm
not obviously in the business world, that's not our focus
to make sure that you know, things are all fair,
(07:40):
but it certainly has an impact on you know, communities
and people's jobs and things like that, and it's not
fair to those that are trying to do it.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
The right way undred percent. Ryan Parena Chiefs, Greece Police Department. Also,
we found out yesterday that your department has a homicide
on its hands.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Yes, that's something that we're currently working on. I think
we did a press release on the yesterday with the
victim's name. Yeah, unfortunate accident that the district's attorney's office
is you know, handling now and answering all the questions.
Is that works its way through through the court system.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Again, as to the size and capability of your department
when this happened, office, we can go today or whatever
else like that. You you locate this person, you gotta
isolate the deal. That was a at least as we
watched it on TV, looked like a pretty significant law
enforcement response on the part of your department that day
as well.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Well, yeah, I mean we've got obviously, you know, we
we have a swat team, so you know, we always
have people that are tactically you know, trained above the
average officer to handle those situations. And when we responded
to the scene, you know, the outlook for the victim
even initially was not very good, so we treated it
as uh, you know, a homicide right off the bat.
(08:57):
So we you know, took necessary cautions. We got somebody
that is, you know, in a house not willing to
come out initially, and we don't obviously know what's in house,
so we have to take, you know, those necessary precautions.
It's the house that you know, we've been familiar with
in the past with you know, issues here and there,
and we don't know who's in there, so we're going
(09:18):
to take the necessary precautions to make sure our officers
are safe and the neighboring houses are also not put
in any danger.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
And the root of that dispute, if that comes out,
that'll come out through the DA's office someday or no, yes, okay, ye,
all right, transition to the department and such like that.
To residents, their department's okay. They have a confidence everything's
going in a good direction.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, we're doing great. I mean, like, hey,
I already said, the men and women uh this department work
hard every day. They do a great job. And you know,
we're we're moving forward and they're we're not skipping a beat.
And I don't think the residents of this town or
are going to notice. And I think that our you know,
recent arrests is an example of that in our recent
response to the incident that you just mentioned is another

example of.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
That outstanding Ryan Prina, who's acting chief of the Greece
Police Department. Anything else going on or anything else we
should know, So you want to tell us about.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
No, no, I think that for us. I think that
wraps it up for now. I hopefully, hopefully that's it
for a bit. But you know, we're a large town
of one hundred thousand residents, so there's always something going on.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Let me ask you one other thing if I could
different parts of the state and the country, folks, there's
a growing oh, we don't like they'll call them flat cameras.
They're the LPRs, and maybe they don't like this brand
or that brand you use. Your department uses LPRs effectively
and often tell us why that's a good thing and
how that's useful to you, please, sir.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I mean, I know, I know that there's you know,
some concerns, primarily with flock cameras, and you know, I'm
not super informed about what those issues are because we
don't use flock cameras. We are the leading agency in
this area to bring in LPR cameras and it's been
a game changer for us. You know, they they only
(11:08):
they only capture license plates, you know, and which is
you know, there's no expectation of privacy when you're you know,
right driving down the road, just like if anyone was
filming on a dash camera. I know it's the government,
but you know, people have a misconception that you know,
we're tracking everything, which with millions of hits, with the
volumes of cars that we have in this town, it's impossible.
(11:30):
We have checks and balances put in place to make
sure that nobody is abusing the system and looking up
things that they shouldn't be. There's audit trails involved. But yeah,
certainly it's been a huge advantage to us. I mean
it's almost daily or at least several times a week
that we're locating you know, it's stolen cars or you know,
it's system you know, locating missing people if they you know,
(11:52):
leave their house. You know that it's an initial step
for us to take to say, hey, you know, at
least we know they're going a certain direction, you know,
and there's some other investigation since you know that are
pending that I hope to make you know that we'll
be able to you know, make some comment on in
the near future that are significant. But it's really a
very helpful investigative tool for law enforcement.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yeah. I love that you guys use it and so effectively.
And last question is just an observation. Greece police departments
a social media game. Here's a picture of this thief
from this story. You know who this is. That seems
very effective for you guys.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, and that's been you know, right up there with
the LPRs. You know, we've really stepped that up over
the last few years and it's it's very helpful and honestly,
you know, when we started doing that, I was kind
of amazed at some of the outreach that we get
from people sending us private messages to turn people in,
because you know, people they don't like to see that
(12:48):
stuff in their comunity. They don't you know, a lot
of it is you know, people stealing and stuff, but
obviously they have adverse effects on local businesses, and you
know how they do businesses, and they can only absorb
so much shrinkage before they have to close the store.
And nobody wants to see that. Everyone you know still
enjoys going to you know, their brick and mortar storage,
and we had Boss Guys open a year or so ago,

and that was a huge success for the town and
for the malig research with the Wilmrit Company a hundred percent.

