As a group they had lower rates of heart disease three years after surgery, and the risk of dying for any reason was 50 percent lower overall. Those are the finding of guest and lead author, Scott Lovald of Exponent. This study and an earlier study on hip replacement would seem to confirm what many of us suspected.
