TheLiteratePatient: Cancer Care for All!
July 8, 2014•50 min
Whether we choose to admit it or not, race, culture, poverty, lack of family history, even no transportation to treatment for patients....these are all barriers to cancer care in the U.S. and in many parts of the world (to name only a few). Did you know that African American women have a lower breast cancer incidence rate than non-Hispanic white women, yet their breast cancer death rate is still higher? Why? Guests: Joenell Henry-Tanner, MPH, Dir. ACS Community Health Initiatives, and Fredda Bryan, ACS Community Health Advisor Supervisor. One key to the solution to health disparities are people like Joenell and Fredda, that reach out into the community to offer solutions, education, and HOPE! Co-host Dr. Melissa Stewart. Joni live M-F at 2:00 p.m. ET on www.W4CS.com. www.JoniAldrich.com