The police are well aware. We've spoken to the police
more than once. They're well aware. And what they say is, well,
we give them a ten thousand dollars fine, and then
a little while later they or another one of the
convenience stores start back up again. And so I was wondering,

could some of this marijuana be coming from this recent bust,
and also what's going to be done about these convenience stores.

I don't know, ma'am quite as to the first question.
You bet, it certainly could have come from a place
like this. The source of marijuana originally, I don't know
it myself. I'm not a fan of intoxication of any sort.
I'm not a fan of this. But the state of

New York decriminalized and then legalized, and the state of
New York has a regime for or a system for
selling it. Getting that going, you know, it took some
time and did not go very smoothly. Is an incredible
demonstration of incompetence in fact. But you know, I guess

we have to We'll trust the authorities to sort it
out how to do it. And you know, I appreciate
you telling the police if you're aware of any sort
of law breaking going on, and you know they and
the DAS and people like that, we'll figure out what

I'm focused on I just need to, like try to

when the mountain splits open? What the mark of the
beast is? All that stuff, the desolation, whatever that is.
I don't know what any of that stuff is. But
I figure if I try to, you know, be a

I really think has come true is Isaiah's got a
thing where he says, in the last days, people will
call good evil and evil good. I think that's happening
right now, right.

And I think.

That that's how I think that's how the devil works.
The devil works through fundamental deception. And we live in
a world right now where evil, wicked things are held
up as good and good righteous things are condemned as evil,
you know, And I think that that's a head job
that the devil's doing on us.

Proverb seventeen, verse fifteen says they all they justify the
wicked and condemned to just you know, stuff like that.
That's what I was going to give that kind of stuff. Yeah,

and people were way into that. But nowadays I think
it is you look around, and it's less spectacular stuff

like well they'll rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, and it's
more stuff about you know what. You and I've just
been discussing how in our society a lot of evil
things are creeping in and taking over. I think that's
where more people are focused today. And I think that's
probably I think that's good. That's where we ought to
be focused trying to And I think I don't know
if we can change it or stop it, but I

think we should point it out and we should resist
it in our lives where we can.

you get some little picture show in your head while
you're asleep. At any rate, I had this dream a
few days back, and it was I was talking to
a guy and he had a couple of kids, and
he had changed the names of his kids, and he

was in the dream. He was a big Christian e guy,
and he said, well, the Bible says we're going to
get a new name, so I have given my kids
new names. And then, you know, in the narrative, and
that just kind of kind of stopped, you know, mindor
dreams don't have typically a good story flow or anything else.

The narrative is often weak. But he says, oh, yeah,
the Bible says, you know, I'm uh, We're going to
get a new name, and so I've given my kids
a new name. And then, almost as a visual in
the dream, I saw the reference Revelation Too. Revelation is

a book in the Bible, some vision that John the
Apostle had on some island somewhere sometime, and at any rate,
Too is the second chapter of Revelation. So at any rate,
you know, I get up the next day and I'm
getting around to work, and this dream comes to mind,

and I just said Revelation two in there, and so
I get in the car and I'm driving to work
and I put on a little Bible app have it
read to me Revelation chapter two. I mean, what the heck,
Maybe there's some I don't know, maybe there's some message

is sending the messages through John's vision. And at a
certain point about halfway through, it says to this one
church that you'll be given a like a white stone
or something like that, and it will have a new

name on it. And so wham this concept of you
get a new name. And in the dream there was
the book and the chapter that that is found him. Now,
I don't think that, you know, we should change the
name of our kids. The dream was just a stupid dream.

