Robin explains how he started BEI Inc. and why moving on from your position isn't always a bad thing! Since the mid 90s, while working for ESPN and ABC Wide World of Sports, Robin D. Berg has been dedicated to mastering digital television production. He has personally directed and produced hundreds of TV shows (over 200 in HDTV) for a wide variety of TV Networks including The Outdoor Channel, ESPN/ESPN2, OLN and Fox Sports. His production skills include editing and camera work. He now spends most of his time directing and running the daily operations of BEI inc.Lee Maen, a founding member and general partner of Innovative Dining Group, has been instrumental in building and expanding the company. After receiving an undergraduate degree in economics from UCLA, Maen entered the real estate market as a commercial real estate broker, racking up transactions totaling over $30 million in just four years. During that time, he entered the MBA program at UCLA’s Anderson School, and while still a student founded The Gem Bar & Lounge, one of Hollywood’s most popular nightspots. Maen was intimately involved in all aspects of The Gem, including design and development, financing, marketing and promotions, and other day-to-day operational responsibilities. After earning his M.B.A. in 1996, Maen, along with his three business partners, developed the first Sushi Roku, an instant commercial and critical success. He has lectured at the Anderson School and has sat on numerous industry panels, including the Aspen Food & Wine Classic.Jay Alan Samit is president of ooVoo – the world’s largest provider of social video chat with 50 million registered users. Samit is a leading technology pioneer with over 25 years experience in digital media. Prior to ooVoo, Samit was CEO of SocialVibe, the largest social media technology platform, reaching over 600 million consumers around the world each month for such major brands as Proctor & Gamble, Kraft, Nestle, Toyota, Pepsi, Microsoft, Visa, and Disney. Samit has held global senior management positions at Universal, EMI, and Sony. As Executive Vice President of Sony, Samit implemented a profitable global digital ecommerce strategy for Sony and built a new division from scratch — making Sony the #7 largest ecommerce site in the world. As Global President of Digital Distribution & Development for EMI, he broke new ground for the music industry launching digital businesses in over 30 countries. As Senior Vice President of Universal, Samit built one of the first on-line million member social networks in the 1990s and sat on the Studio’s overall steering committee.