But like, I like, where did How did I know
that that was in Revelation chapter two. Now I've read
the Bible through a few times. I personally almost never
read the Book of Revelation because one, I don't know
what Hel's talking about. Two, I honestly am not into

all that prophecy stuff, right, I honestly I have I've
got all I can do. Just trying to be a
better person, right to pray and read the Bible and
try to love God and try to love my neighbor
and try not to do too many big sins. That's

and this is probably foolish. God put Revelation in there,
I'm sure for a reason. I'm not sure I get
to edit or delete or digest. But so it's not like,

brain say well, if you'd like to learn where this
stupid thought come from and your stupid dream, go to
Revelation chapter two? Or was God sending me some grand message?

read and re read and reread Revelation chapter two too,

old gobblygook it's always been to me. And so I
can't explain where that Revelation two came from. Maybe the
human mind has a deep catalog in capability, maybe unconsciously

in all of the books, but it has been years
and I'm pretty sure that the last time I read that,

have puzzled over that, like was God telling me something?

if you think that's a good thing or a bad thing.
If people seek intoxication and clearly humans do you know

massive drug bust in Greece. Millions of dollars worth of
product seized, a network that seemingly supplied pot shops legal

or illegal over a good chunk of the state. Learn

acting police chief for Greece, Chief Ryan Parina. Sir, good
morning and welcome to the broadcast.

I appreciate your time, Sir, I know you're busy. Please
tell us about this investigation and subsequent arrests.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
So, yes, we developed some information last fall about the
two individuals acquiring and distributing large amounts of both loose
cannabis and concentrated cannabis. And then, you know, through investigative stuff,
we're able to develop information that obviously led to their
arrests and the confiscation of you know, six hundred and
(01:09):
fifty pounds of Canada cannabis and two hundred pounds of
concentrated cannabis products. Yeah, and then that included date pens, gummies.
And know there's some question about you know, the volume,
but everything that you know was in the press conference
in the background, all the pallets full of different types
(01:29):
of products and gummies depends, that was all included in
that way.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Count is Greece Police Chief Ryan Parina. That seems like
a massive amount, like an historic bust for your.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Department, sir, Yeah, it certainly is. And just like the
representatives from the Office of Cannabis Management side, it's the
largest one that they've had to date in the state.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
That's one of my congratulations to your department for handling this.
But it's staggering. What do we allege the these men
were doing with this marijuana?
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Please, well, they you know, they were distribing it to
two stores throughout also you know, Western New York. I'm
not going to give any specific locations, but all around it,
you know, and and I don't have the answer as
to whether these are our legal stores or illegal stores,
you know, as far as selling cannabis. But you know
(02:22):
that that just lents to the whole the whole issue
with you know, licensing and the regulatory provisions that were
put into the law. When when cannabis was legalized several
years ago.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Is Greece Police Chief Ryan Parina do we know where
they got the marijuana?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Sir? Uh. You know, I'm not gonna discuss, you know,
those parts of the investigation. Obviously. You know, investigations don't
end with arrest, so you know that that part of it,
We're gonna reserve comment on it. Now.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Can you say how your department first became aware and
and what steps you took, please?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah, and that I said, that's still part of the
ongoing investigation. Obviously. You know, our detectives worked very hard.
We've got excellent people that work for the Greece Police Department,
and we worked very well with our partnering agencies. You know,
as we said in the press conference and press releases,
we worked with several including the DA to the opposite
(03:19):
canvas management of the New York State Police to all, you know,
make this happen. And you know a lot of work,
a lot of hours were put into it.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, I can imagine I can imagine one from Webster
one from Rochester. These two brothers, what did they have
a facility in Greece? What was their connection to your town,
please sir?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, they well they were Yeah, they were storing it
at a at a building here in town, as well
as another location in the city of Rochester. So yeah,
that's how we became involved in it, you know, because
of that storage area and uh you know that that
what is what one of the things that facilitated the
investigation and kind of grew likes from there.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, that's that's that's outstanding an investigation like this. We're
speaking to Chief Ryan Parina, he's the acting police chief
for Greece. An investigation that large, how many how many
officers that take? How how big a task is that
for your department?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, I mean, you know, just from you know, we
had a couple of investigators from just our agency assigned
to it. I can't speak to how many investigators from
the other agencies were assigned to it, but you know,
taking down multiple locations at one time. It wasn't just
a warehouse in Greece. It was you know, the warehouse
that was in the city as well as the homes
(04:35):
of the two that were arrested. That takes dozens of
officers to conduct an operation like that, and a lot
of man hours that put into the investigation. So it's
a large coordinated effort to bring an operation like this
down your department.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I mean sometimes, you know, in in in the Rochester region,
particularly Monroe County, we we've got the RPD, and we think, oh, yeah, Greece,
it's sits over there on the side. Greece department is
how large And if it were someplace else in the state,
you'd be a major regional law enforcement agency, wouldn't you.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Well, yeah, yeah, exactly. But people really lose sight of
how large the Greece Police Department is. I mean, we're
one hundred men sworn department, you know, and taking you know,
into consideration all the other agencies within New York State,
I believe there's somewhere around five hundred. We're considered on
the large side of the scale when compared to most
(05:30):
of our agencies, you know, within Mono County. Yes, obviously
Rochester is the largest department, but you know, for physical
size of the town, the town of Greece is larger
than the city of Rochester, and obviously Mondo County encompasses
the whole county, so they you know, they have more
deputies than we have officers. But you know, we have
a large call volume every year and we stay busy constantly.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Absolutely is a chief, Ryan Pore, and he's the acting
chief of the Greece Police Department. Is there anything else
on this particular case that you can tell us or
that we should know, sir?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
No, yeah, no, not at this time. I mean, and
I know that there's been you know a lot of
comments out there. I mean, you know, we read some
of the social media posts about oh, it's you know,
just cannabis. But you know, in the state legalized it.
You know, they put regulations in place and not for
you know, it just to be a free for all.
You know, there's there's weight limits on how much you
(06:24):
can possess, there's concentration levels that the products need to
abide buy and with these illegal sales, that's you know,
that's not always happening. So that that's where we, you know,
why we focus our efforts on this stuff. You know,
people all you know, often say it's just a marijuana. Well,
you know, there's a lot of other things involved that
(06:45):
are you know, come along with that it's a largely
cash business because it's you know, not federally legal. So
you know, when you're dealing with cash, that can bring
in a host of all the other problems.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
When you have cash, I can raise issues. When you
have a lot of money, that can raise issues. And
also I suspect we're speaking to Chief Ryan for Parina
of Greece Police Department. You know, within the state system,
there are revenues that goes to the state, and you
know when someone gets outside that system, there's a good
chance that they're defrauding the state out of a significant
(07:17):
amount of revenue.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Well yeah, not only that, I mean they're also you know,
creating an unfair advantage of those that are trying to
do it the right way and abide by all the
regulatory requirements and licensing requirements that they have to go
through to legally sell it. And it's you know, I'm
not obviously in the business world, that's not our focus
to make sure that you know, things are all fair,
(07:40):
but it certainly has an impact on you know, communities
and people's jobs and things like that, and it's not
fair to those that are trying to do it.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
The right way undred percent. Ryan Parena Chiefs, Greece Police Department. Also,
we found out yesterday that your department has a homicide
on its hands.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Yes, that's something that we're currently working on. I think
we did a press release on the yesterday with the
victim's name. Yeah, unfortunate accident that the district's attorney's office
is you know, handling now and answering all the questions.
Is that works its way through through the court system.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Again, as to the size and capability of your department
when this happened, office, we can go today or whatever
else like that. You you locate this person, you gotta
isolate the deal. That was a at least as we
watched it on TV, looked like a pretty significant law
enforcement response on the part of your department that day
as well.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Well, yeah, I mean we've got obviously, you know, we
we have a swat team, so you know, we always
have people that are tactically you know, trained above the
average officer to handle those situations. And when we responded
to the scene, you know, the outlook for the victim
even initially was not very good, so we treated it
as uh, you know, a homicide right off the bat.
(08:57):
So we you know, took necessary cautions. We got somebody
that is, you know, in a house not willing to
come out initially, and we don't obviously know what's in house,
so we have to take, you know, those necessary precautions.
It's the house that you know, we've been familiar with
in the past with you know, issues here and there,
and we don't know who's in there, so we're going
(09:18):
to take the necessary precautions to make sure our officers
are safe and the neighboring houses are also not put
in any danger.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
And the root of that dispute, if that comes out,
that'll come out through the DA's office someday or no, yes, okay, ye,
all right, transition to the department and such like that.
To residents, their department's okay. They have a confidence everything's
going in a good direction.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Oh yeah, yeah, we're doing great. I mean, like, hey,
I already said, the men and women uh this department work
hard every day. They do a great job. And you know,
we're we're moving forward and they're we're not skipping a beat.
And I don't think the residents of this town or
are going to notice. And I think that our you know,
recent arrests is an example of that in our recent
response to the incident that you just mentioned is another
(10:05):
example of.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
That outstanding Ryan Prina, who's acting chief of the Greece
Police Department. Anything else going on or anything else we
should know, So you want to tell us about.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
No, no, I think that for us. I think that
wraps it up for now. I hopefully, hopefully that's it
for a bit. But you know, we're a large town
of one hundred thousand residents, so there's always something going on.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Let me ask you one other thing if I could
different parts of the state and the country, folks, there's
a growing oh, we don't like they'll call them flat cameras.
They're the LPRs, and maybe they don't like this brand
or that brand you use. Your department uses LPRs effectively
and often tell us why that's a good thing and
how that's useful to you, please, sir.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
I mean, I know, I know that there's you know,
some concerns, primarily with flock cameras, and you know, I'm
not super informed about what those issues are because we
don't use flock cameras. We are the leading agency in
this area to bring in LPR cameras and it's been
a game changer for us. You know, they they only
(11:08):
they only capture license plates, you know, and which is
you know, there's no expectation of privacy when you're you know,
right driving down the road, just like if anyone was
filming on a dash camera. I know it's the government,
but you know, people have a misconception that you know,
we're tracking everything, which with millions of hits, with the
volumes of cars that we have in this town, it's impossible.
(11:30):
We have checks and balances put in place to make
sure that nobody is abusing the system and looking up
things that they shouldn't be. There's audit trails involved. But yeah,
certainly it's been a huge advantage to us. I mean
it's almost daily or at least several times a week
that we're locating you know, it's stolen cars or you know,
it's system you know, locating missing people if they you know,
(11:52):
leave their house. You know that it's an initial step
for us to take to say, hey, you know, at
least we know they're going a certain direction, you know,
and there's some other investigation since you know that are
pending that I hope to make you know that we'll
be able to you know, make some comment on in
the near future that are significant. But it's really a
very helpful investigative tool for law enforcement.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yeah. I love that you guys use it and so effectively.
And last question is just an observation. Greece police departments
a social media game. Here's a picture of this thief
from this story. You know who this is. That seems
very effective for you guys.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, and that's been you know, right up there with
the LPRs. You know, we've really stepped that up over
the last few years and it's it's very helpful and honestly,
you know, when we started doing that, I was kind
of amazed at some of the outreach that we get
from people sending us private messages to turn people in,
because you know, people they don't like to see that
(12:48):
stuff in their comunity. They don't you know, a lot
of it is you know, people stealing and stuff, but
obviously they have adverse effects on local businesses, and you
know how they do businesses, and they can only absorb
so much shrinkage before they have to close the store.
And nobody wants to see that. Everyone you know still
enjoys going to you know, their brick and mortar storage,
and we had Boss Guys open a year or so ago,

and that was a huge success for the town and
for the malig research with the Wilmrit Company a hundred percent.

New York has a regime for or a system for

time and did not go very smoothly. Is an incredible

like well they'll rebuild the temple in Jerusalem, and it's

been discussing how in our society a lot of evil
things are creeping in and taking over. I think that's
where more people are focused today. And I think that's

be focused trying to And I think I don't know
if we can change it or stop it, but I

it in our lives where we can.

about dentist stuff, honest with you. Yeah, I probably should
go to a dentist. I hear they're good for you.
But when I go to think of the dentist and
it's just me. I am not all that like head
over heels with your technology. I trust that you're a dentist,

and I'm sure you're smart about this, and you've got
to write stuff. Okay, what I need I think some
other people need, is honestly hand holding, but just an
understanding this is unpleasant for me. I don't really want
to be here. If I get an excuse, I'm gonna
run out the door. And so if you could do

a little bit of handholding here, I'd be grateful. I
don't think I'm the only one who's that way. Well.

a goofy little thing that I really don't have any
explanation for or any particular reason to tell you. It's
just something have been able to figure out about a
week ago. Had a dream. And I am not a
person who puts any stock in dreams. I hope someday

we figure out what dreams are, where they arise, why
they do what they do. I'm not one of these
people to go look up in a book and find
some grand message in a dream that's meant to point
me this way or that way. You know, I know
you read the Bible that you know God can communicate
to people through dreams. But I think that ninety nine
(26:03):
point something. There's some weird brain chemistry going on, and
you get some little picture show in your head while
you're asleep. At any rate, I had this dream a
few days back, and it was I was talking to
a guy and he had a couple of kids, and
he had changed the names of his kids, and he
(26:29):
was in the dream. He was a big Christian e guy,
and he said, well, the Bible says we're going to
get a new name, so I have given my kids
new names. And then, you know, in the narrative, and
that just kind of kind of stopped, you know, mindor
dreams don't have typically a good story flow or anything else.
(26:51):
The narrative is often weak. But he says, oh, yeah,
the Bible says, you know, I'm uh, We're going to
get a new name, and so I've given my kids
a new name. And then, almost as a visual in
the dream, I saw the reference Revelation Too. Revelation is
(27:14):
a book in the Bible, some vision that John the
Apostle had on some island somewhere sometime, and at any rate,
Too is the second chapter of Revelation. So at any rate,
you know, I get up the next day and I'm
getting around to work, and this dream comes to mind,
(27:37):
and I just said Revelation two in there, and so
I get in the car and I'm driving to work
and I put on a little Bible app have it
read to me Revelation chapter two. I mean, what the heck,
Maybe there's some I don't know, maybe there's some message
in there. So I listened to it, and it's like
(28:00):
Jesus is talking to the seven churches or something like that,
is sending the messages through John's vision. And at a
certain point about halfway through, it says to this one
church that you'll be given a like a white stone
or something like that, and it will have a new
(28:21):
name on it. And so wham this concept of you
get a new name. And in the dream there was
the book and the chapter that that is found him. Now,
I don't think that, you know, we should change the
name of our kids. The dream was just a stupid dream.
(28:41):
But like, I like, where did How did I know
that that was in Revelation chapter two. Now I've read
the Bible through a few times. I personally almost never
read the Book of Revelation because one, I don't know
what Hel's talking about. Two, I honestly am not into
(29:03):
all that prophecy stuff, right, I honestly I have I've
got all I can do. Just trying to be a
better person, right to pray and read the Bible and
try to love God and try to love my neighbor
and try not to do too many big sins. That's
about where I am. Okay, I don't need to know
(29:25):
about you know, the Last Signs and all that stuff. So,
and this is probably foolish. God put Revelation in there,
I'm sure for a reason. I'm not sure I get
to edit or delete or digest. But so it's not like,
you know, it is possible that in my mind it
(29:45):
is there a retrieval system. Did some AI in my
brain say well, if you'd like to learn where this
stupid thought come from and your stupid dream, go to
Revelation chapter two? Or was God sending me some grand message?
So I have, over a few days since, I have
read and re read and reread Revelation chapter two too,
(30:08):
And you know, I'm probably dense. But it's the same
old gobblygook it's always been to me. And so I
can't explain where that Revelation two came from. Maybe the
human mind has a deep catalog in capability, maybe unconsciously
you know, again, I have read the Bible, I have
(30:29):
read Revelation chapter two. I've read all of the chapters
in all of the books, but it has been years
and I'm pretty sure that the last time I read that,
it was all gobbllygook to me. And so anyway, I
have puzzled over that, like was God telling me something?
(30:51):
Where did my mind get that? And I don't really
have any answers, and I'm not sure that there are
any answers. And again I get back to my basic
things with dreams I have, Uh, I have no frigging
idea most of the time. Uh what they what they
stand for?

You know?

Uh, we're talking a little bit ago about marijuana and
marijuana sales. The belief is now in the United States
and not all states have yet legalized the recreational use
of marijuana, but there now is more pot uh used
than alcohol that has hurt you know, alcohol sellers. A
(31:33):
little bit after the newscast, I want to ask you
if you think that's a good thing or a bad thing.
If people seek intoxication and clearly humans do you know
and you have two substances? One is uh what E
t O eight don't guess me the chemical thing, but
one is alcohol in various forms.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Uh.

And the other is is marijuana.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
If it's what E, T, O, H and ta. Whatever
these two chemicals are, you can access one chemical in
this product to the other chemical and other product. I
would just be curious based on your life experience. And
again my vote is don't use either one. But if

you if you have a choice, which is least damaging
to you, which is better for you, which is less
disruptive of say family or career, I would be curious
to know. So after the news coming up with the

my question would be marijuana or alcohol. If you're going
to pick one, If intoxication is what you seek, do
you go with marijuana or alcohol? What is least or
